Abstract Meniscus-derived stem cells (MeSCs), a unique type of MSC, have outstanding advantages in meniscal cytotherapy and tissue engineering, but the effects and molecular mechanisms of PBM on MeSCs are still unclear. We used 660-nm LED light with different energy densities to irradiate six human MeSC samples and tested their proliferation rate via cell counting, chondrogenic differentiation capacity via the DMMB assay, mitochondrial activity via the MTT assay, and gene expression via qPCR. The proliferation ability, chondrogenic capacity and mitochondrial activity of the 18 J/cm2 group were greater than those of the 4 J/cm2 and control groups. The mRNA expression levels of Akt, PI3K, TGF-β3, Ki67 and Notch-1 in the 18 J/cm2 group were greater than those in the other groups in most samples. After chondrogenic induction, the expression of Col2A1, Sox9 and Aggrecan in the 18 J/cm2 group was significantly greater than that in the 4 J/cm2 and control groups in most of the samples. The variation in the MTT values and Src, PI3K, Akt, mTOR and GSK3β levels decreased with time. The results showed that 660-nm LED red light promoted proliferation and chondrogenic differentiation and affected the gene expression of MeSCs, and the effects on gene expression and mitochondrial activity decreased with time.

Abstract Introduction Reducing childhood mortality by curtailing the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases is contingent upon a robust and high-performing routine immunization system. According to the available data, the full immunization coverage (FIC) in the state of Bihar (India) has reached ~ 71%. While the government aspires to reach 90% FIC, a systematic evidence-based investigation of the reasons behind underimmunization as well as the identification of drivers and enablers to reach and sustain 90% FIC is critical. This study aimed to review the factors leading to underimmunized children in the state of Bihar and develop a forward-looking roadmap to reach and sustain 90% FIC by adopting a system strengthening approach. Method We conducted a desk review, followed by extensive stakeholder interviews and field visits to document and analyze the data and evidence relevant to routine immunization system performance in the state of Bihar. The stakeholders included the State Immunization Officer, District Immunization Officers, Block-level health officials, representatives from development agencies, healthcare workers, and caregivers. A total of eighty-six structured interviews were conducted, which included qualitative and quantitative parameters. Result While positive results were observed from the assessment of Bihar’s immunization system, the implementation of targeted strategies for supply, service delivery and demand can provide a means to achieve FIC of 90%. The roadmap developed by the Government of Bihar enlists 40 + interventions across key thematic areas and has been prioritized over a 5-year time horizon as short, medium, and long-term milestones to achieve 90% FIC. These interventions include strengthening the data availability and quality, improving the governance and review mechanism, augmenting the capacity of health workers involve with immunization programme, and initiatives to increase demand for immunization services. Conclusion The Bihar’s Immunization Roadmap development project work follows a methodical approach to assess and identify intervention to improve immunization coverage and can provide information and reference to other states and countries that are aiming to formulate similar action plans.

Abstract Background The effect of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir on preventing post-COVID condition (PCC) in the BA4, BA5, and XBB Omicron predominant periods is not well understood. The purpose of this study was to assess how nirmatrelvir/ritonavir treatment affected both PCC and health-related quality of life. Methods This retrospective cohort study enrolled 2,524 adults aged 18 years and older who were eligible for nirmatrelvir/ritonavir between July 14 to November 14, 2022. All outcomes were observed from the patient’s first visit to the primary health clinic, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after testing positive for COVID-19. The primary outcome was the presence of PCC. Secondary outcomes included the effects on health-related quality of life, such as walking, bathing and dressing, activities, cause adverse emotions or signs that prevent individuals from leading normal lives over a 180-day observation period. Results There were no significant differences observed between the nirmatrelvir/ritonavir and those not administered (control group) in terms of PCC symptoms at 3 months (OR 0.71 95% CI 0.31, 1.64) and 6 months (OR 1.30 95% CI 0.76, 2.21). At 3 months, the use of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir was associated with a 26% reduction in symptoms causing negative emotions (OR 0.74 95% CI 0.60, 0.92) and an increased likelihood of symptoms limiting walking (OR 1.58 95% CI 1.10, 2.27). However, there were no significant differences between the nirmatrelvir/ritonavir and the control group in terms of the impact of PCC on health-related quality of life at 6 months. Conclusions Our study indicates that the administration of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir does not significantly reduce PCC after 3 months and 6 months in a population with high vaccination coverage.

