Purpose: Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is the most common thyroid malignancy, characterized by its slow progression and favorable prognosis. This study re-evaluates the efficacy of radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy versus no RAI in low-risk PTC patients following total thyroidectomy. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 588 patients treated between 2010 and 2016 at a major tertiary center in Turkey. Patients were divided into two cohorts: those receiving total thyroidectomy (TT) with high-dose RAI (100 mCi) and those receiving TT alone. A matched cohort of 138 patients per group was analyzed to minimize bias. Results: Follow-up data indicated that at 24 months, the RAI group demonstrated a higher percentage of excellent treatment responses (86%) compared to the non-RAI group (74%). Long-term follow-up showed that 99.3% of the RAI group achieved no evidence of disease (NED), versus 90.6% in the non-RAI group. Recurrence rates were significantly lower in the RAI group (1%) compared to the non-RAI group (5.8% with a > 2.0 ng/ml cut-off for biological events). Conclusion: In summary, the findings from this study underscore the efficacy of RAI therapy in reducing recurrence rates and enhancing long-term disease control in low-risk papillary thyroid cancer patients. While total thyroidectomy alone is effective, the addition of RAI therapy provides a marked improvement in treatment responses and reduces the risk of disease recurrence. This study examined the mediating effect of resilience and academic self-efficacy (psychological resources) in the relationship between social support and uncertainty of COVID-19. We recruited 607 Turkish undergraduate students (68% females) with a mean age of 21.71 years (SD = 3.18). Results showed that perceived social support positively predicted resilience and academic self-efficacy, while social support, resilience, and academic self- efficacy negatively predicted uncertainty of COVID-19. Findings highlight the significance of investing in social support resources for orchestrating gains in psychological resources, which may then support one another to act collectively to assuage the uncertainty of COVID-19. Background: The quality and safety of information provided on online platforms for migraine treatment remains uncertain. We evaluated the top 10 trending websites accessed annually by Turkish patients seeking solutions for migraine treatment and assessed information quality, security, and readability in this cross-sectional study. Methods: A comprehensive search strategy was conducted using Google starting in 2015, considering Türkiye's internet usage trends. Websites were evaluated using the DISCERN measurement tool and Ateşman Turkish readability index. Results: Ninety websites were evaluated between 2015 and 2024. According to the DISCERN measurement tool, most websites exhibited low quality and security levels. Readability analysis showed that half of the websites were understandable by readers with 9th − 10th grade educational levels. The author distribution varied, with neurologists being the most common. A significant proportion of the websites were for profit. Treatment of attacks and preventive measures were frequently mentioned, but some important treatments, such as greater occipital nerve blockade, were rarely discussed. Conclusion: This study highlights the low quality and reliability of online information websites on migraine treatment in Türkiye. These websites' readability level remains a concern, potentially hindering patients' access to accurate information. This can be a barrier to migraine care for both patients with migraine and the physician. Background: Unmet healthcare needs are a complex and multifaceted issue, influenced by individual, socioeconomic, and healthcare system factors. This study aimed to investigate the determinants influencing cost-related unmet healthcare needs within the Turkish population, emphasizing a comprehensive analysis of gender disparities in accessing healthcare services. Methods: This secondary analysis scrutinizes the 2019 Turkiye Health Survey data of 16,976 individuals aged 15 and older. The dependent variables included cost-related unmet medical, dental, and prescribed medication, and mental services. The independent variables were considered under a three-domain approach for the determination of health service utilization, developed by Andersen. Logistic regression models with predisposing, enabling, and need factors were run for any self-perceived cost-related unmet need for each sex and overall population. Another six regression models for both sexes were run for each subgroup of indivuals with unmet healthcare needs. Results: The study revealed that 15.4% of individuals cannot access healthcare due to financial constraints, with 16.8% for women and 13.5% for men. The highest level of unmet needs is associated with accessing dental care services for both sexes. According to multivariate analyses, the unmet need for both sexes decreases with older age and higher education level, and it is greater for those who have difficulties communicating in Turkish. By adding enabling and needs factors, the odds ratios of education decreased for men, while education became nonsignificant for women. Having chronic disease impacts unmet needs for both