1. The use of cloud technologies when studying geography by higher school students

Abstract

The article is devoted to the topical issue of the cloud technologies implementation in educational process in general and when studying geography, in particular. The authors offer a selection of online services which can contribute to the effective acquisition of geographical knowledge in higher school. The publication describes such cloud technologies as Gapminder, DESA,Datawrapper.de, Time.Graphics, HP Reveal, MOZAIK education, Settera Online, Click-that-hood, Canva, Paint Instant. It is also made some theoretical generalization of their economic, technical, technological, didactic advantages and disadvantages. Visual examples of application are provided in the article. The authors make notice that in the long run the technologies under study should become a valuable educational tool of creation virtual information and education environments connected into common national, and then global, educational space.

13. On synchronization in early spectral type binaries

Abstract

A comparison of two different approaches to studying the synchronization time of binary systems on the main sequence is made in the paper. It is found that Zahn’s approach better fits observational data than Tassoul’s one. The results of this analysis will be in demand for estimating of probability that a given system is synchronized, and for selecting and observating of non-synchronized systems. В работе приводится сравнение двух различных подходов к исследованию времени синхронизации двойных систем на главной последовательности на основе наблюдательных данных. Найдено, что теория Зана лучше описывает наблюдательные данные, чем теория Тассуля. Результаты этого анализа будут востребованы для оценки вероятности синхронизации двойных систем, а также для выбора и наблюдения несинхронизированных систем.

Abstract

Despite the increasing urgency of the problem of treating small cell lung cancer (SCLC), information on the causes of its development is fragmentary. There is no complete understanding of the features of antitumor immunity and the role of the microenvironment in the development of SCLC resistance. This impedes the development of new methods for the diagnosis and treatment of SCLC. Lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have common pathogenetic factors. COPD is a risk factor for lung cancer including SCLC. Therefore, the search for effective approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of SCLC in patients with COPD is an urgent task. This review provides information on the etiology and pathogenesis of\ud SCLC, analyses the effectiveness of current treatment options, and critically evaluates the potential of chimeric antigen receptor T cells therapy (CART therapy) in SCLC. Moreover, we discuss potential links between lung cancer and COPD and the role of the endothelium in the development of COPD. Finally, we propose a new approach for increasing the efficacy of CART therapy in SCLC.

28. The didactic potential of virtual information educational environment as a tool of geography students training

Abstract

The article clarifies the concept of “virtual information educational environment” (VIEE) and examines the researchers’ views on its meaning exposed in the scientific literature. The article determines the didactic potential of the virtual information educational environment for the geography students training based on the analysis of the authors’ experience of blended learning by means of the Google Classroom. It also specifies the features (immersion, interactivity, and dynamism, sense of presence, continuity, and causality). The authors highlighted the advantages of virtual information educational environment implementation, such as: increase of the efficiency of the educational process by intensifying the process of cognition and interpersonal interactive communication; continuous access to multimedia content both in Google Classroom and beyond; saving student time due to the absence of necessity to work out the training material “manually”; availability of virtual pages of the virtual class; individualization of the educational process; formation of informational culture of the geography students; and more productive learning of the educational material at the expense of IT educational facilities. Among the disadvantages the article mentions low level of computerization, insignificant quantity and low quality of software products, underestimation of the role of VIЕЕ in the professional training of geography students, and the lack of economic stimuli, etc., У статті роз'яснено поняття «віртуальне інформаційне освітнє середовище» (VIEE) та розглядається погляд дослідників на його значення, викладені в науковій літературі. У статті визначено дидактичний потенціал віртуального інформаційного освітнього середовища для навчання студентів з географії на основі аналізу досвіду авторів змішаного навчання за допомогою Google Classroom. Він також визначає особливості (зануреність, інтерактивність та динамізм, відчуття присутності, наступність та причинність). Автори виділили переваги впровадження віртуального інформаційного освітнього середовища, такі як: підвищення ефективності навчального процесу за рахунок інтенсифікації процесу пізнання та міжособистісного інтерактивного спілкування; постійний доступ до мультимедійного контенту як у Google Classroom, так і за його межами; економія часу студента через відсутність необхідності опрацьовувати навчальний матеріал «вручну»; наявність віртуальних сторінок віртуального класу; індивідуалізація навчального процесу; формування інформаційної культури студентів з географії; і більш продуктивне засвоєння навчального матеріалу за рахунок засобів інформатизації. Серед недоліків у статті згадується низький рівень комп’ютеризації, незначна кількість та низька якість програмних продуктів, недооцінка ролі ВІЕЕ у професійній підготовці студентів з географії, відсутність економічних стимулів тощо.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the topical issue of the cloud technologies implementation in educational process in general and when studying geography, in particular. The authors offer a selection of online services which can contribute to the effective acquisition of geographical knowledge in higher school. The publication describes such cloud technologies as Gapminder, DESA, Datawrapper.de, Time.Graphics, HP Reveal, MOZAIK education, Settera Online, Click-that-hood, Canva, Paint Instant. It is also made some theoretical generalization of their economic, technical, technological, didactic advantages and disadvantages. Visual examples of application are provided in the article. The authors make notice that in the long run the technologies under study should become a valuable educational tool of creation virtual information and education environments connected into common national, and then global, educational space., Стаття присвячена актуальній проблемі впровадження хмарних технологій в навчальний процес в цілому і при вивченні географії, зокрема. Автори пропонують добірку онлайн-сервісів, які можуть сприяти ефективному придбання географічних знань у старшій школі. Abstract

