Members of the scaphidiine tribe Scaphisomatini collected recently in Tianmushan Biosphere Reserve (Zhejiang) and Wuyishan National Nature Reserve (part of Wuyishan Biosphere Reserve, Fujian), China, are studied. Two species, Scaphisoma krali Löbl, sp. nov. and Scaphisoma sekerkai Löbl, sp. nov., are described from Wuyishan. Baeocera franzi (Löbl, 1973) and Scaphisoma mutator Löbl, 2000 are recorded for the first time from Zhejiang province, and Scaphisoma binhanum (Pic, 1922) and Scaphoxium intermedium Löbl, 1984 are recorded for the first time from Fujian province.

Thie species appears to be widely distributed and has been reported from Indonesia: Sumatra; East Malaysia: Sabah and Thailand (see LÖBL 2018). These specimens exhibit characters congruent with the redescription given by LÖBL & LESCHEN (2010). Notable are the widely interrupted basal striae of the elytra, the mesoventrite with distinct mesal ridge, the lateral parts of the metaventrite lacking coarser punctures, and the lateral parts of ventrite I, each bearing a subbasal patch of distinct punctures, in combination with the uniformly rufous, about 1.9 mm long body. Pseudobironium rapax sp. nov. (Figs 8 ̅10) Type material. Holotype male, Malaysia, Sabah, Crocker Range, Mawar Waterfall env. 17.VI.1996, 9c, vegetation debris and forest floor litter accumulated along large fallen trees near river (MHNG). Description. Length 1.95 mm, width 1.30 mm. Head and most of body dark reddishbrown, apex of abdomen lighter, yellowish; femora and tibiae roughly as body, tarsi and antennae light brown. Maxillary palpi with palpomere IV narrow, tapering, about 4 times as long as wide. Length ratio of antennomeres as follows: III 15: IV 22: V 26: VI 21: VII 26: VIII 26: IX 27: X: 26: XI 35; antennomere XI about 3.5 times as long as wide. Pronotal punctation very fine, similar to that on frons, with punctures very shallow and not well delimited; middle of pronotal disc with puncture intervals about 4 to 10 times larger than puncture diameters. Elytra lacking lateral impressions, not flattened or impressed apically, lacking humps; discal punctation similar to pronotal. Hypomera impunctate, impressed posteriad. Mesoventrite lacking mesal ridge and lacking distinct setiferous punctures. Mesanepisternum very finely punctate, lacking microsculpture. Metaventrite lacking microsculpture; median area nearly flat, lacking impressions and tubercle, with two irregular rows of distinct admesal punctures. Lateral parts of metaventrite very finely and sparsely punctate. Metacoxal process impunctate, horizontal. Submesocoxal area short, about as fourth shortest interval to metacoxa. Submesocoxal line finely punctate. Mesotibiae and metatibiae slightly bent, ventral spur of mesotibiae straight. Ventrite Ilacking microsculpture, with very fine and scattered punctures; following ventrites and exposed tergites with punctulate microsculpture. Male. Aedeagus (Figs 8 ̅10) 0.74 mm long. Median lobe with basal bulb shorter than apical process, the latter slightly inflexed, with sinuate ventral margin (lateral view), and blunt tip; apical part of median lobe lacking distinct valves. Parameres nearly evenly wide, bent in dorsal view, straight in lateral view. Internal sac with pair of strongly sclerotized denticles and mesal sclerite, lacking flagellum and lacking apical spinose structures. Etymology. The species epithet is a Latin noun, referring to the canine­like denticles of the internal sac. Differential diagnosis. The species is as P. irregulare less than 2 mm long and thus conspicuous by its small body­size. It may be easily distinguished from P. irregulare by the evenly very fine elytral punctation, the narrow submesocoxal areas and ventrite I lacking microsculpture. The aedeagal characters suggest relationship with members of the P. subovatum group (see LÖBL & TANG 2013), though the shape of the admesal sclerites of the internal sac is unique. The species falls in the key species to couplet 27, to P. schuhi Löbl & Tang, 2013 from which it differs notably by the parameres evenly narrow, except at their basis. Remarks. Mordelloscaphium Pic, 1915 The genus is monospecific. Baeocera hutan sp. nov. (Figs 1 ̅4) Type material. Holotype male, Sabah: Lahad Datu Ulu Segama forest Reserve, Danum