sexes. However, the inability to perform daily activities due to health problems was not a significant factor for men. Poorer household income increases overall unmet needs. Education is a determinant of both medical and mental care needs. Conclusions: This pioneering study illuminates the multifaceted gender disparities in cost-related unmet healthcare needs across Turkiye, reflecting the intertwined issues of access influenced by a complex interplay of factors. Cancer is a deadly disease that affects millions of people worldwide and is a source of great difficulty, stress, and trauma not only for patients but also for their caregivers. The physical and emotional suffering that patients experience by patients can lead their caregivers to cope with constant anxiety, sadness, and uncertainty. Moreover, during the cancer treatment process, caregivers must make a great effort to meet the needs of patients and support them. This situation may negatively affect the quality of life and psychological health of cancer patients' caregivers and may lead them to experience trauma. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to examine posttraumatic growth's relationship with age, the transformative power of suffering, and hope in family caregivers of cancer patients. Participants consisted of 314 Turkish family caregivers of cancer patients (73.2% women; Mage = 39.89 years) selected by using convenience sampling method. Participants answered a data collection tool consisting of a demographic information form, the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Trait Hope Scale, and Transformative Power of Suffering Scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient analysis, simple mediation analysis, and moderated mediation analysis. The results of this study revealed that hope mediated the association between the transformative power of suffering and posttraumatic growth in family caregivers of cancer patients, whereas age moderated this relationship. Psychosocial support programs for cancer caregivers could benefit from incorporating interventions that explore the transformative potential of suffering and cultivate hope. Tailoring these interventions to address the specific needs of different age groups may enhance their effectiveness. Purpose: To compare the oncological outcomes of clear cell RCC (ccRCC), which is common in renal cell carcinomas (RCC), and chromophobic RCC (chRCC), which is less common, and to define the factors affecting survival in the Turkish patient population for both RCC subclassifications. Materials and Methods: Patients with a pathologically confirmed RCC diagnosis after radical or partial nephrectomy in the Turkish Urooncology Association (TUOA), Urological Cancers Database-Kidney (UroCaD-K), were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with ccRCC and chRCC were included in the study. The primary outcomes of this study are recurrence-free survival (RFS), overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) for each histological subtype. Results: Data from 5300 patients in the TUOA UroCaD-K are reviewed and a total of 2560 patients (2225 in the ccRCC group and 335 in the chRCC group) are included in the final analysis. In the comparison of the groups, tumor size was greater both radiologically and pathologically in chRCC (p = 0.019 vs 0.002 respectively). Recurrence-free survival (RFS), overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) rates are worse in ccRCC subgroup. In the evaluation of risk factors; pathological stage, local invasion and Fuhrmann grade were found to be significant for recurrence in ccRCC. Age, body mass index and pathological stage were the risk factors affecting overall mortality (OM). Pathological tumor size was an independent risk factor for recurrence in chRCC, while age was analyzed as the only parameter affecting OM. At the onset of the First World War, the Ottoman Empire declared armed mobilisation and implemented measures to defend its territories, considering the warring parties. The process of armed mobilisation, which began in August 1914, was subject to various discussions, with some sources highlighting inadequacies in the studies carried out. Setting aside these discussions, it is evident that the Ottoman Empire took necessary measures to safeguard its borders and coasts. This study examines the Ottoman Empire's defence of the Gulf of Izmir during and after the armed mobilisation process. This text discusses all stages of the Izmir Gulf Defence, which occurred simultaneously with the Gallipoli Campaign. The discussion is based on sources related to the subject, particularly archive documents. The study evaluates details not included in the literature from archive documents. The fate of Izmir and Çanakkale was intertwined, beginning with the bombardment of the Seddülbahir region of Çanakkale and the counterattack on Izmir in November 1914. Objective: The aim of our study was to determine the psychometric evaluation of the Maternal Attitudes Questionnaire (MAQ) in the Turkish population by adapting it to Turkish. Methods: State and Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale (DAS), the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), and MAQ were used in data collection. The research sample comprised 359 women in the perinatal period. To evaluate test–retest reliability, MAQ was