Moreover, the study underscores a direct link between SMME expansion and increased GDP growth, underscoring the vital role of these enterprises in shaping the economic landscape. However, in the extended period spanning 1995–2023, which encompasses both economic booms and recessions, the potential of opportunity-driven SMMEs wanes, attributed partly to business closures amid a recession. The major contribution of this study is that a combination of factors influences the impact SMMEs have on various socio-economic indicators. The insights gleaned from this research deepen our understanding of the intricate connections between SMMEs and broader socio-economic factors, offering valuable implications for policymakers and practitioners aiming to foster sustainable economic development.

Purpose - The study aims for bibliometric as well as systematic review analysis by analyzing trends in various authors, documents, topics, conceptual structures, collaboration networks, and additional information in the field of women's micro-entrepreneurship. Methodology-This work analyzed a total of 130 publications that were recovered from the WOS (Web of Science) record from 2018 to 2023 and conclusions were drawn using the 'bibliometric R-package' and 'VOS viewer'. Findings-Observations have shown that after 2021, scholarly attention quickened. Trends related to women's micro-entrepreneurship during the selected period include women, entrepreneurship, perspective, perceptions, efficacy, and innovation. In developing nations such as India, women are often viewed as family supporters and their husbands often do not support them in starting their businesses. Various studies examine policies and agencies responsible for improving women's micro-entrepreneurship, focusing on policy implementation and microfinance factors like savings, network affiliation, training, and credit access. The state plays a vibrant role in developing the socioeconomic status and technological knowledge of female micro-entrepreneurs. Rather than just launching financial schemes, more intensive training for micro-entrepreneurship development is needed. Practical implications- Practitioners, and researchers will find this bibliometric analysis and the mentioned dimensions useful which serves as a basis for upcoming research in this area. Originality- The findings may give scholars and professionals information about the current situation and trending topics of female entrepreneurs. The Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) is a key initiative under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) by the Ministry of Rural Development. SVEP is designed to support rural entrepreneurs in establishing local enterprises, with a long-term vision of creating one crore village enterprises and generating direct employment for two crore individuals. The program aims to help the rural poor overcome poverty by fostering sustainable enterprises and providing continuous support until these businesses stabilize. SVEP addresses three critical gaps in rural entrepreneurship: knowledge, advisory, and finance ecosystems. During its initial phase (2015-2019), SVEP supported the creation and strengthening of approximately 1.82 lakh village enterprises across 125 blocks in 24 states, generating employment opportunities for around 3.78 lakh individuals. A significant focus of SVEP is the economic empowerment of women in India. This article examines the impact of SVEP in Kerala in 2024, highlighting the opportunities it creates for women's self-development and empowerment, as well as the broader economic development of Kerala. Purpose – This paper offers a theoretical explanation to a positive story of a micro enterprise found in Uganda, an African developing country that has successfully managed workplace relationships, its survival and good performance. Specifically, the paper examines multiple theories to explain the practice in this enterprise. Design/methodology/approach – The study uses storytelling, a form of narrative inquiry embedded in qualitative methodology. Based on in-depth interviews with the owner-manager and employees, a story was developed detailing their practical experience while focusing on the context, actions, results and lessons. Findings – Findings reveal that micro enterprises that allow free generation of ideas across all levels with optimistic people who reciprocate and work together create a friendly work atmosphere with support for one another, with the ability to amicably resolve conflicts and build trust. More so, theories including social exchange theory, relational cohesion theory, complex adaptive systems theory and cultural historical activity theory help explain the manifestations of relational people management in micro enterprises. Originality/value – This paper is unique in its use of a positive story showing a practical experience of how workplace relationships are managed in a micro enterprise found in Uganda. In addition, a multi-theoretical perspective is used to explain the manifestations in the story which may be novel in the study context. Thus, a conceptual model is proposed depicting generalized reciprocity, positive emotions, generative leadership and relational agency as antecedents of relational people management with relational agency again mediating the other relationships.

