In medical ultrasound scanning applications PMUT (Piezo Micromachined Ultrasound transducers) need to be assembled along with the ASIC devices that drive the PMUT devices in transmission and receive the reflected ultrasound signal. To produce a sufficiently high resolution image, a large number of interconnections are required between the PMUT device and the companion ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) which is done using Cu pillar technology. This integration of Ultrasound Transducers using wafer level bonding between the traducer and the ASIC wafer has already been demonstrated [1]. This process suffers from the problem of yield if a non functioning transducer is bonded to a functioning ASIC or vice versa, and it also requires the ASIC die to be the same dimensions of the traducer die. In this article we will present a solution where known good ASIC die are assembled in a FOWLP (Fan Out wafer level Package) with known good PMUT device assembled using Cu pillar technology allowing for the optimisation of the ASIC for size/yield while still maintain the performance of the transducer required. Verification of the assembly flow has been done using a dummy die to ensure that the fully assembled FOWLP is practicable.

Here, we report the first examples of achiral unsymmetrical three-ring bent-shaped liquid crystals comprising amide and imine linkages with transverse substituents of methyl and chloro moieties on the central phenyl ring in the core, exhibiting polar banana phases. The extensive intra and inter molecular H-bonding induced novel banana mesomorphic phases. One-dimensional stacking in the mesomorphic phase as well as ferroelectric polar order promoted by intermolecular H-bonding of amide linkage is demonstrated. The compounds exhibit multifunctional properties viz., the enantiotropic liquid crystalline (LC) phase at ambient temperatures, electro-optical response, spontaneous polarisation, emission characteristics with large Stokes shift, and even charge distribution with large voltage holding ratio (VHR) values. The smectic type phase was confirmed by XRD studies and polar order was established by switching current and dielectric investigations. DFT studies revealed the importance of their suitability for display applications.

BACKGROUND: Allergic rhinitis is a common condition, though not life threatening, causes significant morbidity in terms of quality of life. Confirmation of allergen as etiological agent is cumbersome. Hence need for a simple test is vital and eosinophil parameters were looked at to answer the quest. AIM: To find out the prevalence of e osinophilia in Allergic rhinitis . To assess the value of nasal cytogram as an alternative investigation in diagnosing allergic rhinitis . MATERIALS & METHODS: Prospective study of 200 cases divided into two groups of 100 each was done. One group clinically with allergic rhinitis and other without. All cases had clinical examination after history was taken, Blood Absolute eosinophil count, Nasal smear for eosinophils done and assessed. RESULTS: Of the 200 patients examined in two groups of 100 each, mean age of allergic rhinitis patients was 26.22 years . Allergic rhinitis was more common in males than females. Prevalence of nasal eosinophilia was 61%.and blood eosinophilia was 57% in allergic rhinitis patients. Nasal smear sensitivity was 61% and specificity w as 87% . CONCLUSION: Nasal smear eosinophilia is a valid test, can be quickly and easily performed and read. Being an in - expensive test can be used to screen the patients of allergic rhinitis

Non-symmetrically substituted four-ring achiral bent-core compounds with polar substituents, i.e.., chloro in the bent or transverse direction in the central core and cyano in the lateral direction at one terminal end of the molecule, are designed and synthesized. These molecules possess an alkoxy chain attached at only one end of the bent-core molecule. The molecular structure characterization is consistent with data from elemental and spectroscopic analysis. The materials thermal behaviour and phase characterization have been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing microscopy. All the compounds exhibit a wide-ranging monotropic nematic phase.

The effects of application of farm yard manure (FYM) and clay mineral (CM) on soil and plant characteristics like soil moisture at field capacity, permanent wilting point, leaf area, leaf nitrogen, relative water content, yield of tomato were examined based on field experiments conducted in a semi-arid alfisol at Hyderabad during 1998 -99 and 1999-2000. Two levels of FYM and three levels of CM (fullers earth) were applied in the filed. The Analysis of Variance indicated that application of 16 t/ha of CM together with 10 t/ha of FYM retained a significantly higher soil moisture as measured by pressure outflow and gravimetric methods. The per cent survival, leaf area and relative water content was also significantly higher. On the other hand, application of 8 t/ha of CM together with 10 t/ha of FYM helped to achieve maximum leaf N, higher marketable yield, fruit firmness, total soluble solids, total soluble solids-acidity ratio in tomato under semi-arid alfisols.
