We present the explicit form of the Regge trajectory relations for the triply heavy bottom-charm baryons, which can be applied to investigate both the $\lambda$-mode excited states and the $\rho$-mode excited states. We estimate the masses of the $\lambda$-excited states and the $\rho$-excited states. The results are in agreement with other theoretical predictions. Both the $\lambda$-trajectories and the $\rho$-trajectories are discussed. Moreover, the behaviors of the $\lambda$- and $\rho$-trajectories for various baryons are discussed. It is shown that both the $\lambda$-trajectories and the $\rho$-trajectories for baryons are concave downwards in the $(M^2,\,x)$ plane. We apply the newly proposed Regge trajectory relation for the heavy-light diquarks alongside the Regge trajectory formula for the heavy-heavy systems to investigate the hidden bottom tetraquarks $(bq)(\bar{b}\bar{q}')$ $(q,\,q'=u,\,d,\,s)$. The Regge trajectory formulas for the hidden bottom tetraquarks are obtained. The masses of the $\lambda$-mode excited states and the $\rho$-mode excited states of the hidden bottom tetraquarks are estimated. Additionally, the $\lambda$-trajectories and the $\rho$-trajectories of the tetraquarks with hidden bottom are discussed. We find that the behavior of the $\rho$-trajectories is different from that of the $\lambda$-trajectories. The $\rho$-trajectories behave as $M{\sim}x_{\rho}^{1/2}$ $(x_{\rho}=n_r,\,l)$ because the $\rho$-mode excitations are in diquark and antidiquark, with both the diquark $(bq)$ and antidiquark $(\bar{b}\bar{q}')$ being the heavy-light systems. Conversely, the $\lambda$-trajectories behave as $M{\sim}x_{\lambda}^{2/3}$ $(x_{\lambda}=N_r,\,L)$ because the $\lambda$-mode excitations occure between diquark $(bq)$ and antidiquark $(\bar{b}\bar{q}')$, with the the diquark $(bq)$ and antidiquark $(\bar{b}\bar{q}')$ forming a heavy-heavy system $(bq)(\bar{b}\bar{q}')$. Continual Learning (CL) involves fine-tuning pre-trained models with new data while maintaining the performance on the pre-trained data. This is particularly relevant for expanding multilingual ASR (MASR) capabilities. However, existing CL methods, mainly designed for computer vision and reinforcement learning tasks, often yield sub-optimal results when directly applied to MASR. We hypothesise that this is because CL of the auto-regressive decoder in the MASR model is difficult. To verify this, we propose four optimizations on the decoder. They include decoder-layer gradient surgery, freezing unused token embeddings, suppressing output of newly added tokens, and learning rate re-scaling. Our experiments on adapting Whisper to 10 unseen languages from the Common Voice dataset demonstrate that these optimizations reduce the Average Word Error Rate (AWER) of pretrained languages from 14.2% to 12.4% compared with Experience Replay, without compromising the AWER of new languages., Comment: Accepted by INTERSPEECH 2024

Recent improvements in neural audio codec (NAC) models have generated interest in adopting pre-trained codecs for a variety of speech processing applications to take advantage of the efficiencies gained from high compression, but these have yet been applied to the speech separation (SS) task. SS can benefit from high compression because the compute required for traditional SS models makes them impractical for many edge computing use cases. However, SS is a waveform-masking task where compression tends to introduce distortions that severely impact performance. Here we propose a novel task of Audio Codec-based SS, where SS is performed within the embedding space of a NAC, and propose a new model, Codecformer, to address this task. At inference, Codecformer achieves a 52x reduction in MAC while producing separation performance comparable to a cloud deployment of Sepformer. The realization of correlated multi-photon processes usually depends on the interaction between nonlinear media and atoms. However, the nonlinearity of optical materials is generally weak, making it still very challenging to achieve correlated multi-photon dynamics at the few-photon level. Meanwhile, giant atoms, with their capability for multi-point coupling, which is a novel paradigm in quantum optics, mostly focus on the single photon field. In this work, using the method described in Phys. Rev. Res. 6. 013279 (2024), we reveal that the ladder-type three-level giant atom spontaneously emits strongly correlated photon pairs with high efficiency by designing and optimizing the target function. In addition, by encoding local phases into the optimal coupling sequence, directional two-photon correlated transfer can be achieved. This method does not require a nonlinear waveguide and can be realized in the conventional environment. We show that the photon pairs emitted in both the bidirectional and the chiral case exhibit strong correlation properties in both time and space. Such correlated photon pairs have great potential applications for quantum information processing. Characterizing users and items through vector representations is crucial for various tasks in recommender systems. Recent approaches attempt to apply Large Language Models (LLMs) in recommendation through a question and answer format, where real users and items (e.g., Item No.2024) are represented with in-vocabulary tokens (e.g., "item", "20", "24"). However, since LLMs are typically pretrained on natural language tasks, these in-vocabulary tokens lack the expressive power for distinctive users and items, thereby weakening the recommendation ability even after fine-tuning on recommendation tasks. In this paper, we explore how to effectively tokenize users and items in LLM-based recommender systems. We emphasize the role of out-of-vocabulary (OOV) tokens in addition to the in-vocabulary ones and claim the memorization of OOV tokens that capture correlations of users/items as well as diversity of OOV tokens. By clustering the learned representations from historical user-item interactions, we make the representations of user/item combinations share the same OOV tokens if they have similar properties. Furthermore, integrating these OOV tokens into the LLM's vocabulary allows for better distinction between users and items and enhanced capture of user-item relationships during fine-tuning on downstream tasks. Our proposed framework outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods across various downstream recommendation tasks.

