L’accueil croissant de tournages de séries dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais est le fruit d’une politique régionale en faveur des industries créatives et d’une filière images jugée stratégique. L’article repose sur l’hypothèse que les séries se distinguent des autres formes de fictions tournées localement dans la mesure où, en lien avec le festival Séries Mania, elles seraient plus propices à un changement d’image et pourraient favoriser un processus de démarginalisation des espaces de la région qui restent marqués par la crise. Cela implique d’interroger les expériences locales menées pour tirer profit de ces tournages et tenter d’en faire un levier pour impulser des dynamiques nouvelles, notamment, mais pas seulement, en termes de (ciné)-tourisme. The growing number of TV series shot in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais is the result of a regional policy which aims to promote creative and cultural industries. The article is based on the hypothesis that series differ from other forms of fiction shot locally in that, in connection with the Séries Mania Festival, they would be more conducive to a change of image and would perhaps better promote a process of demarginalisation of the spaces of the region which are still marked by the crisis. This implies questioning the local experiments carried out to take advantage of these film shoots and to try to make them a lever for stimulating new dynamics, particularly - but not only- in terms of (film)-tourism.

The objective of this retrospective single centre study was to determine whether different enteric reconstruction methods and adjuncts confer a benefit after in situ reconstructions (ISRs) of graft aorto-enteric erosion (AEnE) and fistula (AEnF).Primary endpoints were in hospital mortality and AEnE/F recurrence. Survival was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and explanatory factors were searched for using uni- ± multivariable Cox regression analysis. In 2013, a multidisciplinary team meeting was convened and since then the primary operator has always been a senior surgeon.Sixty-six patients were treated for AEnE (n = 38) and AEnF (n = 28, 42%) from 2004 to 2020. All patients with AEnF presented with gastrointestinal bleeding (vs. 0 for AEnE; p.001). Signs of infection were seen in 50 patients (76% [37 for AEnE vs. 13 for AEnF]; p.001). Referrals for endograft infection increased over time (n = 15, 23%; one before 2013 vs. 14 after; p = .002). Most patients underwent complete graft excision (n = 52, 79%) with increasing suprarenal cross clamping (n = 21, 32%; four before 2013 vs. 17 after; p = .015). Complex visceral reconstructions decreased over time (n = 31, 47%; 17 before 2013 vs. 14 after; p = .055), while "open abdomens" (OAs) increased (one before 2013 vs. 22 after; p.001), reducing operating time (p = .012). In hospital mortality reached 42% (n = 28). Estimated survival reached 47.6% (95% confidence interval [CI] 35.0 - 59.1) at one year and 45.6% (95% CI 33.0 - 57.3) at three years and was higher for AEnE than for AEnF (log rank p = .029). AEnE/F recurrence was noted in 12 patients (18%). Older age predicted in hospital mortality in multivariable analysis (p = .034). AEnE/F recurrence decreased with the presence of a primary senior surgeon (vs. junior; p = .003) and OA (1 [4.4%] vs. 11 [26%] for primary fascial closure; p = .045) in univariable analysis.Mortality and recurrence rates remain high after ISR of AEnE/F. Older age predicted in hospital mortality. Primary closure of enteric defects ≤ 2 cm in diameter reduced operating time without increasing the recurrence of AEnF.

Recently, we discovered a huge photochromic effect for ZnO/MoO3 powder mixtures compared with the corresponding single oxides. The former study focused on the coloring efficiency after UV-light irradiation and demonstrated that the pre-existing electrons in the conductive band of ZnO are of huge importance to the photochromism efficiency. Herein, the creation of the “self-closed Schottky barrier” at the solid–solid interfaces between the two oxides, associated with the full redox reaction at the origin of the photochromic properties, was modulated by (i) doping ZnO with Al3+ ions, (ii) annealing the powder mixture under low p(O2) atmosphere, and (iii) synthesizing our own ZnO nanoparticles and MoO3 particles using a polyol process. The characterization of the colouring effect under irradiation as well as the self-bleaching process allowed shedding light on this very complex photochromic mechanism. The coloring and bleaching efficiency (i.e. possibility to darken to more or less deep blue and to come back to the virgin material optical properties without any deterioration) depends upon multiple interconnected parameters controlling either the particle size and the interface areas between MoO3 and ZnO oxides or the number of pre-electrons in conduction bands of ZnO and MoO3 oxides. By correctly interpreting the ins and outs of the photochromism taking place at the created Schottky barriers in these binary ZnO/MoO3 mixtures, the exchange of the electrons and the oxygen anions through this Schottky interface can be manipulated in order to optimize the huge photochromism phenomenon.

