In this work, the two-scale asymptotic homogenization method (AHM) is developed to describe the effective behavior of multi-laminated elastic micropolar composites with Fibonacci and random structure under perfect contact conditions at the interfaces. The local problem statements over the periodic cell Y are presented, and the corresponding effective stiffness and torque properties are reported. The transversal cross-section of the periodic cell Y is characterized by a laminated structure where the pattern for the layers follows two distinct configurations: (a) a Fibonacci arrangement, and (b) a random sequence focused on the probabilistic binomial function. The non-null effective properties of multi-laminated Cosserat elastic composites with isotropic centro-symmetric constituents are listed. Numerical results for multi-laminated elastic micropolar composites with both types of structures and centro-symmetric isotropic constituents are illustrated and discussed. Unlike the conventional, embodied, and embrained whole-body movements in the sagittal forward and vertical axes, movements in the lateral/transversal axis cannot be unequivocally grounded, embodied, or embrained. When considering motor imagery for left and right directions, it is assumed that participants have underdeveloped representations due to a lack of familiarity with moving along the lateral axis. In the current study, a 32 electroencephalography (EEG) system was used to identify the oscillatory neural signature linked with lateral axis motor imagery. Following the experimental procedure, 36 healthy participants were instructed and trained to imagine moving left and right from a first-person perspective. On average, greater beta oscillatory activity in the parietal region was observed during right motor imagery compared to left motor imagery. Furthermore, lateral whole-body motion imagery is associated with the posterior multimodal somatosensory parietal areas, which showed significantly more prominent cortico-cortical interconnections when performing right than left motor imagery, as indicated by Phase-Locked Value (PLV) analysis. The findings suggest that the mental simulation of lateral movements, reflecting immature neurocognitive schemata, might engender non-grounded and non-embedded somatosensory and kinesthetic representations that would be associated with the lateralisation of the multimodal cortical vestibular network. The article reflects if it is possible to decolonize memory in the former Soviet republics that have been gradually moving centrifugally towards different political allegiances. It is needed to go beyond the postcolonial/post-Soviet national optic and consider inter-imperial (Doyle) and non-nation-state post-imperial (Burbank and Cooper) models and other unrealized alternatives. The article focuses on coloniality of memory critically engaging with various concepts including "dismembering" (Thiong'o), "mankurtism" (Aitmatov), "Myalism" (Brodber), "multidirectional memory" (Rothberg), "double critique" (Khatibi), "species memory" (Kaiser and Thiele), and the "third way" (Wynter). It sets the goal of tracing possible paths for rethinking of what it means to remember in a human way and what it takes to engender a global mnemonic transversal network of solidarity for refuturing. In this paper, a novel dual‐band wideband bandpass filter (BPF) based on transversal signal‐interaction concepts with a wide upper stopband is proposed and investigated. The designed specification of two passbands can be managed and satisfied based on the independent controllable fractional bandwidth of the two passbands and the centered frequencies. The centered frequencies of dual‐band BPF are, respectively, 0.79 GHz (ƒ1) and 1.24 GHz (ƒ2) with 3 dB fraction bandwidths of 26.54% and 11.3%. Two transmission paths consisting of coupled stub‐loaded square ring resonators and anti‐coupled shorted lines are used to realize signal cancellation of multiple transmission path signal transmission from Port 1 to Port 2. Eleven transmission zeros (TZs) modify harmonic suppression up to 10 ƒ1 with stopband rejection higher than 15 dB. Butterworth lumped notch network and step impedance resonator (SIR) are also utilized to improve the selectivity and harmonic suppression. A compact filter with a circuit size of 0.08λg × 0.08λg is implemented and tested. Good agreement between simulation and measured results verifies the reliability of the designing scheme. Automating decision systems has led to hidden biases in the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Consequently, explaining these decisions and identifying responsibilities has become a challenge. As a result, a new field of research on algorithmic fairness has emerged. In this area, detecting biases and mitigating them is essential to ensure fair and discrimination-free decisions. This paper contributes with: (1) a categorization of biases and how these are associated with different phases of an AI model's development (including the data-generation phase); (2) a revision of fairness metrics to audit the data and AI models trained with them (considering agnostic models when focusing on fairness); and, (3) a novel taxonomy of the procedures to