administered to 20 participants again after 4 weeks. Results: Four items with item–total–item correlations below 0.3 were removed from the questionnaire, and analysis was continued on 10 items. In the factor analysis, a two-factor structure was obtained, explaining 45.59% of the variance. The Cronbach α coefficient of the questionnaire in our sample was found as 0.664. For test–retest reliability, the Pearson correlation coefficient was found as 0.804 after a 4-week period. Maternal Attitudes Questionnaire correlated significantly with EPDS, STAI, and DAS. Conclusion: According to the results of our study, the Turkish version of the MAQ is a valid and reliable measurement tool in the perinatal period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by heterogeneous clinical presentation and the presence of various autoantibodies. This study aimed to determine the differences in clinical findings according to antibody positivity in patients with primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS) in the Turkish population. A retrospective study was conducted and 402 patients (378 women and 24 men) with pSS were analyzed. The patients were categorized into three subgroups based on serological tests. These were (1) quadruple seropositivity (positive for anti-Sjögren's syndrome-related antigen A antibodies (anti-SSA; anti-Ro) and anti-Sjögren's syndrome-related antigen B antibodies (anti-SSB; anti-La), rheumatoid factor (RF), and antinuclear antibody (ANA); (2) double seropositivity (positive for ANA and anti-SSA/Ro antibodies); and (3) quadruple seronegativity (negative for ANA, RF, anti-SSA/Ro and anti-SSB/La antibodies). The number of quadruple-seropositive patients was 72 (18.6%), double-seropositive 174 (43.2%), and quadruple-seronegative was 85 (21.1%). The age at diagnosis of quadruple-seropositive pSS was 42.4 ± 10.8, which was significantly younger than that of patients with double-seropositive and quadruple-seronegative pSS (p = 0.021, p = 0.112). In terms of organ involvement, salivary gland enlargement, arthralgia, arthritis, Raynaud's phenomenon, lymphadenopathy, cutaneous vasculitis, interstitial lung disease, neurological involvement, autoimmune thyroiditis, renal interstitial disease, anemia, leukopenia, hypergammaglobulinemia, and hypocomplementemia were more common in quadruple-seropositive patients with pSS than in quadruple-seronegative patients (p < 0.0001). The results of this study confirmed the strong impact of immunological markers on the pSS phenotype at the time of diagnosis. Immunological patterns play a central role in the phenotypic expression of the disease, even during the initial diagnostic phase, and can guide physicians in designing personalized treatment plans for patients with pSS. Background: In our study, we aimed to compare the Friedewald, Martin/Hopkins, and Sampson formulae with direct LDL-cholesterol (d-LDL-C) measurement. Methods: The study was a retrospective investigation by the Department of Medical Biochemistry of the Ankara Training and Research Hospital between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022. Our study evaluated the results of 6297 patients aged 18–95 years who underwent cholesterol panel TC, TG, HDL-C, and direct LDL-C in our laboratory. The estimated LDL-C was calculated according to Friedewald, Martin/Hopkins, and Sampson formulae. Results: All three formulae showed a stronger positive correlation with d-LDL-C (0.905, 0.897, and 0.886, respectively, for all data, p<0.001). In addition, when we compared the total median difference (1st–3rd quartile) of all formulae, it was -0.69 (-1.62 to 0.39) for Friedewald, 0.034 (-0.74 to 1.14) for Martin/Hopkins and -0.40 (-1.19 to 0.55) for Sampson. According to Passing Bablok regression analyses, the intercept was determined as -0.97 (95% CI=-1.01 to -0.93), 0.41 (95%=0.37 to 0.44) and -0.05 (-0.08 to -0. 03) and slopes were calculated as 1.083 (95% CI=1.07–1.09), 0.88 (0.88 to 0.89) and 0. 90 (95%=0.89 to 0.90) for Friedewald, Martin/Hopkins and Sampson, respectively. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the Martin/Hopkins formula performed better than the Friedewald and Sampson formulas. We figured out utilizing the Martin/ Hopkins formula as a good alternative for estimated LDL-C in Turkish adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY) occurs due to mutations in genes involved in pancreatic beta cell function and insulin secretion, has heterogeneous clinical and laboratory features, and account for 1-5% of all diabetes cases. The prevalence and distribution of MODY subtypes vary between countries. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and laboratory characteristics, mutation distribution, and phenotype-genotype relationship in a large case series of pediatric Turkish patients genetically diagnosed with MODY. Methods: MODY cases from 14 different pediatric endocrinology departments were included. Diagnosis, treatment, follow-up data, and results of genetic analysis were evaluated. Results: A total of 224 patients were included, of whom 101 (45%) were female, and the mean age at diagnosis was 9.4±4.1 years. Gene variant distribution was: 146 (65%) GCK; 43 (19%) HNF1A; 8 (3.6%) HNF4A, 8 (3.6%) KLF11 and 7 (3.1%) HNF1B. The remaining 12 variants were: PDX (n=1), NEUROD1 (n=3), CEL (n=1), INS (n=3), ABCC8 (n= 3) and KJNC11 (n=1). Of the cases, 197 (87.9%) were diagnosed with incidental hyperglycemia, 16 with ketosis (7%) and 7 (3%) with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), while 30% presented with classical symptoms of diabetes. Two-hundred (89%) had a family history of diabetes. Anti-GAD antibody was detected in 13 cases, anti-islet antibody in eight and anti-insulin antibody in four. Obesity was present in 16. Distribution of therapy was: 158 (71%) diet only; 23 (11%) intensive insulin treatment; 17 (7.6%) sulfonylureas; 10 (4.5%) metformin; and 6 (2.7%) insulin and oral anti-diabetic treatment. Conclusion: This was the largest genetically diagnosed series from Turkey. The most common gene variants were GCK and HNF1A with much lower proportions for other MODY types. Hyperglycemia was the most common presenting symptom while 11% of patients had diabetes-associated autoantibodies and 7% were obese. The majority of patients received dietary management only. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to establish normative values for maximum inspiratory pressure and maximal expiratory pressure in the Turkish population while creating specific equations to calculate these values. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study involved 219 healthy adults, with a minimum of 50 individuals in specific age ranges: 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50-60 years. Each age group comprised at least 25 males and 25 females. Participants were required to be free from health conditions influencing respiratory muscle strength and non-smokers. Measurements of maximum inspiratory pressure and maximal expiratory pressure were recorded for all participants. RESULTS: As a result of the regression analysis performed for the maximum inspiratory pressure values, the model P value was < .001, and the R2 value was found to be 0.261. The equation obtained as a result of the model was: 82.583 - 3.218 × gender - 0.093 × age + 9.534 × height + 0.343 × weight. As a result of the regression analysis performed for maximal expiratory pressure values, the model P value was <.001, and the R2 value was found to be 0.285. The equation obtained as a result of the model was: 157.165 - 35.522 × gender - 0.271 × age-42.036 × height + 0.787 × weight. CONCLUSIONS: The newly developed equations offer valuable tools for evaluating respiratory muscle strength in the Turkish population. These results confirm the importance of using maximum inspiratory pressure and maximal expiratory pressure to monitor changes in each patient, while also emphasizing the necessity of reliable reference equations. The aim of this study was to validate the Turkish version of the Career Exploration and Decision Self‐Efficacy (CEDSE) Scale with Turkish undergraduate students. Results show that with the sample of Turkish undergraduate students (N = 202) the Turkish CEDSE Scale had a two‐factor structure with 12 items. The CEDSE Scale's two‐factor structure was validated by a sample of Turkish undergraduate students (N = 255). Multigroup confirmatory factor analysis verified the measurement invariance of the CEDSE Scale across gender groups. The Turkish CEDSE Scale produced positive relations with measures of vocational outcome expectations and career decidedness as well as strong positive correlations with career decision‐making self‐efficacy. The CEDSE Scale scores produced statistically significant beta coefficients predicting vocational outcome expectations and career decidedness. The results support the concurrent and criterion‐related validity of the CEDSE Scale. Calculations of Cronbach's alpha, McDonald's omega, and stability coefficients yielded evidence for the CEDSE Scale's reliability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated the direct and indirect associations between social–emotional learning (SEL) skills, career decision self‐efficacy (CDSE), vocational outcome expectations (VOE), and career engagement (CE) within social cognitive career theory (SCCT) in a sample of Turkish university students. Junior and senior students (N = 460) completed the Social–Emotional Learning Scale‐Young Adult Form, the Career Decision Self‐Efficacy Scale‐Short Form, the Vocational Outcome Expectations Scale, the Career Engagement Scale, and the Demographic Information Form. Data was collected during COVID‐19 lockdowns in 2021. The results of a multiple serial mediation model indicated that higher SEL skills were related to higher CDSE and VOE, and, in turn, to CE. Overall, the results show that SCCT provides a promising framework for identifying predictors of CE, self‐directed career management behavior, in young adults during the transition from school to work. This research aims to compile recent clinical and genetic data from Turkish patients with inherited retinal disorders and evaluate the effectiveness of targeted Next‐generation sequencing panels. The study included Turkish individuals with hereditary retinal diseases who visited the Medical Genetic Department of Erciyes University between 2019 and 2022. One proband per family was selected based on eligibility. We used Hereditary Disorder Solution (HDS) by Sophia Genetics and performed next‐generation sequencing (NGS) with Illumina NextSeq‐500. Bioinformatics analysis using Sophia DDM® SaaS algorithms and ACMG guidelines classified genomic changes. The study involved 354 