International audience; ZnO/MoO3 powder mixture exhibits a huge photochromic effect in comparison with the corresponding single oxides. The coloring efficiency of such combined material after UV-light irradiation was studied in terms of intensity, kinetics, and ZnO/MoO3 powder ratio. Additionally, the incidence of the pretreatment step of the ZnO and MoO3 powders under different atmospheres (air, Ar or Ar/H2 flow) was analyzed. The huge photochromic effect discovered herein was interpreted as the creation of “self-closed Schottky barrier” at the solid/solid interfaces between the two oxides, associated with the full redox reaction which can be pictured by the equation ZnO1−ε + MoO3 → ZnO + MoO3−ε. Remarkable optical contrast between virgin and color states as well as self-bleaching in dark allowing the reversibility of the photochromism is emphasized. From this first discovery, deeper characterization of the self-bleaching process shows that the photochromic mechanism is complex with a bleaching efficiency (possibility to come back to the virgin material optical properties without any deterioration) and a bleaching kinetics, which are both dependent on the coloring irradiation time. This demonstrates that the oxygen exchange through the Schottky interface proceeds in at least two convoluted steps: an anionic surface exchange allowing a reversibility of the redox reaction followed by bulk diffusion of the exchanged anions which are then definitively trapped. An emergent “negative photochromism effect” (i.e., photochromism associated with a self-bleaching instead of a darkening under irradiation) is observed after a long irradiation time.

Controlling supramolecular polymerization is of fundamental importance to create advanced materials and devices. Here we show that the thermodynamic equilibrium of Gd3+-bearing supramolecular rod networks is shifted reversibly at room temperature in a static magnetic field of up to 2 T. Our approach opens opportunities to control the structure formation of other supramolecular or coordination polymers that contain paramagnetic ions.

Background Sacrificing a replaced right hepatic artery (rRHA) from the superior mesenteric artery is occasionally necessary to obtain an R0 resection after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PA). Preoperative embolization (PEA) of the rRHA has been proposed to avoid the onset of postoperative biliary and ischemic liver complications. Methods Eighteen patients with cephalic PA with an rRHA underwent PEA of the rRHA from 2013 to 2019. The monitoring after embolization and PD was systematic and included a clinical-biological evaluation and a computed tomography scan. This study aimed to determine the feasibility of PEA of the rRHA, postoperative morbidity at 90 days, and quality of oncologic resection after PD. Results Feasibility of PEA was 100% without complications. A PD was performed in 16/18 patients. Mortality was 2/16 with one death after septic shock with hepatic ischemia without an arterial obstruction. Overall morbidity was 44% including one hepatic abscess after hepatic ischemia (6%). Two resections were R1 ( Conclusion PEA of the rRHA before PD was safe and reproducible. PEA of the rRHA followed by en bloc PD resection seems to limit the risk of bilio-hepatic ischemia and could facilitate oncologic resection.