According to several previous studies, entrepreneurial risk-taking is an important aspect that can lead to prospective business opportunities, hence improving entrepreneurial outcomes such as enterprise performance. The main purpose of this paper is to examine the extent and degree of impact of entrepreneurial risk-taking (ERT) as one of the dimensions of entrepreneurial mindset on the performance of micro enterprises in Skikda, Algeria. Based on a self-administered survey questionnaire, data were collected from a random sample of 142 micro-enterprises in Skikda. The study adopted descriptive, correlation, and regression analyses to estimate the impact of entrepreneurial risk-taking. collected data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 22) programme. The findings demonstrate that entrepreneurial risk-taking significantly affects the performance of micro enterprises in Skikda. Of the total variance of the performance of micro enterprise’s, 9.2% can be explained by the variability of entrepreneurial risk-taking. A small percentage is expected and can partly be explained by the presence of other factors that affect the performance of these enterprises as well as the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the process of economic activity and available business opportunities worldwide, especially these very small enterprises. However, the presence of this positive impact calls for a focus on raising the risk-taking spirit of existing and potential Algerian entrepreneurs, by holding conferences, forums and entrepreneurial programmes that enhance and support this characteristic of the entrepreneurial mindset.

Constraints in implementing financing and insufficient cash to meet the needs of KJKS BMT customers in developing their micro-businesses in the Lubuk Lintah community, Padang City, are the background of this research. The cause of the cash shortage is due to problem loans. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Based on the results of research on KJKS BMT, Lubuk Leetah Village, it was found: (1) Determination of monitoring and measurement tools (standards) for improving community micro businesses in Lubuk Leetah Village, Kuranji District. According to the measuring tool (standard) developed by the Padang City Cooperative Service for KJKS BMT Lubuk Lintah Village, namely evaluating by looking at and identifying problems in developing the implementation of the plan, includes several performance benchmarks, including: number of project sites, investment funds, non-performing loans , Revenue and Membership. (2) Evaluation of KJKS BMT supervision to improve community micro businesses in Lubuk Lintah Village. The assessment was carried out under the guidance of KJKS BMT Lubuk Lintah Sub- District for the progress of micro-enterprises in the Lubuk Lintah community, before the RAT was implemented. RAT discusses how to deal with financing issues, what is the income at the end of the year. (3) Carry out corrective actions to improve supervision of KJKS BMT in improving community micro businesses in Lubuk Lintah Village. Take corrective actions so that KJKS BMT Lubuk Lintah Subdistrict does not continue to make deviations in its activities.

Purpose: The process of identifying and defining effective delivery mechanisms is a critical issue in the management of microcredit programs to meet the firm's objectives and the customers’ needs. The purpose of this paper is to look at the relative importance of delivery mechanism in microcredit programs. In addition, this paper analyses the relationship between delivery mechanism and business performance among micro enterprises involved in microcredit programs. Methodology: The primary data of the study were obtained from 756 micro entrepreneurs under two major microcredit programs (AIM and TEKUN). Descriptive and t-test analysis were used to explain the findings of the study. Findings: Analysis of the study shows that cooperation from staff, the duration and method of loan repayment and monitoring of loan capital are important mechanism in the management of microcredit programs. T-test analysis revealed a significant difference in delivery mechanism between the two microcredit programs involved. Empirical findings show that the performance of micro enterprises under the AIM microcredit program is better than that of micro enterprises under the TEKUN microcredit program. Practical Implications: The performance of a microcredit program depends largely on their resource management. This involves operational efficiency, credit products offered, and customer support services. These three elements are critical factors in determining the effectiveness of the delivery mechanism in a microcredit program. Subject and purpose of work: Micro Enterprises (UMKM) have a great potential to support the economic condition, however, if it is not balanced with managerial abilities, team effectiveness is not maximised. This study investigates increasing team effectiveness through training and mentoring in making Qur’ani job designs of micro enterprises.

