The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on society, such as job losses, rising staples, and economic hardship. Prices of food needs that continue to increase and are not affordable have resulted in food problems, one of which is protein. One of the high-quality protein is protein from fish. Fish as a fishery commodity that is relatively easy to cultivate on a large industrial scale and household scale for food self-sufficiency is catfish (Clarias sp). The purpose of this activity is to add insight and knowledge of the community about budikdamber for food self-sufficiency. The method of implementing community service activities in Kampung Six is carried out by counseling and training methods on Budikdamber. In this training activity, a bucket with 40 liters of water and 20 catfish seeds was used. Maintenance was carried out for 60 days with ad satiation feeding three times a day. Observations were made on growth, survival and water quality. The results of the activity found that 93% of the community partners had understood about Budikdamber. Budikdamber maintenance by partner communities gets an absolute weight growth value of catfish of 14 g, catfish survival value of 75%, and 1 bunch of kale per bucket. Based on the results of this activity, it is hoped that there will be the provision of special land for Budikdamber as an example for people who want to develop in their respective yards.

Sumber konsumsi ikan masyarakat Kota Tarakan adalah ikan layang dan bandeng yang berasal dari pasar tradisional. Pengelolaan pasar tradisional yang ada di Kota Tarakan cukup memadai namun, tingkat kesehatan dan higienis lingkungan masih kurang baik, penanganan yang belum memadai memungkinkan banyak bakteri yang berkembang dan mengontaminasi ikan. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui kontaminasi bakteri patogen (Vibrio spp. dan Salmonella spp.) pada ikan yang dijual di pasar tradisional kota Tarakan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif dengan beberapa tahapan mulai dari observasi pasar, pengambilan sampel, isolasi bakteri dan identifikasi. Isolasi bakteri Vibrio menggunakan media selektif TCBS (Thiosulfate Citrate Bile Salt Sucrose) dan bakteri Salmonella menggunakan media SSA (Salmonella Shigella Agar) identifikasi bakteri Vibrio dan Salmonella yang berpedoman pada buku Bergey’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology berdasarkan sifat morfologi dan kimiawi. Hasil identifikasi terdapat kontaminasi bakteri Vibrio spp. dan Salmonella spp. pada hasil perikanan yang dijual di pasar tradisional kota Tarakan khususnya ikan bandeng dan ikan layang.

Rumput laut (Kappaphycus alvarezii) merupakan hasil perikanan yang memiliki potensi sangat besar sekaligus memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi dengan olahan produk yang sangat beragam sehingga dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat pesisir. Namun permasalahan yang sering timbul pada usaha budidaya rumput laut yaitu adanya serangan penyakit ice-ice. Gejala penyakit ice-ice umumnya ditandai dengan pemutihan pada bagian pangkal thallus, tengah dan ujung, yang diawali dengan perubahan warna thallus menjadi putih bening atau transparan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bakteri patogen pada rumput laut (K. alvarezii) yang terserang penyakit ice-ice di Kota Tarakan. Isolasi bakteri dilakukan dengan menghaluskan sampel rumput laut yang telah diambil sebanyak 30 Gram kemudian dimasukkan sebanyak 5 Gram kedalam Erlenmeyer yang berisi media pengkayaan APW sebanyak 250 ml kemudian diinkubasi selama 6-8 jam pada suhu 370C. Selanjutnya jarum ose bulat yang telah disterilisasi dimasukkan ke dalam media APW kemudian digoreskan pada media TCBS dan TSA 3% dengan metode streak plate dan diinkubasi pada suhu 370C selama 24 jam. Kemudian koloni bakteri yang tumbuh pada media dipilih dengan warna, bentuk dan elevasi yang berbeda untuk di murnikan. Identifikasi bakteri menggunakan buku Manual for the Identification of Medical Bacteria dan Bergey’s Manual of Determinatif Bacteriology berdasarkan karakteristik morfologi dan biokimia. Hasil penelitian dengan mengidentifikasi bakteri pada rumput laut yang terserang penyakit ice-ice berdasarkan uji morfologi dan biokimia ditemukan bakteri yang menginfeksi yaitu Actinobacillus, Moraxella, Alcaligenes, Vibrio dan Bacillus. Kesimpulan terdapat 5 bakteri pathogen yang teridentifikasi pada rumput laut yang terserang penyakit ice-ice diantaranya; Actinobacillus, Moraxella, Alcaligenes, Vibrio dan Bacillus.