Abstract The purpose of the current study was to examine chemical composition, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of leaves extract of Ajuga integrifolia Buch.-Ham. The antibacterial and antioxidant properties of three different solvents i.e. methanol (AIM), hexane (AIH), and water (AIW) were tested against two bacterial strains Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The presence of antioxidant and antibacterial chemicals, such as hexanedioic acid, hexadecanoic acid, nonadecadiene, hexadecen-1-ol, octadecadienoic acid, nonane, phytol, henicosanal, stearyl aldehyde, and neophytadiene, were depicted in the GCMS chromatograms of three extracts. After the extracts' FTIR peaks were examined, it was discovered that phenols, amines, hydroxy groups, and components linked to amino acids were present. Compared to the Hexane and Water extracts, the Methanol extract showed a greater phenolic (196.16 ± 0.0083 mg gallic acid equivalent/gram), flavonoid (222.77 ± 0.002 mg rutin equivalents/g) and phosphomolybdate assay for total antioxidant activity (557.62 ± 0.0023 mg AAE/g). Methanol extract showed the highest scavenging activity with a minimum IC50 value was observed in DPPH assay. AIM showed its maximum anti-denaturation activity i.e. 3.75 ± 0.28%. For antibacterial activities, best zone of inhibition (ZOI) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was observed in case of the methanol extract as compared to other extracts against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and β-lactam-resistant Escherichia coli.

AbstractFabrication of haemostatic materials with excellent antimicrobial, biocompatible and biodegradable properties remains as a major challenge in the field of medicine. Haemostatic agents play vital role in protecting patients and military individuals during emergency situations. Natural polymers serve as promising materials for fabricating haemostatic compounds due to their efficacy in promoting hemostasis and wound healing. In the present work, sodium alginate/aloe vera/sericin (SA/AV/S) scaffold has been fabricated using a simple cost-effective casting method. The prepared SA/AV/S scaffolds were characterised for their physicochemical properties such as scanning electron microscope, UV–visible spectroscopy and Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy. SA/AV/S scaffold showed good mechanical strength, swelling behaviour and antibacterial activity. In vitro experiments using erythrocytes proved the hemocompatible and biocompatible features of SA/AV/S scaffold. In vitro blood clotting assay performed using human blood demonstrated the haemostatic and blood absorption properties of SA/AV/S scaffold. Scratch wound assay was performed to study the wound healing efficacy of prepared scaffolds. Chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane assay carried out using fertilised embryos proved the angiogenic property of SA/AV/S scaffold. Thus, SA/AV/S scaffold could serve as a potential haemostatic healthcare product due to its outstanding haemostatic, antimicrobial, hemocompatible, biocompatible and angiogenic properties.

Background: Molecular detection is considered benchmark criteria for SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis. Both computer tomography (CT) chest imaging and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) can give false-negative test results in the initial state of coronavirus infection. This study aimed to assess the precision of computer tomography (CT) chest imaging and RTPCR assay and to compare the role of CT chest imaging and molecular testing (RTPCR) in the early detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Methods: Retrospective analysis of 588 clinically suspected coronavirus disease cases was performed over from April 2021 to June 2021. RTPCR test result was compared with chest computer tomography and diagnostic precision of computer tomography (CT) scan was determined using RTPCR as reference standard. Categorical variables were statistically analyzed as frequencies and percentages. Results: Out of 465 patients who tested positive by chest computer tomography (CT) scan findings, 132 (28.39%) tested RTPCR positive and 333 (71.61%) tested RTPCR negative. 306/465 (65.81%) cases showed moderate-to-severe infection and 159/465 (34.19%) had mild infection. Diagnostic precision of imaging chest computer tomography (CT) scan was observed to be 38.44%. Low sensitivity of RTPCR detection method in the early identification of coronavirus disease was observed. Conclusion: The use of computer tomography (CT) scan in the early detection of coronavirus disease is supplemental to RTPCR assay and is limited to the detection of laboratory-confirmed coronavirus disease cases as imaging characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia superimposed with other types of pneumonia.

