Background: Integrating spiritual aspects into treatment plans can release essential resources for coping with chronic pain. However, some spiritual aspects may also induce distress and hinder the coping process. There is a lack of evidence regarding how to perform the clinical tasks of exploring spiritual aspects and of instruments assessing related competencies. Therefore, we developed a web-based learning module to provide education on the subject alongside corresponding assessment instruments. The module presents the InSpiRe (Integration of Spirituality and/or Religion in patient encounters) protocol. The instruments encompass cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. Methods: This paper aims to determine (i) the learning effects associated with completing the web-based spiritual-care learning module and (ii) the reliability and validity of the instruments employed. To address these aims, we conducted a pre-test/post-test trial with N = 32 randomly selected fourth-year medical students. During the pre-test, we assessed the students' knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy regarding exploring spiritual aspects. For this purpose, we developed a short-answer knowledge test, an attitude questionnaire, and a self-efficacy scale. Additionally, the students explored spiritual aspects with a simulated patient portraying a person with chronic pain. Three trained raters evaluated the students' performances using a self-developed scale. In the intervention phase, the students completed the 45-minute learning module on a personal computer. The module presented InSpiRe-related content as text and step-by-step video demonstrations, including hints that denote critical actions. The subsequent post-test was identical to the pre-test. Results: The internal consistency was suitable for all respective instruments, and there was an indication of solid validity of the performance test. After completing the spiritual care learning module, the students showed statistically significant increases in knowledge scores and significant positive shifts in their attitudes and levels of self-efficacy regarding exploring spiritual aspects. They also attained significantly higher performance scores in the same regard. Conclusions: Completing the spiritual-care module is associated with meaningful learning effects on cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions related to exploring spiritual aspects, as demonstrated in the post-test conducted shortly after the intervention. Abstract Background To date, no suitable model tooth has been available for all standard restorative and prosthodontic procedures. To fill this gap, a realistic multilayer tooth with enamel, dentin, integrated caries, pulp, and electrometric and X-ray imaging abilities was developed. The aim of this study was to test the printed tooth while focusing on caries excavation and pulp capping. Methods Based on micro-CT data, a tooth was designed and produced via 3D printing. A total of 396 teeth were tested and evaluated by 66 fourth- and fifth-year students experienced in caries excavation at standard typodonts, extracted teeth and patients. They excavated the caries and capped the pulp on six teeth and rated them in a questionnaire. OBJECTIVE: To examine the efficacy of a brief, online intervention designed to enhance genetic counseling students patient-centered communication. METHODS: Genetic counseling students and recent graduates were randomized to two groups following a baseline standardized patient (SP) session: (1) immediate intervention exposure, which consisted of five modules that taught patient-centered communication skills followed by a second SP session, or (2) delayed intervention exposure following completion of the second session. Sessions were coded using the Roter Interaction Analysis System. Short-term efficacy was assessed by comparing communication during the second session between the delayed and immediate intervention exposure groups. Longer-term efficacy was assessed by comparing communication during a third session approximately five weeks later. RESULTS: During the second session, students in the immediate intervention exposure group (n = 18) used more emotionally responsive statements and were more likely to use teach-back than those in the delayed intervention exposure group (n = 23). Students emotionally responsive statements decreased among the immediate intervention exposure group during the third session. CONCLUSION: Exposure to the intervention was associated with multiple, positive changes to students patient-centered communication behavior. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: These time- and resource-efficient modules may be beneficial as an introduction to communication skills training or a supplement to existing training.

Abstract Background Clinical acumen represents only part of being adequately equipped to attend a major incident. The emotive sights, sounds and smells of these dynamic environments are all-encompassing experiences, and responders must also be armed with the emotional preparedness to perform their clinical or managerial duties effectively, as well as the mental resilience to facilitate professional continuance. Despite this, limited training and a sparsity of evidence exists to guide developments within this domain. Historically, major incident training has focused on clinical theory acquisition, but irrespective of how comprehensive the learning materials, they are of little consequence if tandem steps to cultivate mental resilience and emotional preparedness are absent. High-Fidelity Simulation (HFS) has a growing reputation as an effective means of bridging important gaps between theory and practice. This pilot study aimed to measure student’s self-reported perception of their readiness to respond to a major incident following a large-scale HFS. Methods Quantitative data was obtained from a sample of 108 students undertaking paramedic science, physician associate studies and adult nursing degree programmes. A bespoke questionnaire was developed to measure self-reported clinical acumen, mental and emotional preparedness. Results 91% of students agreed the combination of theoretical training and HFS provided made them feel clinically prepared to attend a real major incident; 86% agreed this experience had developed their mental resilience and 90% agreed that they felt emotionally prepared to attend a major incident. Conclusion Within this pilot study, the blend of theoretical training and HFS contributed to self-reported clinical acumen, mental and emotional preparation, in learners training to work in disaster environments or emergency medicine settings.

Introduction: Simulation-based education (SBE) is an instructional approach that aims to accurately recreate real-life scenarios and engage learners in the practical application of lesson content. By replicating critical elements of clinical situations, SBE facilitates a deeper understanding and better preparation for managing such conditions in actual clinical practice. SBE offers promising prospects for improving medical education and patient care in various settings,such as outpatient clinics. Therefore, this scoping review aims to determine to what extent the most effective components and standards of the simulation have been considered in outpatient education.Methods: The present scoping review adheres to the guidelines outlined in the “Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMAScR) checklist” and the “Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Reviewers’ Manual”. This review focused on articles that specifically focused on the use of simulation in outpatient education. Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and ERIC were searched for keywords related to simulation, ambulatory care, outpatient clinics, and medical education from January 1, 2001, to August 12, 2023.Results: The search indicated 513 articles, which were narrowed down by title and abstract relatedness. Twenty-nine articles entered the study’s second phase, and after reviewing their full text, nine articles that explicitly reported simulation use in outpatient education remained. Based on the findings of eligible articles, the ten most frequent components of SBE that should be considered and followed discussed. These features were training facilitators, pre-briefing sessions, the type of simulation techniques, the site of simulation participation, the simulation duration, unit of participation, extent of direct participation, Simulation fidelity, feedback, and debriefing and reflection.Conclusion: SBE is a contemporary method of practical training for medical students that involves realistic modeling or simulation of clinical situations. It enhances learning effectiveness andprovides a safe, educational atmosphere for teaching and learning. Designing simulations adhering to established standards and carefully considering essential components improves efficiencyand effectiveness.

