In order to solve the problem of mine water surge prediction, we introduce deep learning theory, combine long short-term memory network (LSTM) and gated circulation unit (GRU), select mine water surge as the research object, and establish a mine water surge prediction model based on LSTM-GRU. Taking the mine water inflow of a mine in Shaanxi Province as sample data, the data set was divided into a training set and a test set using a 7∶3 ratio, and the gradient descent algorithm with good model training effect was selected to determine the network model parameters and regularization parameters. In order to prove the prediction accuracy of the LSTM-GRU model, the prediction results were compared with those obtained by the traditional ARIMA model and the LSTM model to predict mine water gusher, respectively. The results show that: the mean absolute percentage error (RMSE), root mean square error (MAE), mean absolute error (MAPE) and coefficient of determination (R2) of the LSTM-GRU composite model are 70.51, 53.4, 2.80% and 0.86, indicating that the model has high prediction accuracy and reliability. The prediction effect is better than the traditional ARIMA model and LSTM model.

Abstract Landslides are highly destructive geological disasters that pose a serious threat to the safety of people’s lives and property. In this study, historical records of landslides in Yunnan Province, along with eight underlying factors of landslide (elevation, slope, aspect, lithology, land cover type, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), soil type, and average annual precipitation (AAP)), as well as historical rainfall and current rainfall data were utilized. Firstly, we analyzed the sensitivity of each underlying factor in the study area using the frequency ratio (FR) method and obtained a landslide susceptibility map (LSM). Then, we constructed a regional rainfall-induced landslides (RIL) probability forecasting model based on machine learning (ML) algorithms and divided warning levels. In order to construct a better RIL prediction model and explore the effects of different ML algorithms and input values of the underlying factor on the model, we compared five ML classification algorithms: extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR), and random forest (RF) algorithms and three representatives of the input values of the underlying factors. The results show that among the obtained forecasting models, the LSM-based RF model performs the best, with an accuracy (ACC) of 0.906, an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.954, a probability of detection (POD) of 0.96 in the test set, and a prediction accuracy of 0.8 in the validation set. Therefore, we recommend using RF-LSM model as the RIL forecasting model for Yunnan Province and dividing warning levels.

Abstract Low visibility weather easily leads to traffic accidents, posing threats to human life and property. To accurately forecast visibility, we conduct an empirical study focusing on Jiangsu Province. Firstly, we collect the monitoring data from meteorological stations and environmental stations for 2017-2018. Secondly, we analyze the changes in visibility from both spatial and temporal perspectives. Next, the maximum Relevance Minimum Redundancy (mRMR) algorithm is employed to select factors affecting visibility, finding that humidity and $$PM_{2.5}$$ P M 2.5 concentrations are the primary factors. Finally, we propose GCN-GRU (Graph Convolutional Network and Gated Recurrent Unit) model for short-term visibility forecasting, which employs GCN to capture the interactions between stations and uses GRU to learn the interactions between times. Experimental results indicate that GCN-GRU outperforms the standalone GRU model and three machine learning models regarding 6-hour visibility forecasting. Compared to the best competitor, GCN-GRU achieves an average increase of 3.32% in Correlation Coefficient (CORR), a decrease of 17.52% in Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), a reduction of 26.62% in Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), and a decline of 16.53% in Mean Absolute Error (MAE).

Enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) is the only approved disease-modifying treatment modality for Pompe disease, a rare, inherited metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency in the acid α-glucosidase (GAA) enzyme that catabolizes lysosomal glycogen. First-generation recombinant human GAA (rhGAA) ERT (alglucosidase alfa) can slow the progressive muscle degeneration characteristic of the disease. Still, most patients experience diminished efficacy over time, possibly because of poor uptake into target tissues. Next-generation ERTs aim to address this problem by increasing bis-phosphorylated high mannose (bis-M6P) N-glycans on rhGAA as these moieties have sufficiently high receptor binding affinity at the resultant low interstitial enzyme concentrations after dosing to drive uptake by the cation-independent mannose 6-phosphate receptor on target cells. However, some approaches introduce bis-M6P onto rhGAA via non-natural linkages that cannot be hydrolyzed by natural human enzymes and thus inhibit the endolysosomal glycan trimming necessary for complete enzyme activation after cell uptake. Furthermore, all rhGAA ERTs face potential inactivation during intravenous delivery (and subsequent non-productive clearance) as GAA is an acid hydrolase that is rapidly denatured in the near-neutral pH of the blood. One new therapy, cipaglucosidase alfa plus miglustat, is hypothesized to address these challenges by combining an enzyme enriched with naturally occurring bis-M6P N-glycans with a small-molecule stabilizer. Here, we investigate this hypothesis by analyzing published and new data related to the mechanism of action of the enzyme and stabilizer molecule. Based on an extensive collection of in vitro, preclinical, and clinical data, we conclude that cipaglucosidase alfa plus miglustat successfully addresses each of these challenges to offer meaningful advantages in terms of pharmacokinetic exposure, target-cell uptake, endolysosomal processing, and clinical benefit.