The article presents considerations regarding the functioning of micro enterprises on the market and their impact on the social security of the state. The concept of micro enterprise and social security has been explained in detail. Social security threats and the role of micro sector companies in shaping this area of state security were also discussed. The considerations highlighted the importance of small business in creating conditions for economic stability and development guarantees for local communities.

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of functioning of micro and small agribusinesses in Ukraine, to identify the negative factors influencing the result of such enterprises and to formulate directions for the development of small agribusiness. Methodology / approach. The methodological basis of the research is a systematic approach to the study of economic phenomena. Among the special methods, the abstract-logical method was used to highlight the peculiarities of functioning of small enterprises of Ukraine and to formulate conclusions and recommendations; economic-and-statistical, in identifying trends and patterns of development of micro and small enterprises; method of comparison, in the study of the dynamics of individual indicators and graphical, in the analysis and presentation of statistical data. Results. The problems of the current state and dynamics of development of micro and small agricultural enterprises are considered. The results of the analysis of functioning of such enterprises and their importance in agribusiness of Ukraine are presented. The negative factors influencing the result of small business activity and the need for state support are highlighted. The necessity of innovative development of micro and small agribusiness is substantiated. The basic directions of formation and development of small agribusiness for the future are investigated. Originality / scientific novelty. Author’s interpretation of the term «agribusiness» is provided; the peculiarities of the functioning of micro and small enterprises in Ukraine, determination of their main components received further study; the place of such enterprises in the modern agribusiness is determined and the main directions of development are formed. Practical value / implications. The concrete measures on directions of small agribusiness development in Ukraine are offered. Improvement of the tax system and availability of agribusiness lending are among the main ones.

In a highly competitive environment businesses interact stakeholders who come from different cultures. The interaction of individuals from different cultures can cause communication problems. In terms of overcoming communication problems caused by cultural differences, cultural intelligence is a developing field of study for management scientists. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of cultural intelligence on entrepreneurship orientation. In order to test the main hypotheses data were collected from micro scale enterprises in Laleli market by questionnaire method. Cultural intelligence scale (Ang, Van Dyne, Koh, Ng, Templer, Tay ve Chandrasekar 2007) and entreprenurial orientation scale (Bouncken vd., 2014; Chen vd., 2015; Hughes ve Morgan, 2007) were used as assesment tools of the questionaire. Hypotheses tested with Smart-PLS 2.0 programme. Tests results show that metacognitive, motivational and behavioral cultural intelligence has a significant effect on some of the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation such as risk taking, innovation and proactivity.

This article explores women’s entrepreneurship research conducted in Zimbabwe. For this purpose, a literature review approach was adopted where all journal articles published between 1990 and 2018 that addressed the issues of women entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe were searched and analysed. The articles were searched on Google Scholar using the following keywords: women entrepreneurs, women small business owners, women in informal sector and Zimbabwe. In total, 11 articles were retrieved, indicating a dearth of research studies on women entrepreneurship, particularly from the formal sector perspective, giving a glimpse of the entrepreneurship landscape in Zimbabwe. The content analysis of the selected articles resulted in the identification of eight themes: (1) feminism perspective, (2) informal sector trading, (3) motivations for entrepreneurship, (4) entrepreneurship characteristics, (5) obstacles in entrepreneurship, (6) socio-cultural challenges, (7) cross-border trading and (8) coping strategies within the context of women entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe. Discussions on these themes were situated within the broader literature and trends on existing women entrepreneurship literature. The study has implications at a practical and theoretical level. Supporting women entrepreneurship has positive effects on poverty reduction in agreement with the Sustainable Development Goals, and this study suggests women’s empowerment to operate at higher echelons of the business sector with bespoke support mechanism that fosters sustainable development. Also, the study proposed suggestions for future research on women entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe and other African countries.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the motivation of collaborators based on the Maslow pyramid, in order to have an approach to the subject of motivation in family micro-businesses, such as cybercafé, where business is income from computer systems and the internet. Originality/value: This paper is original to find solutions to the existent gap in motivating collaborators of micro family business dedicated to the service of renting computers for the Internet. The main implication is to generate proposals for the improvement of labor motivation in the aforementioned family micro-enterprises. Design/methodology/approach: A questionnaire elaborated on the scale of Likert is applied to diagnose motivation and job satisfaction starting from the Maslow pyramid. With a sample of 7 employees, who work in the company mentioned above, the questionnaire was applied to Google forms. Summary of key results: The results presented by the study of job motivation in cybercafé are not favorable to the company, due to the representativeness showed by the “indifferent” option chosen by the employees in the scenarios presented in the questionnaire. This can create uncertainty due to the impartiality or to some extent insecurity in the employee when choosing the option “indifferent”. Findings: Labor motivation in the family micro-business partners may be a little complex to address under the Maslow theory, and in general, that of any models, which have been developed, because of to the environment, in which these family companies are set up and operate.