Valley For. Centre, N 04°57.9′ E 117°48.1′, 200 m, 21.xi.2005, D. Mann, E. Slade & J. Villanuava lgt., lowland mix. dipterocarp forest. West trail area 1, FIT, OUMNH 2006­051 (OUMNH). Description. Length 1.28 mm, width 0.76 mm. Head and body nearly evenly reddishbrown, elytra hardly darker than pronotum, apical abdominal segments slightly lighter than pronotum, femora and tibiae as elytra, tarsi and antennae lighter. Head with interocular distance nearly as dorsoventral eye diameter. Head, thorax and elytra lacking microsculpture. Length/width ratios of antennomeres as follows: III 20 /5: IV 20 /6: V 30 /7: VI 27 /7: VII 33 /8: VIII 27 /7: IX 36 /11: X: 37/15: XI 48 /17. Pronotal and elytral punctation even, very fine. Lateral contours of pronotum and elytra continuously, very weakly arcuate. Pronotum with anterior margin bead broadly interrupted, lateral margins sinuate in lateral view, lateral margin striae impunctate. Margin of exposed part of scutellum rounded. Elytra with lateral margins nearly parallel, lateral margins in lateral view slightly sinuate, lateral margin carinae visible in dorsal view, lateral margin striae impunctate; sutural striae starting at base, parallel, deeply impressed, curved along pronotal lobe to form basal striae extended to humeral areas, broadly separated from lateral striae; discal punctation sparse, near base with puncture intervals about 8 to 10 larger than puncture diameters. Hind wing fully developed. Hypomera and mesanepisterna appearing impunctate. Mesoventrite with mesal ridge, punctate along lateral margins. Mesepimeron about 4 times as long as large and 5 times as long as interval to mesocoxa. Median part of metaventrite nearly flat, impunctate mesally, with dense, fairly coarse punctures on posterior third and laterally smooth mesal area, bearing conspicuous, long pubescence. Lateral parts of metaventrite with few scattered extremely fine punctures. Submesocoxal line parallel, margined with row of coarse elongate punctures extended posterior the inner part of mesepimeron. Submesocoxal area about 0.02 mm long. Metanepisterna large, about 0.10 mm wide, twice as long as wide, slightly convex, with inner margin broadly rounded anteriorly, nearly straight posteriad; inner suture impunctate. Protibiae straight. Mesotibiae and metatibiae slightly bent. Ventrite I lacking striae, with row of elongate basal punctures not interrupted in middle, extended laterally behind tip of metepimeron; punctation posterior basal row very fine and sparse. Male. Protarsomeres Ito III strongly widened, bearing long tenent setae; protarsomere I wider than apex of protibia. Ventrite VI with apical lobe subtriangular, about 0.04 mm long. Aedeagus (Figs 1 ̅4) 0.60 mm long. Median lobe and parameres strongly sclerotized, symmetrical, dorsal valves excepted. Articular process not prominent, distinct. Apical process of median lobe somewhat shorter than basal bulb, moderately inflexed, with weakly concave ventral margin, gradually narrowed apically, tip acute in lateral view, obtuse in dorsal view. Parameres robust, gradually narrowed apically in dorsal view, widened apical in lateral view, with broadly rounded apex. Internal sac with complex sclerites, lacking spinose and denticulate structures, with apical section of ejaculatory duct wide, weakly membranous, extruded in repos. Etymology. The species epithet is a noun meaning "forest̏ in Malay. Differential diagnosis. This species is unique in having broadly interrupted pronotal bead. Therefore, it is placed in Baeocera tentatively (the mouth­parts and thorax of the unique available specimen were not dissected). In addition, its aedeagal characters are unusual, in particular by the structure of the internal sac and the asymmetrical valves of the median lobe. The internal sac lacking a flagellar guide sclerite and possessing a membranous ejaculatory duct extruded in repos is shared with the Chinese B. xichangana Löbl, 1999. It differs notably from B. xichangana by the not prominent articular process, the two asymmetrical dorsal valves, and the much shorter, robust parameres. Both species are also very distinct in external characters, in particular by their body­shape and size (B. xichangana is 2.0̅ 2.15 mm long). Remarks. As to the Sabah species, only