This report presents the data obtained during the design proofing test on the Heater Controller for the Propellant Utilization Manometer. The objective of this test was to determine if the Heater Controller would perform satisfactorily under the anticipated operational environments. (Author)

The objective of this test was to determine if the telemeters installed on the missile would satisfactorily perform their assigned function. To carry out this objective, the tests performed had three aims: (1) To determine if the telemeters had been correctly modified and setup by the Convair facility; (2) To determine if the telemeters would survive the operational environment by simulation of in flight conditions that might adverseley affect operation; and (3) To determine if problem areas that had been present on previous telemeter series had been corrected by redesign or retrofit of low reliability components.

This paper is directed towards the top management people who know their organizations must engage in substantial research, but who feel the need for better yardsticks by which to measure this increasingly costly segment of their business. Five criteria will be presented which are essential to the successful management of research. The criteria to be presented are; setting corporate research objectives, selection of research projects, determination of research budgets, evaluating research results, and utilizing an integrated approach to research. The objective of the test was to determine if the test specimen would: Perform satisfactorily while being exposed to the vibration, temperature-altitude-humidity, and acceleration environments; Meet the requirements of radio interference; and Meet the test procedure requirement of 500 hours of maintenance free operation. A new quantitative method for characterising rocks such as fault breccias and gouges is presented. The method, appropriate for a large range of different types of weak cataclastic fault rocks, involves appraising their mineralogical composition and microstructural characteristics in the laboratory from hand specimens. Correlation of the rocks' geological and geomechanical properties on the basis of this approach has shown promising results.