Abstract This study focuses on the Yongqiao District in Suzhou City, Anhui Province, China, aiming to analyze the current situation of ground settlement and its influencing factors in the area. The selected risk indices include settlement rate, cumulative settlement amount, groundwater level drop funnel, thickness of loose sediment layer, thickness of soft soil layer, and the number of groundwater extraction layers. Additionally, vulnerability indices such as population density, building density, road traffic, and functional zoning are considered. An evaluation index system for assessing land Subsidence risk was established. The risk evaluation of land Subsidence was conducted using the Hierarchical analysis-composite index method and ArcGIS spatial analysis, The evaluation results show that the area of higher risk area is about 2.82 km2, accounting for 0.96% of the total area, mainly distributed in the area of Jiuli village, Sanba Street. The middle risk area is distributed around the higher area, with an area of about 9.18 km2, accounting for 3.13% of the total area. The lower risk areas were distributed in most of the study area, covering an area of 222.24 km2, accounting for 75.82% of the total area. The low risk assessment area is mainly distributed in Bianhe Street and part of Zhuxianzhuang Town, with an area of about 58.88 km2, accounting for 20.09% of the total area. The findings of this study are not only crucial for informing local policies and practices related to land use planning, infrastructure development, and emergency response but also enhance our understanding of the complexities of land Subsidence processes and their interactions with human activities, informing future research and practice in environmental risk assessment and management.

Abstract Objective This retrospective study aimed to assess the impact of hysteroscopic septum incision on in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes among infertile women diagnosed with a complete septate uterus and no history of recurrent pregnancy loss. Methods The study was conducted at a tertiary reproductive center affiliated with a university hospital and involved 78 women with a complete septate uterus. Among them, 34 women underwent hysteroscopic septum incision, while 44 women opted for expectant management. The primary outcome measure was the live birth rate, while secondary outcomes included clinical pregnancy rate, preterm birth rate, miscarriage rate, and ongoing pregnancy rate. Results Women who underwent hysteroscopic septum incision demonstrated a comparable likelihood of achieving a live birth compared to those managed expectantly (25% vs. 25%, Relative Risk (RR): 1.000, 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 0.822 to 1.216). No preterm births occurred in either group. The clinical pregnancy rate, ongoing pregnancy rate, and miscarriage rate showed no significant differences between the surgical group and the expectant management group. Subgroup analyses based on the type of embryo transferred also revealed no significant differences in outcomes. Conclusions Hysteroscopic septum incision does not appear to yield improved IVF outcomes compared to expectant management in infertile women with a complete septate uterus and no history of recurrent pregnancy loss.

Abstract Objective To study the impact of congenital uterine anomalies on reproductive outcomes after in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)-embryo transfer (ET). Methods A retrospective study including a total of 865women with congenital uterine anomalies and 865 age and admission time matched controls who underwent the first IVF/ICSI-ET cycle between January 2010 and December 2019 was conducted. Women with uterine anomalies were classified into canalization defect (complete septate uterus and subseptate uterus) and unification defect (unicornuate uterus, bicornuate uterus, and didelphus uterus) according to the processes of abnormal embryological development. Control women were selected by age (± 1.0 year) and admission time (± 6 months) matched with a 1:1 ratio. The reproductive outcomes were compared between women with uterine anomalies and the controls. The primary outcome was live birth; secondary outcomes were clinical pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, preterm delivery, and spontaneous pregnancy loss. In the context of global joint response to climate change, the air transport industry faces great pressure on carbon emission reduction. Carbon reduction in design and manufacturing of civil aircraft products is the core approach to realizing net zero emission in the aviation industry. Conducting research on green and low-carbon development of the aviation manufacturing industry is crucial for the carbon peaking and carbon neutralization of China’s air transport industry. This study analyzes the demand for low-carbon development from three aspects: satisfying the future mandatory standards for carbon emissions, developing new energy technologies, and promoting sustainable development of the aviation industry. The current status of design, material application, and manufacturing of civil aircraft products in China and abroad is investigated. Major problems faced by the industry is examined. This study focuses on improving the environmental protection competitiveness of civil aircraft products and reducing energy consumption during manufacturing, and proposes the carbon reduction potentials and staged goals for major technologies in the aviation manufacturing industry. The development routes are proposed from three technical aspects: green design, materials, and manufacturing of aircrafts. Furthermore, regulatory measures are proposed from the aspects of top-level planning, advanced technology research and development, industrial chain coordination, and carbon compensation and trading.

ObjectiveTo determine whether the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) Val66Met polymorphism is associated with cognitive impairment (CI) in community-dwelling Chinese older adults, and to investigate whether this relationship is modified by the Apolipoprotein E (APOE) ɛ4 allele.MethodsThe study is a secondary analysis of 703 participants aged ≥60 years randomly enrolled from the Beijing Longitudinal Study of Aging II prospective cohort. The education-adjusted Mini-Mental State Examination and the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale were used to measure the cognitive performance of the subjects. The main effects and interactions (additive and multiplicative) of the BDNF Met and the APOE ε4 alleles on CI were estimated by logistic regression models.ResultsIn total, 84 out of 703 older adults aged ≥60 years old had CI. No significant difference was observed in the risk of CI between participants with the BDNF Met allele and that of subjects without the BDNF Met allele (p = 0.213; p = 0.164). Individuals carrying both the BDNF Met and APOE ε4 alleles had an almost 1.5-fold increased odds of CI compared with carriers of the BDNF Met allele but without the APOE ε4 allele. The additive association indicated a positive interaction of both BDNF Met and APOE ε4 alleles with wide CIs (p = 0.021; p = 0.018).ConclusionThe results suggest that the APOE ε4 allele may be a potential modifier for the association of the BDNF Val66Met polymorphism with CI in community-dwelling older adults.