Three-dimensional soft tissue simulation has become a popular tool in the process of virtual orthognathic surgery planning and patient–surgeon communication. To apply 3D soft tissue simulation software in routine clinical practice, both qualitative and quantitative validation of its accuracy are required. The objective of this study was to systematically review the literature on the accuracy of 3D soft tissue simulation in orthognathic surgery. The Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases were consulted for the literature search. The systematic review (SR) was conducted according to the PRISMA statement, and 40 articles fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Quadas-2 tool was used for the risk of bias assessment for selected studies. A mean error varying from 0.27 mm to 2.9 mm for 3D soft tissue simulations for the whole face was reported. In the studies evaluating 3D soft tissue simulation accuracy after a Le Fort I osteotomy only, the upper lip and paranasal regions were reported to have the largest error, while after an isolated bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, the largest error was reported for the lower lip and chin regions. In the studies evaluating simulation after bimaxillary osteotomy with or without genioplasty, the highest inaccuracy was reported at the level of the lips, predominantly the lower lip, chin, and, sometimes, the paranasal regions. Due to the variability in the study designs and analysis methods, a direct comparison was not possible. Therefore, based on the results of this SR, guidelines to systematize the workflow for evaluating the accuracy of 3D soft tissue simulations in orthognathic surgery in future studies are proposed. ABSTRACT Objective Simulation plays an important role in cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. Comparing postsimulation debriefing with rapid cycle deliberate practice could help determine the best simulation strategy for pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation training among pediatric residents. Methods This is a single-blind, prospective, randomized controlled study. First- and second year pediatric residents were enrolled and randomized into two groups (1:1 ratio): rapid cycle deliberate practice group (intervention) or postsimulation debriefing group (control). They participated in two rounds of simulated pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest to assess the simulated pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation performance gain (round 1) and retention after a 5-6 week washout period (round 2). Scenarios were video-recorded and analyzed by blinded evaluators. The main outcome was the time to initiation of chest compressions. Secondary outcomes included time to recognize a cardiopulmonary arrest, time to recognize a shockable rhythm, time to defibrillation, time to initiation of chest compressions after defibrillation, and chest compression fraction. Results Sixteen groups participated in the first round and fifteen groups in the second one. Time to intiation of chest compressions decreased from preintervention scenario to the round 1 testing scenario and increased from round 1 to round 2 testing scenario. However, no interaction effects nor group effects were observed (p=0.885 and p=0.329, respectively). There were no significant differences between the two groups regarding the secondary outcomes. Conclusion Despite an overall improvement in simulated pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation performance, we did not observe significant differences between the two groups regarding the analyzed variables. The decline in simulated pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation performance after 5 weeks suggests the need for shorter time intervals between training sessions.

Background: Most serious adverse events in health care are related to non-technical skills failures. Anesthesiology profession, due to its vital, risky and decisive nature, is more focused on technical, physiological and medicinal aspects compared with other professions, and anesthesia experts and researchers have not paid serious attention to non-technical aspects of their work.Objectives: This study examined the effect of simulation-based interprofessional education (SBIPE) in small groups on non-technical skills of anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists.Methods: This single-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted during April and May 2023 on anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the operating room of Imam Khomeini Hospital, Ahvaz, Iran. Participants included 64 anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists who were randomly assigned into an intervention group (n=32) and a control group (n=32). The intervention group was divided into small groups to receive three hours of SBIPE. The Anesthetists' Non-Technical Skills (ANTS) scale which encompasses four components of task management, team working, situation awareness, and decision-making was used to collect data. To analyze the data, independent and paired t-tests were used.Results: In the intervention group, the mean scores of task management, team working, situation awareness and decision-making were 9.32±2.29, 7.96±2.05, 7.84±1.91 and 6.00±1.61 at baseline and increased to 12.36±2.18, 12.28±2.31, 12.28±2.19 and 10.04±1.62, respectively (P

Rare studies have tried to improve clinical judgment ability by applying virtual simulation and face-to-face simulation together. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an integrated non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation program on enhancing nursing students’ clinical judgment ability and understanding of nursing students’ experiences of the combined simulation. Methods A sequential exploratory mixed-methods study was conducted in a nursing simulation center of a university in Central China. Third-year nursing students (n = 122) taking clinical training in ICUs were subsequentially assigned to the integrated non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation program arm (n = 61) or the face-to-face simulation-only arm (n = 61) according to the order in which they entered in ICU training. Clinical judgment ability was measured by the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric (LCJR). Focus group interviews were conducted to gather qualitative data. Results Students in both arms demonstrated significant improvement in clinical judgment ability scores after simulation, and students in the integrated arm reported more improvement than students in the face-to-face simulation-only arm. The qualitative quotes provided a context for the quantitative improvement measured by the LJCR in the integrated arm. Most of the quantitative findings were confirmed by qualitative findings, including the domains and items in the LJCR. The findings verified and favored the effect of the combination of non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation integrated program on enhancing nursing students’ clinical judgment ability. Conclusions The integrated virtual simulation and face-to-face simulation program was feasible and enhanced nursing students’ self-reported clinical judgment ability. This integrated non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation program may benefit nursing students and newly graduated nurses in the ICU more than face-to-face simulation only.

