The ultimate goal of this study is to develop an effective and user-friendly form of thermal cycler to perform Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). This paper research the ability to manufacture a thermal cycler using conventional methods and readily available components to achieve a significant performance result with low production cost compared with commercially available counterparts. Commonly, thermal cyclers use an aluminum heating block as a heating vessel for samples, to achieve fast temperature changes and uniformity, but Polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) lab-on-a-chip (LoC) is utilized in contrast to silver as a heating vessel in this study to achieve biocompatibility with various samples. The raspberry-Pi pocket computer was used to achieve the necessary control with room for future capabilities addition and improvement. Characterization of the heating and PCR processes was done to understand the heat transfer phenomenon and thermal cycling speed in PDMS environment. This paper also includes analysis of the cycle speed corresponding to the control parameters of the manufactured thermal cycler. Ultimately, the characterization and analysis results will show the achieved performance capabilities of the thermal cycler.

In the end of third quartile of 2020, 98.9% Indonesia’s national electrification ratio has been reached. The obstruction of 100% electrification is occurring in remotes areas. It is caused by demographical factors, including small population and incomes, accompanied by geographic and economic restriction on installing conventional power plant. To overcome this problem, gravitational water vortex turbine power plant can be an alternative to generate electricity even in most remotes area since it offers low cost in operating and maintenance as well as easy to manufacture compared to other type renewable energy power plant. It can generate electricity up to 5 kW capacities with low head and flow rate. In order to optimize the turbine performance, a study arranged to evaluate the effect of blade size and depth onto efficiency of the turbine. The study conducted numerically using Ansys Fluent within assumption of 1.03 m head and 0.16 m3/s flow rate. There are nine configurations in this study with varying rotor size of 200 mm, 350 mm, 500 mm and turbine depth of 270 mm, 340 mm, 410 mm. Result of study leads to conclusion that largest size and upper top position give highest performance of the turbine.

In this study, an experiment was carried out to measure the performance of a delta wing with 65° swept angle. The measurement of lift and drag on the delta wing with and without plasma actuator was the main focus of this research. Multi-DBD plasma actuator was implemented on top of the wing. The experiment was conducted in a wind tunnel with a free stream velocity of 5.74 m/s or at Reynolds number of 83000. The performance of the wing was positively affected by the use of plasma actuator, indicated by the increasing lift coefficient and the decreasing drag coefficient, as maximum increase of 0.078 in lift coefficient and 0.053 decrease in drag coefficient were obtained.