mitigate biases in the different phases of an AI model's development (pre-processing, training, and post-processing) with the addition of transversal actions that help to produce fairer models. The eight papers in the Special Dossier for the Tricentenary of Immanuel Kant’s Birth (1724-1804) ‘Borders, Races, Gender and Labor in Kantian Philosophy’ reflect upon these issues and their presence in the Kantian legacy from a contemporary point of view. Other concepts and themes emerge as transversal threads linking these contributions, such as the feeling of respect, duties, rights, and the role that communities play or the ethical-juridical function of the social contract. Other philosophers and philosophical traditions take part in the discussions, such as Rousseau, Fichte, Hegel, Derrida, Foucault, Hannah Arendt, or Susan Moller Okin. The Pacific hake Merluccius productus is a commercially important species on the west coast of North America. A non-exploited population south of the Baja California Peninsula known as dwarf hake, from which little is known, has been described. The present study analyzed the age and growth of the dwarf hake off the west coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico. A subsample of 240 otoliths and standard length (SL) data from 932 specimens captured from May to December 2015 was used. The annual formation of increments in otoliths was verified by marginal increment ratio and edge analysis. Age was estimated from transversal sectioned otolith annuli counts, and SL growth was analyzed using a multimodel inference approach. The von Bertalanffy growth model (VBGM), generalized VBGM, Gompertz, logistic, and Johnson growth models were fitted to observed and back-calculated length-at-age data sets grouped by sex. SL records ranged from 11.5 to 27.5 cm, where females reached a larger size and older ages than males. The age structure was well represented for the first six years, with a mode at three years age class and maximum longevity registered in a female of 10 years. According to Akaike's information criterion, the generalized VBGM was most appropriate for females (L∞ = 31.36 cm, k = 0.15), while VBGM provided the best fit for males (L∞ = 25.35 cm, k = 0.28 cm yr-1). The parameter values suggest that the dwarf hake is a fast-growing, small-size fish. These results provide the first estimated growth parameters for the dwarf hake off the southernmost limit of the Baja California Peninsula. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In finite element models (FEMs), two- or three-dimensional Representative Volume Elements (RVEs) based on a statistical distribution of particles in a matrix can predict mechanical material properties. This article studies an alternative to 3D RVEs with a 2.5D RVE approach defined by a one-plane layer of 3D elements to model the material behavior. This 2.5D RVE relies on springs applied in the out-of-plane direction to constrain the two lateral deformations to be compatible, with the goal of achieving the isotropy of the studied material. The method is experimentally validated by the prediction of the tensile stress–strain curve of a bi-phasic microstructure of the AlSi10Mg alloy. Produced by additive manufacturing, the sample material becomes isotropic after friction stir processing post treatment. If a classical plane strain 2D RVE simulation is clearly too stiff compared to the experiment, the predictions of the stress–strain curves based on 2.5D RVE, 2D RVE with no transversal constraint (called 2D free RVE), and 3D RVE simulations are close to the experiments. The local stress fields within a 2.5D RVE present an interesting similarity with 3D RVE local fields, but differences with the 2D free RVE local results. Since a 2.5D RVE simplifies one spatial dimension, the simulations with this model are faster than the 3D RVE (factor 2580 in CPU or taking into account an optimal parallel computation, a factor 417 in real time). Such a discrepancy can affect the FEM2 multi-scale simulations or the time required to train a neural network, enhancing the interest in a 2.5D RVE model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Inner Northern Apennines (Italy) are a region with a dominant N-S to NNW-SSE fault system, but dissected and offset by several E-W to NE-SW trending structures and lineaments. The knowledge about the nature of these transverse structures, their origin, activity and role in current tectonic motions is limited and debated. To better establish the location, subsurface shape, and kinematics of faults related to the Livorno-Empoli lineament, one of the major transverse structures in the Northern Apennines, we analysed the seismicity in western Tuscany. In the Viareggio Basin we identified and relocated two distinct earthquake clusters as well as calculated 12 new focal mechanisms. The results show that the clusters consisted of several swarms from the years 2006, 2015, 2016 and 2021. The events had a depth between 2 and 15 km and were located along a NE-SW oriented, SE dipping fault system dissecting the Viareggio Basin. Focal mechanisms show oblique normal slip. We interpret the fault system to form a connection between the Viareggio Basin and the Lucca Basin to the