AIM: To report 5 cases with drug-induced bilateral acute ciliochoroidal effusion(DBACE)and myopic shift, with or without ocular hypertension(OHT), summarize patients' clinical characteristics and recovery process of DBACE, and investigate the possible pathophysiological mechanism.METHODS:A retrospective observational case study conducted from June 2017 to February 2021. The included patients were subjected to a series of ocular examinations listed as follows: 1)best corrected visual acuity; 2)intraocular pressure(IOP); 3)slit-lamp microscopy; 4)fundus photography; 5)ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM); 6)subjective optometry; 7)axial length and anterior chamber depth. All patients were followed up every 2d until the diopters were completely restored to the state before the disease onset.RESULTS:In total, 5 patients aged 10-45 years old, including 3 female and 2 male patients, were enrolled in this study. All patients were bilaterally involved(5/5), and had myopic shift(5/5), of whom 3 patients had OHT(3/5). With the increase of age, myopic shift decreased, while OHT increased. Based on OHT, the dynamic aggravation process of DBACE was subdivided into 2 stages, stage 1(myopic shift without OHT)and stage 2(myopic shift with OHT). With the deterioration of DBACE, when myopic shift approached or exceeded the minimum amplitude of accommodation(MAA), IOP gradually rose, and DBACE progressed from stage 1 to stage 2. With the recovery of DBACE after discontinuing the suspicious drugs, DBACE in stage 2 first returned to stage 1, and then returned to normal.CONCLUSION:Pathophysiological mechanism of DBACE was subdivided into 2 stages, including stage 1(myopic shift without OHT)and stage 2(myopic shift with OHT). The transition between the two stages depends on the imbalance between myopic shift and MAA.

Increasing storage root number is a pivotal approach to enhance both storage root (SR) yield and appearance quality of sweet potato. Here, 2-year field experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of 0 (K0), 120 (K1), 240 (K2), and 360 (K3) kg ha−1 potassium fertilizer (K2O) on lignin metabolism, root growth, storage root yield, and uniformity. The results demonstrated that potassium (K) application led to a decrease in the activities of key enzymes involved in lignin biosynthesis, including phenylalanine deaminase (PAL), 4-coumarate coenzyme A ligase (4-CL), cinnamic acid dehydrogenase (CAD), polyphenol oxidase (PPO), and peroxidase (POD). This resulted in a significant reduction in lignin and G-type lignin contents in potential SRs compared to K0 treatment within 10–30 days after planting (DAP). BJ553 exhibited a significant decrease in PAL activity, as well as lignin and G-type contents at 10 DAP, whereas YS25 showed delayed effects until 20 DAP. However, the number and distribution of secondary xylem conduits as well as the mid-column diameter area in roots were increased in K2 treatment. Interestingly, K2 treatment exhibited significantly larger potential SR diameter than other treatments at 15, 20, and 25 DAP. At harvest, K2 treatment increased the SR number, the single SR weight, and overall yield greatly compared with K0 treatment, with an average increase of 19.12%, 16.54%, and 16.92% respectively. The increase of SR number in BJ553 was higher than that of YS25. Furthermore, K2 treatment exhibited the lowest coefficient of variation for both SR length and diameter, indicating a higher yield of middle-sized SRs. In general, appropriate potassium application could effectively suppress lignin biosynthesis, leading to a reduction in the degree of pericycle lignification in potential SRs. This promotes an increase in the number of storage roots and ultimately enhances both yield and appearance quality of sweet potato. The effect of potassium fertilizer on lignin metabolism in BJ553 roots was earlier and resulted in a greater increase in the SR number compared to YS25.

This paper firstly builds a diversified content system of ideological and political courses based on knowledge graph, extracts course knowledge, proposes a LEBERT-CRF entity recognition method that dynamically fuses words and word-level word vectors for the problems that arise in ideological and political courses, and uses dictionary adapters to integrate the features of ideological and political dictionaries into the BERT model, and then combines the resources of ideological and political courses to expand the data sources of knowledge graphs. Finally, taking the teaching and classroom of ideological and political courses in a university as an empirical study, the results show that the test results of the teaching objects on the feedback of ideological and political course content have very significant differences. The teaching observers give 8 “good” evaluations, 6 “average,” 5 “excellent” evaluations, and 2 “need for improvement” evaluations, indicating that the ideological and political elements are well integrated with the course content. The mean values of value orientation, ideological and political integration, ideological and political resources, discussion and interaction, reflection and evaluation, activity organization, technical support, resource push, and dual-line teaching were 3.776, 4.098, 3.874, 4.191, 4.075, 3.885, 4.265, 3.945, and 4.245, respectively. Students recognize the content system of ideological and political courses constructed in this paper. Therefore, the content system of ideological and political courses built in this paper can effectively solve the current situation of redundant and difficult-to-grasp ideological and political knowledge systematically.