Molecular docking simulations were conducted to analyze the interactions between eight lead molecules with AR and PSA proteins. The lead molecules included Enzalutamide, Abiraterone, Docetaxel, Apalutamide, Cabazitaxel, Bicalutamide, Curcumin, Galeterone, Resveratrol, and Darolutamide. For the Androgen Receptor (AR), Enzalutamide displayed the most favorable docking energy of -10.96Kcal/mol, followed by Galeterone (-10.52Kcal/mol) and Darolutamide (-9.97Kcal/mol). The binding affinities of these compounds to AR suggest potential inhibitors. On the other hand, resveratrol exhibited the strongest interaction with the AR protein (-8.02Kcal.mol) among the natural compounds studied (Resveratrol and Curcumin). In the case of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), Abiraterone showed a docking energy of -9.14 kcal/mol, indicating a potential interaction with PSA. The docking results suggest that Enzalutamide, Galeterone, and Darolutamide, hold promise as potential inhibitors for the Androgen Receptor in prostate cancer treatment. Abiraterone, Enzalutamide, Apalutamide ligands shown a significant interaction on Prostate Specific Antigen, hinting at its potential as a dual-target agent.

Abstract Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the major non-communicable disease causing increased mortality and morbidity worldwide. Among cardiovascular diseases, coronary artery disease is one of the life-threatening diseases. The majority of patients, after the acute event of coronary artery disease, suffer from mental stress, depression, and cognitive impairments. Therefore, this study mainly focuses on the effect of the Cognitive and Emotional Impairment Management Bundle (CEIMB) among patients with coronary artery disease. Methods: This randomized, controlled, double-blinded trial was conducted in a tertiary care center among patients with coronary artery disease. The samples were recruited from the coronary intensive care unit through purposive sampling technique. After the sample selection, they were allotted to control (n 1 = 55) and intervention (n 2 = 56) groups through block randomization. The intervention was provided through three sessions. The study was registered under the Clinical Trial registry of the country. The statistical analysis was done using the SPSS ver. 25. The analysis was done by mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, and two-way repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The mean age of the participants in the control group was 56.6 ± 6.1 years, and in the experimental group was 57.6 ± 6.4 years. The majority of the participants (39.3%) in the intervention group had severe depression, moderate levels of stress (30.4%), and medication adherence (96.4%). In the experimental group, depression, stress, medication adherence, and cognition had a statistically significant difference at different periods ( < 0.05). Conclusion: The impaired mental status and cognitive level of the patients after the cardiac event negatively influences the patient's prognosis, contributing to readmission and premature death.

The corrosion resistance Cr3C2-25%NiCr and Ni-20%Cr coatings were deposited on the alloy A-286 by high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) coating, and the high-temperature corrosion features were evaluated at 700 and 850°C in Na2SO4-5%NaCl-7.5%NaVO3 atmosphere. Deposited coatings are dense and well-adherent to the substrate. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) is used to analyze the structure of the corroded samples. Results showed that Cr3C2 -25%NiCr coating provides better resistance to corrosion at 700°C, which is attributed to the protective Cr2O3 development. The coated metal was exposed at 850°C, and a higher corrosion rate was observed compared to 700°C, indicating that the temperature influenced the oxidation rate. The coating failure (crack) was noticed on the Cr3C2-25%NiCr coated surface when exposed at 850°C, and no damages are in the Ni-20%Cr coating.

Abstract Brain-inspired resistive random-access memory (RRAM) technology is anticipated to outperform conventional flash memory technology due to its performance, high aerial density, low power consumption, and cost. For RRAM devices, metal oxides are exceedingly investigated as resistive switching (RS) materials. Among different oxides, tin oxide (SnOx) received minimal attention, although it possesses excellent electronic properties. Herein, we demonstrate compliance-free, analog resistive switching behavior with several stable states in Ti/Pt/SnOx/Pt RRAM devices. The compliance-free nature might be due to the high internal resistance of SnOx films. The resistance of the films was modulated by varying Ar/O2 ratio during the sputtering process. The I–V characteristics revealed a well-expressed high resistance state (HRS) and low resistance states (LRS) with bipolar memristive switching mechanism. By varying the pulse amplitude and width, different resistance states have been achieved, indicating the analog switching characteristics of the device. Furthermore, the devices show excellent retention for eleven states over 1000 s with an endurance of > 100 cycles.

