In this study, a pulsed laser operating at a wavelength of 1064 nm and with a pulse width of 100 ns was utilized for the removal of paint from the surface of a 2024 aluminum alloy. The experimental investigation was conducted to analyze the influence of laser parameters on the efficacy of paint layer removal from the aircraft skin's surface and the subsequent evolution in the microstructure of the laser-treated aluminum alloy substrate. The mechanism underlying laser cleaning was explored through simulation. The findings revealed that power density and scanning speed significantly affected the quality of cleaning. Notably, there were discernible damage thresholds and optimal cleaning parameters in repetitive frequency, with a power density of 178.25 MW/cm2, scanning speed of 500 mm/s, and repetitive frequency of 40 kHz identified as the primary optimal settings for achieving the desired cleaning effect. Thermal ablation and thermal vibration were identified as the principal mechanisms of cleaning. Understanding the evolution of rural landscapes in metropolises during rapid urbanization is crucial for formulating policies to protect the rural ecological environment. In this study, remote sensing and geographical information system data, as well as applied landscape index analysis, are used to examine the spatiotemporal evolution of rural landscape patterns in the Beijing-Tianjin region of China, which has experienced rapid urbanization. The relationships between land use/land cover changes and changes in rural landscape patterns are explored. The results revealed significant spatial differences in the rural landscapes in the Beijing-Tianjin region; farmland and forestland were the main types of landscapes, creating a "mountain-field-sea" natural landscape pattern. The conversion of rural landscapes in the Beijing-Tianjin region involved mainly the conversion of farmland to urban areas, with few exchanges between other landscape types. The urban areas in the Beijing-Tianjin region increased by 3% per decade; farmland decreased at the same rate. Additionally, the rural landscape patterns in the Beijing-Tianjin region were dominated by fragmentation, dispersion, and heterogeneity and moved from complex to regular. Water bodies displayed the most fragmented natural landscape; their number of patches increased by 36%, though their network characteristics were maintained. Forestland was the most concentrated natural landscape. In this study, theoretical support and a scientific reference for the optimization of rural landscape patterns and the improvement in rural living environments in rapidly urbanizing areas are provided. The Xianshuihe fault zone in the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is an important active tectonic boundary. Understanding its stress state is important for characterizing the dynamic evolution of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the mechanism of the frequent occurrence of large earthquakes. Using 30 years of in-situ stress data from the Xianshuihe active fault zone, we statistically analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics of the stress in the region. The study area is generally characterized by a strike-slip stress field. Nevertheless, the stress state is vulnerable to topography and shows high spatial variation near the Earth's surface at a depth of 0-400 m. The local stress near the fault zone varies from the far-field stress. The orientations of the maximum horizontal principal stress possess an elliptical shape around the fault zone, while its magnitudes become hump-like as the distance increases from the fault. The large difference in properties between the fault zone and its adjacent rocks contributes to the differentiation of the direction of the local stress field near the fault. The results allow us to formulate a preliminary hypothesis that a rigid lateral extrusion model may control the nonuniformity of the local stress field in the Xianshuihe fault zone and preferentially interpret the tectonic uplift of the southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Further, the stress accumulation in the shallow crustal regions of the Xianshuihe fault zone is relatively high, indicating that some segments of the fault zone are critically unstable. Kangding area (the Zheduotang segment and the Yalahe segment) and Luhuo segment hold relatively high potential for large earthquakes. The results of this study are of great significance for revealing the mechanism of fault-stress field interactions and for understanding the dynamic evolution mechanism of the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Soda–lime glass has a wide range of applications in the fields of smart electronics, optical components, and precision originals. In order to investigate the effect of processing parameters on picosecond Bessel laser cutting of soda–lime glass and to achieve high-quality soda–lime glass cutting, a series of cutting experiments were conducted in this study. In this study, it was found that the machining point spacing, the incident laser energy, and the number of burst modes had a significant effect on the machining of the samples. The atomic force microscope (AFM) showed a better quality of roughness of the machined cross-section when the spacing of the machining points was 1 μm, a locally optimal solution was obtained when the number of burst modes was 2, and a locally optimal solution was also obtained when the incident laser power was 11.5 W. In this study, better machining quality was achieved for soda–lime glass of 1 mm thickness, with an average roughness of 158 nm and a local optimum of 141 nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Not all wearable fitness devices are suitable for children. Due to the decay of activity recognition accuracy and exercise requirement variety caused by the physical differences between adults and children, devices developed for adults cannot provide appropriate exercise guidance to children. Considering the complexity and time‐consuming nature of developing a new children‐specific model, this article proposes a child adaptation mechanism that can be integrated into current adult wearable devices. Two algorithms using unlabeled children's data for age group recognition and activity recognition inspired by the visual variability in cognitive process and visuo‐tactile coordination phenomenon in cortical plasticity are proposed. During an experiment on 30 adults and children, the age group recognition algorithm achieves 93.33% recognition accuracy, and the activity recognition algorithm achieves 88.57% recognition accuracy. This is an 11.16% improvement compared with the baseline and 2.87–4.1% improvement compared with the state‐of‐the‐art transfer learning or self‐adaptation algorithms. The proposed mechanism ameliorates current wearable devices with minimum cost to make them suitable for children and can serve as an alternative to help children learn healthy exercise habits. The results of laboratory measurements of large focusing wave groups, which were generated using the New Wave theory, are presented. The influences of both the steepness and frequency bandwidth on focused wave characteristics were examined. The influence of frequency bandwidth on focused wave groups with small and moderate steepness was very small. However, for cases with the large steepness, the nonlinearity increased with increasing bandwidth frequency and widened free-wave regimes are identified for those cases with large steepness at the focal location. The underlying nonlinear phase coupling of focused waves was examined using wavelet-based bicoherence and biphase, which can detect nonlinear phase coupling in a short time series. For wave groups with large initial steepness, as wave groups approached the focal location, the values of bicoherence between primary waves and its higher harmonics progressively increased to 1 and the corresponding biphase was gradually close to zero, suggesting that an extreme wave event can be produced by considering Stokes-like nonlinearity to very high-order. Furthermore, the fast change of bicoherence of focused wave groups indicates that the nonlinear energy transfer within focusing waves is faster than that of nonfocusing wave trains.
