This paper presents the results of the study aimed at determination of plasticity of selected grades of hard-deformed aluminium alloys of 5xxx series in terms of parameters characteristic for the process of extrusion. The examinations were carried out for 5083 and 5754 alloys in the torsion test using STD 812 torsion plastometer. Using the empirical tests, the study evaluated yield stress of alloys depending on strain, strain rate and temperature and the results were approximated and mathematical models of rheological properties of the aluminium grades studied were determined within the range of parameters of deformation and temperature.

The paper present the results of physical simulation of the deformation of the two-layered AZ31/eutectic material using the Gleeble 3800 metallurgical processes simulator. The eutectic layer was produced on the AZ31 substrate using thermochemical treatment. The specimens of AZ31 alloy were heat treated in contact with aluminium powder at 445°C in a vacuum furnace. Depending on the heating time, Al-enriched surface layers with a thickness of 400, 700 and 1100 μm were fabricated on a substrate which was characterized by an eutectic structure composed of the Mg17Al12 phase and a solid solution of aluminium in magnesium. In the study, physical simulation of the fabricated two-layered specimens with a varying thickness of the eutectic layer were deformed using the plane strain compression test at various values of strain rates. The testing results have revealed that it is possible to deform the two-layered AZ31/eutectic material at low strain rates and small deformation values.

The article presents results of physical modelling of processes of plastic working of the modified Zr-1%Nb zirconium alloy, obtained using different methods of the plastometric testing. The „Gleeble 3800‚ metallurgical process simulator, a DIL805 A/D dilatometer with a plastometric attachment, and a „Setaram‚ plastometer were used for testing. Based on the obtained testing results, the values of the yield stress and limiting plasticity of the tested alloy were determined for wide ranges of temperature variation (?=20÷950 °?) and strain rate variation (=0.1÷15.0 s-1) under continuous loading conditions. It was found that by using different testing methods, different alloy properties, characteristic for a given plastic working process, could be obtained.