Abstract The conventional practice of using sewage treatment plant (STP) derived sludge as a fertilizer poses significant negative impacts on agroecosystems. Since sludge has diverse contaminants, including heavy metals (HMs), antibiotics (ABs) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), its application in the agricultural fields contaminates the food and hence causes human health risks via the food chain. The transfer of ABs and ARGs from sludge to soil and then to plants can influence the development of antibiotic resistance (AR) in plant endophytes, and leads to variations in their characteristics. In a pot experiment, vegetable carrot (Daucus carota) and spinach (Spinacia oleracea) were amended with sludge samples from three sewage treatment plants (STPs) with varying treatment capacities and both above and below-ground parts of the plants were analysed for the presence of specific ABs (amoxicillin, azithromycin, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, tetracycline), ARGs (blaCTX-M, blaGES, blaNDM, ermF, qnrS, Sul1), and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) (intl1, IS26). Among the characterized culturable endophytic bacteria (EB), 22 exhibited resistance to various antibiotics (highest against ampicillin, ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol) and heavy metals (highest against lead, nickel, and chromium). Most importantly, seven multiple antibiotic-resistant endophytic bacteria (MAREB) exhibited resistance to all tested heavy metals (HMs). Additionally, all MAREB tested positive for biofilm production, and a notable proportion (72.72%) of these endophytes displayed mobility, with strong auto-aggregation ranging from 16.67 to 92.61%. The biofilm formation dynamics among these MAREB exhibited a Gaussian distribution pattern, increasing with higher antibiotic concentrations. Notably, five MAREB demonstrated survival at clarithromycin concentrations up to 150 µg ml−1. The study revealed the presence of ABs (µg kg−1) and ARGs (copies kg−1) in all parts of both vegetables, ranging from 2.87 to 314.88 and 1 × 105 to 3.2 × 1010, respectively. MAREB displayed various advantageous features to support plant growth under different stress conditions. Moreover, 51.09% of the identified EBs were reported as both plant and human-associated pathogens, and 9.09% were solely human pathogens. Transfer factor (TF), translocation factor (TLF), and bioconcentration factor (BCF) values were correlated with higher ABs and ARGs abundance in the root and shoot compartments of both vegetables. The risk assessment for ABs and ARGs highlighted children are particularly vulnerable to prolonged adverse health risks from consuming these vegetables. Therefore, this research is imperative for understanding the co-selection mechanisms, the need for improvement of the existing treatment systems in contaminants removal, and the evaluation of the presence of ABs and ARGs in sludge before its application in agricultural fields.

Introduction: Sleep is a fundamental necessity for the human body, particularly for ensuring optimal brain function, and health science students are predisposed to experiencing lower-quality sleep than the general population. Aim: To assess the knowledge, attitudes, and awareness of health science students regarding the influence of sleep quality on the brain. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study included male and female students from diverse Colleges at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, encompassing the College of Science and Health Professions, College of Medicine, College of Applied Medical Sciences, and College of Nursing. The study spanned one year, commencing in September 2022 and concluding in September 2023. It included 361 participants who completed a self-administered validated questionnaire. Participants were chosen through non probability consecutive sampling, and the questionnaire covered demographic characteristics, attitudes towards sleep quality, awareness of its importance, and knowledge of its impact on the brain. Abstract Background and objectives Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir was administered orally to manage mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19 in adult patients. The objectives of this study were to (i) evaluate the cost-effectiveness of prescribing nirmatrelvir/ritonavir within 5 days of a COVID-19 illness in order to avert hospitalization within a 30-day period in the Malaysia setting; (ii) determine how variations in pricing and hospitalization rates will affect the cost-effectiveness of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir. Methods The 30-day hospitalization related to COVID-19 was determined using 1 to 1 propensity score-matched real-world data in Malaysia from 14 July 2022 to 14 November 2022. To determine the total per-person costs related to COVID-19, we added the cost of drug (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir or control), clinic visits and inpatient care. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) per hospitalization averted was calculated. Results Our cohort included 31,487 patients. The rate of hospitalization within 30 days was found to be 0.35% for the group treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir, and 0.52% for the control group. The nirmatrelvir/ritonavir group cost an additional MYR 1,625.72 (USD 358.88) per patient. This treatment also resulted in a reduction of 0.17% risk for hospitalization, which corresponded to an ICER of MYR 946,801.26 (USD 209,006.90) per hospitalization averted. Conclusion In Malaysia, where vaccination rates were high, nirmatrelvir/ritonavir has been shown to be beneficial in the outpatient treatment of adults with COVID-19 who have risk factors; however, it was only marginally cost effective against hospitalization for healthy adults during the Omicron period.