The paper examines the improvement of the energy-efficiency in Russian regions as one of the leading directions of Russia's response to the new global challenges and the implementation of Paris climate agreement (2015) on reducing of greenhouse gases emissions. The research aims at the justification of differentiated strategies and instruments to control energy-efficiency in Russian regions with respect to its key drivers. We focuse on a regional aspect as there are essential reserves and distinctions of regions by energy efficiency level, the need of problem areas' identification, generalization and systematization of positive experience. Based on actual data, we verify the hypothesis that the energy-intensity level of the gross regional product depends on the share of energy-intensive industries, on the region's land area and on climate characteristics. Institutional factors having positive or negative influence have to be regarded as well. We have untilized comparative method, correlation and cluster analyse, conceptions of new public government and control by results, applied to problems of energy-efficiency and climate risks. As a result, we have identified three groups of regions. In one of them, was no statistically significant dependence of the energy intensity from the applicable standard factors proved. The two other groups confirm this dependence, but with significant differences in the level of energy efficiency. Furthermore, the study shows the significance of regional sector structure factor and justifies differentiated strategies to reduce energy consumption by regional and federal regulators and their consideration in the Energy strategy 2035. The measures to improve the energy efficiency in the regions are to be integrated into the long-term strategy of the Russian Federation to reduce greenhouse gases emissions (2050); and the innovation activities and the quality of regional energy-efficiency management are to be considered and analised. Рассмотрены задачи Парижского соглашения, связанные с повышением энергетической, ресурсной и экологической эффективности национальной, секторальной и региональной экономик. Представлен эконометрический анализ факторов, воздействующих на уровень энергоэффективности в российских регионах.

Abstract

The article shows how external and internal macro-economic factors (the reduction of real income of the population, the depreciation of the local currency to the US dollar in 2014 -2015, the promotion of Crimea as a direction for health and resort services for Russian citizens) impact on the financial and economic indicators of health and resort organizations in Russia during 2012-2015. The calculations based on a variety of Federal Service of State Statistics data demonstrate the positive dynamics of the development of regional markets of health and resort services, due to the regional markets of health and resort services of Krasnodar, Stavropol and Altai regions and due to the inclusion of the Federal District of Crimea within the Russian macroeconomic indicators. The econometric model based on a sample of 272 organizations proves the hypothesis about the more beneficial impact of the changes in macroeconomic factors for large health and resort organizations (with a total annual revenue of 400 million roubles) compared with smaller organizations. It is expressed in the growth of sales profitability and annual revenue. The calculations have shown that the organization size as an independent variable in a sample of data related to 2014-2015, increased its positive influence on the dependent variable of annual revenue growth comparing to sampling for 2012-2013. The tough financial constraints in the country trigger the discussion of new opportunities and tools for the development of market conditions, which will stimulate the demand for investment in material and technical base renewal and innovations from the side of large health and resort organizations. In addition to improving the transport accessibility of federal resort regions and measures for promoting and improving the quality of the general health and resort infrastructure, there are discussions to create a favorable competitive environment, improve the public procurement system (including the procurement of state-owned companies), as well as to stimulate the market participants to introduce product, marketing and organizational innovations. Abstract