Recent language model-based text-to-speech (TTS) frameworks demonstrate scalability and in-context learning capabilities. However, they suffer from robustness issues due to the accumulation of errors in speech unit predictions during autoregressive language modeling. In this paper, we propose a phonetic enhanced language modeling method to improve the performance of TTS models. We leverage self-supervised representations that are phonetically rich as the training target for the autoregressive language model. Subsequently, a non-autoregressive model is employed to predict discrete acoustic codecs that contain fine-grained acoustic details. The TTS model focuses solely on linguistic modeling during autoregressive training, thereby reducing the error propagation that occurs in non-autoregressive training. Emerging reconfigurable metasurfaces offer various possibilities in programmatically manipulating electromagnetic waves across spatial, spectral, and temporal domains, showcasing great potential for enhancing terahertz applications. However, they are hindered by limited tunability, particularly evident in relatively small phase tuning over 270o, due to the design constraints with time-intensive forward design methodologies. Here, we demonstrate a multi-bit programmable metasurface capable of terahertz beam steering, facilitated by a developed physics-informed inverse design (PIID) approach. Through integrating a modified coupled mode theory (MCMT) into residual neural networks, our PIID algorithm not only significantly increases the design accuracy compared to conventional neural networks but also elucidates the intricate physical relations between the geometry and the modes. Without decreasing the reflection intensity, our method achieves the enhanced phase tuning as large as 300o. Additionally, we experimentally validate the inverse designed programmable beam steering metasurface, which is adaptable across 1-bit, 2-bit, and tri-state coding schemes, yielding a deflection angle up to 68o and broadened steering coverage. Our demonstration provides a promising pathway for rapidly exploring advanced metasurface devices, with potentially great impact on communication and imaging technologies.

We obtain the largest catalog of multi-mode $\delta$ Sct stars in the northern sky to date using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) Data Release 20 (DR20). The catalog includes 2254 objects, of which 2181 are new to our study. Among these multi-mode $\delta$ Sct stars, 2142 objects are double-mode $\delta$ Sct, while 109 objects are triple-mode $\delta$ Sct and 3 are quadruple-mode $\delta$ Sct. By analyzing the light curves in the $r$ and $g$ bands of the ZTF, we determine the basic parameters of multi-mode $\delta$ Sct stars, including the periods and amplitudes. Periods are checked by comparison with the OGLE catalog of double-mode $\delta$ Sct stars. On the Petersen diagram, multi-mode $\delta$ Sct stars form six sequences. We find that in Galactic coordinates, the periods of 1O/F double-mode $\delta$ Sct stars at high latitudes are shorter than those of 1O/F double-mode $\delta$ Sct stars in the disk, due to metallicity variations. In the future, our catalog can be used to establish the period--luminosity relation and the period--metallicity relation of double-mode $\delta$ Sct stars, and to study the Galactic structure., Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures, accepted for publication in ApJS

Euler's formula, an extraordinary mathematical formula, establishes a vital link between complex-valued operations and trigonometric functions, finding widespread application in various fields. With the end of Moore's Law, electronic computing methods are encountering developmental bottlenecks. With its enviable potential, optical computing has successfully achieved high-speed operation of designed complex numbers. However, the challenge of processing and manipulating arbitrary complex numbers persists. This study introduces a generalized complex exponential operator (GCEO), utilizing a diffractive optical neural network (DONN) for the computation of the complex exponential through Euler's formula. Experiments validate a series of complex exponential calculations using the GCEO. The GCEO has demonstrated generalizability and can compute inputs of any precision within an appropriate error margin. Existing video multi-modal sentiment analysis mainly focuses on the sentiment expression of people within the video, yet often neglects the induced sentiment of viewers while watching the videos. Induced sentiment of viewers is essential for inferring the public response to videos, has broad application in analyzing public societal sentiment, effectiveness of advertising and other areas. The micro videos and the related comments provide a rich application scenario for viewers induced sentiment analysis. In light of this, we introduces a novel research task, Multi-modal Sentiment Analysis for Comment Response of Video Induced(MSA-CRVI), aims to inferring opinions and emotions according to the comments response to micro video. Meanwhile, we manually annotate a dataset named Comment Sentiment toward to Micro Video (CSMV) to support this research. It is the largest video multi-modal sentiment dataset in terms of scale and video duration to our knowledge, containing 107,267 comments and 8,210 micro videos with a video duration of 68.83 hours. To infer the induced sentiment of comment should leverage the video content, so we propose the Video Content-aware Comment Sentiment Analysis (VC-CSA) method as baseline to address the challenges inherent in this new task. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method is showing significant improvements over other established baselines.