B. barbara Löbl, 1990 and B. doriae (Pic, 1920) share the wide metanepisterna. These two species have asymmetrical aedeagus and may be easily distinguished by their external characters. Pseudobironium Pic, 1920 The genus is Asian in distribution, with most members found in the tropics and subtropics, remaining unknown south of the Wallace line. Currently, six species are known to occur in Sabah (LÖBL & TANG 2013): P. convexum Löbl & Tang, 2013, P. horaki Löbl & Tang, 2013, P. pubiventer Löbl & Tang, 2013, P. sparsepunctatum (Pic, 1915), P. subovatum Pic, 1920, and P. vitalisi (Achard, 1920). Scaphoxium sinuatum sp. nov. Figs 11 ̅13 Type material. Holotype male, Malaysia, Sabah, Batu Punggul Resort env., 24.VI. ̅ 1.VII.1996, 11c. vegetation debris and forest floor litter accumulated around large trees near river (MHNG). Description. Length 1.18 mm, width 0.55 mm, dorsoventral diameter 0.62 mm. Thorax, elytra and most of abdomen uniformly reddish­brown, head somewhat lighter, apical abdominal segments light, nearly yellowish, femora and tibiae roughly as thorax, tarsi lighter, antennae light brown. Length/width ratios of antennomeres as follows: III 22 /5: IV 17 /4: V 22 /4: VI 23 /4: VII 28 /7: VIII 20 /7: IX 28/11: X: 28/11: XI 38 /12. Pronotal and elytral punctation similar, very fine, hardly visible at 40 times magnification. Scutellum concealed. Elytra with sutural striae parallel, shortened, starting about 0.15 mm posterior of margin of pronotal lobe, adsutural areas hardly raised. Hypomeron with scattered, very fine punctured and short oblique stria. Mesoventrite with mesal impression shallow, narrowed posteriad, lacking mesal ridge and lacking microsculpture. Margin of mesocoxal process rounded. Metaventrite lacking microsculpture, very finely punctate, convex in middle. Lateral stria oblique, nearly reaching convex, finely punctate submesocoxal line. Submesocoxal area about 0.03 mm, as long as half of the shortest interval to margin of metacoxa. Metanepisternum flat, with suture fairly narrow, punctate, somewhat rounded. Abdomen very finely punctate, median areas of ventrites with punctulate microsculpture. Male. Segments Ito III of protarsi hardly widened. Aedeagus (Figs 11 ̅13) 0.44 mm long. Parameres narrowed posterior of basal section, gradually weakly widened toward narrow apical section, not forming subapical lobe or process; outer margins of parameres concave and inner margins strongly sclerotized posterior of narrowed apical section. Internal sac bearing two pairs of sclerotized pieces, outer larger and more sclerotized than inner pair, expanded apically, inner pair widened proximally, with margins becoming indistinct apically; scale­like, spine­like or filamentous structures absent. Etymology. The species epithet is a Latin adjective meaning "sinuatȅ, referring to the outer margins of the parameres. Differential diagnosis. The body­size of this new species is significantly smaller than that of other Bornean species and the shape of its parameres is diagnostic for it. The new species is similar to S. bilobum Löbl, 2015 from Lombok. It shares with the latter the simple internal sac of the aedeagus lacking spine­like, denticulate or striate membranous structures in combination with the presence of two pairs of admesal sclerites. Head and most of body dark reddish­brown, metaventrite somewhat darkened, apex of abdomen lighter, yellowish, femora and tibiae roughly as body, tarsi and antennae lighter, yellowish. Maxillary palpi with palpomere IV narrow, tapering, about 4 times as long as wide. Length ratio of antennomeres as follows: III 14: IV 25: V 25: VI 22: VII 26: VIII 26: IX 26: X: 26: XI 31; antennomere XI about 4 times as long as wide. Pronotal punctation about as fine as that on frons, with punctures very shallow and not well delimited; middle of pronotal disc with puncture intervals about 5 to 10 times larger than puncture diameters. Elytra lacking lateral impressions, not flattened or impressed apically, lacking humps; discal punctation on prevailing surface similar to pronotal punctation, conspicuous patch of rather coarse punctures present on anterolateral area. Puncture patch separated from lateral and basal margins by rather broad, very finely punctate areas. Lateral striae coarsely punctate. Hypomera