east as well as continuing offshore. The results show that the transversal faults of the Inner Northern Apennines are seismogenic, with the length, position and onshore to offshore nature of the fault suggesting reactivation of pre-existing structures. Informal land and building occupations form a significant part of Southern urbanism, emerging as central features of city--making in places defined by colonial histories and dispossession. They transgress normalised property and legal regimes and thereby open the possibility for alternative relations connected to shared practices of use and being in common. Drawing on long-term engaged research in Bogotá, Colombia and Cape Town, South Africa, this paper traces the origins and dynamic trajectories of two occupations, paying particular attention to the ways occupiers engage state logics transversally to assemble material infrastructures and advance citizenship claims. In comparing these situated practices relationally, we identify three modalities of transversal engagement that shape their presents and futures: 1) direct co-design; 2) aspirational co-design, and 3) anticipatory counter-design. Whilst the potentiality and outcomes of these are uncertain, we argue they are important contributors to contesting racialised regimes of dispossession and reimagining more just and equitable urban futures. In this work, we revise the concept of foliation and related aspects that are crucial when formulating the Hamiltonian evolution for various theories beyond General Relativity. In particular, we show the relation between the kinematic characteristics of timelike congruences (observers) and the existence of foliations orthogonal to them. We then explore how local Lorentz transformations acting on observers affect the existence of transversal foliations, provide examples, and discuss the implications of these results for the 3 + 1 formulation of tetrad modified theories of gravity. In situations where every item in a data set must be compared with every other item in the set, it may be desirable to store the data across a number of machines in such a way that any two data items are stored together on at least one machine. One way to evaluate the efficiency of such a distribution is by the largest fraction of the data it requires to be allocated to any one machine. The all-to-all comparison (ATAC) data limit formmachines is a measure of the minimum of this value across all possible such distributions. In this paper we further the study of ATAC data limits. We begin by investigating the data limits achievable using various classes of combinatorial designs. In particular, we examine the cases of transversal designs and projective Hjelmslev planes. We then observe relationships between data limits and the previously studied combinatorial parameters of fractional matching numbers and covering numbers. Finally, we prove a lower bound on the ATAC data limit that improves on one of Hall, Kelly and Tian, and examine the special cases where equality in this bound is possible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A perfect directed code (or an efficient twin domination) of a digraph is a vertex subset where every other vertex in the digraph has a unique in- and a unique out-neighbor in the subset. In this paper, we show that a digraph covers a complete digraph if and only if the vertex set of this digraph can be partitioned into perfect directed codes. Equivalent conditions for subsets in Cayley digraphs to be perfect directed codes are given. Especially, equivalent conditions for normal subsets, normal subgroups, and subgroups to be perfect directed codes in Cayley digraphs are given. This paper studies the effect of the dimple cross-sectional profile on the behavior of gas parallel slider bearings using the numerical method. The numerical method is performed in MATLAB software. The influence of geometrical parameters of dimples on the dimensionless average pressure is studied for different dimple cross-sectional profiles. The geometrical parameters of dimples include dimple depth, dimple area density, transversal textured ratio, and longitudinal textured ratio. It is found that the hydrodynamic lubrication of dimple-textured gas parallel slider bearings is controlled by the dimple depth, dimple area density, transversal textured ratio, longitudinal textured ratio, and dimple cross-sectional profile. Furthermore, the impact of sliding speed on the hydrodynamic lubrication is studied for different dimple cross-sectional profiles. The results indicate that the optimum sliding speed for maximizing the hydrodynamic pressure is controlled by the dimple cross-sectional profile. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Emerging evidence suggests that retinal neurodegeneration is an early event in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy (DR), preceding the development of microvascular abnormalities. Here, we assessed the impact of neuroinflammation on the retina of diabetic-induced rats. For this aim we have used a two-photon microscope to image the photoreceptors (PRs) at different eccentricities in unstained retinas obtained from both control (N = 4) and pathological rats (N = 4). This technique provides high-resolution images where individual PRs can be identified. Within each image, every PR was located, and its transversal area was measured and used as an objective parameter of neuroinflammation. In control samples, the size of the PRs hardly changed with retinal eccentricity. On the opposite end, diabetic retinas presented larger PR transversal sections. The ratio of PRs suffering from neuroinflammation was not uniform across the retina. Moreover, the maximum anatomical resolving power (in cycles/deg) was also calculated. This presents a double-slope pattern (from the central retina towards the periphery) in both types of specimens, although the values for diabetic retinas were significantly lower across all retinal locations. The results show that chronic retinal inflammation due to diabetes leads to an increase in PR transversal size. These changes are not uniform and depend on the retinal location. Introduction: While there is agreement on the positive link between psychological resilience and athletic performance, conclusive findings regarding the association between psychological resilience and other variables of interest (for example, age, gender, type of sport, or competitive level) remain elusive. Objective: The study aimed to assess psychological resilience levels among judokas and explore potential associations with demographic factors, judo experience and competitive level. Methods: A total of 702 judokas (469 men and 233 women) participated in the study, of whom 194 (27.6%) were classified as TOP by their competitive level. Psychological resilience was evaluated using the Spanish version of the 10 item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC 10), with a score range from 0 to 40. Independent T-test and Pearson's coefficient were used for bivariate analysis. A two-way non-parametric ANCOVA was carried out to analyse the impact of gender and competitive level on psychological resilience. Results: The judokas showed total mean scores in the CD-RISC 10 of 33.08 points (SD = 4.79), considered high. Levels of psychological resilience were significantly higher among men (33.36 ± 4.76) than women (32.53 ± 4.80) and were positively correlated with age and number of years practicing and competing in Judo (p = 0.019). Judokas with a higher competitive level (TOP judokas) showed significantly higher levels of resilience than the others (non-TOP judokas) (p < 0.001). These differences in resilience according to competitive level persisted, among both men and women, when adjusting the model of analysis (two-way ANCOVA) for all variables considered in the study, although with a small effect size. Conclusion: The results suggest that the practice of Judo, especially over long periods of time, is associated with high scores in psychological resilience. Furthermore, psychological resilience appears to be a differentiating variable among judokas at a high-competitive level, and its evaluation and development using different strategies based on age and gender should be considered by trainers and psychologists. This problem and its variations—such as the k-fold clique, { k } -clique, minus clique, and signed clique transversal problems—have received significant interest due to their theoretical importance and practical applications. This paper examines the k-fold clique, { k } -clique, minus clique, and signed clique transversal problems on distance-hereditary graphs. Known for their distinctive structural properties, distance hereditary graphs provide an ideal framework for studying these problem variants. By exploring these issues in the context of distance-hereditary graphs, this research enhances the understanding of the computational challenges and the potential for developing efficient algorithms to address these problems. This study examines the convergence of sustainability competencies in Spanish university curricula. The objective is to analyse and contrast opinions among university teaching staff and students from different fields of study in relation to the presence of competencies and curricular improvements concerning sustainability. The procedure comprised two surveys applied to professors (n2 = 70) and students (n3 = 698). The instrument employed was the Register for Evaluating Curricular Sustainability at the University (RECSU), which permits the collation of data pertaining to sustainability-related transversal competencies, including sustainability values, the use of sustainable methodology in the classroom, the Sustainable Development Goals, and principles of action. In its entirety, this study's approach uses a mixed QUAN (qual) QUAL design. The results indicate which sustainability-aligned competencies and teaching practices are the most and least utilised by teaching staff, as well as which competencies present the greatest opportunity for improvement from the perspective of teaching staff. The findings highlight the relevance of empowering new generations through the development of transversal competencies in university studies. C1-C2 fixation has been developed for the rigid fusion of atlantoaxial instability. C1 lateral mass screw (C1 LMS)-C2 pedicle screw fixation is used more frequently due to its rigid fixation and