Background Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common malignant tumor of the endocrine system, and its incidence has increased rapidly in recent years. Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is the most common type of thyroid cancer, accounting for 80% of all thyroid cancers. Despite the efficacy of surgical treatment, radioactive iodine therapy, TSH inhibition therapy and novel targeted drug therapy, early diagnosis and intervention are the key to stop its occurrence and development, however, the sensitivity indexes related to PTC are still lacking in clinical practice. Objective To investigate the correlation between lipid metabolism, inflammatory markers and sex of patients with PTC. Methods The data of PTC patients (n=370) diagnosed and treated in the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected for retrospective analysis, and the normal population of physical examination in the same period was matched according to age and gender as the control group (n=1 112). Age, gender, smoking status, BMI, peripheral blood white blood cell count (WBC), platelet count (PLT), lymphocyte count (LYM), monocyte count (MON), neutrophil count (NEU), fasting blood glucose (FBG), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total cholesterol (TC), were collected in both groups, triacylglycerol (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), urea (UREA), creatinine (Cr), and uric acid (UA), and calculate the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and monocyte-to-HDL cholesterol ratio (MHR). Analyze the correlation between the above indicators and PTC and their diagnostic value. ObjectiveTo analyze the epidemiological features and influencing factors of rabies in Shanxi Province，and to provide evidence to further promote the elimination of rabies in Shanxi Province.MethodsThe incidence data of rabies in Shanxi from 2011 to 2022 were collected and subjected to descriptive analysis.ResultsFrom 2011 to 2022， a total of 348 rabies cases were reported in Shanxi Province， with an average annual incidence of 0.080 3/105. The incidence of rabies showed a downward trend overall. The highest incidence was in August. The cases were mainly farmers， mostly males， and most cases were reported between 50 and 69 years old. The data of cases showed that dogs were the main animals attacking human （93.96%）. The incubation period of most cases was 1‒3 months （37.37%）.The main exposure site was hand（51.33%）. Only 2.66% cases with grade Ⅲ exposure were injected with passive immune agents.ConclusionThe incidence of rabies in Shanxi Province continues to decrease， but there are still loopholes in prevention and control measures. It is necessary to strengthen the management and immunization of dogs，health education， and standardized procedures after exposure to maintain the achievements in the prevention and control of rabies.

Introduction: Social isolation is a modifiable risk factor for negative health outcomes among older adults. This work assessed the relationship between geography (i.e., urban vs. non-urban residence) and social isolation in a cohort of older drivers. Methods: The AAA LongROAD cohort with 2,989 older adult drivers from across the country were included. Social isolation was measured at baseline and at two subsequent annual follow-ups using PROMIS v2.0 Social Isolation 4a. The effect of geographic location with social isolation was assessed through with multivariable regression using a generalized estimating equation model. Results: The rate of social isolation in urban areas was 21% lower (adjusted RR 0.79, 95% CI 0.46, 1.36) compared to non-urban areas after adjusting for covariates, though not significant. Discussion: Social isolation is a predictor of poor health outcomes and geographic considerations have been lacking in the literature. The panel data in this analysis provides more evidence for causality though the under-representation of non-urban areas potentially reduces the power for the results. Conclusions: It is important to understand the needs and risk of social isolation in various geographic settings to ensure resources and interventions are appropriately modified for a greater public health impact.

BackgroundThe potential for impaired driving due to medication use can occur at any age, though older adults are more likely to take multiple prescribed medications and experience side effects that may affect driving ability. The purpose of this study was to characterize the relationship between medications and driving safety behaviors.MethodsData for this study came from the five-site Longitudinal Research on Aging Drivers (LongROAD) project. Participants were active drivers, age 65-79 years at enrollment, and patients at one of the 5 participating sites. Medication names and doses were obtained at baseline based on the "brown-bag review" method. Medications were coded using the American Hospital Formulary Service system. Driving data were collected by a GPS accelerometer installed in the study participants' main vehicles.ResultsMedication data were available for 2949 (98.6%) of the 2990 participants, and 2898 (96.9% of all participants) had both medication data and at least 30 recorded days of driving. The median number of medications taken per study participant was seven, with a range of 0-51. Total number of medications was significantly associated with a higher rapid deceleration rate. Certain medication classes were significantly associated with other driving outcomes, including central nervous system agents (more speeding events), hormones and gastrointestinal medications (more rapid decelerations), electrolytes (fewer rapid decelerations), and antihistamines (greater right to left turn ratio).ConclusionsOlder adult drivers are taking large quantities of prescription and non-prescription medications that may affect their driving safety. Certain medication classes are associated with potentially adverse driving patterns, such as speeding and rapid decelerations, while others are associated with potentially protective maneuvers, such as right hand turning. Further research is warranted to identify and mitigate potential adverse effects of such medications on driving safety in older adults.