The paper analyzes the high-temperature plasticity characteristics of 20MnB4 and 30MnB4 with micro-additives, intended for cold upsetting and high-carbon steels C45 and C70 in the "solid phase-liquid" during heating and cooling. The investigation was conducted to determine the plastic formability of the examined alloy under hot plastic working conditions. Experiments were carried out on the simulator Gleeble 3800 with the aim of determining the susceptibility of 20MnB4, 30MnB4, C45 and C70 steels to cracking at high temperature. The nil strength (NST), nil ductility (NDT) and ductility recovery temperatures (DRT), and the fracture toughness factor and the BRT (brittleness temperature range) have been determined. The article presents the results of rheological testing of Al 5754 alloy in series 5xxx, obtained for deformation parameters corresponding to the process of extrusion of large-size sections on presses. The effect of deformation conditions on the variations in yield stress magnitude was determined. Then, using the least squares method., the actual values of the coefficients of the mathematical model describing the rheological properties of the material under investigation were determined, thus obtaining grounds for conducting the model studies of the extrusion process based on numerical methods. The article reports the results of investigation into variations in the rheological properties of the Zr-1% Nb alloy when deformed under the conditions of physical modelling of the process of multi-stage hot open die forging of ingots. The programme for rheological testing of the alloy was developed based on the simplex planning method. Tests were carried out on a „Gleeble 3800" plastometer. Based on the rheological test results, a new scheme of ingot deformation in forging process was developed and the experimental verification of the model study results was made in industrial conditions. From the obtained results, high effectiveness of the method of determining the thermomechanical conditions as applied to the process of forging zirconium alloy ingots has been found. This study presents results of the examinations aimed at determination of rheological properties of selected grades of medium and high-carbon steel grades (C45 and C72D). The examinations were carried out for the hot torsion test using STD 812 torsion plastometer. The results of experimental studies were approximated with the function used for determination of yield stress depending on strain, strain rate and temperature. The article presents results of the research concerning the physical modeling of plastic working of AZ31 magnesium alloy using two research methods. These studies were conducted using a metallurgical process simulator and torsional plastometer. The research was done for temperature range 200 ÷ 400 °C and strain rate from 0,1 to 20,0 s-1, depending on the testing method. The results allow to determine the coefficients in yield equation needed for the numerical research. The paper presents the results of physical modelling of the plastic deformation of the two-layered AZ31 - Al alloys. The AZ31 - Al feedstock was produced using the diffusion bonding method. Heating under pressure led to the formation of a continuous layer of the intermetallic phases at the bond interface of AZ31 - Al. A compression test was used to determine the plastic deformation of the two-layered AZ31 - Al alloys. Based on the analysis of the investigation results it has been found that, as the strain rate decreases and temperature increases, the intermetallic phase yields, and a distinct thinning of the intermetallic phase layer has occurred in the zone directly affected by the anvil. Fluorodeoxyglucose F18 (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging can help clinicians pursue the differential diagnosis of various neurodegenerative diseases. It has become an invaluable diagnostic tool in routine clinical practice in conjunction with computed tomography (CT) imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and biomarker studies. We present a single-institution case series and systematic literature review, showing how FDG-PET imaging has helped physicians diagnose neurodegenerative diseases and their mimickers and how patient care was amended. A single institution analysis and comprehensive literature search were completed following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. These medical subjects' headings (MeSH) terms were used: "FDG-PET" AND "dementia" OR "Alzheimer's" OR "neurodegeneration" OR "frontotemporal dementia" OR "atypical parkinsonian syndrome" OR "primary progressive aphasia" OR "lewy body dementia." The inclusion criteria included studies with uncertain diagnoses of neurocognitive disease resolved with FDG-PET, PET/MRI, or PET/CT hybrid imaging. A literature search resulted in 3,976 articles. After considering inclusion and exclusion criteria, 14 case reports and 1 case series were selected, representing 19 patients. The average age of patients was 70.8 years (range: 54-83 years). Five of the 19 patients were females. Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) had the highest propensity for being misidentified as another neurodegenerative disease, followed by Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Without accurate molecular imaging, neurodegenerative diseases may be missed or misdiagnosed. Mastitis is a multifactorial inflammatory disease. The increase in antibiotic resistance of bacteria that cause mastitis means that cattle breeders would prefer to reduce the use of antibiotics. Recently, therapies using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from various sources have gained significant interest in the development of regenerative medicine in humans and animals, due to their extraordinary range of properties and functions. The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of an allogeneic stem cells derived from bone marrow (BMSC) and adipose tissue (ADSC) in treating mastitis in dairy cattle. The research material consisted of milk and blood samples collected from 39 Polish Holstein-Friesian cows, 36 of which were classified as having mastitis, based on cytological evaluation of their milk. The experimental group was divided into subgroups according to the method of MSC administration: intravenous, intramammary, and intravenous + intramammary, and according to the allogeneic stem cells administered: BMSC and ADSC. The research material was collected at several time intervals: before the administration of stem cells, after 24 and 72 h, and after 7 days. Blood samples were collected to assess hematological parameters and the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines, while the milk samples were used for microbiological assessment and to determine the somatic cells count (SCC). The administration of allogeneic MSCs resulted in a reduction in the total number of bacterial cells, Staphylococcus aureus, bacteria from the Enterobacteriaceae group, and a systematic decrease in SCC in milk. Background: Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy found in developed countries. Because therapy can be curative at first, early detection and diagnosis are crucial for successful treatment. Early diagnosis allows patients to avoid radical therapies and offers conservative management options. There are currently no proven biomarkers that predict the risk of disease occurrence, enable early identification or support prognostic evaluation. Consequently, there is increasing interest in discovering sensitive and specific biomarkers for the detection of endometrial cancer using noninvasive approaches., Content: Hormonal imbalance caused by unopposed estrogen affects the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation and apoptosis, which can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and carcinogenesis. In addition, due to their ability to cause oxidative stress, estradiol metabolites have both carcinogenic and anticarcinogenic properties. Catechol estrogens are converted to reactive quinones, resulting in oxidative DNA damage that can initiate the carcinogenic process. The molecular anticancer mechanisms are still not fully understood, but it has been established that some estradiol metabolites generate reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species, resulting in nitro-oxidative stress that causes cancer cell cycle arrest or cell death. Therefore, identifying biomarkers that reflect this hormonal imbalance and the presence of endometrial cancer in minimally invasive or noninvasive samples such as blood or urine could significantly improve early detection and treatment outcomes., (© 2024. The aim of this study was to identify the c.495C > T polymorphism within exon 1 of the osteopontin gene (OPN), and to analyze its association with susceptibility to ketosis in Polish Holstein-Friesian (HF) cows. The study utilized blood samples from 977 HF cows, for the determination of β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHB) and for DNA isolation. The c.495C > T polymorphism of the bovine osteopontin gene was determined by PCR-RFLP. The CT genotype (0.50) was deemed the most common, while TT (0.08) was the rarest genotype. Cows with ketosis most often had the CC genotype, while cows with the TT genotype had the lowest incidence of ketosis. To confirm the relationship between the genotype and ketosis in cows, a weight of evidence (WoE) was generated. A very strong effect of the TT genotype on resistance to ketosis was demonstrated. The distribution of the ROC curve shows that the probability of resistance to ketosis is > 75% if cows have the TT genotype of the OPN gene (cutoff value is 0.758). Results suggest that TT genotype at the c.495C > T locus of the OPN gene might be effective way to detect the cows with risk of ketosis., (© 2023. The Author(s).)

