The overall goal of urban water supply is to ensure the water quality from source to tap. As the "last mile", the building water supply system (BWSS) is the crucial part in ensuring tap water safety, and its deteriorating water quality has attracted increasing attention. In this work, we provide a comprehensive overview of the pollution, configuration, purification and regulation of BWSSs, with a focus on ensuring water quality safety. Periodic water usage in buildings is a unique feature that leads to intermittent water stagnation and reduced residual chlorine. Biological pollution has become a key focus of existing studies due to its acute effects on human health, compared to the chronic effects of chemical pollution. For new systems, water quality risks can be reduced at the source by optimizing pipe materials and reasonable layout. It is recommended to introduce secondary disinfection technologies, as they are important for ensuring biosecurity. Moreover, supervision and maintenance are the basis for long-term efficient operation of BWSSs. This review constructs a framework for controlling water quality deterioration based on the wholse process, which is instructive for the design, operation, maintenance and management of BWSSs, and provides relatively clear research directions for improving water quality. Objective: The objective of this paper was to investigate differential pathways in sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (SALS) based on pathway network analysis.Materials and Methods: To achieve this goal, first, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between SALS and normal controls were identified, and a target network was defined as DEGs correlated interactions from the search tool for the retrieval of interacting genes/proteins (STRING). Second, topological centrality analysis was conducted on the target network to identify hub genes and hub network. Third, pathway network was constructed by taking intersections of Reactome database and STRING protein-protein interaction network. Finally, based on extracting the common interactions between target network, hub network and pathway network, we built randomized network, performed randomization test, and denoted differential pathways and hub differential pathways with P < 0.05.Results: There were 485 DEGs and 627 interactions in the target network. The pathway network was comprised 117,370 interactions. What was more, we found that 217 pathways had intersections with the target network. By accessing randomization test and removing the intersected count <10, 21 differential pathways with P values were nearly to be 0 were obtained, of which 6 rightly were the hub differential pathways, such as gene expression, mRNA Splicing, and mRNA splicing-major pathway.Conclusion: We have investigated 217 differential pathways and 21 significant differential pathways between SALS and normal controls based on network strategy. The findings might provide potential biomarkers for detection and therapy of SALS clinically and give great insights to reveal molecular mechanism underlying this disease. N staging systems are paramount clinical features for colorectal cancer (CRC). In N1 stage (N1) CRC, patients present with a limited number of metastatic lymph nodes, yet their prognoses vary widely. The tumor invasion proportion of lymph nodes (TIPLN) has gained attention, but its prognostic value in N1 CRC remains unclear. We retrospectively analyzed 416 N1 CRC patients who underwent radical surgery from January 2014 to December 2018, reviewing 713 hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained slides to assess TIPLN. Overall survival was the primary outcome in our study. Using restricted cubic splines, we explored the relationship between TIPLN and prognosis, with Cox regression and subgroup analyses adjusting for potential confounders. We found that increased TIPLN was associated with an unfavorable prognosis. At a cut-off value of 50%, patients with high-TIPLN exhibiting poorer outcomes than their low-TIPLN counterparts (hazard ratio: 3.77, P < 0.001). Furthermore, high-TIPLN was confirmed as an independent risk factor for overall survival (hazard ratio: 3.12, P < 0.001) after adjusting for clinical confounders. Notably, TIPLN could also enhance risk stratification within the T and N stages, where patients with low-risk (T1-3 stage) and high-TIPLN demonstrated poorer overall survival compared to those with high-risk (T4 stage) and low-TIPLN (hazard ratio: 2.54, P = 0.021). In conclusion, TIPLN is a promising prognostic indicator for N1 CRC patients that complements traditional N staging system for a more comprehensive evaluation. In 2016, a severe leaf spot disease was found on Iris ensata Thumb. in Nanjing, China. The symptom was elliptical, fusiform, or irregularly necrotic lesion surrounded by a yellow halo, from which a small-spored Alternaria species was isolated. The fungus was identified as Alternaria iridiaustralis based on morphological characteristics. The pathogenicity tests revealed that the fungus was the causal pathogen of the disease. Phylogenic analyses using sequences of ITS , gpd , endoPG, and RPB2 genes confirmed the morphological identification. This study is the first report of A. iridiaustralis causing leaf spots on I. ensata in China.