Identify the effectiveness and gaps of mobile simulation as an educational strategy for improving health professionals. Scoping review carried out in eight databases and gray literature. The articles were selected without time frame and languages. They were extracted and summarized by two independent researchers at Mendley. PRISMA-ScR was used, guided by the question: How can mobile simulation effectively contribute to the improvement of health professionals? What are the gaps in the literature? Seven articles were selected, with a prevalence of studies in Canada and carried out in 2021, with level evidence IV. Mobile simulation contributed significantly improvement, developing effective clinical competences with less costs and better time management. However, requires trained and available instructors, in addition to investment to adapt the mobile simulation unit. Mobile simulation has better cost-benefit and less financial impact when compared to in-person simulation, highlighting the importance of the strategy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Simulation-based teaching is a technique for imitating a situation's behavior or process via a suitable analog situation for training or teaching purposes. Simulation-based teaching is widely used in various domains; however, there is limited literature on evaluating the role of simulated-based teaching in physiotherapy. This study investigates the effect of simulation-based teaching on learning domains for traumatic brain injury topics framed for final-year physiotherapy students. Materials and Methods: A total of 51 final-year physiotherapy students were randomly selected and allocated into two groups. Group A (n=25) includes didactic with PowerPoint presentation teaching session. Group B (n=26) includes simulated-based teaching sessions. There were eight simulators selected and trained for the Ranchos Los Amigos stages. The students were assessed using a self-designed pre-post multiple-choice questions (MCQ) test for knowledge and a clinical evaluation exercise for affective and psychomotor skills. Results: This study showed that group B significantly improved in the pre-post self-made MCQ test (t=17.34, P=0.00), and in the clinical evaluation exercise, group B performed 43.66% better than group A. Conclusion: The study concludes that simulation-based teaching significantly improves cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills compared to traditional methods for traumatic brain injury topics framed for final-year physiotherapy students. OBJECTIVES: To explore the experiences of Indigenous patient actors who co-created and enacted Indigenous patient scenarios in collaboration with medical school faculty. We critically examine the structures and systems in a medical school that mediate cultural safety for Indigenous patient actors. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada has called on medical schools and healthcare institutions to help address the intergenerational harms inflicted on Indigenous people by the Indian residential school (IRS) system. Institutions are striving to incorporate cultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism education into their curricula. However, the structural inequities within undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education practices must be identified and challenged to ensure that medical education is authentic and culturally safe for those involved in the development and delivery of the Indigenous health curriculum. To explore potential structural inequities in the co-creation process of simulated cultural communication scenarios (SCCS), the Indigenous animators at Debajehmujig Storytellers and collaborating faculty and professional staff at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM U) examined cultural safety in their curriculum design and delivery process. METHODS: We utilized the qualitative Indigenous research methodology of the Learning Circle to deconstruct the co-creation process and to explore the experience of cultural safety from the Indigenous animators' perspective throughout the curriculum design and delivery process. RESULTS: A framework for culturally safe co-creation practices with Indigenous people, rooted within Indigenous teachings of the Medicine Wheel, emerged from the qualitative data. CONCLUSIONS: This framework has the potential to guide the practice of culturally safe co-creation of Indigenous patient simulations in medical education and healthcare workplace learning. While the Medicine Wheel teachings are held by specific Indigenous nations, we anticipate that the results and recommendations of this study will apply to Indigenous co-creators and academic medical educators internationally. Resumen: Introducción: la redacción de historias clínicas (HC) es una competencia básica en la formación del médico. Es el fundamento para construir hipótesis diagnósticas y garantizar una atención adecuada, segura y efectiva. Además, la HC tiene implicaciones legales, epidemiológicas y de calidad asistencial. Con este estudio pretendimos conocer la concordancia entre la información recogida del paciente en la consulta y la registrada en la HC por alumnos de Medicina. Métodos: estudio observacional descriptivo transversal sobre una consulta con pacientes simulados y la HC redactada posteriormente. Participaron 112 alumnos de 5.° año de Medicina. Los evaluadores comprobaron en las HC 59 ítems de anamnesis, anamnesis por órganos y aparatos, exploración física y juicio clínico, contrastándolos con las videograbaciones de las consultas y clasificando la concordancia entre ambas. Resultados: la población final fueron 109 alumnos (97,3%). El área competencial con mayor concordancia fue juicio clínico (94,1%). Todos los ítems superaron el 65% de concordancia. Más del 20% de los alumnos no habían registrado en sus HC algunos ítems, aunque los habían recogido en la consulta. Anamnesis por órganos y aparatos fue el área competencial con más ítems omitidos o incorrectos. El único ítem que ningún alumno olvidó recoger y registrar fue «antecedentes personales de dislipidemia». Exploración física fue el área donde más alumnos registraron hallazgos en la HC sin haberlos realizado en la entrevista. Conclusión: el estudio demuestra la alta concordancia de la HC con la información recogida en la consulta y descubre aspectos que nos permitirán mejorar la formación en semiología médica de los alumnos. Abstract: Introduction: Writing medical histories (MH) is a basic competence in the physician's training. It is the cornerstone for constructing diagnostic hypotheses and guaranteeing adequate, safe and effective care. In addition, MH has legal, epidemiological and quality of care implications. The aim of this study was to determine the concordance between the information collected from the patient in the consultation room and that recorded in the MH by medical students. Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive observational study on a consultation with simulated patients and the subsequently written MH. A total of 112 5th-year medical students participated. The evaluators checked 59 items of anamnesis, anamnesis by organs and apparatus, physical examination and clinical judgment in the MH, contrasting them with the video recordings of the consultations, and classifying the concordance between both. Results: Final population was 109 students (97.3%). The competency area with the highest concordance was clinical judgment (94.1%). All items exceeded 65% agreement. More than 20% of the students had not recorded some items in their MH, although they had collected them in the consultation. Anamnesis by organs and apparatus was the competency area with the most omitted or incorrect items. The only item that no student forgot to collect and record was “personal history of dyslipidemia”. Physical examination was the area where most students recorded findings in the MH without having made them in the interview. Conclusion: The study demonstrates high concordance in the MH with the information collected in the consultation and shows aspects that will allow us to improve the medical semiology training of students.

