Our current society is experiencing a time of drastic change in education throughout the world so proactive and cooperative learning and teaching methods, i.e., “active learning,” need to be improved. Domestically, Japan is going through a series of reforms surrounding entrance examinations for both high school and University. In short, it is the time that we should recognize whom the lessons are for and how teachers should be teaching them. Under this situation, I have met teachers who wish to support the students not just as teachers, but also as coaches. Their lessons using coaching skills seem to have impacts on their students, with the teachers acting as motivators as well as supporters. Coaching might be a key in our upcoming situation. However, there is little academic analysis for coaching because it is considered practical knowledge rather than a scholarly resource. Thus, this thesis aims to define what coaching is and how it is done, and to use quantitative research to explore what influences coaching has on teachers' beliefs and high school students' academic achievement.The findings of this thesis illustrate the key role of coaching in three ways: 1) teachers come to have student-centered beliefs when they learn coaching; 2) students feel rapport with teachers who have been trained as a coach and they change their learning by using reflection sheets and following the sequence of coaching; 3) the coaching sequence helps to prevent lowering students’ motivation and improves their quality of learning. Fusion of one or two phenalenyl units onto the porphyrin core led to biradicaloids with different ground state, physical property and chemical reactivity., Materials based on biradicals/biradicaloids have potential applications for organic electronics, photonics and spintronics. In this work, we demonstrated that hybridization of porphyrin and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon could lead to a new type of stable biradicals/biradicaloids with tunable ground state and physical property. Mono- and bis-phenalenyl fused porphyrins 1 and 2 were synthesized via an intramolecular Friedel–Crafts alkylation-followed-by oxidative dehydrogenation strategy. Our detailed experimental and theoretical studies revealed that 1 has a closed-shell structure with a small biradical character (y = 0.06 by DFT calculation) in the ground state, while 2 exists as a persistent triplet biradical at room temperature under inert atmosphere. Compound 1 underwent hydrogen abstraction from solvent during the crystal growing process while compound 2 was easily oxidized in air to give two dioxo-porphyrin isomers 11a/11b, which can be correlated to their unique biradical character and spin distribution. The physical properties of 1 and 2, their dihydro/tetrahydro-precursors 7/10, and the dioxo-compounds 11a/11b were investigated and compared.

本報告書は、3月11日に発生したアスファルト固化処理施設の火災・爆発事故に対して、当該施設で生じた爆発威力の推定に関し必要となる当該施設の主要な構造壁(床)の静的降伏及び終局耐力の評価を目的としたものである。鉄筋コンクリート床板の降伏及び終局耐力のうち、前者については基礎微分方程式による解法が比較的有効とされているが、後者についての代表的な評価法には、K.W.JOHANSONによって体系化された降伏線理論があるが、床板内に生じる扁平アーチ状の圧縮膜作用(アーチアクション)が考慮されていないため、その正確な評価が困難とされている。ここではこのアーチアクションの効果を何らかの形で降伏線理論に取り入れ鉄筋コンクリート床板の終局耐力を評価することを試みる。ただし、複雑な境界条件を持つ床板に対しては本方法の適用が困難であることや、異なった解析法での同一床板のクロチェックを行うことは、解析法の妥当性の検証に有効であることから、一部の床板については、降伏耐力の評価も含め有限要素法による評価も実施した。その結果、上記クロスチェックを行うことにより、両手法の妥当性を示した。またアーチアクション等の効果を取り入れることにより、簡易手法を用いて、壁の降伏・終局耐力の評価をある程度行えることがわかった。本報告書は、鹿島建設が動力炉・核燃料開発事業団の委託により実施した研究の成果である。, None