high bone fusion rate. However, C1 screw placement is relatively unsafe even with recently developed image-based navigation systems. Patient-specific screw guide templates (PSGT) were developed to improve the accuracy and safety of C1 screw placement. Herein, we investigated the outcomes of the C1-C2 posterior fixation technique using PSGT. This was a retrospective study of six patients who underwent posterior cervical spinal fusion using the PSGT between January 2022 and April 2023. Operative time, estimated blood loss, intraoperative radiation dose, surgical cost, and screw placement accuracy were evaluated and compared with those achieved with preoperative CT-based navigation (navigation group, n = 15). Screw accuracy was assessed using Neo's classification. PSGT showed good results, although the differences were not statistically significant (operation time: 104.3 ± 9.7 min vs 116.4 ± 20.8 min; estimated blood loss: 56.7 ± 72.4 mL vs 123.2 ± 162.3 mL; and radiation dose: 1.8 ± 1.2 mSv vs 2.6 ± 0.8 mSv, respectively). PSGT was particularly better in terms of the accuracy of C1 LMS (PSGT: 100%, navigation: 83.3%). The deviation at the entry point was minimal, and the difference between the sagittal and transversal angles from the preoperative plan was small. We investigated the clinical efficacy of using the PSGT for C1-C2 posterior fixation. PSGT improved the accuracy of C1 LMS insertion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gear chamfering is a significant machining process to improve the work performance of gear transmission like smoothness, low noise, and endurance. However, manufacturing uniform distributed transversal profile chamfer is still a challenge for traditional methods, particularly with considering the machining efficiency and economics. This work developed a generating machining-based chamfering method for cylindrical gears which can be integrated with the gear hobbing machining process. Firstly, the basic mathematic model of gear transversal profile chamfering including the geometry of cutter, gear chamfer, and installation are established with referring gear hobbing. Then, both the forward problem that identifies cutting edge by gear chamfer structure and the reverse problem that simulates transversal machined profile are studied. In this basis, the key interference-free cutter design is performed in three steps, i.e., modeling the cutting edge design as an optimal problem to obtain symmetric machined profile on gear end face, figuring out the lead of cutting edge by align the tooth flank to the swept surface of chamfer edge, and identifying interference or not through discrete section curves. The curatorial work of Professor Anna Maria Guasch in the exhibition The memory of the other in the era of the global is rooted in her academic and research career. This exhibition, which toured Bogotá, Santiago de Chile and Havana between 2009 and 2011, reflects the approaches of this author with respect to some of her topics of interest, such as interculturality and the impact of globalization on contemporary art. The proposal is framed in a genealogy of "identity exhibitions", that begun in 2002 with the curatorship of Okwui Enwezor for Documenta 11 in Kassel, which has been reviewed by the curator herself in her theoretical works and publications. The careful list of artists was expanded with each roaming. Professor Guasch considers the selected projects as "memory repositories" and observes transversal features in them, such as their approach to translation and mediation processes with respect to the contemporary infosphere. In this way, the set proposes a specific planetary geography of places and moments in which dialogues occur between the local and the global, generating a more dynamic understanding of identity narratives under the prism of interculturality. This research article, based on newspaper sources and starting from a historical-social perspective, focuses on the socio-political analysis of cycling in Castile, understood as the region comprising Old Castile and New Castile. The introduction of new sports, which paved the way for cycling, occurred under different criteria in each territory of Spain during the Restoration and the Second Republic. Castile, given its late industrialisation, followed its own path, describing an axis of interior-exterior development, a transversal genesis in terms of ideology, and a highly differentiated dual evolution. In this paper we consider affine ruled submanifolds of arbitrary dimension and codimension in the classical sense, i.e. curve based ones. For such a submanifold we define the natural parameterization and the natural transversal distribution. We calculate all the affine characteristics for such an affine immersion. We find conditions on the base curve and the directions of the rectilinear generators such that the induced connection is flat and the natural transversal distribution is equiaffine. The National Curricular Guidelines for legal courses brought, to the professional training of jurist, the ability to develop a culture of dialogue and the use of self-composition in dealing with conflicts. However, the incorporation of consensual practices in legal education occurs