The effects of plant protein sources (PPSs) on the health of the liver and intestine of the largemouth bass, Micropterus salmoides, were compared to verify the potential damaging effects of dietary fiber (DF). A diet containing 55% fish meal (FM) was used as the control. The test diets contained 25% soybean meal (SBM), rapeseed meal (RSM), cottonseed meal, or peanut meal, and the FM content was decreased to 30%. The protein and lipid contents of these five diets were balanced by casein and oil. Fish were raised for 8 weeks. The fish fed the diet containing PPS showed a trend of decreasing growth and apparent digestibility coefficients. The contents of total bile acid, lipid, and collagen in the liver were increased, and the mRNA expression levels of genes encoding inflammatory factors and enzymes involved in de novo fatty acid synthesis and bile acid synthesis were upregulated. Both the lipid and collagen contents in the liver were positively correlated with the DF content in the diet significantly. Morphology and histology showed reduced liver size, hepatic steatosis, and fibrosis in fish fed diets containing PPS. The lowest hepatosomatic index was observed in fish fed the SBM diet, and the most severe damage was observed in fish fed the RSM diet. No obvious histological abnormalities were observed in the hindgut. The bile acid profile in the liver could be used to distinguish the types of PPS very well by Fisher discriminant analysis. These results indicated that 25% of each of the four PPSs in the diet exceeded the tolerance range of largemouth bass and caused liver damage, which might be mediated by bile acid. DF in PPS might be an important agent contributing to liver damage.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have demonstrated the potential to enhance the saline-alkali tolerance in plants. Nevertheless, the extent to which AMF can ameliorate the tolerance of salt-sensitive plants to alkaline conditions necessitates further investigation. The current study is primarily centered on elucidating the impact of AMF on the growth of the Huayu22 (H22) when cultivated in saline-alkaline soil. We leveraged DNA of rhizosphere microorganisms extracted from saline-alkali soil subjected to AMF treatment and conducted high-throughput sequencing encompassing 16S rRNA gene and ITS sequencing. Our findings from high-throughput sequencing unveiled Proteobacteria and Bacillus as the prevailing phylum and genus within the bacterial population, respectively. Likewise, the predominant fungal phylum and genus were identified as Ascomycota and Haematonectria. It is noteworthy that the relative abundance of Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Bacteroidetes, and Ascomycota exhibited significant increments subsequent to AMF inoculation. Our investigation into soil enzyme activity revealed a remarkable surge post-AMF inoculation. Notably, the amounts of pathogen growth inhibitory enzymes and organic carbon degrading enzymes rise, as predicted by the putative roles of microbial communities. In saline-alkali soil, inoculation of AMF did boost the yield of H22. Notable improvements were observed in the weight of both 100 fruits and 100 grains, which increased by 20.02% and 22.30%, respectively. Conclusively, this study not only provides a theoretical framework but also furnishes empirical evidence supporting the utilization of AMF as a viable strategy for augmenting the yield of salt-sensitive plants grown in alkaline conditions.

This paper investigates a warm standby repairable retrial system with two types of components and a single repairman, where type 1 components have priority over type 2 in use. Failure and repair times for each type of component are assumed to be exponential distributions. The retrial feature is considered and the retrial time of each failed component is exponentially distributed. By using Markov process theory and matrix-analytic method, the system steady-state probabilities are derived, and the system steady-state availability and some steady-state performance indices are obtained. Using the Bayesian approach, the system parameters can be estimated. The cost-benefit ratio function of the system is constructed based on the failed components and repairman's states. Numerical experiments are given to evaluate the effect of each parameter on the system steady-state availability and optimize the system cost-benefit ratio with repair rate as a decision variable.

Shale is composed of a rock matrix and bedding planes with a layered structure, resulting in significant anisotropy in its mechanical properties. In order to study the anisotropic mechanical properties of shale, the shale samples were prepared in different orientations with respect to the bedding planes, and the composition and microstructure of shale were first analyzed by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), and then the uniaxial and triaxial compression experiment on shale samples with five different bedding angles (the angle between the loading direction and the normal direction of the bedding planes, 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°) were conducted under five confining pressures (0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 MPa), respectively; meanwhile, the acoustic emission (AE) test was carried out in the uniaxial test. The results indicate that the mechanical properties and parameters of shale have obvious anisotropy, and the AE characteristics of shale samples with different bedding angles are significantly different during uniaxial loading. Furthermore, the compressive strength and elastic modulus of the shale samples first decrease and then increase with the increase in the bedding angle under different confining pressures. Moreover, according to the anisotropic grade of compressive strength, the shale has moderate anisotropy. In addition, the failure mode of the shale samples is also anisotropic, and varies with the bedding angle and confining pressure.

The Qinling Mountains in East Asia serve as the geographical boundary between the north and south of China and are also indicative of climatic differences, resulting in rich ecological and species diversity. However, few studies have focused on the responses of plants to geological and climatic changes in the Qinling Mountains and adjacent regions. Therefore, we investigated the evolutionary origins and phylogenetic relationships of three Pedicularis species in there to provide molecular evidence for the origin and evolution of plant species. Ecological niche modeling was used to predict the geographic distributions of three Pedicularis species during the last interglacial period, the last glacial maximum period, and current and future periods, respectively. Furthermore, the distribution patterns of climate fluctuations and the niche dynamics framework were used to assess the equivalence or difference of niches among three Pedicularis species. The results revealed that the divergence of three Pedicularis species took place in the Miocene and Holocene periods, which was significantly associated with the large-scale uplifts of the Qinling Mountains and adjacent regions. In addition, the geographic distributions of three Pedicularis species have undergone a northward migration from the past to the future. The most important environmental variables affecting the geographic distributions of species were the mean diurnal range and annual mean temperature range. The niche divergence analysis suggested that the three Pedicularis species have similar ecological niches. Among them, P. giraldiana showed the highest niche breadth, covering nearly all of the climatic niche spaces of P. dissecta and P. bicolor. In summary, this study provides novel insights into the divergence and origins of three Pedicularis species and their responses to climate and geological changes in the Qinling Mountains and adjacent regions. The findings have also provided new perspectives for the conservation and management of Pedicularis species.