The sample preparation of gold-bearing ores for the analysis is an important part of the gold fields’ chemical approbation. One of the operations in sample preparation is a control of the size of sample particles. Traditional sieve method to control the particle size is labor intensive and has low rapidity. In addition, the modern equipment for the particle-size analysis is of high cost. In order to implement a cheap, simple and express method to control the particle size of gold-bearing ores in production laboratories this paper presents an algorithm to control the crushing ratio of laboratory samples of gold-bearing ores. Using this new method, it is first necessary to carefully mix a fine sample and to spread it on a smooth surface of the table to form a layer of 5-7 mm thick, and then divide it into approximately equal squares. After this, an operator rubs the sample material with a finger at the control points, immersing the finger in the material until the contact with the polymeric film is made. If at the same time between the film and the finger there will be a sample particle with the size of 0.08-0.1 mm, the operator will have a steady I type tactile sensation (the sensation of the “fine sand”). If at the same time between the film and the finger there will be a sample particle with the size of more than 0.1 mm and less than 0.2 mm, the operator will feel a steady II type tactile sensation (the sensation of the separate grains). This procedure allows controlling the quality of the sample preparation. To control the crushing ratio of gold-bearing ores used in the routine analysis it is enough to use 9 control points. The developed algorithm of the organoleptic method to control the crushing quality was checked on a large group of samples, and its results agreed nicely with the results received using the classical sieve method. Using the organoleptic method, the quickness of control increases and the labor input of control decreases in comparison to the sieve method. Современное оборудование для анализа гранулометрического состава частиц порошков является достаточно дорогим. В работе предложена простая, дешевая и экспрессная органолептическая методика контроля крупности частиц золотосодержащих руд, применимая в производственных лабораториях. Для этого тонкоизмельченную пробу тщательно перемешивают, распределяют на полимерной пленке слоем толщиной 5-7 мм, а слой делят вручную на приблизительно равные квадраты. Оператор погружает палец в материал пробы в каждом квадрате до контакта с полимерной пленкой и растирает пальцем порошок. Если при этом обнаружится частица пробы, имеющая размер 0.08-0.1 мм, то у оператора формируется устойчивое тактильное ощущение I типа: присутствие «мелкого песка». При наличии в пробе частиц размером более 0.1 мм и менее 0.2 мм у оператора, выполняющего контроль степени измельчения проб, формируется устойчивое тактильное ощущение II типа: присутствие в пробе отдельных крупинок. Эта градация позволяет контролировать качество подготовки проб. Показано, что для органолептической оценки степени измельчения проб золотосодержащих руд в рутинном пробирном анализе достаточно использовать 9 контрольных точек. Разработанный авторами алгоритм проверен на большой группе проб, показано его хорошее совпадение с результатами контроля, полученными с применением классического ситового анализа. При использовании органолептической методики повышается экспрессность и снижается трудоемкость контроля по сравнению с ситовым методом анализа.

Abstract

The Education of people of the “third age” is based on the fact that their ability of self-development and understanding of the surrounding world is reduced to the application of previously acquired knowledge in a certain period of time. At the same time, it is believed that a decrease in cognitive abilities and an increase in inaccuracies in motor skills leads to the fact that it is almost impossible to master new knowledge. Determining the extent to which this statement corresponds to psychological and educational attitudes shapes the relevance of the study. The novelty of the research is determined by the fact that, for the first time, it is proposed to approach the topic of education for people of “third age” not only as a problem, which is determined solely for increasing the employment of the population and raising the retirement age, but the authors also offer to consider the topic of the research as a factor in improving the standard of living and social adaptability of "third age" citizens. Models of university and distance education are considered in the article. The practical significance of the research is determined by the need to develop the issue outlined in the face of crisis and the desire of public administration to identify priorities for the formation of a qualitatively new social model. Abstract