Este documento presenta una propuesta educativa para el abordaje de «toxíndromes mayores» a través de un esquema que integra su identificación y tratamiento mediante escenarios de simulación clínica con empleo de pacientes simulados/estandarizados para el pregrado médico en el Centro Universitario del Sur de la Universidad de Guadalajara, desarrollado durante el año 2023. Abstract: Toxicological training has disparities in relation to other areas of medical knowledge, which favors cognitive gaps in health professionals. Abstract Background Patient simulation has been used in medical education to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for learners to practice clinical and interpersonal skills. However, simulation involving pediatric populations, particularly in child and adolescent psychiatry, is rare and generally does not reflect the child-caregiver dyad or the longitudinal aspects of this care, nor does it provide learners with an opportunity to engage with and reflect on these dynamics. Methods We organized as an educational opportunity a series of seven observed patient simulation sessions with a cohort of a dozen child and adolescent psychiatrists (eight fellows approaching graduation and four senior educators). In these sessions, we utilized the co-constructive patient simulation model to create the simulation cases. We included the use of at least two patient actors in most sessions, and two of the case narratives were longitudinally followed across multiple simulation sessions. We approached the data collected during the simulations and their respective debriefings by using thematic analysis informed by a symbolic interactionist approach. Results Based on data from the debriefing sessions and longitudinal narratives, we identified four overarching themes: (1) Reflecting on dyadic challenges: role reversal and individuation; (2) Centering the child, allying with the parent, and treating the family system; (3) Ambivalence in and about the parent-child dyad; and (4) Longitudinal narratives and ambivalence over time. Conclusion The emotional experience of the simulations, for interviewers and observers alike, provided an opportunity to reflect on personal and professional experiences and triggered meaningful insights and connections between participants. These simulated cases called for emotional labor, particularly in the form of creating holding environments; in this way, the simulated encounters and the debriefing sessions became dialogic experiences, in which the patient and provider, parent and child, and learner and instructor could co-construct meaning and foster professional development as reflective practitioners.

Despite medical physics becoming a more patient-facing part of the radiation oncology team, medical physics graduate students have no training in patient communication. An introductory patient communication training for medical physics graduate students is presented here. This training exposes participants to foundational concepts and effective communication skills through a lecture and it allows them to apply these concepts through realistic simulated patient interactions. The training was conducted virtually, and eight students participated. The impact of the training was evaluated based on changes in both confidence and competence of the participants patient communication skills. Participants were asked to fill out a survey to assess their confidence on communicating with patients before and after the training. They also underwent a simulated patient interaction pre- and postlecture. Their performance during these was evaluated by both the simulated patient actors and the participants themselves using a rubric. Each data set was paired and analyzed for significance using a Wilcoxon rank-sum test with an alpha of 0.05. Participants reported significantly higher confidence in their feeling of preparedness to interact with patients (mean = 2.38 vs. 3.88, p = 0.008), comfort interacting independently (mean = 2.00 vs. 4.00, p = 0.002), comfort showing patients they are actively listening (mean = 3.50 vs. 4.50, p = 0.005), and confidence handling challenging patient interactions (mean = 1.88 vs. 3.38, p = 0.01), after the training. Their encounter scores, as evaluated by the simulated patient actors, significantly increased (mean = 77% vs. 91%, p = 0.022). Self-evaluation scores increased, but not significantly (mean = 62% vs. 68%, p = 0.184). The difference between the simulated patient and self-evaluation scores for the postinstruction encounter was statistically significant (p = 0.0014). This patient communication training for medical physics graduate students is effective at increasing both the confidence and the competence of the participants in the subject. We propose that similar trainings be incorporated into medical physics graduate training programs prior to students entering into residency.

ObjectivesAdverse events that affect patient safety are a significant concern in pediatrics. Increasing situational awareness, identifying errors and near misses, and reporting them using organizational incident reporting systems enables mitigation of harm.MethodsWe designed and tested a brief, interactive, and easily replicable simulation activity for medical students, and emergency medicine interns and pediatric interns to strengthen their skills and enhance their self-efficacy in identifying and reporting patient safety hazards. Hazards fell into the categories of situational safety, patient identification and privacy, infection prevention, treatment errors, and issues with electronic health records (EHRs).ResultsThe simulation training significantly increased the self-efficacy of medical students and interns in identifying and reporting patient safety hazards. Learners were very satisfied with the simulation training, successfully recognized key patient safety hazards, provided feedback to improve the training, and improved their ability to report hazards through organizational incident reporting systems. Patient safety hazards associated with patient misidentification were recognized most frequently, whereas safety hazards associated with EHRs were missed with the greatest frequency.ConclusionsThe simulation training enabled learners to identify hazards and near misses and enhanced their ability to report hazards through organizational incident reporting systems. Learners at all levels of training identified safety hazards at comparable rates, which demonstrates the role that trainees play in critically observing clinical settings with fresh eyes and identifying and reporting patient safety hazards. Interventions to promote patient safety need to prioritize building situational awareness of potential hazards associated with EHR use.

Abstract Aims The objectives were to evaluate the effectiveness of a standardised patient simulation programme and to analyse to what extent the students transferred the skills covered in the simulation to clinical practice 6 months after the intervention. Design A quasi‐experimental study was carried out, with measurements taken pre‐, post‐ and 6 months after the implementation of a standardised patient simulation programme in a single group. Methods Eligible to participate were all final year nursing undergraduates during the 2020–2021 academic year. In total, 41 undergraduate nursing students took part in all stages of the study. It was measured attitude towards communication, self‐efficacy, communication skills and resilience. The degree to which communication skills were used in the real setting was also assessed. Results The students' scores for self‐efficacy and perceived communication skills improved and were maintained after six months. Regarding to resilience, improvement was even evident six months following the intervention. In terms of the transfer to clinical practice, the students were making moderate to high use of the communication skills learned in the simulation.

Background Since the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, virtual simulation has emerged as an alternative to traditional teaching methods as it can be employed within the recently established contact-minimizing guidelines. This prospective education study aimed to develop a virtual reality simulator for a lumbar transforaminal epidural block (LTFEB) and demonstrate its efficacy. Methods We developed a virtual reality simulator using patient image data processing, virtual X-ray generation, spatial registration, and virtual reality technology. For a realistic virtual environment, a procedure room, surgical table, C-arm, and monitor were created. Using the virtual C-arm, the X-ray images of the patient’s anatomy, the needle, and indicator were obtained in real-time. After the simulation, the trainees could receive feedback by adjusting the visibility of structures such as skin and bones. The training of LTFEB using the simulator was evaluated using 20 inexperienced trainees. The trainees’ procedural time, rating score, number of C-arm taken, and overall satisfaction were recorded as primary outcomes. Results The group using the simulator showed a higher global rating score (P = 0.014), reduced procedural time (P = 0.025), reduced number of C-arm uses (P = 0.001), and higher overall satisfaction score (P = 0.007). Conclusions We created an accessible and effective virtual reality simulator that can be used to teach inexperienced trainees LTFEB without radiation exposure. The results of this study indicate that the proposed simulator will prove to be a useful aid for teaching LTFEB.