Penthorum chinense has been used in both food and medication for many years, and polysaccharide of which was considered as one of the bioactive compounds. However, the extraction process of polysaccharide from P. chinense (PCP) was not well optimized. Ultrasound-assisted extractionhas been widely employed in the extraction of natural products for its compliance with the concept of green and economic chemistry. To better investigate the structure and biology activity of PCP, response surface methodology was employed to optimize the ultrasound-assisted extraction conditions of PCP. The optimum extraction for the ultrasound-assisted extraction of PCP were obtained as ratio of solvent to material 40 mL/g, ultrasonic power 380 W, and extraction time of 50 min. The yield of PCP reached 8.71% under these optimized conditions. PCP was further purified by using anion exchange chromatography and gel filtration, an acidic fraction PCP-AP-1 was hereby obtained. The results of structural elucidation indicated that PCP-AP-1 was a typical pectic polysaccharide with a molecular weight of 66360 Da, mainly composed of galacturonic acid (68.5 mol%), followed by arabinose (9.8 mol%), rhamnose (9.4 mol%), glucose (7.7 mol%), with homogalacturonan region and rhamnogalacturonan I regions. In vitro study showed that PCP-AP-1 could improve the inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide in intestinal epithelial cells, which was probably performed through the inhibition of multiple signaling pathways including the inhibition of TLR4, NOD1/2 and NF-κB pathway, as well as the reduction of NLRP3 inflammasome. This study defined the type of polysaccharide present in P. chinense and revealed a potential of application this plant in the prevention of intestinal inflammatory diseases.

To make suggestions for future basic research and applied research directions.

This study utilizes the ECMWF ERA5 climate reanalysis database and data from the Southern China Transmission Lines Icing Observation System and applies the T-mode principal component analysis, an objective synoptic pattern classification method, to investigate synoptic characteristics associated with transmission line icing events in southern China between 2014 and 2021. The findings reveal that Southern China’s winter synoptic conditions can be categorized into four patterns, with the predominant pattern featuring a centrally located 850 hPa high-pressure system in Inner Mongolia’s western region. This pattern facilitates the convergence of northwesterly cold air from the north and southwesterly moisture from the south over southern China, resulting in balanced conditions conducive to transmission line icing. Furthermore, during a specific icing event in Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, in February 2022, the atmospheric stratification exhibited a distinctive “cold–warm–cold” structure with a pronounced inversion layer, characteristic of freezing and rainy weather conditions that create the requisite environment for transmission line icing. Within the dominant icing synoptic pattern, a northwesterly airflow transports cold air from central Siberia to southern China, accompanied by two primary low-level water vapor transport pathways: one originating as a southwest low-level jet carrying moisture from the Bay of Bengal to the Chinese mainland, and the other stemming from the South China Sea. These findings provide valuable insights into the synoptic conditions contributing to transmission line icing events in the region.

Red ginseng and Ophiopogon japonicus are both traditional Chinese medicines. They have also been used as food in China for thousands of years. These two herbs were frequently used in many traditional Chinese patent medicines. However, the carbohydrate compositions of these two herbs were not normally used during the production of said medicine, such as Shenmai injection, resulting in a large amount of waste composed of carbohydrates. In this study, the extraction conditions were optimized by response surface methodology. The Shenmai injection waste polysaccharide was extracted by using distilled water that was boiled under the optimized conditions. The Shenmai injection waste polysaccharide (SMP) was thereby obtained. SMP was further purified by anion exchange chromatography and gel filtration. With this method, a neutral polysaccharide fraction (SMP-NP) and an acidic polysaccharide fraction (SMP-AP) were obtained. The results of structure elucidation indicated that SMP-NP was a type of levan, and SMP-AP was a typical acidic polysaccharide. SMP-NP exhibited potential stimulation activity on the proliferation of five different Lactobacilli strains. Therefore, SMP-AP could promote the antioxidant defense of IPEC-J2 cells. These findings suggest that Shenmai injection waste could be used as a resource for prebiotics and antioxidants.