impunctate, flattened along basal margin. Mesoventrite lacking mesal ridge, with distinct setiferous punctures at lateral margins of coxal process, setae long. Mesanepisternum very finely punctate, lacking microsculpture. Metaventrite with inconspicuous striate to punctulate microsculpture; median area nearly flat, lacking impressions and lacking tubercle, its punctation fine, arranged to form two sparse admesal rows joined posteriorly. Lateral parts of metaventrite very finely and sparsely punctate. Metacoxal process impunctate, inflexed. Submesocoxal area slightly shorter than half of shortest interval to metacoxa. Submesocoxal line coarsely punctate. Mesotibiae and metatibiae slightly bent, ventral spur of mesotibiae straight. Exposed ventrites and tergites with distinct punctulate microsculpture, setiferous punctures very fine and scattered. Male. Protarsus shorter than protibia, protarsomeres Ito III hardly widened, narrower than apex of tibiae, bearing short setae. Aedeagus (Figs 5 ̅7) 0.68 mm long, weakly sclerotized. Median lobe with basal bulb shorter than apical process, the latter hardly inflexed, with sinuate ventral margin (lateral view) and blunt tip; apical part of median lobe overlapped by two valves. Parameres widened basally, weakly bent. Internal sac lacking sclerotized pieces, without distinct flagellum, bearing apical spinose structures. Etymology. The species epithet is a Latin adjective meaning "irregulaȑ, referring to the elytral punctation. Differential diagnosis. This species may be readily distinguished from its congeners, P. impressipenne Löbl, 1973 and P. subglabrum Löbl, 1990 excepted, by elytra bearing each an anterolateral patch of coarse punctures. In addition, its small body­size and the structure of the internal sac are diagnostic. It may be readily distinguished from P. impressipenne and P. subglabrum by the parameres widened basally. It falls to the couplet 25 in the key to the species in LÖBL & TANG (2013), to P. feai Pic, though the latter species is 2.90̅ 3.20 mm long and has a black body. The aedeagal characters suggest relationships with members of the P. plagiferum group. Baeocera sp. B Material examined: MHNG; 1 female; MALUC: Kai Besar Island, G. Dab, leaf litter, 400 m, 5.IX.1981, D. Agosti, F911046. Remarks: This is the second Moluccan species of Baeocera remaining unnamed, in absence of at least one male specimen (see “ Baeocera sp. A ” in Löbl, 2015a). It is similar to the Papuan B. curta Löbl, 2002, differs by the less arcuate suture of the metanepisterna and the ventrite I lacking basal striae. Thus, it may be an undescribed species. Baeocera curta has a complex aedeagus providing reliable specific characters which are quite unlike those of members of the Baeocera lenta group and of B. agostii. The specimen has slightly prominent apical inner apical angles of the elytra, a character noted for the first time in Baeocera. Point of scutellum exposed. Elytra covering abdomen, weakly narrowed apically, with lateral margins evenly, weakly rounded; adsutural area flat and narrow; sutural stria punctate, shortened, starting about 0.20 mm posterior of tip of scutellum; basal stria absent; lateral stria punctate. Elytral disc not microsculptured; punctation entirely coarse and dense, punctures larger than those on pronotum and nearly as well delimited, puncture intervals mostly larger than puncture diameters. Hind wings fully developed. Hypomeron not microsculptured, conspicuously punctate except on smooth areas along upper margin and near mesocoxa, with some punctures about as large as puncture intervals and as pronotal punctures. Mesoventrite punctate, without median ridge, fused with metaventral process. Mesanepisternum conspicuously punctate, punctures similar to those on hypomeron. Mesepimeron with row of coarse punctures along anterior margin, about three times as long as wide and three times as long as interval to coxa. Metaventrite flattened in middle, all over coarsely and densely punctate, narrow apical band excepted; punctures on lateral part of metaventrite well delimited, mostly larger than puncture intervals. Submesocoxal lines parallel, with marginal punctures smaller than punctures on lateral area of metaventrite and somewhat extended laterally along