Introduction: Simulation-based teaching is a technique for imitating a situation’s behavior or process via a suitable analog situation for training or teaching purposes. Simulation-based teaching is widely used in various domains; however, there is limited literature on evaluating the role of simulated-based teaching in physiotherapy. This study investigates the effect of simulation-based teaching on learning domains for traumatic brain injury topics framed for final-year physiotherapy students. Materials and Methods: A total of 51 final-year physiotherapy students were randomly selected and allocated into two groups. Group A (n=25) includes didactic with PowerPoint presentation teaching session. Group B (n=26) includes simulated-based teaching sessions. There were eight simulators selected and trained for the Ranchos Los Amigos stages. The students were assessed using a self-designed pre-post multiple-choice questions (MCQ) test for knowledge and a clinical evaluation exercise for affective and psychomotor skills. Results: This study showed that group B significantly improved in the pre-post self-made MCQ test (t=17.34, P=0.00), and in the clinical evaluation exercise, group B performed 43.66% better than group A. Conclusion: The study concludes that simulation-based teaching significantly improves cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills compared to traditional methods for traumatic brain injury topics framed for final-year physiotherapy students.

Objective: To examine whether a 2-week or 4-week virtual patient simulation program can improve clinical competence for undergraduate emergency medicine education during COVID-19. Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted between October and December 2021. Final-year medical students were randomized into a 2-week short exposure group and a 4-week long exposure group on a 1:1 allocation. They were assessed using a virtual case with structured scoring system before and after the virtual patient simulation learning program. An end-of-program questionnaire on learners' perceptions was also administered. Results: A total of 138 students were recruited. After the virtual patient simulation program, the virtual case score increment in the long exposure group was significantly higher than in the short exposure group with a mean score difference of 18/100 (95% confidence interval = 9.8 to 26.3). Questionnaire showed generally positive perceptions toward the use of virtual patient simulation program for emergency medicine teaching. Conclusion: Virtual reality learning of 2 and 4 weeks' duration may be beneficial for improving emergency medicine clinical competence for final-year medical students, especially during periods of limited clinical exposure like the COVID-19 pandemic. Background: Quality of care and patient safety rely on the ability of interprofessional teams to collaborate effectively. This can be trained through interprofessional simulation-based education (IPSE). Patient safety also relies on the ability to adapt to the complexity of such situations, an ability termed resilience. Since these needs are not explicitly addressed in IPSE, the aim of this study was to explore how central concepts from complexity-theory and resilience affect IPSE, from facilitators' perspective, when applied in debriefings. Methods: A set of central concepts in complexity-theory and resilience were introduced to facilitators on an IPSE course for nursing and medical students. In five iterations of focus groups interviews the facilitators discussed their application of these concepts by reviewing video recordings of their own debriefings. Video recordings of the interviews were subjected to coding and thematic analysis. Results: Three themes were identified. The first, Concepts of complexity and resilience are relevant for IPSE, points to the applicability of these concepts and to the fact that students often need to deviate from prescribed guidelines/algorithms in order to solve cases. The second theme, Exploring complexity, shows how uncertainty could be used as a cue to explore complexity. Further, that individual performance needs to account for the context of actions and how this may lead to certain outcomes. Moreover, it was suggested that several ways to approach a challenge can contribute to important insight in the conditions for teamwork. The third theme, Unpacking how solutions are achieved, turns to needs for handling the aforementioned complexity. It illustrates the importance of addressing self-criticism by highlighting how students were often able to overcome challenges and find solutions. Finally, this theme highlights how pre-defined guidelines and algorithms still work as important resources to help students in transforming perceived messiness into clarity. Conclusions: This study suggests that IPSE provides the possibility to explore complexity and highlight resilience so that such capability can be trained and improved. Further studies are needed to develop more concrete ways of using IPSE to account for complexity and developing resilience capacity and to evaluate to what extent IPSE can provide such an effect. Abstract Background In response to the growing demand for community nursing, practical and dynamic changes in educational methods are essential to nurturing competent nurses. The aim of this study was to explore the learning experiences of nursing students’ simulation-based community visits and understand these experiences in detail. Methods This study followed Colizzi’s phenomenological research method. Nineteen participants were divided into three teams and participated in focus group interviews. The research question was: “How was your experience with the simulated nursing home visit?” Results Four essential themes were identified: “burden of community nursing simulation-based learning,” “solving the problems faced by patients with dementia through teamwork,” “home-visiting nursing skills learned through physical practice,” and “community nursing competency growth.” Conclusion The study results provide a basis for developing a community nursing curriculum with effective evaluation and management of community nursing home-visit education using simulation.

Three-dimensional soft tissue simulation has become a popular tool in the process of virtual orthognathic surgery planning and patient–surgeon communication. To apply 3D soft tissue simulation software in routine clinical practice, both qualitative and quantitative validation of its accuracy are required. The objective of this study was to systematically review the literature on the accuracy of 3D soft tissue simulation in orthognathic surgery. The Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases were consulted for the literature search. The systematic review (SR) was conducted according to the PRISMA statement, and 40 articles fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Quadas-2 tool was used for the risk of bias assessment for selected studies. A mean error varying from 0.27 mm to 2.9 mm for 3D soft tissue simulations for the whole face was reported. In the studies evaluating 3D soft tissue simulation accuracy after a Le Fort I osteotomy only, the upper lip and paranasal regions were reported to have the largest error, while after an isolated bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, the largest error was reported for the lower lip and chin regions. In the studies evaluating simulation after bimaxillary osteotomy with or without genioplasty, the highest inaccuracy was reported at the level of the lips, predominantly the lower lip, chin, and, sometimes, the paranasal regions. Due to the variability in the study designs and analysis methods, a direct comparison was not possible. Therefore, based on the results of this SR, guidelines to systematize the workflow for evaluating the accuracy of 3D soft tissue simulations in orthognathic surgery in future studies are proposed.