Objective To explore the effect of E3 ligase neuregulin receptor degradation protein 1 (Nrdp1) regulating macrophage polarization on the function of fibroblasts. Methods Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) were combined to induce mouse primary peritoneal macrophages to M1 macrophages (M1), and IL-13 was used to induce macrophages to M2 macrophages (M2). Then flow cytometry and Western blotting were used to detect M1 surface marker protein CD11c and its specific secretion inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and M2 surface marker protein CD206 and the secretion arginase 1 (Arg1). After the mouse macrophages was transfected with siRNA-Nrdp1 transiently for 24 h, the expression of Nrdp1 was detected by Western blotting. A Transwell co-culture system was established for macrophages and fibroblasts, and was induced under different conditions. The co-cultured cells were divided into LPS group (co-induction of LPS and IFN-γ), LPS-NC group (co-induction and siRNA of irrelevant sequence), LPS-siRNA-Nrdp1 group (co-induction of LPS and siRNA-Nrdp1), IL-13 group, IL-13-NC group and IL-13-siRNA-Nrdp1 group. After co-culture for 8, 12 and 24 h, CCK-8 assay was employed to detect the proliferation of fibroblasts, and ELISA to measure the contents of transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) and type Ⅰ procollagen. Analysis of variance of factorial designs and Bonferroni test were used for statistical analysis for the data. Results The proportion of CD11c positive cells was significantly higher in the LPS-induced macrophages than the non-induced cells (P < 0.05), and similar result was seen in the IL-13-induced macrophages for CD206 expression (P < 0.05). Western blot analysis indicated the levels of iNOS and Arg1 were obviously higher in the LPS- and IL-13-induced macrophages than the non-induced control cells, respectively (P < 0.01). Transient transfection of siRNA-Nrdp1 resulted in notably lower expression of Nrdp1 when compared with the blank control and negative control transfection (both P < 0.01). In the co-culture system for 24 h, CCK8 assay showed the count of fibroblasts was significantly lower in the IL-13-siRNA-Nrdp1 group than the IL-13 and IL-13-NC groups (P < 0.01), and ELISA indicated that the content of TGF-β1 was lower in the IL-13-siRNA-Nrdp1 group than the IL-13 and IL-13-NC groups (P < 0.01), and that of type Ⅰ procollagen was lower in the IL-13-siRNA-Nrdp1 group than the IL-13 groups (P < 0.01). Conclusion Interference of Nrdp1 synthesis by siRNA can affect the polarization of macrophages to M2 type, inhibit the proliferation of fibroblasts in the co-culture system of M2 type macrophages and fibroblasts, and reduce the TGF-β1 and type Ⅰ procollagen in the co-culture system.

Abstract Hydraulic fracturing is an important technical means to improve the development effect of low-permeability oil and gas reservoirs. However, for low pressure, low-permeability, tight, and high-clay sandstone gas reservoirs, conventional propped fracturing can cause serious damage to the reservoir and restrict the fracturing effect. The pre-acid fracturing technology combines acid treatment technology with sand-fracturing technology. A pre-acid system that meets special performance requirements is injected before fracturing. The pre-acid reduces the formation fracture pressure and removes clay damage. During acid flowback, the fracturing fluid is promoted to break the gel, dissolve the fracturing fluid residue and polymer filter cake, clean the supporting cracks, and effectively improve the fracturing effect. This study analyzes the process principle and technical advantages of the pre-acid fracturing technology based on the laboratory evaluation of the fracturing damage mechanism of low-permeability tight gas reservoirs. To meet the performance requirements of low-permeability tight gas reservoirs and pre-acid fracturing technology, a set of polyhydrogen acid system with long-lasting slow reactivity, low damage, and low corrosion was developed and used as the pre-fracturing acid. The acid system is mainly composed of the main agent SA601 and the auxiliary agent SA701. Then, on the basis of laboratory experiments, this acid system is used as the fracturing pre-acid to evaluate the fracturing improvement effect. The results show that the fracturing fluid system can better dissolve the fracturing fluid filter cake and remove the fracturing fluid damage.

Abstract In situ heat systems are a technology that effectively solves paraffin deposition and improves oil recovery. Generally, the oxidation–reduction reaction of sodium nitrite and ammonium chloride generates a large amount of heat to promote the melting of paraffin. An in situ heat system combined with an acid-resistant fracturing fluid system can form an in situ heat fracturing fluid system, which solves the problem of the poor reformation effect caused by cold damage during the fracturing process of low-pressure and high-pour-point oil reservoirs. In this paper, with the goals of system heating up to 50 °C, a low H+ concentration, a high exotherm, and reduction of the toxic and harmful by-product NOX, the preferred in situ heat system was found to comprise 1.6 mol/L ammonium chloride, 1.0 mol/L sodium nitrite, and 0.8% hydrochloric acid. The effect of five factors on the heat production of the reaction was studied experimentally, and a reaction kinetic equation for the in situ heat system was proposed based on the results. The results showed that increasing the concentration of the reactants and lowering the ambient temperature produced more heat. The in situ heat system was used to conduct a crude oil cold damage elimination experiment, and the results of the removal experiments verified that the system could effectively but not completely reduce the cold damage. Overall, the in situ heat fracturing fluid system formed by the preferred in situ heat system combined with an acid-resistant fracturing fluid system could avoid cold damage in the formation during construction and increase the output.

Abstract Background Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a rare congenital disease characterized by uterovaginal agenesis. The diagnosis of MRKH syndrome generally leads to considerable emotional burdens on patients. However, studies focusing on the psychological influence on patients are limited and of unsatisfactory quality. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of depressive symptoms in Chinese patients with MRKH syndrome and to identify the factors associated with depressive symptoms. We recruited 141 patients with MRKH syndrome and 178 age-matched healthy women as control group in this cross-sectional study. Depressive symptoms were assessed by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Other parameters such as sociodemographic characteristics, treatment histories, personality traits, and attitudes toward femininity and offspring, were also gathered in the self-administered questionnaire. Results The PHQ-9 score was significantly higher in MRKH patient group than the age-matched control group (7.0 (4.5–11.0) vs. 6.0 (3.0–9.0)), median and IQRs) (P = 0.015). A total of 75.2% of MRKH patients suffered from depressive symptoms, and 34.0% reached a moderate to severe level, while the proportion in the control group was 61.2 and 24.2% respectively. Compared with other age groups, patients in their 20s scored higher on the PHQ-9. Patients with higher neuroticism levels in personality traits (OR 1.19 95% CI 1.11–1.28), negative self-evaluation of femininity (OR 3.964, 95% CI 1.371–11.464) and sexual dysfunction (OR 4.81 95% CI 1.24–18.72) (compared with those having no sexual activity) were more likely to exhibit depressive symptoms. Conclusions Three-quarters of MRKH patients show depressive symptoms, and one-third of these individuals are even at risk for depressive disorders. Therefore, depressive symptom screening and proper psychotherapy in MRKH patients are of great importance.

