The purpose of the research is to study the acute oral and dermal toxicity of a veterinary drug (fipronil, pyriproxyfen) in mice and rats.Materials and methods. The studies were performed according to the Methodical Guidelines of the State Pharmacological Committee in the vivarium of the VNIIP – FSC VIEV from February to April 2021. White outbred male mice and male rats were used as a test system to study toxicological characteristics of the study drug. The veterinary drug Insektal Shampoo is a topical solution that contains fipronil and pyriproxyfen as active ingredients. In studying the acute oral toxicity and acute dermal toxicity of the study drug on laboratory animals, established procedures were used.Results and discussion. The median lethal dose (LD50) was 12 500 (11,532÷13,468) mg/kg when administered to the white male mice intragastrically as per Miller-Tainter method. According to the generally accepted hygiene classification, the drug was classified as hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76. For the white male rats, LD50 was more than 20,800 mg/ kg (hazard class 4). When applied to intact rat skin, LD50 was more than 10 400 mg/kg, which corresponds to hazard class 4.

The purpose of the research is to study the acute oral toxicity of the medicinal product for veterinary use Iverbutan, intended for the treatment and prevention of arachnoentomoses and nematodoses of poultry.Materials and methods. The studies were carried out on 30 outbred male rats weighing 210-240 g and 60 mice weighing 18–21 g. The animals were divided into experimental and control groups. The drug was administered once without dilution in the form of the provided solution using an intragastric tube. Doses of 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000 and 10 000 mg/kg were tested on mice, and on rats – 10 000, 8000, 5000, 4000 mg/kg. The animals of the control groups were injected with drinking water. Within 14 days after a single dose of the drug, the physiological state and behavior of animals, possible death, as well as the manifestation of symptoms of intoxication were monitored. The control of the body weight of the animals of the experimental and control groups was carried out on the day of the experiment (before drug administration), as well as on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 9th and 14th days.Results and discussion. It was found that after oral administration of iverbutan to experimental animals, the average lethal dose, calculated by the Kerber method, was 5600 mg/kg of body weight in mice and 7000 mg/kg of body weight in rats (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76). The average lethal dose, calculated by the Miller and Tainter method, was 5292.0±1058.6 (4233.4÷6350.6) mg/kg of body weight in mice and 6463.2±1496.9 (4966.3÷7960.1) mg/kg of body weight of rats (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), which indicates species sensitivity.

The purpose of the research is to study efficiency of drugs for veterinary use "Inspector Quadro C” and "Inspector Quadro K” in the case of dogs’ and cats’ dirofilariosis.Materials and methods. Study was conducted on 24 animals of different breeds, which were naturally infected by Dirofilaria immitis and D. repens, including 12 dogs at the age from 7 weeks to four years with the body weight of 6–20 kg, and 12 cats at the age from 7 weeks to two years with the body weight of 0.7–5 kg. Diagnosis as well as drug efficiency was confirmed in its entirety based on clinical signs and laboratory studies (microscopic evaluation of animals’ blood films). V. B. Yastreb concentration method were used as the method of study. The drug was administered to the animals from experimental group by applying on dry, uninjured skin on places inaccessible for licking off in the dose range of 0.1 ml per 1 kg of animal body weight twice at intervals of 10–14 days which corresponds to the dose for cats 1 mg/kg, for dogs 2.5 mg/kg for moxidectin.Results and discussion. It has been established that drugs "Inspector Quadro C” and "Inspector Quadro K” had demonstrated 100 % efficiency at dirofilariosis disease in dogs and cats. Negative influence of drugs on animals’ organisms was not established.

The purpose of the research: the study of the efficacy of the preparations for veterinary use "Inspector Quadro C" and "Inspector Quadro K" against ecto- and endoparasitoses of dogs and cats. Materials and methods. Studies were conducted on spontaneously infected dogs and cats of different sexes, age, weight and breed. The diagnosis of infection with ectoparasites was made based on the clinical picture and laboratory methods of investigation (microscopy of scrapings taken from ectoparasitized skin areas, examination of the coat for fleas, lice, worms, ixodids). Infection with helminths was established by detecting eggs of helminths in faeces of animals by the method of Füleleborn and mature segments of cestodes. Preparations were applied to the animals by drip application on dry undamaged skin in places inaccessible to licking in a dose of 0.1-0.4 ml per 1 kg of body weight. The results were statistically processed. Results and discussion. "Inspector Quadro S" and "Inspector Quadro K" showed 100% efficacy at sarcoptosis in dogs, notoedrosis in cats, otodectosis in dogs and cats, ixodidoses and entomoses. "Inspector Quadro C" showed a high efficiency (92.3%) at demodecosis in dogs. However, single mites were found in one dog. 100% efficacy of "Inspector Quadro C" and "Inspector Quadro K" has been established against intestinal nematodes and cestodes in dogs and cats. Negative effects of drugs on the body of animals have not been revealed.

The purpose of the research is to assess the subchronic toxicity of the complex drug for dogs and cats “Inspector Kvadro” for cutaneous use.Materials and methods. The experiment was carried out on 40 male rats with an initial body weight of 220–240 g. The animals were divided into 4 equivalent groups of 10 rats each. The drug was applied daily for 7 days on a clipped skin in the back at doses of 1080; 540 and 216 mg/kg. During the experiment, we observed the general condition and behavior of animals, possible death, intake of food and water, visible physiological functions, the condition of the coat and skin at the site of application of the drug in order to evaluate the irritating effect. On the first day and 10 days after the last use of the drug, the animals were euthanized and blood samples were taken to determine hematological and biochemical parameters, a macroscopic examination of the organs was carried out, and the functional state of the central nervous system was evaluated.Results and discussion. Daily application on the skin of the drug in test doses did not lead to a change in the general condition and behavior of rats. Experienced animals normally took food and water, adequately responded to external stimuli. However, the recorded changes in some indicators indicate damage to the hepatocytes and indicate insufficient liver function. Given the increased relative liver mass of the animals of the first experimental group and the change in biochemical parameters, we can conclude that the drug has a pronounced hepatotoxic effect at a dose of 1080 mg/kg for cutaneous use for 7 days. Accordingly, the dose of 1080 mg/kg is toxic, the doses of 540 and 216 mg/kg are threshold.