The aim of the paper is to present significant factors of strategic management in the sector of small and medium-sized companies. Within the set goal, we quantify the weight of selected strategic management factors and compare trends in the Czech and Slovak Republics. An empirical research was carried out in 2020. In the Czech Republic, we obtained data from 454 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and in Slovakia from 368 enterprises belonging to the segment of small and medium-sized enterprises. We used chi-square and Z-score to process the data. The basic conclusion of the research is that even though SMEs perceive the importance of strategic management in the enterprise very strongly, strategic management is not adequately implemented in the everyday life of the enterprise. Entrepreneurs in both countries are not too convinced that quality strategic management enhances the competitive ability of the enterprise. About half of the companies are involved in regular strategic management. There are statistically significant differences according to the size and age of the enterprise, or according to the education of entrepreneurs. Larger companies and more educated entrepreneurs better understand the importance of strategic aspects and the need for their application in corporate governance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We live in a complex world and managers of organizations are constantly facing numerous challenges. Good decisions, i.e., better outcomes for organizations, require use of the powerful discipline Operational Research (OR)/Management Science (MS). Organizations applying this discipline have achieved significant benefits such as cost reduction, increased revenues, increased market share, higher quality, improved productivity, improved performance, better customer service, etc. The aim of this paper is to examine whether managers of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Macedonia use OR models for supporting decision-making processes, where OR models, methods and techniques are commonly used, and what benefits achieved in using quantitative OR models, methods and techniques. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire distributed electronically to 100 managers of micro, 100 managers of small and 100 managers of medium-sized enterprises. The questionnaires were answered completely by 93 managers of the micro, 73 managers of the small and 71 managers of the medium-sized enterprises, and the questionnaire responses were subsequently analyzed. The answers showed that decisions on running enterprises are made intuitively by 90% of managers of the micro, 78% of managers of the small, and 55% of managers of the medium-sized enterprises, while quantitative OR models for supporting the decision-making process are used by 10% of managers of the micro, 22% of managers of the small, and 45% of managers of the medium-sized enterprises. Applied in the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises are inventory models, time series analysis and forecasting, whereas micro and medium-sized enterprises rely on decision analysis. Small and medium-sized enterprises use break-even analysis, assignation, linear programming, and project management. The OR models and methods used in running the respective enterprises led to the following results: optimal inventory level, cost reductions, revenue growth, forecasted sales, increased sales, production optimization, improved quality, better planning of activities, more efficient allocation of staff, absence of complaints and increased customers satisfaction.

This article deals with the challenges that are faced by micro and small enterprises using data. After naming main hypotheses of the research, the attention is paid to definitions of big and small data and to their comparison. In the paper, analyses of the connections between big data and Internet are given. The main attention is paid to the use of big data in micro and small enterprises through the analyses of needed skills, organizational changes and big data management including possible pros and cons. As a special item, the analysis of risks and implementation is given. The analyses are supported with a lot of research results and numerous literature sources. At the end of the article there are conclusions about directions how micro and small enterprises should use big data and how to invest rationally in big data.