probands. Disease‐causing variants were found in 58.1% of patients, with ABCA4, USH2A, RDH12, and EYS being the most frequently implicated genes. Forty‐eight novel variants were detected. This study enhances the knowledge of clinical diagnoses, symptom onset, inheritance patterns, and genetic details for Turkish individuals with hereditary retinal disease. PIKTES is an education project carried out by Ministery of National Education (MoNE) to contribute to the access of children under temporary protection to education in Türkiye. This qualitative study examines the challenges faced by teachers assigned to the Integration of Syrian Children into the Turkish Education System (PIKTES) project. Guided by social justice theory, focus group interviews were conducted with eight teachers to explore their experiences. Findings reveal significant disparities in employment conditions, including insecure contracts, inadequate compensation, and limited access to benefits compared to regular teachers. Participants reported confusion regarding their legal status and rights due to conflicting regulations. This research underscores the urgent need for policy reforms to recognize the contributions of these teachers, improve their working conditions, and ensure their professional development. This study used skeletochronology to assess the relationships of age and body length of the individuals in a population of the Levant green lizard (Lacerta media), located in the Harmancık Village, Torul District, Gümüşhane Province. The mean age and SVL in the adult individuals of the Harmancık population were 101.57 ± 4.04 mm and 5.31 ± 1.34 years for all individuals (101.10 ± 3.61 mm and 5.31 ± 1.03 years in adult females and 102.09 ± 4.57 mm and 5.33 ± 1.67 years in adult males). The age range varied was 4-8 years in adult males and 4-7 years in adult females. The age of the subadult males and subadult females was at 3 years, while the age of the two juveniles was 2 years. A positive correlation was found between body size (SVL) and age in adult female and male individuals of the species. A male-biased sexual size dimorphism (SSD = -0.097) was observed. In forensic and archaeological contexts, accurately determining an individual's age, sex, height, and weight is essential for the identification of unidentified bodies and dismembered remains. This study assesses the effectiveness of linear regression analysis and artificial neural networks (ANNs) in estimating body weight using foot measurements within the Eastern Turkish population. The research was conducted with medical students, including 149 volunteers--76 males and 73 females. Participants' height and weight were recorded using a stadiometer. Foot measurements were taken with a Vernier caliper and an osteometric board. The data were assessed utilizing SPSS 26.0, and ANN models were developed using the Keras library within the Google Colab platform. In terms of height, weight, and foot size, all these values were significantly higher in males than in females. Linear regression methods resulted in a root mean squared error (RMSE) of 11.83 kg for males, 6.23 kg for females, and 9.56 kg for the entire sample. With ANNs, these error values were reduced to 10.13 kg for males, 5.10 kg for females, and 8.07 kg for the entire sample. The analysis shows that ANNs are more adept at handling complex data, leading to improved prediction accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gen Z is well-recognized as the first generation to have lived through the full digital era. They are used to utilizing technology, have been on social media since they were young children, and have even developed an addiction to it because they grew up in a technologically advanced world. Preliminary research has looked at Gen Z's educational preferences in the marketing and education realms, as well as product promotion techniques directed towards them. Furthermore, most of the early Gen Z research was conducted in the United States. Because there is a lack of reliable literature studies on HR and organizational research material related to Gen Z and their career-related objectives, organizations are ill-prepared to accept this new generation into the workforce. This study identifies the organizational values that the members of Generation Z find significant. The purpose of the study is to ascertain how closely the members of Generation Z align with corporate values and preferences. The research employs a quantitative methodology: 109 Turkish university students who were enrolled in classes were given a survey. Consequently, this identified the preferences of Generation Z members in Turkey. The literature lacks reliable studies regarding diverse investigations on Generation Z's preferences conducted outside of the United States. This research will add to the literature about this topic. This study's conclusions highlight how complex and multidimensional Generation Z's views are regarding innovation and sustainability in the Turkish setting. The analyses did not show any significant mediating or predicting effects, contrary to the initial hypotheses that suggested a direct relationship between these attitudes, society contributions, educational attainment, and personal values. This implies that the variables influencing university students in Generation Z's sustainability and innovation