Ultra-fine-grained visual categorization (Ultra-FGVC) aims at distinguishing highly similar sub-categories within fine-grained objects, such as different soybean cultivars. Compared to traditional fine-grained visual categorization, Ultra-FGVC encounters more hurdles due to the small inter-class and large intra-class variation. Given these challenges, relying on human annotation for Ultra-FGVC is impractical. To this end, our work introduces a novel task termed Ultra-Fine-Grained Novel Class Discovery (UFG-NCD), which leverages partially annotated data to identify new categories of unlabeled images for Ultra-FGVC. To tackle this problem, we devise a Region-Aligned Proxy Learning (RAPL) framework, which comprises a Channel-wise Region Alignment (CRA) module and a Semi-Supervised Proxy Learning (SemiPL) strategy. The CRA module is designed to extract and utilize discriminative features from local regions, facilitating knowledge transfer from labeled to unlabeled classes. Furthermore, SemiPL strengthens representation learning and knowledge transfer with proxy-guided supervised learning and proxy-guided contrastive learning. Such techniques leverage class distribution information in the embedding space, improving the mining of subtle differences between labeled and unlabeled ultra-fine-grained classes. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RAPL significantly outperforms baselines across various datasets, indicating its effectiveness in handling the challenges of UFG-NCD. This paper introduces a novel benchmark as part of the AIS 2024 Real-Time Image Super-Resolution (RTSR) Challenge, which aims to upscale compressed images from 540p to 4K resolution (4x factor) in real-time on commercial GPUs. For this, we use a diverse test set containing a variety of 4K images ranging from digital art to gaming and photography. The images are compressed using the modern AVIF codec, instead of JPEG. All the proposed methods improve PSNR fidelity over Lanczos interpolation, and process images under 10ms. Out of the 160 participants, 25 teams submitted their code and models. We propose a setup which combines giant emitters (coupling to light at multiple points separated by wavelength distances) with nonlinear quantum optics and its correlated photons. In this setup, we reveal a mechanism for multiphoton chiral emission: the propagation phase of the center of mass of two strongly correlated photons (a doublon), and the phases encoded in the coupling points of two giant emitters, can yield completely destructive interference in one propagation direction while supporting emission in the other direction. The degree of chirality can be tuned by the phases of the couplings. We show that the proposed setup can provide directional quantum many-body resources, and can be configured as a building block for a chiral quantum network with ``correlated flying qubits'', enabling distinct applications beyond linear chiral setups. Our findings point toward a rich landscape of tailoring multiphoton propagation and correlation properties by exploiting interference effects of giant emitters coupling to nonlinear photonic baths., Comment: 26 pages; 12 figures

Job recommendation aims to provide potential talents with suitable job descriptions (JDs) consistent with their career trajectory, which plays an essential role in proactive talent recruitment. In real-world management scenarios, the available JD-user records always consist of JDs, user profiles, and click data, in which the user profiles are typically summarized as the user's skill distribution for privacy reasons. Although existing sophisticated recommendation methods can be directly employed, effective recommendation still has challenges considering the information deficit of JD itself and the natural heterogeneous gap between JD and user profile. To address these challenges, we proposed a novel skill-aware recommendation model based on the designed semantic-enhanced transformer to parse JDs and complete personalized job recommendation. Specifically, we first model the relative items of each JD and then adopt an encoder with the local-global attention mechanism to better mine the intra-job and inter-job dependencies from JD tuples. Moreover, we adopt a two-stage learning strategy for skill-aware recommendation, in which we utilize the skill distribution to guide JD representation learning in the recall stage, and then combine the user profiles for final prediction in the ranking stage. Consequently, we can embed rich contextual semantic representations for learning JDs, while skill-aware recommendation provides effective JD-user joint representation for click-through rate (CTR) prediction. To validate the superior performance of our method for job recommendation, we present a thorough empirical analysis of large-scale real-world and public datasets to demonstrate its effectiveness and interpretability.

The systematic error induced by the quadratic Zeeman effect is non-negligible in atom interferometers and must be precisely evaluated. We theoretically analyze the phase shift induced by the Zeeman effect, and use a hyperfine ground state exchange (HGSE) method to evaluate the systematic error in the long-baseline $^{85}$Rb-$^{87}$Rb dual-species atom interferometer due to the quadratic Zeeman effect. Compared to the two evaluation methods, mapping the absolute magnetic field in the interference region and performing phase measurements at different bias fields, the HGSE method could obtain the systematic error in real time in case of slow drifts of either the ambient magnetic field or other systematic effects irrelevant to the hyperfine ground states. To validate the effectiveness of the HGSE method, we also employ the mapping magnetic field method and modulating bias field method independently to cross-check and yield consistent results of three methods within an accuracy of $10^{-11}$ level. The HGSE method is helpful in evaluating and suppressing the quadratic Zeeman-effect-induced systematic error in long-baseline atom interferometer-based precision measurements, such as equivalence principle tests.