This article investigates the sliding wear behavior of ZTA (zirconia toughened alumina) particle (ZTAp)- and NbC (niobium carbide) particle (NbCp)-reinforced Fe60 matrix composites (ZTAp–NbCp/Fe60). ZTAp–NbCp/Fe60 was produced through vacuum sintering and tested on an M-2000 wear-testing machine. As revealed by the results, the wear loss increased with the increase in rotation speed and load. Abrasive wear occurred in the mild wear region; adhesive wear and serious abrasive occurred in the moderate wear region; and fatigue wear and ZTAp broken occurred in the severe wear region. According to the aforementioned conclusions, a more clean and intuitive wear mechanism diagram was established. In the process of wear, ZTAp was well combined with the matrix, and there was no crack at the interface. Meanwhile, in the wear process, ZTAp could block furrow, weaken the wear of the micro-convex ring, and improve the sliding wear performance of the composite material.

This study aimed to explore potential biomarkers and molecular mechanisms in preeclampsia (PE) progression. Gene expression profiles of GSE147776 and GSE96984 were downloaded, followed by the identification of common differentially expressed genes (co-DEGs) and common differentially expressed lncRNAs (co-DElncRNAs) in PE patients between the two datasets. Key genes were identified using gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), followed by functional enrichment analyses. Subsequently, the miRNAs of key genes and miRNA-related lncRNAs were predicted, followed by the construction of the lncRNA–miRNA–gene ceRNA network. Furthermore, the key genes associated with different gestational stages were identified. As a result, 192 co-DEGs and 16 co-DElncRNAs were revealed from the two datasets. Based on two outstanding PE-associated pathways, including glaucoma and PE, identified by GSEA, ten key genes, including IGFBP1, CORIN, and C3, were revealed. Key genes, including IL1A and IL1B, were enriched in the developmental process involved in reproduction. Furthermore, ceRNAs, such as LINC00473-miR-4476-IL1A, LINC00473-miR-1291-IL1B, and NAV2-AS4-miR-6131-REN, were identified. Moreover, REN expression was significantly upregulated in the first- and second-trimester placentae compared to C-section-term placentae. In conclusion, these key genes may serve as novel biomarkers for PE. The detection of REN expression may help in the early prediction of PE and the initiation of prophylactic medical treatment.

The effectiveness of adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based gene therapy is frequently constrained by the presence of AAV-neutralizing antibodies (NAbs). Existing detection techniques have shown inconsistencies across laboratories and cellular dependencies, challenging their universal applicability. Here, we redefine the NAb titer concept to represent the capability to neutralize a specific number of AAV virions per milliliter of serum. We present the AAV-homology-directed repair (HDR) assay, which harnesses the CRISPR-Cas9 system, offering a precise and sensitive means of detecting AAV NAbs. This assay employs a promoterless AAV HDR vector for integration into electroporated cells, facilitating the stable expression of a quantifiable fluorescent reporter and subsequent NAb titer assessment. Comparative evaluations indicated that the AAV-HDR method outperforms the traditional AAV overexpression (AAV-OE) assay regarding sensitivity and consistency. Crucially, it produced consistent outcomes across various cell lines, suggesting its potential as a universal standard for NAb titer measurement. We further confirmed the validity of the AAV-HDR titration approach by juxtaposing it with the established NT50 assay. Notably, the AAV-HDR method correlated robustly with both the AAV-OE assay and NT50 NAb titer values, and it exhibited heightened efficacy in identifying low-titer antibodies compared with the NT50 method. Given its ability to address AAV NAb detection challenges, the AAV-HDR assay holds promise for refining therapeutic strategies in gene therapy, particularly in tailoring AAV doses to neutralize preexisting NAbs. With the continuous development of the power Internet of Things (PIoT), smart devices (SDs) have been widely used in electric power inspections. Due to the limited resources of intelligent inspection SDs and the distance of overhead transmission lines, many inspection tasks cannot be processed promptly. This paper proposes a multi-hop-based end-edge cooperative computing (MHCC) scheme to address inspection task processing in power IoT. We formulate a multi-hop task offloading problem that minimizes the energy consumption of inspection SDs with delay constraints. We develop a JDPSO algorithm to solve the multi-hop task offloading problem and evaluate the algorithm's performance based on numerous simulation experiments. The experimental results show that JDPSO reduces the system's energy consumption by 56.30%, 48.56%, 78.87%, 50.89%, 30.85%, and 68.31%, and also reduces delay by 50.69%, 42.78%, 58.67%, 44.84%, 10.22%, and 62.88% compared to GA, RSA, SSA, MFO, DOA, and ALC schemes.