timidly. This research aims to defend the transversal approach of consensual forms of conflict treatment in legal education. Specifically, we sought to understand the relevance of transversal education for the training of students; analyze changes in national curricular policies related to consensual means of conflict management; and identify the pedagogical potential for approaching consensual forms of conflict treatment in a transversal way. The research is bibliographic in nature, with a deductive theoretical method and exploratory nature. It is concluded that the transversality of consensual practices in legal education is possible, with the use of teaching methodologies developed in a continuous, systematic and appropriate way to social demands. Despite its pre-1968 epistemic ground receding further into history, vanguardism persists as an ecopolitical position, its hubris continuing to have a divisive effect on those agonistic collective strategies otherwise required to confront and surround neoliberal configurations - which themselves involve advanced mechanisms of corporate collaboration. Accordingly, in support of transversal ecopolitics, in what follows, contemporary ecopolitical vanguardism's historical-discursive bases in Murray Bookchin's social ecology and Joel Kovel's ecosocialism will be critically engaged with through archaeological and deconstructive means, and vis-à-vis deep ecology and ecofeminism that emerged alongside these two movements, but which remain orientated around the transversalism of a post-1968 episteme. In this regard, while Foucauldian and Derridean approaches will inform the ensuing discussion, Laclau and Mouffe's conception of radical democracy - as the extension of chains of equivalence between struggles to facilitate the formation of a left-wing hegemony based on dialogical engagement - will also comprise a key theoretical coordinate. The development of transversal competencies, in interaction with professional competencies, is essential for individuals to adapt to change and live meaningful and productive lives. The aim of this study was to explore the mutual interaction of six transversal competencies—civic, digital, entrepreneurial, global, innovation, and research, as well as their respective sub-competencies—and propose possible approaches to how this dynamic of interaction can be applied to facilitate the development of transversal competencies. A sample of students (N = 1575) from 21 universities in Latvia completed a self-assessment survey evaluating multiple behavioural indicators for each transversal competence and sub-competence. The results revealed that civic competence was evaluated significantly lower than other competencies, and, for most transversal competencies, sub-competencies associated with active and systematic collaboration and networking received lower evaluations. A network analysis showed that the community involvement sub-competence of the civic competence and the initiative and critical thinking sub-competencies of the innovation competence had the strongest links to the other measured sub-competencies on average. The results suggest that the development of initiative and cooperation-and-collaboration-related and network-building skills are likely to have a systematic positive effect on the development of a wider set of transversal competencies and the professional autonomy of students in the long term. Dynamics modeling and analysis of a rotating piezoelectric laminated beam (RPLB) considering the effect of the setting angle is presented in this paper. The rotating piezoelectric energy harvester can be simplified as a RPLB which is fixed at a rotating hub. It is easy to know that a steady transversal deformation would be produced due to the transversal component of centrifugal force when the beam is not along the radial direction (the setting angle is not equal to 0° or 180°). However, the variation of steady transversal deformation and its effect were rarely considered by existing theoretical models about the rotating harvesters. To this end, a novel nonlinear dynamics model of the RPLB is developed by the combination of floating frame reference (FFR) and absolute nodal coordinate formulation. In the model, the position coordinates and gradients on the FFR are used as the nodal coordinates to describe deformation field. The enthalpy, elastic and kinetic energies of the RPLB are derived with consideration of the piezoelectric constitutive equation and the rotation of the FFR. Thus, the dynamics equations of the RPLB can be developed by using the Lagrange's equations of second kind. The results obtained from the model show agreement with those obtained from the previous literatures, which verifies the correctness of the model. Several examples are presented to analyze the effects of rotating speed, setting angle and tip mass on steady transversal deformation, output voltage and modal characteristics. • A novel nonlinear dynamics model of RPLB is developed to benefit the design of piezoelectric energy harvesters. • Steady deformation caused by transversal component of centrifugal force and its effects are investigated and analyzed. • Variations of the dynamic stiffening / softening of RPLB