We present a complete study of the $B\to D^*P\ell^+\nu_\ell~(\ell=e,\mu,\tau)$ decays with the non-resonant, the charmed axial vector resonant and the charmed tensor resonant contributions by using the SU(3) flavor symmetry. Relevant amplitude relations between different decay modes are obtained by the SU(3) flavor symmetry. We then predict non-measured branching ratios of the $B\to D^*P\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays with the non-resonant and the charmed resonant contributions by using present experimental data of the $B\to D^*P\ell'^+\nu_{\ell'}~(\ell'=e,\mu)$ decays within $2\sigma$ errors. We have found that $B^{0,+}\to D^*\eta\ell^+\nu_\ell$, $B^{0,+}\to D^*\eta'\ell^+\nu_\ell$, $B^{0}_s\to D^*_s \eta\ell^+\nu_\ell$, $B^{0}_s\to D^*_s\eta'\ell^+\nu_\ell$ and $B^{0,+}\to D^{*}_sK\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays only receive non-resonant contributions. Decays $B^0_s\to D_s^{*-}\pi^0\ell^+\nu_\ell$ only receive the $D'_{s1}$ resonant contributions. We study the imaginary-time relaxation critical dynamics of the Neel-paramagnetic quantum phase transition in the two-dimensional (2D) dimerized S = 1/2 Heisenberg model. We focus on the scaling correction in the short-time region. A unified scaling form including both short-time and finite-size corrections is proposed. According to this full scaling form, improved short-imaginary-time scaling relations are obtained. Relaxation processes are crucial in understanding the structural rearrangements of liquids and amorphous materials. However, the overarching principle that governs these processes across vastly different materials remains an open question. Substantial analysis has been carried out based on the motions of individual particles. Here, alternatively, we propose viewing the global configuration as a single entity. We introduce a global order parameter, namely the inherent structure minimal displacement (IS Dmin), to quantify the variability of configurations by a pattern-matching technique. Through atomic simulations of seven model glass-forming liquids, we unify the influences of temperature, pressure, and perturbation time on the relaxation dissipation, via a scaling law between the mechanical damping factor and IS Dmin. Fundamentally, this scaling reflects the curvature of the local potential energy landscape. Attribute and object (A-O) disentanglement is a fundamental and critical problem for Compositional Zero-shot Learning (CZSL), whose aim is to recognize novel A-O compositions based on foregone knowledge. Existing methods based on disentangled representation learning lose sight of the contextual dependency between the A-O primitive pairs. Inspired by this, we propose a novel A-O disentangled framework for CZSL, namely Class-specified Cascaded Network (CSCNet). The key insight is to firstly classify one primitive and then specifies the predicted class as a priori for guiding another primitive recognition in a cascaded fashion. To this end, CSCNet constructs Attribute-to-Object and Object-to-Attribute cascaded branches, in addition to a composition branch modeling the two primitives as a whole. Notably, we devise a parametric classifier (ParamCls) to improve the matching between visual and semantic embeddings. We study the single parton fragmentation functions (FFs) at the input factorization scale $\mu_0\gtrsim 2m_Q$, with heavy quark mass $m_Q$, in the soft gluon factorization (SGF) approach. We express the FFs in terms of perturbatively calculable short distance hard parts for producing a heavy quark-antiquark pair in all possible states, convoluted with corresponding soft gluon distribution for the hadronization of the pair to a heavy quarkonium. We compute the perturbative short distance hard parts for producing a heavy quark pair in all possible $S$-wave and $P$-wave states up to $O(\alpha_s^2)$. This study investigates leveraging stochastic gradient descent (SGD) to learn operators between general Hilbert spaces. We propose weak and strong regularity conditions for the target operator to depict its intrinsic structure and complexity. Under these conditions, we establish upper bounds for convergence rates of the SGD algorithm and conduct a minimax lower bound analysis, further illustrating that our convergence analysis and regularity conditions quantitatively characterize the tractability of solving operator learning problems using the SGD algorithm. It is crucial to highlight that our convergence analysis is still valid for nonlinear operator learning. We show that the SGD estimator will converge to the best linear approximation of the nonlinear target operator. Moreover, applying our analysis to operator learning problems based on vector-valued and real-valued reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces yields new convergence results, thereby refining the conclusions of existing literature., Comment: 56 pages