orientations are more complicated than previously thought and might not be directly impacted by the variables looked at in this study. Background: Grip strength is an important indicator of muscle strength. Nursing job demands physical power, which is related to their muscle strength. However, studies on nurses' grip strength remains lacking. Objective: This study aims to examine the differences in grip strength between staff nurses and nursing students and to identify factors associated with grip strength in nursing sample. Method: This study was designed as descriptive and analytical. Data collected from nursing students and staff nurses in Turkiye, from May 1 to September 30, 2022. A total of 200 staff nurses and 200 nursing students participated. Data tool included a participant information form, the Perceived Stress Scale-4 (PSS-4), and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ). Moreover, researchers assessed the anthropometric measurements using the same scale and grip strength using a digital hand dynamometer. Results: There was no significant difference in grip strength of staff and student nurses. 48.8% of participants met or exceeded Turkish normative values. 79.5% of staff nurses and 66.0% of nursing students reported musculoskeletal issues in the last 12 months. Height, waist-to-hip ratio, and neck circumference was found to be significant predictors of grip strength, explaining 57% of the variance. Conclusion: Grip strength was similar between staff nurses and nursing students, despite differences in age, BMI, and musculoskeletal issues. Height, waist-to-hip ratio, and neck circumference are key predictors of grip strength in this Turkish nursing sample. Understanding the factors influencing grip strength can help in designing targeted interventions to maintain and improve muscle strength in nursing professionals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To assess the integration of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in teaching and learning, a new construct for ICT competence was developed by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2022. The framework for ICT assessment involves four major dimensions; access to ICT, use of ICT, students' ICT competencies, and subject-related ICT use. In this paper, we analysed this ICT assessment in terms of validity construction of test scores with data from PISA 2018 and investigated ICT competence in relation to the variables of mathematics, science, and reading literacy. The analyses were based on public data from PISA 2018 for Turkey (N = 6890). After removal of univariate and multivariate outliers from the Turkish sample, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modelling were performed on 5438 data items. In the study, we confirmed the four-dimensional structure of ICT competence for the Turkish sample. In this study, the construct validity of the PISA 2018 application ICT test was verified using the Turkish sample. The ESCS variable was included as a control variable in the analyses due to its significant impact on the relevant variables. The analysis showed that the mathematical literacy scores of the PISA 2018 Turkish students were positively low affected by the availability of ICT, negatively low affected by the entertainment of ICT, and positively low affected by the interest and perceived competence in ICT, use of ICT for educational purposes at school and outside school, and the use of ICT related to the subject. Considering the ICT variables that affected the PISA 2018 students' science literacy scores; the entertainment of ICT and the interest and perceived competence in ICT significantly low affected the students' use of ICT on the subject. On the other hand, the availability of ICT negative significantly low affect their science literacy scores. While the entertainment of ICT negatively low affected the science literacy scores, interest and perceived competence in ICT and use of ICT for educational purposes at school and outside school positively low affected the students' use of ICT on the subject. Finally, when we look at the ICT variables that low affected the students' reading literacy scores; and use of ICT for educational purposes at school and outside school and the interest and perceived competence in ICT significantly positive low affected the use of ICT on the subject. On the other hand, the availability of ICT negative significantly low affect reading literacy scores. Background: Oral problems are a common occurrence among school-age children. In order to develop effective oral health interventions and services, it is essential to determine children's oral health behaviours using an internationally accepted standardised instrument that is child-friendly. However, no instrument currently exists to measure oral health according to the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) in Turkish school-aged children. The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Oral Health Questionnaire, which includes the components of the theory of planned behavior such as attitude toward children's oral health, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and self-efficacy, for the Turkish population. Methods: This was a methodological–descriptive–correlational study conducted on 298 school children aged 9–10 years. Data were collected using The Oral