BackgroundThe reduction in moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and the increased prominence of psychological sub-health (PSH) have had a serious negative impact on the health of Tibetan college students. Few studies have been conducted on college student populations at high altitude region in China. Therefore, the study investigated MVPA and PSH in 8721 Tibetan college students to analyze the relationship that exists between them.MethodsIn this study, subjects were selected by cluster sampling method, and 8,721 high altitude region Tibetan college students were questioned about MVPA, PSH, family situation, BMI, and lifestyle. One-way ANOVA, chi-square test, and stepwise logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the relationship between MVPA and PSH.ResultsThe proportion of Chinese Tibetan college students at high altitude region with MVPA duration ≤30 Mins/Day, 31–60 Mins/Day, and ≥ 61 Mins/Day were 76.7, 18.7, and 4.7%, respectively. The proportion of Tibetan college students in China experiencing PSH was 16.41%. The percentage of emotional symptoms, behavioral symptoms, and social adaptation difficulties were 17.61, 18.04, and 14.59%, respectively. Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for relevant covariates, Tibetan college students with MVPA ≤30 Mins/Day had a higher odds ratio of PSH compared to college male students with MVPA ≥61 Mins/Day (OR = 2.95, 95% CI: 1.79,4.84). In contrast, there was no significant relationship between MVPA and PSH in college females. Overall, Tibetan college students with MVPA ≤30 Mins/Day had a higher odds ratio of PSH compared to Tibetan college students with MVPA ≥61 Mins/Day (OR = 2.99, 95% CI: 2.00,4.47).ConclusionChinese Tibetan college students from high altitude region areas had lower levels of MVPA and higher rates of PSH. There is an relationship between MVPA time and PSH among high altitude region Tibetan college students, and the incidence of PSH is higher among high altitude region Tibetan college students with shorter MVPA time.

Abstract Introduction Declining physical activity among university students has become a concern, with increasingly poor dietary behaviors and other unfavorable factors having an impact on the occurrence of psychological symptoms. Previous studies have analyzed the association between moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and psychological symptoms, but few studies have investigated the association between soy product consumption and these symptoms. In addition, the associations between physical activity and soy product consumption with psychological symptoms have not been investigated. Methods In this study, 7267 university students from different regions of China were surveyed regarding physical activity, soy product consumption, and psychological symptoms. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the associations among MVPA, soy product consumption, and psychological symptoms. A generalized linear model (GLM) was applied to further analyze the associations of MVPA and soy product consumption with psychological symptoms in this population. Results The detection rate of psychological symptoms among Chinese university students was 17.9%, with the rate among female students (18.9%) higher than that among male students (16.6%). The proportion of university students with MVPA 60 min/d was 76.1%, 19.3%, and 4.6%, respectively, and the proportion with soy product consumption ≤ 2 times/wk, 3–5 times/wk, and ≥ 5 times/wk was 25.8%, 42.4%, and 31.7%, respectively. BackgroundSugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and duration of physical exercise are strongly associated with physical health. Unfortunately, there are few studies focused on the association with psychological symptoms, let alone Tibetan university students at high altitudes in China.MethodsA stratified cluster sampling method was used to include 8,268 Tibetan university students aged 19–22 years in Qinghai and Tibet, both of which are high-altitude regions of China. Self-assessment questionnaires on SSBs, duration of physical exercise, and psychological symptoms were administered. The chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the associations among them.ResultsThe detection rate of psychological symptoms among Tibetan university students in high-altitude areas of China was 16.7%, with in girls (18.2%) higher than that in boys (14.8%), and the difference was statistically significant (χ2 = 11.73, p 60 min/d was only 5.4%. BackgroundResearch on the association between sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) consumption and sleep quality with anxiety symptoms has been highly emphasized. However, past studies have focused on college students in plains areas, while fewer research studies have been conducted on Tibetan college students at high altitudes. Whether this association changes due to ethnicity or altitude is unclear. The present study will contribute to the prevention and intervention of depressive symptoms among Tibetan college students at high altitude.MethodsA self-assessment questionnaire was administered to 3,026 university students (1,491 boys students, 49.27%) on SSBs consumption, sleep quality and anxiety symptoms status in the Tibetan Plateau, a high-altitude region of China. Logistic regression analysis and ordered logistic regression analysis in generalized linear model were used to analyze the association between SSBs consumption and sleep quality with anxiety symptoms.ResultsThe prevalence of anxiety symptoms among Tibetan college students at high altitude was 26.9%.