Abstract Reduction of fossil fuel usage, clean energy supply, and dependability are all major benefits of integrating distributed energy resources (DER) with electrical utility grid (UG). Nevertheless, there are difficulties with this integration, most notably accidental islanding that puts worker and equipment safety at risk. Islanding detection methods (IDMs) play a critical role in resolving this problem. All IDMs are thoroughly evaluated in this work, which divides them into two categories: local approaches that rely on distributed generation (DG) side monitoring and remote approaches that make use of communication infrastructure. The study offers a comparative evaluation to help choose the most efficient and applicable IDM, supporting well-informed decision-making for the safe and dependable operation of distributed energy systems within electrical distribution networks. IDMs are evaluated based on NDZ outcomes, detection duration, power quality impact, multi-DG operation, suitability, X/R ratio reliance, and efficient functioning.

Background: Blood transfusions play a pivotal role in medical care, saving millions of lives annually. The timely provision of safe blood is critical in various clinical scenarios, necessitating a careful balance between supply and demand. Despite advanced blood banking facilities globally, challenges persist in ensuring appropriate blood component utilization, prompting a need for clinical audits and optimization strategies. Aims and Objectives: This study aims to analyze the patterns of blood product utilization in a tertiary care hospital in Madhya Pradesh over 1 year, focusing on transfusion requests, cross-match-to-transfusion (C/T) ratios, transfusion indices (TIs), and indications for transfusions. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at Shyam Shah Medical College from January 01, 2023, to December 31, 2023. Data from transfusion and cross-match requests in various departments were collected. C/T ratios, TI, and non-usage probability were computed to assess blood utilization efficiency. Results: Out of 16,682 cross-matched units, 71.93% were transfused. The overall C/T ratio was 1.39. The department of medicine demonstrated the most efficient blood usage with a C/T ratio of 1.16. Obstetrics and gynecology had the highest TI (1.06), while surgery had the lowest (0.71). Indications for transfusion included anemia (29.9%), pre-operative (17.2%), intraoperative (21.8%), and post-operative (31.1%). Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into blood utilization patterns, offering a foundation for refining transfusion practices and enhancing the efficiency of blood management in the studied tertiary care hospital.

In the present work, we perform a few shock-wave-processing experiments on typical ceramic materials of β-MnMoO4 (P2/c) by the exposure of 0, 100 and 200 shocks, respectively, and investigated their structural, optical and morphological features to materialize the effect of shock waves. Under shocked conditions, the title sample does not undergo any crystallographic phase transitions of either to α or to ω phases. However, several modifications are noticed in the mother phase such that the diffraction intensity ratio of (1-11)/(111) is found to have increased with respect to the number of shock pulses and the observed values are 0.85, 1.07 and 1.36 for the exposure of 0, 100, 200 shocks, respectively. Under the 200-shocked condition, the sample's intensity ratio is found to be closely matched to the standard pattern of the test sample with the P2/c space group. In morphological aspects, the control sample's wolframite structure has slight morphological deformations whereas the 200-shocked sample has an almost ideal morphology of the wolframite structure. Optical property results demonstrate a slight enhancement of the optical transmittance in the UV–Visible and NIR regions along with a blue shift at the 200-shocked condition. The above-mentioned analytical results reveal that the applied shock waves have effectively induced the thermal softening process, reducing the lattice and surface stresses on the test sample. A detailed discussion on the triangle relation of the structure-morphology-property of the control and shocked samples is provided.