margin of metaventrite. Submesocoxal areas about 0.02 mm long, as fifth of shortest distance to metacoxae. Metanepisternum flat, fused with metaventrite, its margin indicated by outer puncture row of metaventrite. Tibiae straight. Abdomen not microsculptured. Ventrite I densely and coarsely punctate, punctures smaller than those on lateral area of metaventrite, basal punctures not enlarged and not elongate, basal striae or wrinkles absent. Following ventrites finely punctate. Male characters: Protarsomeres I to III slightly widened. Aedeagus (Figs 14-16) 0.29 mm long, weakly sclerotized, symmetrical.Apical process gradually narrowed apically, with tip bent and blunt in lateral view. Parameres straight and evenly narrow in dorsal view, sinuate and gradually widened toward apical third in lateral view. Internal sac with complex sclerites, as in Fig. 16 with flagellar guidesclerite widened apically, broad, nearly membranous accessory lateral sclerite, lacking membranous scale- or denticle-like structures. Habitat: South slope of G. Dab, secondary forest on limestone, soil and very humid leaf litter. Distribution: Indonesia: Moluccas, Tanimbar Islands. Remarks: This is another species of the B. lenta group, in external characters very similar to B. notata. It may be easily distinguished from the latter by the mesepimeron bearing a row of coarse punctures along its anterior margin and by the aedeagal characters, in particular by the parameres straight and narrow in dorsal view. In addition, the body-size of B. punctigera is smaller, the antennae are shorter, with the antennomere XI less than 3 times as long as wide. Parameres straight in basal halves, bent in apical halves, each with weakly sclerotized subapical lobe (dorsal view), narrow near bases and nearly evenly broad in apical two thirds, with slightly concave ventral margins (lateral view). Internal sac with complex sclerites, as in Fig. 9, with flagellar guide-sclerite widened apically, narrow accessory lateral sclerite present, lacking membranous scale- or denticlelike structures. Habitat: Secondary/primary forest 5 km E of Mt. Sungai, shallow leaf litter, on limestone; understory with Pandanus. Distribution: Indonesia: Moluccas, Aru Islands. Remarks: The species is another member of the B. lenta group. It shares with the Moluccan B. kaibesara Löbl, 2014 and B. vicina Löbl, 2015, and the Papuan B. praedicta Löbl, 2002, elytra with shortened sutural striae. It may be readily distinguished from these three species by the hypomera and mesanepisterna conspicuously punctate. In addition, the shape of the parameres lobed subapically is diagnostic for this new species. Several species, such as the New Guinean B. fortepunctata Löbl, 2002 and the Philippine B. hypomeralis Löbl, 2012 also possess punctate hypomera but differs by the elytra having entire sutural striae and the impunctate or extremely finely punctate mesanepisterna. The Himalayan B. cribrata Löbl, 1992, shares the pronotum coarsely punctate, distinctly punctate hypomera and mesanepisterna, and elytra with shortened sutural striae. Remarks: The species is also member of the B. lenta group, as shown by its aedeagal characters. It falls in the key to the Moluccan species (Löbl, 2015a) to B. vicina Löbl, 2015. It may be easily distinguished from the latter as from other congeners by the shape of the parameres and by the internal sac possessing a short flagellum and reduced flagellar-guide sclerite. The New Guinean B. praedicta Löbl, 2002 possesses parameres rather similar to those of B. incurva. Mesocoxal process concealed with mesoventrite. Centre of metaventrite impunctate, fairly coarse punctures present on transverse area anterior metacoxal process, fovea-like impressions absent. Lateral parts of metaventrite very finely and sparsely punctate, punctures on lateral areas hardly visible, antecoxal puncture rows absent. Submesocoxal lines parallel, fairly coarsely punctured; submesocoxal area about 0.02 mm long, as tenth of shortest distance to metacoxa. Metanepiternum narrowed anteriad. Ventrite I with punctation very fine, similar to lateral parts of metaventrite; submetaxocal lines parallel, margined with coarse punctures; submetacoxal areas hardly 0.02 mm, about as tenth of shortest distance to apical