Heavy neutral leptons $N$ are the most appealing candidates to generate the tiny neutrino masses. In this paper, we study the signature of heavy neutral leptons in gauged $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ at a muon collider. Charged under the $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ symmetry, the heavy neutral leptons can be pair produced via the new gauge boson $Z'$ at muon collider as $\mu^+\mu^-\to Z^{\prime *}\to NN$ and $\mu^+\mu^-\to Z^{\prime (*)} \gamma\to NN\gamma$. We then perform a detailed analysis on the lepton number violation signature $\mu^+\mu^-\to NN\to \mu^\pm\mu^\pm W^\mp W^\mp$ and $\mu^+\mu^-\to NN \gamma\to \mu^\pm\mu^\pm W^\mp W^\mp \gamma$ at the 3 TeV muon collider, where the hadronic decays of $W$ boson are treated as fat-jets $J$. These lepton number violation signatures have quite clean backgrounds at the muon collider. Our simulation shows that a wide range of viable parameter space is within the reach of the 3 TeV muon collider. For instance, with new gauge coupling $g'=0.6$ and an integrated luminosity of 1000 fb$^{-1}$, the $\mu^\pm\mu^\pm JJ$ signal could probe $m_{Z'}\lesssim 12.5$ TeV. ENN Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. (ENN) is committed to generating fusion energy in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner, which requires abundant aneutronic fuel. Proton-boron ( p-$^{11}$B or p-B) fusion is considered an ideal choice for this purpose. Recent studies have suggested that p-B fusion, although challenging, is feasible based on new cross-section data, provided that a hot ion mode and high wall reflection can be achieved to reduce electron radiation loss. The high beta and good confinement of the spherical torus (ST) make it an ideal candidate for p-B fusion. By utilizing the new spherical torus energy confinement scaling law, a reactor with a major radius $R_0=4$ m, central magnetic field $B_0=6$ T, central temperature $T_{i0}=150$ keV, plasma current $I_p=30$ MA, and hot ion mode $T_i/T_e=4$ can yield p-B fusion with $Q>10$. A roadmap for p-B fusion has been developed, with the next-generation device named EHL-2. EHL stands for ENN He-Long, which literally means ``peaceful Chinese Loong". The main target parameters include $R_0\simeq1.05$ m, $A\simeq1.85$, $B_0\simeq3$ T, $T_{i0}\simeq30$ keV, $I_p\simeq3$ MA, and $T_i/T_e\geq2$. The existing ST device EXL-50 was simultaneously upgraded to provide experimental support for the new roadmap, involving the installation and upgrading of the central solenoid, vacuum chamber, and magnetic systems. The construction of the upgraded ST fusion device, EXL-50U, was completed at the end of 2023, and it achieved its first plasma in January 2024. In this paper, we introduce Kun, a novel approach for creating high-quality instruction-tuning datasets for large language models (LLMs) without relying on manual annotations. Adapting a self-training algorithm based on instruction back-translation and answer polishment, Kun leverages unlabelled data from diverse sources such as Wudao, Wanjuan, and SkyPile to generate a substantial dataset of over a million Chinese instructional data points. This approach significantly deviates from traditional methods by using a self-curation process to refine and select the most effective instruction-output pairs. Our experiments with the 6B-parameter Yi model across various benchmarks demonstrate Kun's robustness and scalability. Our method's core contributions lie in its algorithmic advancement, which enhances data retention and clarity, and its innovative data generation approach that substantially reduces the reliance on costly and time-consuming manual annotations. The residual gas damping of the test mass (TM) in the free molecular flow regime is studied in the finite open systems for high-precision gravity-related experiments. Through strict derivation, we separate the damping coefficients for two finite open systems, i.e., the bi-plate system and the sensor core system, into base damping and diffusion damping. This elucidates the relationship between the free damping in the infinite gas volume and the proximity damping in the constrained volume, unifies them into one microscopic picture, and allows us to point out three pathways of energy dissipation in the bi-plate gap. We also provide the conditions that need to be met to achieve this separation. In applications, for space gravitational wave detection, our results for the residual gas damping coefficient for the 4TM torsion balance experiment is the closest one to the experimental and simulation data compared to previous models. For the LISA mission, our estimation for residual gas acceleration noise at the sensitive axis is consistent with the simulation result, within about $5\%$ difference. In addition, in the test of the gravitational inverse-square law, our results suggest that the constraint on the distance between TM and the conducting membrane can be reduced by about $28\%$.

Multi-photon dynamics beyond linear optical materials are of significant fundamental and technological importance in quantum information processing. However, it remains largely unexplored in nonlinear waveguide QED. In this work, we theoretically propose a structured nonlinear waveguide in the presence of staggered photon-photon interactions, which supports two branches of gaped bands for doublons (i.e., spatially bound-photon-pair states). In contrast to linear waveguide QED systems, we identify two important contributions to its dynamical evolution, i.e., single-photon bound states (SPBSs) and doublon bound states (DBSs). Most remarkably, the nonlinear waveguide can mediate the long-range four-body interactions between two emitter pairs, even in the presence of disturbance from SPBS. By appropriately designing system's parameters, we can achieve high-fidelity four-body Rabi oscillations mediated only by virtual doublons in DBSs. Recent advances in planar optics with geometric-phase superstructures have brought a new paradigm in the control of structured light and, in particular, has substantially enhanced the capabilities of generating and detecting orbital angular momentum (OAM) states of light and associated spatial modes. However, the structured modal interface that can reciprocally link OAM states via adiabatic control and access-associated higher-order geometric phase remains absent in planar optics. In this work, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a planar optical astigmatic retarder fabricated with liquid-crystal (LC) geometric phase. The LC superstructure was designed with the principle of fractional Fourier transformation and is capable of reciprocal conversion between all possible OAM states on the same modal sphere. Such a planar device paves the way towards an easily deployed modal interface of paraxial OAM states, unlocks the resource of higher-order geometric phase, and has promising applications in high-dimensional classical/quantum information.

Since the diffraction behavior of a light field is fully determined by its spatial wavefunction, i.e., its spatial complex amplitude (SCA), full characterization of spatial wavefunction, plays a vital role in modern optics from both the fundamental and applied aspects. In this work, we present a novel complex-amplitude profiler based on spatial Stokes tomography with the capability to fully determine the SCA of a light field in a single shot with high precision and resolution. The SCA slice observed at any propagation plane provides complete information about the light field, thus allowing us to further retrieve the complete beam structure in 3 dimensions space, as well as the exact modal constitution in terms of spatial degrees of freedom. The principle demonstrated here provides an important advancement for the full characterization of light beams with a broad spectrum of potential applications in various areas of optics, especially for the growing field of structured light.