Introduction: Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus variant in the Arabian Peninsula. There is a lack of information regarding awareness and practices of community pharmacists in Qatar for this contagious disease. Aim: To determine the quality of the MERS-related information, recommendations, and counseling practices provided by Qatar's community pharmacists by using Simulated Client Method (SCM). Materials and Methods: An observational cross-sectional study using a non traditional SCM was conducted in community pharmacies of Qatar from February 2017 to April 2017. A total of 30 community pharmacies were visited twice by two independent simulated clients and data regarding, provision of evidence-based information, recommendations and counseling practices were collected to assess the competency of pharmacists in managing MERS as a primary care problem. Both descriptive and inferential statistical methods were used for data analysis. Results: In present study, majority of pharmacists encountered were male and younger than 45-year-old with 44 (73.3%) each. The average number of pharmacists who did not ask about the patient's current medical conditions 56 (93.3), medications 58 (97.5%), allergies, and smoking status in both scenarios were not asked by any of the pharmacist. Most of the pharmacists gave an incorrect explanation of MERS 43 (71.7%). The overall quality counselling score for the pharmacists (mean±SD; median (IQR)) was {27.5±4.5; 28.5 (25.3-30.0)}. Quality counselling was significantly related to the type of pharmacy (p=0.0478). Conclusion: Qatar community pharmacist's MERS related information, recommendations, and counseling practices were below expectations and inconsistent, thus urging the need for continuous professional development. Computer-based simulation (CBS) is an interactive pedagogical training method that has seen increased interest, especially in recent years. There is some evidence that CBS in pharmacy education is not as widely adopted compared to other healthcare disciplines. Pharmacy education literature to date has not specifically discussed the potential barriers which may cause this uptake challenge. In this systematic narrative review, we attempted to explore and discuss potential barriers that may impact the integration of CBS in pharmacy practice education and provide our suggestions to overcome them. We searched five major databases and used the AACODS checklist for grey literature assessment. We identified 42 studies and four grey literature reports, published between 1 January 2000 and 31 August 2022, which met the inclusion criteria. Then, the specific approach of Braun and Clarke for thematic analysis was followed. The majority of the included articles were from Europe, North America, and Australasia. Although none of the included articles had a specific focus on barriers to implementation, thematic analysis was used to extract and discuss several potential barriers, such as resistance to change, cost, time, usability of software, meeting accreditation standards, motivating and engaging students, faculty experience, and curriculum constraints. Ad- dressing academic, process, and cultural barriers can be considered the first step in providing guidance for future implementation research for CBS in pharmacy education. The analysis suggests that to effectively overcome any possible barriers to implementing CBS, different stakeholders must engage in careful planning, collaboration, and investment in resources and training. The review indicates that additional research is required to offer evidence-based approach and strategies to prevent overwhelming or disengaging users from either learning or teaching process. PurposeWe undertook a study to evaluate variation in the availability of primary care new patient appointments for Medi-Cal (California Medicaid) enrollees in Northern California, and its relationship to emergency department (ED) use after Medicaid expansion.MethodsWe placed simulated calls by purported Medi-Cal enrollees to 581 primary care clinicians (PCCs) listed as accepting new patients in online directories of Medi-Cal managed care plans. Data from the California Health Interview Survey, Medi-Cal enrollment reports, and California hospital discharge records were used in analyses. We developed multilevel, mixed-effect models to evaluate variation in appointment access. Multiple linear regression was used to examine the relationship between primary care access and ED use by county.ResultsAvailability of PCC new patient appointments to Medi-Cal enrollees lacking a PCC varied significantly across counties in the multilevel model, ranging from 77 enrollees (95% CI, 70-81) to 472 enrollees (95% CI, 378-628) per each available new patient appointment. Just 19% of PCCs had available appointments within the state-mandated 10 business days. Clinicians at Federally Qualified Health Centers had higher availability of new patient appointments (rate ratio = 1.56; 95% CI, 1.24-1.97). Counties with poorer PCC access had higher ED use by Medi-Cal enrollees.ConclusionsIn contrast to findings from other states, access to primary care in Northern California was limited for new patient Medi-Cal enrollees and varied across counties, despite standard statewide reimbursement rates. Counties with more limited access to primary care new patient appointments had higher ED use by Medi-Cal enrollees.

Abstract Background Due to an increase in patient numbers, more cancer patients are being reviewed by non-medical healthcare professionals (HCPs), and it is essential that they can empathise with patients and care for them holistically. ‘A Life in a Day’ is a role reversal simulation (RRS) which demonstrates the challenges, choices and impacts that cancer patients face every day, facilitated by a Smartphone application (app). This study focused on renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and was designed to evaluate the impact of RRS on participants from the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) and the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS), and identify any changes made to clinical practice as a result. Method A survey was conducted via the app before and after the experience. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants over Microsoft Teams. Results Data from the survey showed that after the experience 97% of all participants strongly agreed that they ‘feel empathy for RCC patients’ and 90% strongly agreed that they ‘feel inspired to place patients at the centre of their work’. There were 5 themes extrapolated from the qualitative data: Holistic understanding of Patients, Reflections on Practice, Changes in Practice, Outreach to Colleagues, Education & Training. Conclusion Participants reported an increase in empathy for their patients which inspired them to make changes to their practice. This involved being more holistic in their care and taking on more responsibility. They recommended use of RRS for HCP training and continued professional development. They also suggested incorporation of RRS into the pharmacy undergraduate curriculum.

Background Modern human patient simulators (HPSs) could be used for researching critical scenarios such as apnea oxygenation. We aimed to study the use of a high-fidelity HPS to assess prolonged apnea using various oxygenation strategies with a simple high-flow nasal cannula (15 L/min). Methods An experimental simulation study using an HPS (CAE Healthcare™) was conducted after obtaining approval from the Institutional Review Board. The HPS responded according to real-time physiologically modeled responses to external gases, such as oxygen (O2). Apnea experiments were performed with different physiological settings, such as shunt fraction (5%) and O2 consumption (250, 500, and 750 ml/min). The following four apnea experiments were conducted: no oxygenation (NO), apnea oxygenation alone (AO), preoxygenation alone (PO), and para-oxygenation (PAO). The time to 92%, 75%, and 50% saturation was recorded. Alveolar and arterial gas levels were recorded till 50% saturation. Results At 250 ml/min, PO (1121 s) and PAO (1274.5 s) had a significantly longer time to 50% saturation (400% increase) compared to NO (222.5 s) and AO (239 s). A similar trend was observed for the time to 92% and 75% saturation. At higher O2 consumption rates, a shorter time to desaturation was observed. Conclusions Apnea trends in the HPS correlated with similar prior human experiments. AO without preoxygenation was found to provide no additional benefit. Preoxygenation with high-flow O2 via nasal cannula prolonged the time to desaturation in the PAO more than PO scenario. Therefore, HPSs can be used in future studies where patient safety is a concern.