Abstract. Background:. As a congenital malformation that results in infertility and an inability to have vaginal intercourse, Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome places a considerable psychological burden on patients, which results in anxiety symptoms. However, only single case studies or a few small to medium-sized cross-sectional studies were identified to focus on anxiety symptoms in MRKH patients. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore the status of anxiety symptoms and the related factors in patients with MRKH syndrome. Methods:. This cross-sectional study involving 141 patients with MRKH syndrome and 178 healthy women was conducted from January 2018 to December 2018. All participants were required to complete a demographic questionnaire and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised, Short Scale for Chinese, and Chinese Version of the Female Sexual Function Index. The main outcome was the anxiety symptoms measured by the GAD-7. Main outcome was compared between the MRKH syndrome group and the healthy control group. Then, we explored the related factors by comparing patients with and without anxiety symptoms. Results:. Of the respondents, 24.1% experienced moderate to severe anxiety symptoms. Patients with MRKH syndrome manifested more severe anxiety symptoms than healthy women. Negative self-evaluation of femininity (odds ratio [OR] 2.706, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.010–7.247), neurotic personality traits (OR 1.100, 95% CI 1.029–1.175), and coexisting depressive symptoms (OR 4.422, 95% CI 1.498–13.049) were more prevalent in anxious patients. Conclusion:. The findings stress the importance of anxiety symptom screening in MRKH patients and identify patients at risk of anxiety symptoms, providing a possible basis for future intervention.

In the automatic apple sorting task, it is necessary to automatically classify certain apple species. A shallow convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture is proposed for this purpose. After collecting a certain number of apple images and labelling them, training data is obtained through a series of data augmentation operations, and then training and parameter optimization are carried out through the Caffe framework. The feasibility of the method is verified by experiments which are divided into two cases. In the case of no occlusion, the classification accuracy of apple images reaches approximately 92% in our test set. Besides, block voting is used to aid the proposed method and a good result can be achieved in our test set in the case of part occlusion caused by branches and leaves, rotten spots, and other kinds of apples. The proposed shallow network is characterized by a small number of parameters and shows resistance to overfitting with a limited dataset. Such a network presents an alternative for classification related tasks in smart visual Internet of Things and brings attention to reducing the complexity of deep neural networks while maintaining their strength.

To improve the safety of superhighways, a virtual track system for superhighways based on intelligent road buttons is studied by means of a structural analysis and mathematical model. The system consists of a road subsystem, onboard subsystem and service center subsystem. When a vehicle equipped with an onboard subsystem nears the road buttons, they activate the virtual track system, and the reader reads location coordinates and road alignment information at that point from the label buttons. At the same time, the data processing module begins to function. First, the module reads the linear parameters and processes them to obtain the angle between the road tangent and vehicle body. Then, the module reads the angle of the front wheels, the vehicle speed and the distance between the adjacent two label buttons. Finally, the module obtains the rotational speed of the steering wheel while the vehicle is driving between two label buttons by using the computational model and sends the control parameters to the steering motor. The research results show that when the design speed of the superhighway is 140 km/h, 160 km/h and 180 km/h and the distances between the road buttons are less than 1.33 m, 1.50 m and 1.69 m, respectively, the distance between the centerline of the road and the vehicle can be restricted to less than 50 cm. Therefore, the virtual track system based on intelligent road buttons can restrict vehicles to travel in the virtual track and ensure the safety of superhighways.

Aiming at the problem that the robot de-palletizing task is difficult to accomplish under unstable ambient light, a two-step method is proposed to realize the localization of workpieces, which in this work are woven bags. To begin with, Region Growing method is used to extract the whole target region in the original image, and the relationship model between image intensity and the optimal Region Growing threshold is established. Then, Progressive Probabilistic Hough Transform(PPHT) is used to locate each woven bag. To improve the system performance, the optimal parameters of the PPHT function in different illumination intervals are determined. Finally, experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Experiment results demonstrate this method is robust and feasible.

The Rhizotrons method is an important means of detecting dynamic growth and development phenotypes of plant roots. However, the segmentation of root images is a critical obstacle restricting further development of this method. At present, researchers mostly use direct manual drawings or software-assisted manual drawings to segment root systems for analysis. Root systems can be segmented from root images obtained by the Rhizotrons method, and then, root system lengths and diameters can be obtained with software. This type of image segmentation method is extremely inefficient and very prone to human error. Here, we investigate the effectiveness of an automated image segmentation method based on the DeepLabv3+ convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture to streamline such measurements. We have improved the upsampling portion of the DeepLabv3+ network and validated it using in situ images of cotton roots obtained with a micro root window root system monitoring system. Segmentation performance of the proposed method utilizing WinRHIZO Tron MF analysis was assessed using these images. After 80 epochs of training, the final verification set F1-score, recall, and precision were 0.9773, 0.9847, and 0.9702, respectively. The Spearman rank correlation between the manually obtained Rhizotrons manual segmentation root length and automated root length was 0.9667 (p < 10–8), with r2 = 0.9449. Based on the comparison of our segmentation results with those of traditional manual and U-net segmentation methods, this novel method can more accurately segment root systems in complex soil environments. Thus, using the improved DeepLabv3+ to segment root systems based on micro-root images is an effective method for accurately and quickly segmenting root systems in a homogeneous soil environment and has clear advantages over traditional manual segmentation.