In the current study, tannic acid-functionalized iron oxide nanoparticles have been synthesized using a cost-effective co-precipitation method and subsequently characterized using various instrumentation techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometer, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and thermal gravimetric analysis. Further, these surface-modified magnetite nanoparticles have been used for the adsorption of toluidine dye from an aqueous solution. The adsorption process was accompanied using batch procedure, and influences of several factors such as adsorbent dose, contact time, pH, temperature, and initial concentration of adsorbate were inspected concurrently. The maximum adsorption capacity of tannic acid-functionalized magnetite nanoparticles was found to be 50.68 mg/g. The adsorption process was observed to follow the Temkin isotherm model, whereas the kinetic study was well described by pseudo-second order. The thermodynamic study revealed the adsorption process to be endothermic and spontaneous in nature with a high degree of freedom between adsorbent and adsorbate. Abstract Brain tumor glioblastoma is a disease that is caused for a child who has abnormal cells in the brain, which is found using MRI “Magnetic Resonance Imaging” brain image using a powerful magnetic field, radio waves, and a computer to produce detailed images of the body's internal structures it is a standard diagnostic tool for a wide range of medical conditions, from detecting brain and spinal cord injuries to identifying tumors and also in evaluating joint problems. This is treatable, and by enabling the factor for happening, the factor for dissolving the dead tissues. If the brain tumor glioblastoma is untreated, the child will go to death; to avoid this, the child has to treat the brain problem using the scan of MRI images. Using the neural network, brain-related difficulties have to be resolved. It is identified to make the diagnosis of glioblastoma. This research deals with the techniques of max rationalizing and min rationalizing images, and the method of boosted division time attribute extraction has been involved in diagnosing glioblastoma. The process of maximum and min rationalization is used to recognize the Brain tumor glioblastoma in the brain images for treatment efficiency. The image segment is created for image recognition. The method of boosted division time attribute extraction is used in image recognition with the help of MRI for image extraction. The proposed boosted division time attribute extraction method helps to recognize the fetal images and find Brain tumor glioblastoma with feasible accuracy using image rationalization against the brain tumor glioblastoma diagnosis. The accuracy of the proposed TAE-PIS system is 98.12% which is higher when compared to other methods like Genetic algorithm, Convolution neural network, fuzzy-based minimum and maximum neural network and kernel-based support vector machine respectively. Experimental results show that the proposed method archives rate of 98.12% accuracy with low response time and compared with the Genetic algorithm (GA), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), fuzzy-based minimum and maximum neural network (Fuzzy min–max NN), and kernel-based support vector machine. Specifically, the proposed method achieves a substantial improvement of 80.82%, 82.13%, 85.61%, and 87.03% compared to GA, CNN, Fuzzy min–max NN, and kernel-based support vector machine, respectively.

The findings of this study underscore the significant impact of online reviews on consumer decision-making processes in the realm of vestment shopping. Participants consistently cited online reviews as influential factors in their purchasing decisions, with positive reviews exerting a particularly strong influence on their likelihood of making a purchase. Moreover, factors such as credibility, relevance, specificity, and sentiment of reviews emerged as critical determinants shaping consumer perceptions and preferences. Royal jelly (RJ), a secretion produced by honeybees, has garnered significant interest for its potential as a therapeutic intervention and functional food supplement. This systematic review aims to synthesize current research on the health benefits, bioactive components, and mechanisms of action of RJ. Comprehensive literature searches were conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, focusing on studies published from 2000 to 2024 (April). Findings indicate that RJ exhibits a wide range of pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-aging effects. Beneficial biological properties of RJ might be due to the presence of flavonoids proteins, peptides, fatty acids. Both preclinical and clinical studies have reported that RJ improves the immune function such as wound healing, and also decreases the severity of chronic diseases including diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. The molecular mechanisms underlying these effects involve modulation of signalling pathways such as NF-κB, MAPK, and AMPK. Despite promising results, the review identifies several gaps in the current knowledge, including the need for standardized dosing regimens and long-term safety assessments. Furthermore, variations in RJ composition due to geographic and botanical factors necessitate more rigorous quality control measures. This review underscores the potential of RJ as a multifunctional therapeutic agent and highlights the necessity for further well designed studies to fully elucidate its health benefits and optimize its use as a functional food supplement.

Accurate evapotranspiration (ET) assessment is crucial for agricultural water management, encompassing crop water requirements, irrigation scheduling, water budgeting and drought monitoring. This study integrates remote sensing-based surface energy balance model with in-situ ET measurements to evaluate surface energy fluxes and ET in Pantnagar, Tarai region. The Mapping Evapotranspiration at high Resolution with Internalized Calibration (METRIC) model, using high-resolution remote sensing data, was validated against observations from an ET station equipped with large aperture scintillometer and micrometeorological tower, situated in sugarcane farm at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUA&T), Pantnagar. On November 13, 2021, METRIC and Landsat-9 satellite data estimated an instantaneous ET of 7.39 mm day-1, closely aligned with the observed value of 6.72 mm day-1 recorded by the ET station. The findings confirm the METRIC model's high accuracy for spatial ET estimation and its associated micrometeorological variables. This study underscores the utility of the METRIC model, ET station and remote sensing in determining ET and energy flux which may be further utilised in the estimation of crop water requirement, energy fluxes and irrigation water management for sugarcane cultivation in the Tarai region.