The objective of this comprehensive research is to identify and explore the dissimilarities of gender and education level of entrepreneurs and enterprises’ age with regards to entrepreneurial orientation (EO) in the segment of micro enterprises. All of the dimensions of EO are included such as innovativeness, risk taking, proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness and autonomy for our analysis. The data that we have used for this study, was collected by a structured questionnaire during 2015 in Czech Republic, and consists of 1141 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and 740 of them are defined as micro enterprises by using the definition of European Commission. The empirical results of our study indicates a that university educated micro-entrepreneurs are more innovative and autonomous comparing with lower educated micro-entrepreneurs and also younger micro firms are more innovative, risk taker and proactive than the older micro firms. However, our results do not show any significant differences between men and women in relation to the all components of EO. Our result can be explained by having higher percentage of university educated women micro entrepreneurs comparing with their men counterparts and education may have a substitution effect on the gender based differences in the segment of micro firms.

The new millennium is seen as an epoch of entrepreneurship with entrepreneurs perceiving novel opportunities, organizing resources, undertaking risks to pursue their goals in establishing innovative ventures for scaling new horizons. Women entrepreneurs have the potency to confront numerous challenges, such as creating equity, equilibrium, ensuring sustainable and inclusive socio economic development in divergent economies, by seizing tremendous business opportunities in the contemporary commercial world. Kerala, the southern State of India, is experiencing an economic renovation through technological transformation and, in particular, through the growth of women oriented Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The study aims to; identify the growth trends of women’s entrepreneurship in the micro enterprises of Kerala; examine whether women’s entrepreneurial activities significantly vary across the form of women owned enterprises, type of organization and nature of activity; and also explore the prospects and challenges faced by women entrepreneurs through micro entrepreneurial activities. Research methodology involves the application of descriptive quantitative analysis on the secondary data primarily collected from the database of Directorate of Industries and District Industries Centre for a period of 7 years extending from 2007-08 to 2013-14. Findings reveal that MSMEs spawn better income distribution, by operating in heterogeneous areas of the economy with limited capital and creating more employment opportunities, thereby reducing poverty and inequalities. The trend analysis reflects an escalation in the number of enterprises, investments, profits and employment opportunities generated especially through micro enterprises of women. They play a crucial role in the economy in terms of creating self employment and generating employment opportunities for others. A paradigm shift is seen in the role of women’s entrepreneurship in terms of innovation, attitudes, leadership qualities, competitiveness, entrepreneurial skill and absorbing new entrants to the job market, empowering marginalized women.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a distinctive formula (framework) for micro-enterprise success. As the success of micro-enterprise is under debate from many decades, however, the researchers and entrepreneurs are unable to find the unique factor to develop a comprehensive framework. Design/Methodology/Approach: The current study is based on conceptual framework. Prior studies are used to develop the framework and hypothesis. Moreover, conclusion is based on literature review. Findings: It is investigated that, microfinance factors (i.e., micro-credit and micro-training) has a positive relationship with micro-enterprise success. However, among all other microfinance factors (i.e., micro-saving, micro-insurance, social capital), micro-credit and micro-training have relatively higher effect on microenterprise performance followed by a level of education. Moreover, it is found that education mediates the relation between microfinance factors and micro-enterprise success. Implications/Originality/Value: This study contributed to the body of knowledge by developing a micro-enterprise success formula for researchers and entrepreneurs, which ultimately improve the performance of micro-enterprises. Hence, the current study is beneficial for microfinance institutions and other practitioners to enhance micro-enterprise success.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the motivation of collaborators based on the Maslow pyramid, in order to have an approach to the subject of motivation in family micro-businesses, such as cybercafé, where business is income from computer systems and the internet. Originality/value: This paper is original to find solutions to the existent gap in motivating collaborators of micro family business dedicated to the service of renting computers for the Internet. The main implication is to generate proposals for the improvement of labor motivation in the aforementioned family micro-enterprises. Design/methodology/approach: A questionnaire elaborated on the scale of Likert is applied to diagnose motivation and job satisfaction starting from the Maslow pyramid. With a sample of 7 employees, who work in the company mentioned above, the questionnaire was applied to Google forms. Summary of key results: The results presented by the study of job motivation in cybercafé are not favorable to the company, due to the representativeness showed by the "indifferent" option chosen by the employees in the scenarios presented in the questionnaire. This can create uncertainty due to the impartiality or to some extent insecurity in the employee when choosing the option "indifferent". Findings: Labor motivation in the family micro-business partners may be a little complex to address under the Maslow theory, and in general, that of any models, which have been developed, because of to the environment, in which these family companies are set up and operate. After the 1991 financial reforms, the Indian MSMEs are finding it difficult to cope with the challenges of globalization mainly because of poor access to financial services. The MSME sector faces financial problems such as low capital, delayed payments, working capital, lack of timely credit, collateral and interest rate, etc. This study attempts to identify the reasons for micro-entrepreneurs failing to obtain institutional finance for their business. Simple random sampling has been used to collect data from 257 micro-entrepreneurs using a well structured interview schedule. Results of the study reveal that quantum of loan requested by the micro-entrepreneurs seems to be too much for the banks to sanction and this is the major factor contributing to these entrepreneurs failing to get bank credit for their business ventures. Using Factor Analysis, three factors such as poor management, credit capacity and inadequate capital and collateral have been identified as the most important reasons for these micro-entrepreneurs failing to get bank credit for their business. Canonical Correlation has been used to find out the most important reasons for the micro-entrepreneurs failing to get bank credit The reasons vary according to their family size, generation of entrepreneurship, family-orientation of business, location of business venture, type of industry, capital employed and number of business ventures owned and managed by the micro-entrepreneurs.