This article presents the results of testing the conditions of closing foundry voids during the hot forging operation of an ingot made of zirconium with 1% Nb alloy and use of physical and numerical modeling, continuing research presented in a previous thematically related article published in the journal Materials . The study of the impact of forging operation parameters on the rheology of zirconium with 1% Nb alloy was carried out on a Gleeble 3800 device. Using the commercial FORGE ® NxT 2.1 program, a numerical analysis was performed of the influence of thermo-mechanical parameters of the hot elongation operation in trapezoidal flat and rhombic trapezoidal anvils on the closure of foundry voids. The analysis of the obtained test results was used to formulate recommendations on the technology of hot forging and the anvilgeometry, ensuring closure of foundry voids. Nanopore sequencing is a third-generation biopolymer sequencing technique that relies on monitoring the changes in an electrical current that occur as nucleic acids are passed through a protein nanopore. Increasing quality of reads generated by nanopore sequencing systems encourages their application in genome-wide polymorphism detection and genotyping. In this study, we employed nanopore sequencing to identify genome-wide polymorphisms in the horse genome. To reduce the size and complexity of genome fragments for sequencing in a simple and cost-efficient manner, we amplified random DNA fragments using a modified DOP-PCR and sequenced the resulting products using the MinION system. After initial filtering, this generated 28,426 polymorphisms, which were validated at a 3% error rate. Upon further filtering for polymorphism and reproducibility, we identified 9495 SNPs that reflected the horse population structure. To conclude, the use of nanopore sequencing, in conjunction with a genome enrichment step, is a promising tool that can be practical in a variety of applications, including genotyping, population genomics, association studies, linkage mapping, and potentially genomic selection.

In this article, we present research results on the closing conditions of internal metallurgical discontinuities during the hot elongation operation of a Zr-1%Nb alloy ingot using physical and numerical modeling. Research on the influence of thermal and deformation parameters of elongation operations on the rheological behavior of a Zr-1% Nb alloy was conducted using the Gleeble 3800 metallurgical process simulator. Modeling of the influence of thermal-mechanical parameters of hot elongation operations in combinations of rhombic and flat anvils on the closure of metallurgical discontinuities was performed with the help of the FORGE ® NxT 2.1 program. Based on the results of the research, recommendations were made regarding forging elongation technology and the geometry of working tools in order to ensure the closure of metallurgical discontinuities during hot elongation operations of Zr-1% Nb alloy ingots.