We report the confirmation of a sub-Saturn-size exoplanet, TOI-1194 b with a mass about $0.456_{-0.051}^{+0.055}$ $M_{J}$, and a very low mass companion star with a mass of about $96.5\pm1.5$ $M_J$, TOI-1251 B. Exoplanet candidates provided by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) are suitable for further follow-up observations by ground-based telescopes with small and medium apertures. The analysis is performed based on data from several telescopes worldwide, including telescopes in the Sino-German multiband photometric campaign, which aimed at confirming TESS Objects of Interest (TOIs) using ground-based small-aperture and medium-aperture telescopes, especially for long-period targets. TOI-1194 b is confirmed based on the consistent periodic transits depths from the multiband photometric data. We measure an orbital period of $2.310644\pm0.000001$ d, and radius is $0.767_{-0.041}^{+0.045}$ $R_J$, and amplitude of RV curve is $69.4_{-7.3}^{+7.9}$ m/s. TOI-1251 B is confirmed based on the multiband photometric and high-resolution spectroscopic data, whose orbiting period is $5.963054_{-0.000001}^{+0.000002}$ d, the radius is $0.947_{-0.033}^{+0.035}$ $R_J$, and amplitude of RV curve is $9849_{-40}^{+42}$ m/s., Comment: 28 pages, 8 figures, Accepted by RAA on Oct. 18th, 2023

Despite tremendous improvements in natural language generation, summarization models still suffer from the unfaithfulness issue. Previous work evaluates faithfulness either using models trained on the other tasks or in-domain synthetic data, or prompting a large model such as ChatGPT. This paper proposes to do zero-shot faithfulness evaluation simply with a moderately-sized foundation language model. We introduce a new metric FFLM, which is a combination of probability changes based on the intuition that prefixing a piece of text that is consistent with the output will increase the probability of predicting the output. Experiments show that FFLM performs competitively with or even outperforms ChatGPT on both inconsistency detection and faithfulness rating with 24x fewer parameters. The quadratic complexity of the attention module makes it gradually become the bulk of compute in Transformer-based LLMs during generation. Moreover, the excessive key-value cache that arises when dealing with long inputs also brings severe issues on memory footprint and inference latency. In this work, we propose a plug-and-play approach that is able to incrementally compress the intermediate activation of a specified span of tokens into compact ones, thereby reducing both memory and computational cost when processing subsequent context. Experiments on both in-domain language modeling and zero-shot open-ended document generation demonstrate the advantage of our approach over sparse attention baselines in terms of fluency, n-gram matching, and semantic similarity. At last, we comprehensively profile the benefit of context compression on improving the system throughout. We attempt to present an unified description of the light meson spectra and the light diquark spectra by applying the Regge trajectory approach. However, we find that the direct application of the linear Regge trajectory formula for the light mesons and baryons fails. To address this issue, we fit the experimental data of light meson spectra and the light diquark spectra obtained by other theoretical approaches. By considering the light quark mass and the parameter $C$ in the Cornell potential, we provide a provisional Regge trajectory formula. We also crudely estimate the masses of the light diquarks $(ud)$, $(us)$, and $(ss)$, and find that they agree with other theoretical results. The diquark Regge trajectory not only becomes a new and very simple approach for estimating the spectra of the light diquarks, but also can explicitly show the behavior of the masses with respect to $l$ or $n_r$. Click-through rate (CTR) prediction is a critical task in recommendation systems, serving as the ultimate filtering step to sort items for a user. Most recent cutting-edge methods primarily focus on investigating complex implicit and explicit feature interactions; however, these methods neglect the spurious correlation issue caused by confounding factors, thereby diminishing the model's generalization ability. We propose a CTR prediction framework that REmoves Spurious cORrelations in mulTilevel feature interactions, termed RE-SORT, which has two key components. I. A multilevel stacked recurrent (MSR) structure enables the model to efficiently capture diverse nonlinear interactions from feature spaces at different levels. II. A spurious correlation elimination (SCE) module further leverages Laplacian kernel mapping and sample reweighting methods to eliminate the spurious correlations concealed within the multilevel features, allowing the model to focus on the true causal features. Extensive experiments conducted on four challenging CTR datasets and our production dataset demonstrate that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance in both accuracy and speed. Knowledge distillation (KD) is used to enhance automatic speaker verification performance by ensuring consistency between large teacher networks and lightweight student networks at the embedding level or label level. However, the conventional label-level KD overlooks the significant knowledge from non-target speakers, particularly their classification probabilities, which can be crucial for automatic speaker verification. In this paper, we first demonstrate that leveraging a larger number of training non-target speakers improves the performance of automatic speaker verification models. Inspired by this finding about the importance of non-target speakers' knowledge, we modified the conventional label-level KD by disentangling and emphasizing the classification probabilities of non-target speakers during knowledge distillation. The proposed method is applied to three different student model architectures and achieves an average of 13.67% improvement in EER on the VoxCeleb dataset compared to embedding-level and conventional label-level KD methods., Comment: Accepted by ICASSP 2024