To improve driving safety on superhighways, longitudinal profile design parameters of a superhighway are calculated via force analysis while a car is driven on a slope. The calculations consider characteristics of drivers, cars, and roads. According to the vehicle type, design speed, and natural conditions, the maximum longitudinal slope of a superhighway is calculated and compared with those of an ordinary superhighway and high-speed railway. Based on analysis of the vehicle climbing performance, braking performance, and driver visual characteristics, the maximum and minimum slope lengths of a superhighway are calculated. By analyzing the elements of vertical curves, the minimum radius and minimum length of the vertical curves of a superhighway are calculated by considering factors such as mitigating the impact at the slope bottom, driving at night, and driving time along vertical curves. Analysis and calculation results show that when the maximum longitudinal slope is 2.50%, 2.25%, and 2.00%, the minimum slope length is 450 m, 400 m, and 350 m, respectively, and the minimum vertical curve length is 145 m, 130 m, and 115 m, respectively, and the superhighway travel requirements can be satisfied at speeds of 180 km/h, 160 km/h, and 140 km/h, respectively.

In order to model fluctuation process characteristics of photovoltaic (PV) outputs, this paper proposes a novel mixed Gaussian model with the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. Firstly, random components of PV outputs are obtained through computing the difference between the measured data of PV output and its theoretical outputs. Secondly, the EM algorithm is used to determine the weight of different Gaussian distribution functions. Finally, the mixed Gaussian model is obtained by linearly superimposing these Gaussian functions with the weight. Based on the simulation results on the measured data in Xichang City, China, the effectiveness of the proposed model is verified. Furthermore, this model has proven to be significantly better than other traditional models including t location-scale (TLS) distribution model.

An investigation into the electrochemical corrosion behavior of X80 pipeline steel under different elastic and plastic tensile stress in a CO2-saturated NaCl solution has been carried out by using open-circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and surface analysis techniques. The results show that the corrosion rate of X80 steel first increases and then slightly decreases with the increase of elastic tensile stress, whereas the corrosion rate sharply increases with the increase of plastic tensile stress. Both elastic and plastic tensile stress can enhance steel corrosion by improving the electrochemical activity of both anodic and cathodic reactions. Moreover, compared with elastic tensile stress, plastic tensile stress has a more significant effect. Furthermore, electrochemical reactions for CO2 corrosion and mechanoelectrochemical effect are used to reasonably explain the corrosion behavior of stressed X80 steel in CO2 environment.

Mass concentrations of chemical constituents (organics, nitrate, sulfate, ammonium, chloride, and black carbon (BC)) and the number size distribution of submicrometer particles in the ambient atmosphere were continuously measured in urban Gwangju, Korea, during the Megacity Air Pollution Studies (MAPS)-Seoul campaign. Organics (9.1 μg/m3) were the most dominant species, followed by sulfate (4.7 μg/m3), nitrate (3.2 μg/m3), ammonium (2.6 μg/m3), and BC (1.3 μg/m3) in submicrometer particles (particulate matter less than 1 μm (PM1)). The potential source regions of the sulfate were located in the South and East regions of China and South and East regions of Korea, while local sources were responsible for the elevated BC concentration. Diurnal variation showed that concentrations of organics, nitrate, ammonium, chloride, and BC decreased with increasing mixing layer and wind speed (dilution effect), while sulfate and oxidized organics increased possibly due to their strong photochemical production in the afternoon. During the campaign, an elevated mass concentration of PM1 (PM1 event) and number concentration (nanoparticle formation (NPF) event) were observed (one PM1 event and nine NPF events out of 28 days). The PM1 event occurred with Western and Southwestern air masses with increasing sulfate and organics. Long-range transported aerosols and stagnant meteorological conditions favored the elevated mass concentration of submicrometer particles. Most of the NPF events took place between 10:00 and 14:00, and the particle growth rates after the initial nanoparticle formation were 7.2–11.0 nm/h. The times for increased concentration of nanoparticles and their growth were consistent with those for elevated sulfate and oxidized organics in submicrometer particles under strong photochemical activity.

The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of the stems and leaves in ultrafined powder of Astragalus (SLASUP) on immune functions of chickens, and to provide a basis for clinical application of the stems and leaves of Astragalus. Two hundred and fifty Hyaline brown chicks were assigned randomly into five groups at 1 day of age, fifty chickens each. Group I was the control group, receiving no herbs; Group II was the positive herbal Group, birds in this group being given 0.5% powder of Astragalus root in feedstuff (0.5% ARP Group); Group III was the 0.5% SLASUP Group; Group IV was the 1% SLASUP group; and Group V was the 1.5% SLASUP Group. Chickens in the three SLASUP Groups were given SLASUP powder in the feedstuff. All birds in the five groups were immunised on day 7 and 21 with Newcastle disease (ND) vaccine. The blood samples on days 21, 28, 35, 42 and 49 were collected to determinethe ND virus (NDV) antibody titers, the contents of interleukin- 2 (IL-2) and the immunoreactive fibronectin (IFN-γ) in the sera of 21, 35, 49- day-old chicken. The results indicate that both 1 and 1.5% SLASUP can improve the immune functions of chickens significantly by increasing the antibody titers, IL-2 and IFN-γ contents. Stems and leaves in ultrafined powder of Astragalus may be clinically useful to boost the immune response in preventing infections such as ND in poultry farms.