Evaluating innovation and entrepreneurship ability measurement of college students is one of the critical areas of research on innovation ability cultivation in colleges and universities. In this study, based on the existing Bayesian knowledge tracking model, the parameter matrix of innovation and entrepreneurship knowledge point relationship is added to improve the standard knowledge tracking model. The CS-BKT model is proposed to provide college teachers with detailed mastery of students’ innovation and entrepreneurship knowledge. Then the corresponding state space is delineated according to the mastery situation, and the evaluation model of innovation and entrepreneurship ability measurement for college students based on polymorphic rewarded Markov chain is constructed. Combined with different transfer probabilities, the model operates on student data to measure students’ innovation and entrepreneurship ability. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference between the acceptance and non-acceptance of innovation and entrepreneurship education in students’ innovation and entrepreneurship competence, and the level of innovation and entrepreneurship competence of students who had accepted it was 3.71, which was higher than that of students who had not taken it (3.53). There is a significant positive correlation between the social level of the place of origin, the individual level of entrepreneurial experience, and the rank of professional achievement and innovation and entrepreneurship ability, with p-values of 0.008, 0.003, and 0.001 respectively are less than 0.01. This study concludes the factors influencing the innovation and entrepreneurship ability of college students, which provides a reference value to the formation and development of the innovation and entrepreneurship ability of the students.

This study focuses on the hole transport layer of molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) for inverted bulk heterojunction (BHJ) organic photovoltaics (OPVs), which were fabricated using a combination of a spray coating and low-temperature annealing process as an alternative to the thermal evaporation process. To achieve a good coating quality of the sprayed film, the solvent used for solution-processed MoO3 (S-MoO3) should be well prepared. Isopropanol (IPA) is added to the as-prepared S-MoO3 solution to control its concentration. MoO3 solutions at concentrations of 5 mg/mL and 1 mg/mL were used for the spray coating process. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) depends on the concentration of the MoO3 solution and the spray coating process parameters of the MoO3 film, such as flow flux, spray cycles, and film thickness. The results of devices fabricated from solution-processed MoO3 with various spray fluxes show a lower PCE than that based on thermally evaporated MoO3 (T-MoO3) due to a limiting FF, which gradually increases with decreasing spray cycles. The highest PCE of 2.8% can be achieved with a 1 mg/mL concentration of MoO3 solution at the sprayed flux of 0.2 mL/min sprayed for one cycle. Additionally, S-MoO3 demonstrates excellent stability. Even without any encapsulation, OPVs can retain 90% of their initial PCE after 1300 h in a nitrogen-filled glove box and under ambient air conditions. The stability of OPVs without any encapsulation still has 90% of its initial PCE after 1300 h in a nitrogen-filled glove box and under air conditions. The results represent an evaluation of the feasibility of solution-processed HTL, which could be employed for a large-area mass production method.

Based on the conventional triaxial compression test of marble, the microscopic parameters corresponding to the macroscopic mechanical properties of marble were obtained by PFC2D, and on this basis, discrete element method models were established to conduct numerical tests of triaxial compression of marble under different confining pressures and loading rates to study the effect of loading rates on the rock specimens. Under the same confining pressure, brittle damage occurs in marble when the loading rate is low, and the damage type transforms from brittle to ductile as the loading rate increases. The peak strength, cracking stress, damage stress, cohesion, and internal friction angle of marble appear to increase with the increase in the loading rate under the same confining pressure. The characteristic stresses and strength parameters are linearly related to the loading rate. The influence of the loading rate on the peak strength is the most significant. With the increase in the confining pressure, the fitting coefficient of the linear relationship between initiation stress and loading rate decreases from 18.9 to 15.4 for different confining pressures, indicating that the growth rate of initiation stress decreases with the increase in the confining pressure when the loading rate is increased, and the increase in confining pressure suppresses the growth rate of initiation stress with loading rate.

Automatic segmentation of early esophagus cancer (EEC) in gastrointestinal endoscopy (GIE) images is a critical and challenging task in clinical settings, which relies primarily on labor-intensive and time-consuming routines. EEC has often been diagnosed at the late stage since early signs of cancer are not obvious, resulting in low survival rates. This work proposes a deep learning approach based on the U-Net++ method to segment EEC in GIE images. A total of 2690 GIE images collected from 617 patients at the Digestive Endoscopy Center, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, China, have been utilized. The experimental result shows that our proposed method achieved promising results. Furthermore, the comparison has been made between the proposed and other U-Net-related methods using the same dataset. The mean and standard deviation (SD) of the dice similarity coefficient (DSC), intersection over union (IoU), precision (Pre), and recall (Rec) achieved by the proposed framework were DSC (%) ​= ​94.62 ​± ​0.02, IoU (%) ​= ​90.99 ​± ​0.04, Pre ​(%) = ​94.61 ​± ​0.04, and Rec (%) ​= ​95.00 ​± ​0.02, respectively, outperforming the others. The proposed method has the potential to be applied in EEC automatic diagnoses.