Background and Aims: Interprofessional simulation has the potential to enhance the perceived realism of clinical simulation in the education of different healthcare professionals. This study considers how the inclusion of more than one profession in clinical simulation contributes to this psychological fidelity, defined as the subjective perception of the realism of a simulation, and the cues identified by medical and nursing students. Methods: Eight focus groups were carried out with 27 medical and 18 nursing students in Newcastle and Oxford, UK. These were carried out immediately after students' participation in simulation sessions consisting of three acute scenarios. Focus group discussions encompassed perceptions of the realism of the simulation and of participants' own and other professional groups. Thematic analysis was carried out on transcripts. Results: The analysis identified features of psychological fidelity that were influenced by the interprofessional element of the simulation. These included overall impressions of realism, and the perceived roles and expectations of doctors and nurses within the simulation. In particular, the presence of the other professional group afforded a more authentic response. Other features varied with the viewpoint of the student groups, in particular the realism of the patient manikin, which held lower psychological fidelity for the nursing students, because it did not allow them to fulfill their perceived role of delivering holistic, relational care. Conclusion: Recognizing "psychological fidelity" as a subjective response to simulation allows greater consideration of the limitations of fidelity as a designed or engineered property of a simulation. While interprofessional involvement directly enhances psychological fidelity in some ways, potential differences in the views of students from different professional groups should be considered when implementing interprofessional simulation. Methodology: This quantitative descriptive-correlational study was conducted with 223 nursing students, using the Escala de Satisfação com as Experiências Clínicas Simuladas (ESECS; Satisfaction with Simulated Clinical Experiences Scale), which includes the Practical, Cognitive, and Realism dimensions. Results: The total mean of global satisfaction with the simulated clinical experiences was 7.501 on a scale of 1 to 10. The socio-demographic characteristics and course year and contents were not predictors of satisfaction. On average, students were more satisfied with the Cognitive dimension and less satisfied with the Realism dimension. Conclusion: Students are satisfied with simulated clinical experiences and understand their importance for acquiring skills and improving their ability to respond during clinical teachings in real-life contexts. Background: In response to the growing demand for community nursing, practical and dynamic changes in educational methods are essential to nurturing competent nurses. The aim of this study was to explore the learning experiences of nursing students’ simulation-based community visits and understand these experiences in detail. Methods: This study followed Colizzi’s phenomenological research method. Nineteen participants were divided into three teams and participated in focus group interviews. The research question was: “How was your experience with the simulated nursing home visit?” Results: Four essential themes were identified: “burden of community nursing simulation-based learning,” “solving the problems faced by patients with dementia through teamwork,” “home-visiting nursing skills learned through physical practice,” and “community nursing competency growth.” Conclusion: The study results provide a basis for developing a community nursing curriculum with effective evaluation and management of community nursing home-visit education using simulation. Purpose This study aimed to identify the effects of a 12-week interprofessional simulation program, operated between February 2020 and January 2021, on the patient safety competencies of healthcare professionals in Switzerland. Methods The simulation training was based on 2 scenarios of hospitalized patients with septic shock and respiratory failure, and trainees were expected to demonstrate patient safety competencies. A single-group before and after study was conducted after the intervention—simulation program, using a measurement tool (the Health Professional Education in Patient Safety Survey) to measure the perceived competencies of physicians, nurses, and nursing assistants. Out of 57 participants, 37 answered the questionnaire surveys 4 times: 48 hours before the training, followed by post-surveys at 24 hours, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks after the training. The linear mixed effect model was applied for the analysis. Results Four components out of 6 perceived patient safety competencies improved at 6 weeks but returned to a similar level before training at 12 weeks. Competencies of “communicating effectively,” “managing safety risks,” “understanding human and environmental factors that influence patient safety,” and “recognize and respond to remove immediate risks of harm” are statistically significant both overall and in the comparison between before the training and 6 weeks after the training. Conclusion Interprofessional simulation programs contributed to developing some areas of patient safety competencies of healthcare professionals, but only for a limited time. Interprofessional simulation programs should be repeated and combined with other forms of support, including case discussions and debriefings, to ensure lasting effects.

Introduction: Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus variant in the Arabian Peninsula. There is a lack of information regarding awareness and practices of community pharmacists in Qatar for this contagious disease. Aim: To determine the quality of the MERS-related information, recommendations, and counseling practices provided by Qatar’s community pharmacists by using Simulated Client Method (SCM). Materials and Methods: An observational cross-sectional study using a non traditional SCM was conducted in community pharmacies of Qatar from February 2017 to April 2017. A total of 30 community pharmacies were visited twice by two independent simulated clients and data regarding, provision of evidence-based information, recommendations and counseling practices were collected to assess the competency of pharmacists in managing MERS as a primary care problem. Both descriptive and inferential statistical methods were used for data analysis. Results: In present study, majority of pharmacists encountered were male and younger than 45-year-old with 44 (73.3%) each. The average number of pharmacists who did not ask about the patient’s current medical conditions 56 (93.3), medications 58 (97.5%), allergies, and smoking status in both scenarios were not asked by any of the pharmacist. Most of the pharmacists gave an incorrect explanation of MERS 43 (71.7%). The overall quality counselling score for the pharmacists (mean±SD; median (IQR)) was {27.5±4.5; 28.5 (25.3-30.0)}. Quality counselling was significantly related to the type of pharmacy (p=0.0478). Conclusion: Qatar community pharmacist’s MERS related information, recommendations, and counseling practices were below expectations and inconsistent, thus urging the need for continuous professional development.

