Abstract

脑梗死是全球范围内致残率和致死率较高的疾病之一，大量研究表明，远端缺血预适应（remote ischemic preconditioning，RIPC）能够显著提高靶器官对缺血的耐受程度，减小梗死面积，改善患者预后，但目前对其在脑梗死发生发展中的作用机制研究较少。本文将从神经、体液和免疫3个方面，结合相关信号通路对RIPC在脑梗死中的作用及作用机制进行总结，并综述RIPC目前在临床缺血性脑疾病中的应用进展，以期为后续研究提供参考依据。 Abstract: Cerebral infarction is one of the diseases with high rates of disability and death worldwide, but there is still a lack of more effective treatments. Many studies showed that remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) can significantly improve ischemic tolerance of target organs, reduce infarct size and improve prognosis. However, its role and mechanism in the development of cerebral infarction are still little studied. This paper will summarize the role and mechanism of RIPC in cerebral infarction from the following aspects: neural, humoral, immune and related signaling pathways, and review the current research progress of RIPC in clinical cerebral ischemic diseases to provide a reference for subsequent research.

34. Effects of Sodium Silicate Alkali Sludge on the Rheological and Mechanical Properties of an Alkali-Activated Slag System.

Abstract

The application of alkali sludge (derived from sodium silicate production) as a supplementary material for the cementitious system of alkali-activated slag was investigated through tests of mechanical strength, rheology, heat of hydration, and microscopic analysis. The enhanced alkali sludge dosage and alkali equivalent content increased the yield stress and plastic viscosity of the alkali-activated slag while decreasing the fluidity due to the better water absorption of the alkali sludge, which increased the flocculation of the particles. The compressive strength reached the maximum, with 30% alkali sludge and 7% alkali equivalent content. The addition of the alkali sludge postponed the formation of the hydrated calcium silicate (C-S-H) gel and, therefore, delayed the peak heat of hydration, but ultimately increased the total hydration heat release. The major hydration product of calcium silicate hydrate was found in the alkali-activated slag with a 10–30% blend of alkali sludge. This work provides a reference for the utilization of alkaline solid waste from the chemical industry as an alkali activator in cementitious construction materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Aims Chemoattractants and their cognate receptors are essential for leucocyte recruitment during atherogenesis, and atherosclerotic plaques preferentially occur at predilection sites of the arterial wall with disturbed flow (d-flow). In profiling the endothelial expression of atypical chemoattractant receptors (ACKRs), we found that Ackr5 (CCRL2) was up-regulated in an endothelial subpopulation by atherosclerotic stimulation. We therefore investigated the role of CCRL2 and its ligand chemerin in atherosclerosis and the underlying mechanism. Methods and results By analysing scRNA-seq data of the left carotid artery under d-flow and scRNA-seq datasets GSE131776 of ApoE−/− mice from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, we found that CCRL2 was up-regulated in one subpopulation of endothelial cells in response to d-flow stimulation and atherosclerosis. Using CCRL2−/−ApoE−/− mice, we showed that CCRL2 deficiency protected against plaque formation primarily in the d-flow areas of the aortic arch in ApoE−/− mice fed high-fat diet. Disturbed flow induced the expression of vascular endothelial CCRL2, recruiting chemerin, which caused leucocyte adhesion to the endothelium. Surprisingly, instead of binding to monocytic CMKLR1, chemerin was found to activate β2 integrin, enhancing ERK1/2 phosphorylation and monocyte adhesion. Moreover, chemerin was found to have protein disulfide isomerase-like enzymatic activity, which was responsible for the interaction of chemerin with β2 integrin, as identified by a Di-E-GSSG assay and a proximity ligation assay. For clinical relevance, relatively high serum levels of chemerin were found in patients with acute atherothrombotic stroke compared to healthy individuals. Conclusions Our findings indicate that d-flow-induced CCRL2 promotes atherosclerotic plaque formation via a novel CCRL2-chemerin-β2 integrin axis, providing potential targets for the prevention or therapeutic intervention of atherosclerosis. Abstract

Background: The serum orexin A level was significantly lower among patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and negatively related to the volume of the infarction, but the relationship between serum orexin A and prognosis of AIS was still unclear. We aimed to clarify the association between serum orexin A and the short‐term neurological improvement in patients with mild to moderate AIS. Methods: We consecutively enrolled patients with first ever mild to moderate AIS admitted to hospital within 48 h from symptom onset in this prospective observational study. The serum orexin A concentrations were determined on the second morning since the admission. The short‐term neurological improvement was defined as more than 1 point decrease in the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score within 7 days after admission. Results: We detected increased serum orexin A level in mild to moderate AIS patients with early onset of stroke‐related insomnia (33.44 vs 18.66 pg/ml, p =.004) as well as in patients with short‐term neurological improvement compared to those without improvement (31.78 vs 16.24 pg/ml, p =.038). The serum orexin A level was positively associated with the short‐term neurological improvement after adjusting for sleep condition and other related variables. Conclusion: Serum orexin A might be a useful biomarker for the assessment of early prognosis in patients with mild to moderate AIS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Explosion tests were performed underwater to study the blast resistance of water-backed sandwich panels. Effects on the structural response of face-sheet and core configurations, including face-sheet thickness, cell wall thickness of the honeycomb, core thickness and charge mass, were investigated by a large number of experiments. Quantitative results were obtained in the tests with corresponding sensors and further processing. Further results characterized the permanent deformation of sandwich panels. A failure mode map was adopted to identify the effect of design parameters on the structural failure mechanism at this blast magnitude. Finally, a comparison between sandwich panels and monolithic plates was performed. The comparative study provided further experimental evidence for the benefits of sandwich in water-backed configuration. Present study led to the apprehension of blast resistance of water-backed sandwich structure to underwater blast load, thereby developed useful guidelines for the design of blast-resistant structural systems.

Abstract

Damage severity of sandwich panels to underwater explosion load depend not only on the shock factors, but also on the fluid behind the structure. Underwater explosion tests were performed on water-backed sandwich panels to examine the deformation and failure of such composite structure. The dynamic blast response of water-backed sandwich panel was investigated using the LS-DYNA software. An analytical three-stage model was developed for the deformation history of water-backed sandwich panel subjected to shock loading in water. Blast resistance of water-backed sandwich panel was compared with monolithic plate of equivalent areal mass and air-backed sandwich panel with the same configurations. Water-backed sandwich panel exhibited the best deformation/damage resistant capability. Compared with air-backed sandwich panel, core material exhibited greater volumetric strain when the sandwich structure wetted on both sides. Overpressure in the water behind structure was reduced to about 7% by using sandwich structure over monolithic plate of equivalent thickness. Present study led to the apprehension of dynamic response of water-backed sandwich structure to underwater blast load, thereby developed useful guidelines for the design of blast-resistant structural systems.