Studies have revealed that rewards promote long-term memory, even in an incidental way. However, most previous studies using the incidental paradigm have included two reward levels, and it is still not clear how the reward magnitude influences memory. Adopting the incidental paradigm and three reward levels, the current study revealed that the reward magnitude impacted 1-d delayed episodic memory in a nonlinear, inverted U-shaped pattern. An additional experiment showed that there was no reward effect in immediate episodic memory. Our results support the dopaminergic memory consolidation theory and further imply that the reward magnitude needs to be considered in the theory.

Ammonium, as a major inorganic source of nitrogen (N) for sweet potato N utilization and growth, is specifically transported by ammonium transporters (AMTs). However, the activities of AMT family members in sweet potatoes have not been analyzed. In the present study, the sweet potato cultivar ‘Pushu 32’, which is planted in a large area in China, was used in field experiments at the Agricultural Base of Hainan University (20°06′ N, 110°33′ E) in 2021, and Sanya Nanfan Research Institute of Hainan University (18°30′ N, 109°60′ E) in 2022. Four N levels were tested: 0, 60, 120, and 180 kg ha−1. The results are as follows. Twelve IbAMT genes were identified in the sweet potato genome, which were classified into three distinct subgroups based on phylogeny; the same subgroup genes had similar properties and structures. IbAMT1.3 and IbAMT1.5 were mostly expressed in the storage roots under N deficiency. Compared with the NN and HN groups, IbAMT1.3 and IbAMT1.5 expressions, N content in storage roots, N uptake efficiency at the canopy closure, N fertilization contribution rates, number of storage roots per plant, storage root weight, and yield were all increased in the MN group. Furthermore, there was a significant positive correlation between the expressions of IbAMT1.3 and IbAMT1.5 with N content in the storage roots of sweet potato. In a word, IbAMT1.3 and IbAMT1.5 may regulate N utilization, affect the development of the storage root. and determine the yield of sweet potato. The results provide valuable insights into the AMT gene family’s role in the use of N and effects on storage root development and yield in sweet potatoes.

The holes and defects in rock materials have a great impact on the mechanical properties and failure mechanism of rock, cracks often appear in the form of flat ellipses in natural rock mass, and the current research is still insufficient. For this purpose, based on the Particle Flow Code (PFC) of discrete element particle flow program, the numerical prefabricated fractured rock samples with the ratios of the long and short axes of the elliptical fractures being 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15 were simulated in order to obtain the strength and failure characteristics, stress concentration characteristics at tips of numerical rock samples in uniaxial compression test. The results of the numerical test simulation show that: (1) When the rock models with prefabricated elliptical crack were damaged, the initial cracks occurred at the end of the short axis of the elliptical crack, and penetrated up and down from the surface of the elliptical crack, the wing cracks occurred at both ends of the long axis, gradually formed a macro-crack, and the secondary cracks extended near the wing crack. (2) With the increase of the ratios a:b of long and short axes of the elliptical fracture, the strength and elastic modulus of the numerical rock samples gradually decreased, Poisson’s ratio gradually increased, and the total number of micro-cracks in the rock models decreased. (3) The numerical solutions of stress concentration factor k obtained by numerical simulations at the tip of the elliptical crack increased with the increase in the ratio of a:b; it was highly consistent with the variation law of the analytical solution of the stress concentration factor calculated by the theory of flat ellipse. The stress concentration is an important reason for failure of rock with elliptical cracks. Study on the crack tip will be very useful and significant.

Two Al-Cu-Mg(-Ag) aluminium alloys, having the same base composition of Al-5.11Cu-0.96 Mg-0.58Mn-0.12Zr (wt.%) but different Ag contents, 0 and 0.7 Ag (wt.%), and accordingly denoted 0A and 7A samples, were aged at 185 °C. In early-ageing, the formation of disk-like Mg-Cu and Mg-Ag nano(co–)clusters can be quantitatively examined by Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), respectively. In the prolonged ageing of the 0A samples, the thickening in the disk-like θ-precipitates leads to a lower aspect ratio. For S-precipitates, the change in the total surface area and the single-particle surface area indicates that the coalescence mechanism is prevalent from peak-ageing to over-ageing, and then after over-ageing, the precipitate coarsening dominates. The coarsening in S and θ precipitates presumably leads to a lower mechanical strength. Alternatively, in the aged 7A sample, the SAXS technique in conjunction with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) quantitatively reveals Ω-precipitates possessing a nearly constant thickness but an increase in diameter with ageing time. Additionally, the stable behaviors of the total surface and size of S-precipitates illuminate that the coalescence/coarsening mechanisms are significantly slowed down. The concurrently-existing precipitation kinetics of Ω and S have provided an in-depth understanding of the higher strength of the aged 7A sample.