National pediatrics guidelines recommend screening all patients for unmet social needs to improve self-management of chronic conditions and health outcomes and to reduce costs. Practitioners involved in training pediatric clinicians need to understand how to prepare pediatric clinicians to effectively conduct social needs screening and where current training methods fall short. Our qualitative study investigated whether using "standardized" patients during trainee education improved trainees' ability to assess and address adolescent patients' social needs. Vulnerable adolescents should be prioritized in social determinants of health translational research because increased risk taking and emotionality may predispose this population to lower self-esteem and self-efficacy. We trained 23 adolescents (aged 16-18) recruited from an urban health-career education program to act as standardized patients (SPs). Two cohorts of nurse practitioner trainees (n = 36) enrolled in a simulation where the patient-actor presented with a minor chief complaint and related a fabricated complex social history. Pre-encounter, Cohort 1 (n = 18) reviewed psychosocial screeners; Cohort 2 (n = 18) were given in-depth information about social needs before meeting patients. SPs gave individualized feedback to trainees, and self-reflections were analyzed using thematic analysis. In Cohort 1, trainees identified some social needs, yet few intervened. Trainees expressed discomfort in: (a) asking socially sensitive questions and (b) triaging patient versus clinician priorities. Cohort 2 demonstrated improvements compared to Cohort 1 in identifying needs yet had similar difficulty with organization and questioning. Trainees were able to utilize a lower-stakes interaction with patient-actors to raise awareness regarding a patient's sensitive needs and to organize care surrounding these patient-centered concerns.

Introduction: Medical education has benefitted from the introduction of new technology within recent years. Immersivedevices, such as, 360-degree films and virtual reality have become new ways of simulating clinical experiences. The aim of the study was to validate and test reliability of a new measure of engagement.Methods: A between-participants design of 2 groups viewing a clinical consultation on a 360-degree headset or 2D monitor was conducted following computer random allocation of 40 healthcare professionals recruited from scheduled teaching. Twenty-three were assigned to 360-degree and 17 to 2D Medias. Adapted Immersion Experience Questionnaire (AIEQ) and Abridged Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (AIMI) were modified to match factors relating to clinical encounters. AIEQ and AIMI were utilised as the data collection tool by each group following video viewing. Spearman’s rank correlation was used to assess relationship between immersion and motivation. Comparisons between 360-degree and 2D media responses were made using Wilcoxon’s signed ranks test. Abstract Background Health system science (HSS) encompasses both core and cross-cutting domains that emphasize the complex interplay of care delivery, finances, teamwork, and clinical practice that impact care quality and safety in health care. Although HSS skills are required during residency training for physicians, current HSS didactics have less emphasis on hands-on practice and experiential learning. Medical simulation can allow for experiential participation and reflection in a controlled environment. Our goal was to develop and pilot three simulation scenarios as part of an educational module for resident physicians that incorporated core and cross-cutting HSS domains. Methods Each scenario included a brief didactic, an interactive simulation in small-group breakout rooms, and a structured debriefing. The case scenario topics consisted of educational leadership, quality and safety, and implementation science. Learners from four residency programs (psychiatry, emergency medicine, orthopedics, ophthalmology) participated January – March 2021. Results A total of 95 resident physicians received our curricular module, and nearly all (95%) participants who completed a post-session survey reported perceived learning gains. Emotional reactions to the session were positive especially regarding the interactive role-play format. Recommendations for improvement included participation from non-physician professions and tailoring of scenarios for specific disciplines/role. Knowledge transfer included use of multiple stakeholder perspectives and effective negotiation by considering power/social structures. Conclusions The simulation-based scenarios can be feasibly applied for learner groups across different residency training programs. Simulations were conducted in a virtual learning environment, but future work can include in-person and actor-based simulations to further enhance emotional reactions and the reality of the case scenarios.

SBE has improved students’ knowledge, understanding, and numerous essential skills within undergraduate pharmacy education, similar to traditional teaching methods. However, SBE has become crucial for developing students’ teamwork, decision-making, and communication skills. Even though the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) has acknowledged the benefit of SBE in interprofessional education (IPE) and the introductory pharmacy practice experience (IPPE). This article provides evidence that SBE can be effective beyond that. This narrative review is focused on the literature related to SBE modalities and the assessment methods of student learning outcomes in the undergraduate pharmacy curriculum. The review illustrates that SBE is an effective teaching method that could be utilized within the pharmacy curriculum. The review also could help pharmacy educators decide on the best modality and placement of integrating patient simulation within the pharmacy curriculum. Abstract Background and Aims Interprofessional simulation has the potential to enhance the perceived realism of clinical simulation in the education of different healthcare professionals. This study considers how the inclusion of more than one profession in clinical simulation contributes to this psychological fidelity, defined as the subjective perception of the realism of a simulation, and the cues identified by medical and nursing students. Methods Eight focus groups were carried out with 27 medical and 18 nursing students in Newcastle and Oxford, UK. These were carried out immediately after students' participation in simulation sessions consisting of three acute scenarios. Focus group discussions encompassed perceptions of the realism of the simulation and of participants' own and other professional groups. Thematic analysis was carried out on transcripts. Results The analysis identified features of psychological fidelity that were influenced by the interprofessional element of the simulation. These included overall impressions of realism, and the perceived roles and expectations of doctors and nurses within the simulation. In particular, the presence of the other professional group afforded a more authentic response. Other features varied with the viewpoint of the student groups, in particular the realism of the patient manikin, which held lower psychological fidelity for the nursing students, because it did not allow them to fulfill their perceived role of delivering holistic, relational care. Conclusion Recognizing “psychological fidelity” as a subjective response to simulation allows greater consideration of the limitations of fidelity as a designed or engineered property of a simulation. While interprofessional involvement directly enhances psychological fidelity in some ways, potential differences in the views of students from different professional groups should be considered when implementing interprofessional simulation.

Objective: to describe the experience in the elaboration and implementation of a remote course on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for health professionals by means of Telesimulation. Development: an experience report about a course for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training, developed remotely and synchronously with 227 health professionals between June and July 2021 in the state of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. The course was taught for 35 groups of students by applying the following: pre-test, video class and posttest 1; and Telesimulation and post-test 2 with perception assessment. In the assessment, Telesimulation stood out as a motivation strategy for improved learning about the topic, evidenced by the increase in the number of correct answers between the tests. Conclusion: the participants showed interest in the course, which proved to be a learning strategy, also considered as an innovation possibility for permanent education in health.