Understanding and controlling supramolecular polymerization are of fundamental importance to create advanced materials and devices. Many stimuli have been explored in the past decades, but magnetic fields and field gradients have received little attention. This is because magnets do not provide enough magnetic energy to overcome thermal noise at the single molecule level. Here we show that significant changes in network topology of Gd3+-decorated supramolecular polymer rods can nevertheless be observed using magnetic fields of order 1 T at room temperature. The structure of the rod networks is influenced during a slow diffusive process over a timescale of hours by the anisotropy of the demagnetizing field. Our approach opens opportunities to control and tune structure formation of many supramolecular and coordination polymers using a variety of rare earth or other paramagnetic ions.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this retrospective study was to compare portal vein embolization (PVE) and radiologica simultaneous portohepatic vein embolization (RASPE) for future liver remnant (FLR) growth in terms of feasibility, safety, and efficacy. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA After portal vein embolization (PVE), 15% of patients remain ineligible for hepatic resection due to insufficient hypertrophy of the FLR. BACKGROUND Despite a high prevalence of angiodysplasia, no specific guidelines are available for the modalities of endoscopic exploration of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding in von Willebrand disease (VWD). Whether VWD patients could benefit from video capsule endoscopy (VCE) looking for angiodysplasia eligible to endoscopic treatment or at high risk of bleeding is unknown. OBJECTIVES To assess the diagnostic efficacy for angiodysplasia and the prognostic value of VCE on top of conventional endoscopy in VWD patients with GI bleeding. PATIENTS/METHODS A survey was sent to the 30 centers of the French-network on inherited bleeding disorders to identify VWD patients referred for endoscopic exploration of GI bleeding from January 2015 to December 2017. Data obtained included patient characteristics, VWD phenotype/genotype, GI bleeding pattern, results of endoscopic investigations, and medical management applied including endoscopic therapy. We assessed by Kaplan-Meier analysis the recurrence-free survival after the first GI bleeding event according to endoscopic categorization and, in patients with angiodysplasia, to the presence of small-bowel localizations on VCE exploration. International audience; Mechanical interactions of chiral objects with their environment are well-established at the macroscale, like a propeller on a plane or a rudder on a boat. At the colloidal scale and smaller, however, such interactions are often not considered or deemed irrelevant due to Brownian motion. As we will show in this tutorial review, mechanical interactions do have significant effects on chiral objects at all scales, and can be induced using shearing surfaces, collisions with walls or repetitive microstructures, fluid flows, or by applying electrical or optical forces. Achieving chiral resolution by mechanical means is very promising in the field of soft matter and to industry, but has not received much attention so far.

International audience; Controlling supramolecular growth at solid surfaces is of great importance to expand the scope of supramolecular materials. Here we describe a dendritic benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxamide peptide conjugate whose assembly can be triggered by a pH jump. Stopped flow kinetics and mathematical modeling provide a quantitative understanding of the nucleation, elongation, and fragmentation behavior in solution. To assemble the molecule at a solid-liquid interface, we use proton diffusion from the bulk. The latter needs to be slower than the lag phase of nucleation in order to progressively grow a hydrogel outwards from the surface. Our method of surface-assisted self-assembly is generally applicable to other gelators, and can be used to create structured supramolecular materials.

Children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) often suffer from growth failure because of disturbances in energy balance with an increase of resting energy expenditure (REE). Evaluation of REE is a useful tool for nutritional management. Indirect calorimetry is an elective method for measuring REE, but it is time consuming and requires rigorous procedure. The objective of this study was to test accuracy of prediction equation to evaluate REE in BPD children. Fifty-two children aged 4–10 years with BPD (30 boys and 22 girls) and 30 healthy lean children (20 boys and 10 girls) were enrolled. In this study, indirect calorimetry was compared to four prediction equations (Schoffield-W, Schoffield-HW, Harris–Benedict and Food and Agriculture Organization equation) using Bland–Altman pair wise comparison. The Harris–Benedict equation was the best equation to predict REE in children with BPD, and Schoffield-W was the best in healthy children. For the children with chronic lung disease of prematurity the Harris–Benedict equation showed the lowest mean predicted REE−REE measured by indirect calorimetry difference (difference=15 kcal/day; limits of agreement −266 and 236 kcal/day; 95% confidence interval for the bias −207 to 177 kcal/day), and graphically, the best agreement. For the group of healthy children, it was the Schofield-W equation (−2.9 kcal/day; limits of agreement −275 and 269 kcal/day; 95% confidence interval for the bias −171 to 165 kcal/day), and graphically, the best agreement. Differences in prediction equation are minimal compared to calorimetry. Prediction equation could be useful in the management of children with BPD.

Background: Detection of children’s psychological difficulties in crises and low resource settings is challenged by the lack of a validated, rapid and simple tool. We present the results of two confirmatory validations of the Psychological Screening for Young Children aged 3 to 6 years (PSYCa 3–6) scale. Methods: We performed cross-cultural validations, assessing the performance of the scale in different contexts. These were conducted in Mathare, Nairobi, Kenya and Buenaventura, Colombia between December 2009 and February 2012. External validity was assessed comparing the PSYCa 3–6 against a clinical interview and the Clinical Global Impression Severity scale (CGI).
