- Abstract
Napkin ring is made of a cylindrical section of metal, likely brass, and has a circular appliqué affixed to one side bearing the inscription "GOTT MIT UNS" around its edge. At the bottom of the appliqué is a wreath, possibly a laurel wreath, with leaves and a bow in the middle. In the center is an Iron Cross, with a royal crown symbol at the top, "W" inscribed in the middle, and "1914" inscribed at the bottom. It is unclear whether this napkin ring was made from an artillery shell; if that was the case, it was likely a 50 mm shell.