The paper is devoted to the relevant issue of assessing the level of financial risk of agricultural enterprises. The authors present the results of the study of time series of production volumes and average market prices for livestock products in Russia. The result of the study of time series was a statistical assessment of the probabilistic characteristics of these data, the development of economic and mathematical models of their dynamics. The obtained results were used while forecasting the market movement and the volume of production of livestock products, which in turn became the basis for prognosis evaluation of the level of financial risk of agribusinesses. The authors have simulated a quantitative liquidity risk assessment for agricultural enterprises producing livestock products. The obtained results can be used by producers in the system of planning the activity of agricultural organizations. At the same time, planning the indicators of production and sales of livestock products on the basis of a predictive assessment of the level of financial risk will allow producers to develop in advance effective measures to reduce the possible level of losses and improve production efficiency. Abstract

Представлены результаты исследования наиболее важных аспектов изучения карьеры и смежных с ней понятий. С этой целью был проведен контент-анализ определений, представленных в диссертациях, словарях, русскоязычной и зарубежной научной литературе. В результате была показана многомерность этого явления. Большинство определений указывают на процессуальный характер карьеры, протекающий, прежде всего, в профессиональном и социальном плане. Меньшее внимание в определениях уделено личностному контексту и развитию карьеры в рамках одной организации. К основным свойствам были отнесены индивидуальность, субъектность и активность. Среди функций карьеры выделяются достижение успеха, накопление профессионального опыта, профессиональное самоопределение и профессиональное самовыражение. Перспективным направлением исследования карьеры является изучение стадий процесса, а также задач этих стадий, что позволяет более детально изучить карьеру и в личностном контексте в силу связанности стадий с процессом развития самого человека. The results of the research, the purpose of which was the indication of the most important aspects of career studies, are presented. Attention paid to the separation of careers related concepts. To do this, we used a content analysis of the definitions presented in the thesis, dictionaries and scientific literature. The result was marked by the multidimensionality of the phenomenon. Most definitions indicate the procedural nature of career, that is presented mostly in social and professional cases. The most significant functions are: success achievement, accumulation of professional experience, professional selfdetermination and professional self-expression. As a result, the scope of related concepts was defined, and the most general tendencies of studying of this phenomenon were highlighted and future development of the research were marked. A promising area of research is the study of the stages. This will allow a more detailed study of personal context. Abstract

Проведено эмпирическое исследование ценностей и смысло-жизненных ориентации студентов первого и последних курсов университета. Выявлены специфические особенности ценностно-смысловой сферы студентов-психологов выпускных курсов. Большее значение для них имеют такие ценности, как «широта взглядов» и «чуткость». Изучение смысло-жизненных ориентации показало, что студенты-психологи выпускных курсов больше других убеждены в том, что жизнь человека подвластна сознательному контролю. The paper presents practical research of values and life-meaning orientations on last year in relation to first year students. Specific features of value sphere of final-year psychology students was discovered. The most important values for them are «broad-minded» and «sensitive». Abstract

Two modes of phloem loading have been proposed, apoplastic and symplastic, depending on the structure of sieve element-companion cell complexes (SE-CCCs) in minor vein phloem. Species are usually classified as either apoplastic or symplastic loaders although the cytology of SE-CCCs in minor veins of the majority of plants indicates that both mechanisms can be simultaneously involved in phloem loading. The functions of structurally different SE-CCCs in minor veins of the stachyose-translocating plant Alonsoa meridionalis were examined. A stachyose synthase gene, AmSTS1, was expressed in intermediary cells but not in the ordinary companion cell of the same vein. In contrast, sucrose transporter AmSUT1 protein was present in ordinary companion cells but not in the neighbouring intermediary cells. These data reveal the principles of phloem sap formation in A. meridionalis and, probably, in many other dicots. The two types of SE-CCCs within one and the same minor vein load different carbohydrates, using contrasting mechanisms for their delivery into the phloem. Lateral sieve pores in the minor vein phloem lead to mixing of the carbohydrates soon after loading. While symplastic and apoplastic pathways can function simultaneously during phloem loading, they are separated at the level of different SE-CCCs combined in phloem endings.
