4. UniPoll: A Unified Social Media Poll Generation Framework via Multi-Objective Optimization

Abstract

Social media platforms are vital for expressing opinions and understanding public sentiment, yet many analytical tools overlook passive users who mainly consume content without engaging actively. To address this, we introduce UniPoll, an advanced framework designed to automatically generate polls from social media posts using sophisticated natural language generation (NLG) techniques. Unlike traditional methods that struggle with social media's informal and context-sensitive nature, UniPoll leverages enriched contexts from user comments and employs multi-objective optimization to enhance poll relevance and engagement. To tackle the inherently noisy nature of social media data, UniPoll incorporates Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and synthetic data generation, ensuring robust performance across real-world scenarios. The framework surpasses existing models, including T5, ChatGLM3, and GPT-3.5, in generating coherent and contextually appropriate question-answer pairs. Evaluated on the Chinese WeiboPolls dataset and the newly introduced English RedditPolls dataset, UniPoll demonstrates superior cross-lingual and cross-platform capabilities, making it a potent tool to boost user engagement and create a more inclusive environment for interaction., Comment: Accepted by IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems. Abstract

Humans rely increasingly on sensors to address grand challenges and to improve quality of life in the era of digitalization and big data. For ubiquitous sensing, flexible sensors are developed to overcome the limitations of conventional rigid counterparts. Despite rapid advancement in bench-side research over the last decade, the market adoption of flexible sensors remains limited. To ease and to expedite their deployment, here, we identify bottlenecks hindering the maturation of flexible sensors and propose promising solutions. We first analyze challenges in achieving satisfactory sensing performance for real-world applications and then summarize issues in compatible sensor-biology interfaces, followed by brief discussions on powering and connecting sensor networks. Issues en route to commercialization and for sustainable growth of the sector are also analyzed, highlighting environmental concerns and emphasizing nontechnical issues such as business, regulatory, and ethical considerations. Additionally, we look at future intelligent flexible sensors. In proposing a comprehensive roadmap, we hope to steer research efforts towards common goals and to guide coordinated development strategies from disparate communities. Through such collaborative efforts, scientific breakthroughs can be made sooner and capitalized for the betterment of humanity.

Abstract

The optimization of material gain in optically pumped dye-doped polymer thin films is an important task in the development of organic solid-state lasers. In this work, we present a theoretical model that accommodates the influence of concentration quenching on material gain and employ it to study the novel dye molecule 2-(4-(bis(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)amino)benzylidene)malononitrile (PMN) and the well-established dye molecule 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM) embedded in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). Polycarbonate was tested as an alternative host material for PMN. The material gain in these dye-doped polymer thin films was determined by the variable stripe length method. The inclusion of concentration quenching in the material gain expression is able to significantly reduce the overestimation of the gain efficiency inherent to a linear model., Comment: \copyright{} 2019 Optical Society of America. 32. Low-Temperature Fabrication of Stable Black-Phase CsPbI3 Perovskite Flexible Photodetectors Toward Wearable Health Monitoring.

Abstract

Highlights: Low-temperature fabrication of black-phase CsPbI3 perovskite films is first demonstrated by using diphenylphosphinic chloride additive under 30–50 °C, arising from the steric effect and chloride insertion engineering. Large-area high-quality all-inorganic perovskite films with fewer defects enhanced crystallographic orientation, and excellent environmental stability is fabricated. The record performances are demonstrated for flexible wearable photodetectors with a responsivity of 42.1 A W−1, a detectivity of 1.3 × 1014 Jones, high-fidelity image, photoplethysmography sensor functions, and high mechanical stability. Flexible wearable optoelectronic devices fabricated from organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites significantly accelerate the development of portable energy, biomedicine, and sensing fields, but their poor thermal stability hinders further applications. Conversely, all-inorganic perovskites possess excellent thermal stability, but black-phase all-inorganic perovskite film usually requires high-temperature annealing steps, which increases energy consumption and is not conducive to the fabrication of flexible wearable devices. In this work, an unprecedented low-temperature fabrication of stable black-phase CsPbI3 perovskite films is demonstrated by the in situ hydrolysis reaction of diphenylphosphinic chloride additive. The released diphenyl phosphate and chloride ions during the hydrolysis reaction significantly lower the phase transition temperature and effectively passivate the defects in the perovskite films, yielding high-performance photodetectors with a responsivity of 42.1 A W−1 and a detectivity of 1.3 × 1014 Jones. Furthermore, high-fidelity image and photoplethysmography sensors are demonstrated based on the fabricated flexible wearable photodetectors. Abstract

Liquid manipulation using tubular actuators finds diverse applications ranging from microfluidics, printing, liquid transfer to micro‐reactors. Achieving flexible and simple regulation of manipulated liquid droplets during transport is crucial for the tubular liquid actuators to perform complex and multiple functions, yet it remains challenging. Here, a facile tubular actuator for directional transport of various liquid droplets under the control of an externally applied magnetic field is presented. The surfaces of the actuator can be engineered with submillimeter‐sized through‐hole pores, which enables the liquid droplet to be easily modulated in the transport process. Furthermore, the liquid actuator with featured through‐hole pores is expanded to function as a switch in an integrated external electric circuit by magnetically controlling the motion of a conductive liquid droplet. This work develops a strategy for regulating liquid droplets in the tubular actuation systems, which may inspire ideas for designing functional liquid actuators with potential applications in microfluidics, microchemical reaction, liquid switch, and liquid robotics.