Bacteria has a main role in the food chain and waters productivity. Bacteria in the mangrove ecosystem mostly are from litter, sediment, and sea waters. The research objective is to determine the genus of bacteria that was found in Avicennia marina and Sonneratia alba leaf litter as well as bacteria in waters and sediment from a mangrove forest in Mamburungan. The method was designed by using explorative descriptive, and the analysis parameter was the genus. This study was done in the field experimentally with two phases; they were collected of mangrove leaf litter, waters, and sediment, followed by identification of bacteria in the Fish quarantine station, quality control, and safety of Tarakan Class II Fisheries Laboratory. The results showed that seven genus bacteria of Sonneratia alba was found, such as Bacillus, Aeromonas, Listeria, Stapylococcus, Enterobacteria, Bacteroides, Actinobacillus and nine genus of Avicennia marina, they were Bacillus, Listeria, Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, Enterobacteria, Corynebacterium, Actinobacillus, Plesiomonas, Flavobacterium. In sediment, there were ten genus, i.e., Bacillus, Plesiomonas, Enterobacteria, Corynebacterium, Listeria, Aeromonas, Micrococcus, Actinobacillus, Bordetella parapertussis, Clostridium. In sea waters, there were eight genus like Bacillus, Listeria, Aeromonas, Corynebacterium, Micrococcus, Actinobacillus, Pseudomonas, and Enterobacteria. The dominant bacteria that were found in litter, sediment, and sea waters were Bacillus.

Bacteria in sediment plays an important role in various biochemical processes in the waters area, for instance degradation of organic matter, biogeochemical cycle, controlling ammonium, nitrates and nitrites concentration, food source for fauna, primary production, and pollution remediation. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of bacteria (Genus) in sediment on the Mangrove and Bekantan Conservation Area (KKMB), Tarakan City. The method used was explorative descriptive method with genus identification as parametric test. Bacterial identification parameters were tested using Gram-test, main test and further test was carried out at the Laboratory of Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety Fishery Products Class II Tarakan. The bacteria found in the sediments on the KKMB were 16 genera i.e. Enterobacteria, Eubacterium, Listeria, Actinobacillus, Bacteriodes, Streptococcus, Plesiomonas, Corynebacterium, Pseudomonas, Aeromonas, Bordetella parapertussis, Micrococcus, Staphylococcus, Clostridium, Neisseria, and the dominant numbers found was Bacillus.

Traditional products derived from the local wisdom of the Tarakan City coastal communities, namely in the form of cold protective skin powder from the sun which is made from mangrove raw Sonneratia alba. This product has potential to be developed to improve the economic value of local communities. They can compete with products other sunscreen products produced by industry (commercial) through cream preparation technology (sunscreen).This research was carried out for seven months (February-August 2018) in the Environmental Laboratory of FPIK UBT, Samarinda Pharmacy laboratory (AKFARSAM), and the UNMUL Mathematics and Biochemistry laboratory. The research procedure used maserasi method with 70% ethanol solvent followed by concentrating the extract using a rotary evaporator to obtain extracts of active ingredients and carried out qualitative phytochemical testing. The obtained active ingredient was is then formulated into a sunscreen cream preparation. The level of protection of mixed sunscreen cold powder and commercial cream were tested by using UV-VIS spectrophotometer to see the value of Sun Protection Factor (SPF) at absorbance of 290-320 nm. Qualitative phytochemical test showed that on S.alba contains of positive alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, steroids, and tannins, and negative saponins.