margin. Male characters: Ventrite VI with mesal process triangular, about 0.15 mm long. Protarsomeres and mesotarsomeres I to III distinctly widened, with tenant setae, protarsomeres I narrower than apices of protibiae. Aedeagus (Figs 20-23) 1.25 mm long, strongly sclerotized and strongly asymmetrical. Apical process of median lobe slightly inflexed, obliquely truncate at apex. Left paramere extended posterior of right paramere and overlapping most of apical process. Internal sac with robust, strongly sclerotized and irregularly narrowed rod. Habitat: Kanary evergreen primary forest on limestone, 50 m, thick leaf litter with heavy mycorrhiza. Distribution: Indonesia: Moluccas, Yamdena Island. Remarks: This is a member of the S. sublimbatum group. It may be easily distinguished from the other five members of the group by the elytra lacking spots, the metaventrite lacking mesal stria and fovea-like impressions, the antennomeres XI about as large as the antennomeres IX, and the basal striae of the elytra entire, joined to the lateral striae, in combination. The aedeagal characters suggest close relationships to S. quadripunctatum (Pic, 1956), the shape of the truncate tip of the apical process of the median lobe is unique in the new species. Remarks: This specimen possesses aedeagal characters similar to those of S. notata Löbl, 2017, from Papua New Guinea, and S. lombokensis Löbl, 2015. It differs from S. notata quite conspicuously by the uniformly light brown elytra, and from S. lombokensis by the parameres nearly evenly broad in lateral view and the ventrally bent tip of the median lobe. Etymology: The species epithet is a Latin adjective meaning lobed. Diagnosis: Body-length 1.35 mm; elytral punctation well delimited; hypomeron with longitudinal ridge; mesoventrite and metaventrite grooved mesally; lateral parts of the metaventrite bearing coarse punctures; submesocoxal area as long as shortest interval to metacoxa; abdomen with punctulate microsculpture; aedeagus as Figs 28, 29, with parameres broadly lobed at level of tip on median love, slightly narrowed posterior of lobe, internal sac lacking distinct sclerites and without scale-like or spine-like structures. Description: Length 1.35 mm, width 0.67 mm, dorsoventral diameter 0.73 mm. Body uniformly dark brown, appendages lighter. Exposed ventrites with very fine punctation, coarse row of basal punctures of ventrite I excepted. Male characters: Protarsomeres I to III hardly widened. Aedeagus (Figs 28, 29) 0.51 mm long. Parameres each with large, rounded lobe at level of tip of median lobe, narrow and weakly bent posterior lobe, internal sac with plate-like structure, lacking spines or scales. Remarks: This species resembles S. bilobum Löbl, 2015 from Lombok which shares the shape of the parameres and the coarse punctation on lateral parts of the metaventrite. These two species differ in elytral punctation which is notably denser and consist of sharply delimited punctures in S. lobatum. The more relevant feature of S. lobatum is the internal sac lacking two pairs of strongly sclerotized pieces. The antennomeres III and IV appear slightly shorter in S. lobatum, a character not to be used as diagnostic until more material available to assess its variability more reliably. Elytra blackish along bases, suture, lateral margins and on transverse area posterior of mid-length and anterior apical sixth. Area anterior of blackish transverse band dark reddish brown, apical sixth yellowish. Venter of thorax and ventrite I blackish, following abdominal segments and appendages light, ochraceous or yellowish. Pronotum not microsculptured, with lateral margins evenly arcuate, lateral margins carinae visible in dorsal view, lateral striae finely punctate, discal punctation dense and fine, consisting of well delimited punctures much smaller than puncture intervals. Exposed tip of scutellum minute, triangular. Parameres sinuate in lateral view, arcuate and narrowed posterior of mid-length in dorsal view. Internal sac with two apical bunches of long, straight denticles, single large, straight mesal denticle and two basal vesicles containing dense, curved denticles appearing in dorsal view as irregularly striate structures. Etymology. – The specific epithet refers to the family name of