Mikroprzedsiębiorstwa to istotny stymulator rozwoju gospodarczego. To z nimi wiążą się największe nadzieje na tworzenie nowych miejsc pracy, a tym samym na minimalizowanie bezrobocia i przyspieszanie wzrostu gospodarczego. Po wstąpieniu Polski do UE przedsiębiorstwa, szczególnie przedsiębiorstwa na obszarach wiejskich, uzyskały znaczący dostęp do środków publicznych. W dokumentach unijnych, a w szczególności w Działaniu 312 „Tworzenie i rozwój mikroprzedsiębiorstw” w ramach Programu Rozwoju Obszarów Wiejskich 2007–2013, skupia się uwagę na rozwoju małej przedsiębiorczości i podniesieniu wskaźnika zatrudnienia w szeroko rozumianej gospodarce wiejskiej. W artykule zaprezentowano podstawowe informacje związane z Działaniem 312. Przedstawiono wstępne rezultaty wynikające z realizacji Działania „Tworzenie i rozwój mikroprzedsiębiorstw”, przejawiające się głównie we wzroście zatrudnienia i poprawie kondycji finansowej przedsiębiorstw.

Corporate Social Responsibility is a central issue in modern business and a main factor of companies strategies for competitiveness in a global economy . The recent approval of ISO26000 shows this general tendency to introduce social and environmental principles in global governance and organizational behaviour in all kinds of firms, organizations and multinational corporations. This paper offers a critical approach to the effects of ISO 26000 in the small and medium companies, and cooperatives, too. This norm is not focussed on the particularities of this kind of companies and shows some problems when implementing it in SME & social economy organizations. The question which comes up is if there is a necessity to adapt the implementation of ISO 26000 to these particular firms: in which cases and to what limits. La Responsabilidad Social Corporativa es una cuestión central en la economía moderna, y un factor fundamental en las estrategias competitivas de las empresas, en el marco de una economía globalizada. La reciente aprobación de la norma ISO 26000 recoge la tendencia general de introducir principios sociales y medioambientales en el gobierno global y en la organización de todo tipo de empresas, organizaciones y corporaciones multinacionales. Este artículo ofrece un acercamiento crítico a los efectos de la norma ISO 26000 en las PYMEs y cooperativas. Esta norma no contempla las particularidades de este tipo de compañías, y muestra algunos problemas al implantarlas en PYMEs y organizaciones de la economía social.