with setting angle and its reason are discussed. • Tensile strains and compression strains respectively lead to dynamic stiffening and softening. This paper explores the computational challenges of clique transversal problems in d-degenerate graphs, which are commonly encountered across theoretical computer science and various network applications. We examine d-degenerate graphs to highlight their utility in representing sparse structures and assess several variations of clique transversal problems, including the b-fold and { b } -clique transversal problems, focusing on their computational complexities for different graph categories. Our analysis identifies that certain instances of these problems are polynomial-time solvable in specific graph classes, such as 1-degenerate or 2-degenerate graphs. However, for d-degenerate graphs where d ≥ 2 , these problems generally escalate to NP-completeness. The study of a Gaussian laser beam interacting with an optical prism, both through reflection and transmission, provides a technical tool to examine deviations from the optical path as dictated by geometric optics principles. These deviations encompass alterations in the reflection and refraction angles, as predicted by the reflection and Snell laws, along with lateral displacements in the case of total internal reflection. The analysis of the angular distributions of both the reflected and transmitted beams allows us to understand the underlying causes of these deviations and displacements, and it aids in formulating analytic expressions that are capable of characterizing these optical phenomena. The study also extends to the examination of transverse symmetry breaking, which is a phenomenon observed in the laser beam as it traverses the oblique interface of the prism. It is essential to underscore that this analytical overview does not strive to function as an exhaustive literature review of these optical phenomena. Instead, its primary objective is to provide a comprehensive and self-referential treatment, as well as give universal analytical formulas intended to facilitate experimental validations or applications in various technological contexts. The digital revolution has driven a profound transformation in the media landscape and has shaken advertising media planning to its roots. In this context, this paper makes three contributions. First, by analysing investment data, it confirms the importance that advertising media planning maintains in the digital age. Secondly, it details the most important changes that digitalization and the proliferation of media have produced in advertising and, specifically, in media planning. Finally, it argues the necessary integration of strategy, creativity and media planning in the process of creating and executing an advertising campaign. Maintaining desired subgrade performance is an effective way to reduce runway pavement deterioration. Due to lack of extensive field test data, life-cycle performance of runway subgrade has not been fully understood. In order to quantitatively estimate subgrade condition, a novel method of evaluating subgrade performance was developed and validated using the 726 sets of Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) test data of ten runway sections. Statistical analysis demonstrates that the structural behaviour of rigid runway subgrade follows normal distribution in different service stages and can be efficiently evaluated by the subgrade performance index (ψ). The results of factor analysis show that Accumulated Air Traffic Volume (ATV) during service life is the major cause of spatial variations in subgrade condition. In the designed service period of runway, it validates that sea-reclaimed subgrade results in faster degradation in the initial stage of service life while thicker pavement exhibits better capability in protecting the subgrade soil in long-term view. Besides, the differences in applied loads and pavement thickness give rise to the subgrade performance variation in longitudinal direction. Meanwhile, the comparison between the main and the less trafficked test lines in transversal direction reveals that the aircraft impacts play a positive role in resisting the natural fatigue process. By the suggested method, subgrade performance of HWD test points can be categorized into 4 levels from “Excellent”, “Good”, “Fair” to “Poor” based on ψ value. It is helpful for airport agency to make scientific decisions on Maintenance and Rehabilitation (M&R) treatment by calculating the effective area of envelope (β) using the ratio of subgrade performance (η). This project introduces a pedagogical framework to raise awareness of ecological, social, and urban issues through the immersive exploration of urban soundscapes. Building on a methodology combining acoustic and psychoacoustic measurements with questionnaires [11], learners are immersed in a sound environment through binaural recordings and 3D renderings. They analyze physical and perceptual data, comparing objective measures with subjective feelings. This experimental and sensitive approach awakens engaged listening in the face of societal challenges. It develops transversal skills and qualities of attention to the environment.