the collector of the species, Frédéric Jacq, a great naturalist and photographer, and for his huge contribution to the knowledge of the entomofauna of French Polynesia. The species epithet is to be treated as a noun in the genitive case. Habitat. – The Malaise trap (fig. 6-7) was set along an abandoned trail, in a Talipariti tiliaceum (L.) Fryxell secondarized forest, degraded with Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels, Ardisia elliptica Thunb., and Passiflora laurifolia L. The herbaceous understory was composed of Sphagneticola trilobata (L.) Pruski, Christella sp., Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoe ex Sm., Nephrolepis hirsutula (G.Forst.) C.Presl and Centotheca lappacea (L.) Desv. Comments. – The species is a member of the Scaphisoma haemorrhoidale group, defined by the aedeagi symmetrical with a trifid apical process, narrow, simple parameres usually lacking lobes and a complex internal sac lacking flagellum (LÖBL, 1970). The aedeagal characters suggest relationships with S. perkinsi Scott, 1908, described from Hawaii, redescribed and subsequently recorded from the Bonin (Ogasawara) Islands (LÖBL, 1981). The species is named in honour of its collector, the coleopterist Ondřej Konvička (Zl��n, Czech Republic). Description. Length 1.65 mm, width 1.17 mm. Head with blackish frons. Pronotum dark brown on large median area, ochraceous along anterior margin and on lateral areas. Elytra ochraceous, each darkened along base, with dark basal area expanded along suture to form triangular spot reaching sutural mid-length, and with narrow subapical darkened stripe. Hypomera ochraceous. Mesoventrite and metaventrite with anepisterna and epimera dark brown to blackish. Ventrites I to IV dark brown, apical abdominal segments yellowish. Femora and tibiae ochraceous, tarsi and antennae yellowish. Mesotarsomeres not widened. Apex of ventrite VI gradually narrowed, not forming distinctive lobe. Aedeagus as in Figs 1���3, 0.68 mm long, moderately sclerotized. Basal bulb large, convex and lacking articular tubercle at base of parameres. Apical process of median lobe strongly inflexed, with dorsal branch only moderately shorter than ventral branch, ventral branch gradually narrowed and with acute tip. Parameres weakly arcuate, as long as half of median lobe. Internal sac consisting of convoluted, spinose tube. Differential��diagnosis. This new species leads to S. latro L��bl, 2000, couplet 24, in the key to the Chinese Scaphisoma (L��bl 2019a). However, the latter species is unrelated (based on aedeagal characters) and differs notably by its colour pattern and the antennomeres V and VI similar in length. The aedeagal characters of S. konvickai suggest relationships to S. invertum L��bl, 2000 from Guangxi and Yunnan, S. invisum L��bl, 1990 from Thailand, S. discretum L��bl, 1986 from Northeast India, and S. binaluanum Pic, 1947 from the Philippines. The new species is distinguished from all of these by the short apical process of the median lobe, compared to the basal bulb, and the complexly convoluted internal sac, similar to that of the Sulawesian S. bugi L��bl, 1983. It differs in external characters from S. invertum notably by the elytra having basal striae, the mesepimeron shorter than the interval to the mesocoxa, and the strigulate abdominal microsculpture. Scaphisoma invertum possesses elytra darkened along the base, in the middle and near the apices, lacks basal striae, and the exposed abdominal segments have punctulate microsculpture. Scaphisoma invisum differs by its body being only 1.05���1.15 mm long, the antennomere V being longer than the antennomere VI and the submesocoxal area longer than the submetacoxal area. Scaphisoma discretum may be easily distinguished by its antennomeres VI being about as long as the antennomeres III to V, combined with the elytra lacking basal striae. Scaphisoma binaluanum also has elytra without basal striae, and is characterized by the well-defined transverse band posterior to the elytral mid-length, that provides a distinctive colour pattern. Scaphisoma bugi has each elytron with two reddish spots, lacking basal striae and an apicoventrally prominent basal bulb of the aedeagus (L��bl 1983), by which it may be readily distinguished from S. konvickai.