Dual-path is a popular architecture for speech separation models (e.g. Sepformer) which splits long sequences into overlapping chunks for its intra- and inter-blocks that separately model intra-chunk local features and inter-chunk global relationships. However, it has been found that inter-blocks, which comprise half a dual-path model's parameters, contribute minimally to performance. Thus, we propose the Single-Path Global Modulation (SPGM) block to replace inter-blocks. SPGM is named after its structure consisting of a parameter-free global pooling module followed by a modulation module comprising only 2% of the model's total parameters. The SPGM block allows all transformer layers in the model to be dedicated to local feature modelling, making the overall model single-path. SPGM achieves 22.1 dB SI-SDRi on WSJ0-2Mix and 20.4 dB SI-SDRi on Libri2Mix, exceeding the performance of Sepformer by 0.5 dB and 0.3 dB respectively and matches the performance of recent SOTA models with up to 8 times fewer parameters. Heart auscultations are a low-cost and effective way of detecting valvular heart diseases early, which can save lives. Nevertheless, it has been difficult to scale this screening method since the effectiveness of auscultations is dependent on the skill of doctors. As such, there has been increasing research interest in the automatic classification of heart sounds using deep learning algorithms. However, it is currently difficult to develop good heart sound classification models due to the limited data available for training. In this work, we propose a simple time domain approach, to the heart sound classification problem with a base classification error rate of 0.8 and show that augmentation of the data through codec simulation can improve the classification error rate to 0.2. With data augmentation, our approach outperforms the existing time-domain CNN-BiLSTM baseline model. Despite recent strides made in Speech Separation, most models are trained on datasets with neutral emotions. Emotional speech has been known to degrade performance of models in a variety of speech tasks, which reduces the effectiveness of these models when deployed in real-world scenarios. In this paper we perform analysis to differentiate the performance degradation arising from the emotions in speech from the impact of out-of-domain inference. This is measured using a carefully designed test dataset, Emo2Mix, consisting of balanced data across all emotional combinations. We show that even models with strong out-of-domain performance such as Sepformer can still suffer significant degradation of up to 5.1 dB SI-SDRi on mixtures with strong emotions. Giant atoms, where the dipole approximation ceases to be valid, allow us to observe unconventional quantum optical phenomena arising from interference and time-delay effects. Most previous studies consider giant atoms coupling to conventional materials with right-handed dispersion. In this study, we first investigate the quantum dynamics of a giant atom interacting with left-handed superlattice metamaterials. Different from those right-handed counterparts, the left-handed superlattices exhibit an asymmetric band gap generated by anomalous dispersive bands and Bragg scattering bands. First, by assuming that the giant atom is in resonance with the continuous dispersive energy band, spontaneous emission will undergo periodic enhancement or suppression due to the interference effect. At the resonant position, there is a significant discrepancy in the spontaneous decay rates between the upper and lower bands, which arises from the differences in group velocity. Second, we explore the non-Markovian dynamics of the giant atom by considering the frequency of the emitter outside the energy band, where bound states will be induced by the interference between two coupling points. By employing both analytical and numerical methods, we demonstrate that the steady atomic population will be periodically modulated, driven by variations in the size of the giant atom. The presence of asymmetric band edges leads to diverse interference dynamics. Finally, we consider the case of two identical emitters coupling to the waveguide and find that the energy within the two emitters undergoes exchange through the mechanism Rabi oscillations., Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures

Neural-network quantum states (NQSs), variationally optimized by combining traditional methods and deep learning techniques, is a new way to find quantum many-body ground states and gradually becomes a competitor of traditional variational methods. However, there are still some difficulties in the optimization of NQSs, such as local minima, slow convergence, and sign structure optimization. Here, we split a quantum many-body variational wave function into a multiplication of a real-valued amplitude neural network and a sign structure, and focus on the optimization of the amplitude network while keeping the sign structure fixed. The amplitude network is a convolutional neural network (CNN) with residual blocks, namely a ResNet. Our method is tested on three typical quantum many-body systems. The obtained ground state energies are lower than or comparable to those from traditional variational Monte Carlo (VMC) methods and density matrix renormalization group (DMRG). Surprisingly, for the frustrated Heisenberg $J_1$-$J_2$ model, our results are better than those of the complex-valued CNN in the literature, implying that the sign structure of the complex-valued NQS is difficult to be optimized. We attempt to apply the Regge trajectory approach to the heavy-light diquarks composed of one heavy quark and one light quark. However, we find that the direct application of the usual Regge trajectory formula for the heavy-light mesons and baryons fails. In order to correctly estimate the masses of the heavy-light diquarks, it is needed to consider the light quark mass correction and the parameter $C$ in the Cornell potential within the Regge trajectory formula. By using the modified Regge trajectory formulas, we are able to estimate the masses of the heavy-light diquarks $(cu)$, $(cs)$, $(bu)$ and $(bs)$, which agree with other theoretical results. It is illustrated that the heavy-light diquarks satisfy the universal descriptions irrespective of heavy quark flavors, similar to other heavy-light systems such as the heavy-light mesons, the heavy-light baryons composed of one heavy quark (diquark) and one light diquark (quark), and the heavy-light tetraquarks composed of one heavy diquark (antidiquark) and one light antidiquark (diquark). The task of lane detection has garnered considerable attention in the field of autonomous driving due to its complexity. Lanes can present difficulties for detection, as they can be narrow, fragmented, and often obscured by heavy traffic. However, it has been observed that the lanes have a geometrical structure that resembles a straight line, leading to improved lane detection results when utilizing this characteristic. To address this challenge, we propose a hierarchical Deep Hough Transform (DHT) approach that combines all lane features in an image into the Hough parameter space. Additionally, we refine the point selection method and incorporate a Dynamic Convolution Module to effectively differentiate between lanes in the original image. Our network architecture comprises a backbone network, either a ResNet or Pyramid Vision Transformer, a Feature Pyramid Network as the neck to extract multi-scale features, and a hierarchical DHT-based feature aggregation head to accurately segment each lane. By utilizing the lane features in the Hough parameter space, the network learns dynamic convolution kernel parameters corresponding to each lane, allowing the Dynamic Convolution Module to effectively differentiate between lane features. Subsequently, the lane features are fed into the feature decoder, which predicts the final position of the lane. Our proposed network structure demonstrates improved performance in detecting heavily occluded or worn lane images, as evidenced by our extensive experimental results, which show that our method outperforms or is on par with state-of-the-art techniques.

