The relationship between psychological ownership (PO) and defensive voice to supervisor, and the moderation of this relationship by power distance orientation (PDO) are not examined in current research. To reduce harmful defensive voice to supervisor in organisations, it was examined if PO (job or organisation) is negatively related to defensive voice to supervisor. As research reports that PDO affects different predictor–employee voice relationships, the moderating effect of PDO on PO (job or organisation)–defensive voice to supervisor relationship was examined. Survey method and judgement sampling were employed for data collection from 349 information technology (IT) services employees in India. Confirmatory factor analysis and moderated hierarchical regression were used for analysis. PO (job or organisation) was found to be negatively related to defensive voice to supervisor, and PDO moderated this relationship such that high PDO employees express lower defensive voice to supervisor than low PDO employees.

Purpose: This paper analyzes the longitudinal development of outsourcing research and practical applications in aviation technical services through a comparison with information technology (IT) outsourcing to find commonalities, differences, and trends. Although these large knowledge-intensive industry segments have different boundary conditions, they both have a long history in outsourcing. Design/methodology/approach: Results from longitudinal expert interviews conducted in 2014 and 2020 are analyzed using a maturity model and compared to input collected from the literature. Findings: Outsourcing in both segments follows the path indicated in the maturity model, with some variations. In aviation technical services, elements from earlier maturity stages are retained both in research and practice, while in IT, new technologies bring the focus back to elements seen in lower maturity stages. Aviation has advanced further in maturity than IT outsourcing, despite IT being a larger and more widespread segment. Research limitations/implications: The interviews conducted were mainly with Finnish experts from internationally operating organizations. However, the possibility of geographical bias is considered small, as practices in both studied segments are truly international. Social implications: Well-functioning outsourcing is an essential part of modern organizations’ strategic set-up. Understanding the longitudinal development patterns helps both vendors and clients to prepare and adapt for the future. Originality/value: Maturity models have not previously been used for a longitudinal study of outsourcing development. Due to the development of the digital economy and the increasing importance of information technologies in modern companies, there is a need to ensure the required level of quality of information technology services provided. At the same time, one of the most important processes for achieving effective work of employees and technologies is incident management. The business user must have continuous access to the necessary resources of the information system, and the decision in the event of an incident should not be delayed indefinitely, suspending the business process in the company. Approaches to optimizing the incident management structure based on artificial intelligence tools, including machine learning, have been considered in the article. The positive aspects of using the artificial intelligence in incident management, real examples of companies and projects have been designated, and also the modern process of user support from detecting an incident until solving it has been analysed and presented.

Youth physical activity (PA) levels are a central focus for physical educators and health professionals worldwide. This study (a) examined the PA levels of children during structured and unstructured PA lessons of an after-school program (ASP) and (b) described the children's perceptions of structured and unstructured PA. Participants were 31 children, Mage (10.37 [+ or -] 1.4 yrs.), BMI percentile (79.86 [+ or -] 28.01), who actively participated in an ASP. Activity measurements examined mean steps per minute, percentage of MVPA, and percentage of activity time during unstructured and structured PA opportunities. Children accumulated higher mean steps per minute and percentage of activity time during unstructured PA; however, they had a higher mean percentage of MVPA during structured PA. There were statistically significant differences between mean steps per minute and mean percentage activity time. The aim was to identify if the elements of the service encounter and technostress creators affect the perceived service quality provided by internal information technology department, through the realization of a theoretical and empirical research. Quantitative and descriptive in its approach, the study was conducted with 138 users of IT services who work at a federal organization operating in the state of Espírito Santo. This research tested the direct influence of the three elements of service encounter (i.e. service product, service delivery and service environment) and four causal factors of technostress (techno-overload, techno-invasion, techno-complexity and techno-uncertainty). In addition, the research tested whether the individual characteristics of users (i.e. gender, age, education, current experience, previous experience and location of work) produced statistically significant differences when compared to their perception of the overall quality of services. The results generated through multiple regression showed that the overall quality of services was explained by the service product, service environment, service delivery and techno-complexity variables. Upon comparison, the statistical averages inferred that employees who work in decentralized organizational units, specializing in public service, rated the overall quality of services more positively.

This article deals with the deployment of an Internet of Things (IoT) technology within the energy industry (energy distribution) in the Czech Republic. The first part of the article is devoted to an assessment of the perspectives for developing IoT applications and implementing them within the economy, and then examines how the principles of multi-criteria decision-making are used to select IoT technologies for deployment in the energy industry. The selection of technology is also followed by the selection of the specific application with the highest potential benefit for the company using such a method to select the technology. The selection solution is demonstrated and further discussed from the technological and financial standpoints and illustrated via the example of choosing among two alternatives for a real-world application, very high voltage (VHV) frosting (in electric power transmission engineering, which is usually considered as any voltage between 52,000 and 300,000 V). The application solution is analyzed by how it relates to the direct vs indirect measurement of glaze ice. The result of this technical and financial analysis was that the direct glaze ice measurement variant is clearly the more advantageous one. The direct-measurement variant has a three-year payoff period, compared to six years for indirect measurement. Further, the benefits from the direct-measurement variant are 2.25 times larger than the other variant, and the five-year net profit value amounts to a profit for the direct-measurement variant while it results in a financial loss for the indirect-measurement variant. The recommended variant is to measure the icing of VHV lines directly.