Attempts to identify molecular biomarkers predicting response have met with mixed success. This may be attributable, in part, to the variable and subjective disease assessment endpoints with large placebo effects typically used to classify patient response. Sixty-one patients with active RA despite methotrexate treatment, and with MRI-documented synovitis, were randomized to receive infliximab or placebo. Blood was collected at baseline and genome-wide transcription in whole blood was measured using microarrays. The primary endpoint in this study was determined by measuring the transfer rate constant (Ktrans) of a gadolinium-based contrast agent from plasma to synovium using MRI. Secondary endpoints included repeated clinical assessments with DAS28(CRP), and assessments of osteitis and synovitis by the RAMRIS method. Infliximab showed greater decrease from baseline in DCE-MRI Ktrans of wrist and MCP at all visits compared with placebo (PTrial registrationClinicalTrials.gov NCT01313520.

Mitochondria are the main intracellular location for fuel generation; however, they are not just power plants but involved in a range of other intracellular functions including regulation of redox homeostasis and cell fate. Dysfunction of mitochondria will result in oxidative stress which is one of the underlying causal factors for a variety of diseases including neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. In this paper, generation of reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) in the mitochondria, redox regulatory roles of certain mitochondrial proteins, and the impact on cell fate will be discussed. The current state of our understanding in mitochondrial dysfunction in pathological states and how we could target them for therapeutic purpose will also be briefly reviewed.

Enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) is the only approved disease-modifying treatment modality for Pompe disease, a rare, inherited metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency in the acid α-glucosidase (GAA) enzyme that catabolizes lysosomal glycogen. First-generation recombinant human GAA (rhGAA) ERT (alglucosidase alfa) can slow the progressive muscle degeneration characteristic of the disease. Still, most patients experience diminished efficacy over time, possibly because of poor uptake into target tissues. Next-generation ERTs aim to address this problem by increasing bis-phosphorylated high mannose (bis-M6P) N-glycans on rhGAA as these moieties have sufficiently high receptor binding affinity at the resultant low interstitial enzyme concentrations after dosing to drive uptake by the cationindependent mannose 6-phosphate receptor on target cells. However, some approaches introduce bis-M6P onto rhGAA via non-natural linkages that cannot be hydrolyzed by natural human enzymes and thus inhibit the endolysosomal glycan trimming necessary for complete enzyme activation after cell uptake. Furthermore, all rhGAA ERTs face potential inactivation during intravenous delivery (and subsequent non-productive clearance) as GAA is an acid hydrolase that is rapidly denatured in the near-neutral pH of the blood. One new therapy, cipaglucosidase alfa plus miglustat, is hypothesized to address these challenges by combining an enzyme enriched with naturally occurring bis-M6P N-glycans with a small-molecule stabilizer. Here, we investigate this hypothesis by analyzing published and new data related to the mechanism of action of the enzyme and stabilizer molecule. Based on an extensive collection of in vitro, preclinical, and clinical data, we conclude that cipaglucosidase alfa plus miglustat successfully addresses each of these challenges to offer meaningful advantages in terms of pharmacokinetic exposure, target-cell uptake, endolysosomal processing, and clinical benefit. Background/Objectives: Retinal metastasis (RM) is an exceptionally rare clinical condition, comprising less than 1% of ocular metastasis cases. This study aims to investigate the clinical features of RM originating from systemic carcinoma. Methods: A systematic review (PROSPERO ID: CRD42022344724). Results: The systematic review revealed 58 cases involving 61 eyes. Most of the cases (82.8%) had a known primary malignancy before RM was diagnosed. The main primary sites were the lung (45.8%), gastrointestinal tract (23.7%), and breast (16.9%). The lung was the most common (80.0%) carcinoma in cases with unknown primary sites. The median survival after RM diagnosis was 11 months. The main clinical patterns were patchy retinal infiltrates (35.7%), an elevated retinal mass (63.8%), and punctate retinal infiltrates (7.1%). Subretinal fluid, vitreous seeding, and choroidal invasion were noted in 57.4%, 41.0%, and 6.6% of eyes, respectively. Key multimodal imaging features were early hypofluorescence with mid-to-late hyperfluorescence on fluorescein angiography (84.6%) and hyper-reflectiveness on optical coherence tomography (70.8%). A final best-corrected visual acuity of ≤20/200 was noted in 66.7% of the eyes. Conclusions: Patchy retinal infiltrates, an elevated retinal mass, and punctate retinal infiltrates are the major clinical patterns of RM from systemic carcinoma. Due to wood's susceptibility to fire, it is crucial to treat wood-based materials with flame retardants, especially in construction applications. This study investigated the effectiveness of various grooving types, including transverse, longitudinal, both transverse and longitudinal, and surface grooving, in enhancing the vacuum pressure impregnation of larch wood. The results revealed that transverse grooving provided a slightly greater impregnation advantage than longitudinal grooving. Moreover, exceptional impregnation performance was observed in larch samples subjected to threefold longitudinal, transverse, and surface grooving, exhibiting a remarkable improvement of 215% compared to untreated larch. However, a limitation of this study is that only one wood species and one flame retardant formulation were used. While it is meaningful as a preliminary investigation into the vacuum pressure impregnation performance of flame-retardant wood based on groove processing, further studies using various wood species and flame retardants.