Photon-number resolving detectors with hundreds of pixels are now readily available, while the characterization of these detectors using detector tomography is computationally intensive. Here, we present a modified detector tomography model that reduces the number of variables that need optimization. To evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of our model, we reconstruct the photon number distribution of optical coherent and thermal states using the expectation-maximization-entropy algorithm. Our results indicate that the fidelity of the reconstructed states remains above 99%, and the second and third-order correlations agree well with the theoretical values for a mean number of photons up to 100. We also investigate the computational resources required for detector tomography and find out that our approach reduces the solving time by around a half compared to the standard detector tomography approach, and the required memory resources are the main obstacle for detector tomography of a large number of pixels. Our results suggest that detector tomography is viable on a supercomputer with 1~TB RAM for detectors with up to 340 pixels.

With the advancement of multimedia internet, the impact of visual characteristics on the decision of users to click or not within the online retail industry is increasingly significant. Thus, incorporating visual features is a promising direction for further performance improvements in click-through rate (CTR). However, experiments on our production system revealed that simply injecting the image embeddings trained with established pre-training methods only has marginal improvements. We believe that the main advantage of existing image feature pre-training methods lies in their effectiveness for cross-modal predictions. However, this differs significantly from the task of CTR prediction in recommendation systems. In recommendation systems, other modalities of information (such as text) can be directly used as features in downstream models. Even if the performance of cross-modal prediction tasks is excellent, it is challenging to provide significant information gain for the downstream models. We argue that a visual feature pre-training method tailored for recommendation is necessary for further improvements beyond existing modality features. To this end, we propose an effective user intention reconstruction module to mine visual features related to user interests from behavior histories, which constructs a many-to-one correspondence. We further propose a contrastive training method to learn the user intentions and prevent the collapse of embedding vectors. We conduct extensive experimental evaluations on public datasets and our production system to verify that our method can learn users' visual interests. Our method achieves $0.46\%$ improvement in offline AUC and $0.88\%$ improvement in Taobao GMV (Cross Merchandise Volume) with p-value$<$0.01.

Research has shown that deep networks tend to be overly optimistic about their predictions, leading to an underestimation of prediction errors. Due to the limited nature of data, existing studies have proposed various methods based on model prediction probabilities to bin the data and evaluate calibration error. We propose a more generalized definition of calibration error called Partitioned Calibration Error (PCE), revealing that the key difference among these calibration error metrics lies in how the data space is partitioned. We put forth an intuitive proposition that an accurate model should be calibrated across any partition, suggesting that the input space partitioning can extend beyond just the partitioning of prediction probabilities, and include partitions directly related to the input. Through semantic-related partitioning functions, we demonstrate that the relationship between model accuracy and calibration lies in the granularity of the partitioning function. This highlights the importance of partitioning criteria for training a calibrated and accurate model. To validate the aforementioned analysis, we propose a method that involves jointly learning a semantic aware grouping function based on deep model features and logits to partition the data space into subsets. Subsequently, a separate calibration function is learned for each subset. Universal robust quantum control is essential for performing complex quantum algorithms and efficient quantum error correction protocols. Geometric phase, as a key element with intrinsic fault-tolerant feature, can be well integrated into quantum control processes to enhance control robustness. However, the current geometric quantum control is still controversial in robust universality, which leads to the unsatisfactory result that cannot sufficiently enhance the robustness of arbitrary type of geometric gate. In this study, we find that the finite choice on geometric evolution trajectory is one of the main roots that constrain the control robustness of previous geometric schemes, as it is unable to optionally avoid some trajectory segments that are seriously affected by systematic errors. In view of this, we here propose a new scheme for universal robust geometric control based on geometric trajectory correction, where enough available evolution parameters are introduced to ensure that the effective correction against systematic errors can be executed. From the results of our numerical simulation, arbitrary type of geometric gate implemented by using the corrected geometric trajectory has absolute robustness advantages over conventional quantum one. In addition, we also verify the feasibility of the high-fidelity physical implementation of our scheme in superconducting quantum circuit, and finally discuss in detail the potential researches based on our scheme.