Health Questionnaire. The data were evaluated using explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, item-total score correlation, and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis. Results: Factor analysis confirmed the five-dimensional structure. The factor loads were greater than 0.30, and all fit indices were greater than 0.90. The model consistency indexes were found to be X2 = 146.95, RMSEA = 0.053, GFI = 0.94, CFI = 0.98, IFI = 0.97, and NNFI = 0.97. The Cronbach's alpha values of its sub-dimensions were 0.71 and 0.80. Conclusions: The Turkish version of Oral Health Questionnaire is considered a reliable and valid instrument that can be used by professionals to determine children's attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and oral and dental health intentions toward tooth brushing. In this study, the relationship between smartphone addiction nodes was examined by network analysis. The participants consisted of 406 adolescents aged between 13 and 18. Data were collected using the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version. Network analysis was carried out in three steps, which included estimation of the research model, analysis of the network model, and assessment of the stability of network parameters. Among the nodes of the smartphone addiction scale, smartphone addiction 2 and smartphone addiction 7 were determined as the central node, as they had a high degree, betweenness, closeness, and expected influence value. Smartphone addiction 5, smartphone addiction 4, and smartphone addiction 9 had a medium degree, closeness, and expected influence values. One of the first steps in tobacco addiction treatment is gaining insight into whether the individual has a problem with nicotine use and realizing the need for cessation treatment. This study is a methodological study describing the cultural adaptation of the Nicotine Use Awareness and Insight Scale and evaluating its Turkish validity and reliability. Linguistic validation was carefully performed through forward and backward translation. The study group consisted of 368 individuals who were confirmed to be tobaccodependent by scoring four or higher on the The Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence. A strong positive correlation was found between Nicotine Use Awareness and Insight Scale and Stages of Change Readiness and Treatment Eagerness Scale scores, used for equivalent criterion (predictive) validity. Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.85. Exploratory factor analysis showed that the scale explained 52.7% of the total variance with a single-factor structure. Nicotine Use Awareness and Insight Scale, a reliable and valid scale for Turkish people, can be utilized in studies aimed at raising awareness and raising consciousness among addicted individuals. Objective: In our study, we aimed to adapt the Suicide Crisis Inventory (SCI), which can be used specifically to assess the acute phase of suicide, to the Turkish population by examining its Turkish validity and reliability in a non-clinical sample. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 300 university students aged 18-24 years were evaluated online using the Socio-demographic and Clinical Data Form, the SCI, and the Suicide Behavior Questionnaire (SBQ). Criterion validity, discriminative validity, and factor analyses (exploratory and confirmatory) were conducted for the validity of the SCI, and internal consistency and item-total correlations were examined for reliability analyses. Additionally, a linear regression model was constructed to assess the predictive validity of the SCI. The predictive validity of past SCI scores was evaluated using a simple regression model. Results: When the linear regression model was tested with SCI scores as the independent variable and SBQ scores as the dependent variable [F(1-298)=203.625; P=.000], it was found that the independent variable explained 41% of the variance in the dependent variable (r =0.637; r² =0.406). SCI scores significantly predicted SBQ scores (t = 14.270; B=0.047; Bsth=0.003; β=0.647; P=.000). In the validity analysis, the items removed from the scale could be evaluated for the total score, as they did not belong to any factor as originally specified. When items were removed, the total item reliability was Cronbach’s alpha=0.981. Conclusion: We believe that the SCI will be a useful tool in assessing short-term suicide risk in a Turkish sample and in conducting scientific research. Objective: Horizontal gaze palsy with progressive scoliosis (HGPPS) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder resulting from axonal midline crossing defect due to variants in ROBO3. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated demographics, clinical phenotype, course of spinal deformities, and neuroimaging findings of six Turkish patients with HGPPS. We performed targeted gene testing by next‐generation sequencing. Results: The median age at symptom onset and diagnosis was 1.5 years (0.5–4), and 11 years (2–16), respectively. Oculomotor signs were the most common presenting symptom (n = 4), followed by scoliosis (n = 2). The course of scoliosis was progressive and accompanied by kyphosis, showed intrafamilial variability, and was corrected surgically in three of the patients. Intellectual disability (n = 4), hypergonadotropic hypogonadism (n = 2), hearing loss (n = 2), and tranisent movement disorders (n = 1) were additional features. Targeted gene sequencing revealed five distinct homozygous variants. Of the four novel variants, two of them were located in the acceptor site of the noncoding region of the gene, remaining two were missense and frameshift variants, located in immunoglobulin‐like domain‐2, and cytoplasmic signaling motif 2, respectively. Structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) showed the absence of decussation of superior cerebellar peduncle and dorsal transverse pontine fibers. Interpretation: Spectrum of HGPPS is further expanded with novel variants in the ROBO3 with clinical and radiological fingerprints. Spinal deformities require close orthopedic screening and individualized approach. Intellectual disability and hearing loss emerge as additional features. For decades, the traditional precepts of "Turkish Islam" have defined the community structure for Turkish immigrants in The Netherlands. Today, spiritualism rather than Islamic morality is emerging as the more compelling religious practice among young people, especially among women who are looking to break out of their culturally enclosed communities. This study uses the terms "enclosure" and "opening up" as metaphors for immigrant participation in Dutch society and suggests that religious Muslim women immigrants are both the founders and dismantlers of the two metaphors. Through their own narratives, women are shown to challenge and resolve social compartmentalization, and the role of cultural transmission through "Ummahtism" (the global Islamic community) is detailed as it is reinterpreted in Europe by Dutch–Turkish women. Aim: Determining the anthropometric characteristics of the nose, which is located in the center of the face, plays an important role not only in surgical procedures but also in identifying ethnic differences. This study aimed to examine the nasal similarities and differences between Kazakhs and Turks who have lived in different regions for more than a thousand years. Material and Methods: The study included 200 Turkish students and 200 Kazakh students. For each student, sixteen distance measurements and five angle measurements of the nose were taken. The photographs were taken using a digital camera mounted on a tripod, with a distance of 1.50 meters between the photographer and the student participating in the study. Digital photographs of the front, left side, and base of the nose were taken in the Frankfurt Horizontal Plan, which is the standard head position. The photographs were transferred to the DIGIMIZER software, where measurements were made using anthropometric points previously determined. Results: The findings reveal that among both societies, nasal measurements tend to be greater for males compared to females. Conversely, females exhibit higher nasofrontal (p=0.001) and nasolabial (p=0.001) angles compared to males. Moreover, Turks generally exhibit greater nasal length (p=0.001), width (p=0.001), and height (p=0.037) than Kazakhs, whereas tend to have lower nasofrontal (p=0.001) and nasolabial (p=0.001) angles than Kazakhs. Conclusion: Nasal anthropometric measurements for males were generally higher than for females. In addition, all measurements differed between Turks and Kazakhs. Purpose: To analyze the prevalence and characteristics of pigmentary glaucoma (PG) and pigment dispersion syndrome (PDS) in patients diagnosed at a tertiary center eye clinic in Türkiye. Methods: This retrospective, single-center study was conducted at the glaucoma clinic of Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital. The files of patients with glaucoma diagnoses between 2015 and 2023 were retrospectively reviewed. The prevalence of PG and PDS, characteristics of the patients, surgical requirements, applied surgical procedures, and risk factors for PG were analyzed. Results: Of the 7,800 files that were reviewed, 50 (0.64%) belonged to patients with PDS or PG. The mean follow-up time was 41.45±34.56 months, and the mean age of the patients was 48.9±12.86 years. Twenty-five (50%) patients were male. Of the 100 eyes reviewed initially, 56 had PDS, 44 had PG, and 17 (30.3%) with PDS progressed to PG during the follow-up period. The mean spherical equivalent (SE) was --1.03±1.62 diopter. In the comparison of eyes with PDS and PG, there were no significant differences with regard to age, sex, SE, central corneal thickness, or best-corrected visual acuity. A median intraocular pressure (IOP) of 17.5 mmHg was achieved on two median glaucoma medications at the last visit. Overall, 10 eyes with PG required surgical and laser interventions for IOP control. Laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) was performed on nine of these eyes, trabeculectomy with antimetabolite augmentation on two (which had previously undergone LPI), and XEN® gel stent implantation on one. Conclusion: Among the glaucoma patients, the detected frequency of PDS and PG was 0.64%. We did not detect male dominance. The messages on gender roles given through fairy tales, which contain elements related to the structure of society, cause children to internalize the knowledge and behavioral patterns they have acquired since their early ages, to be exhibited at later ages. This study was carried out to scrutinize the gender norms in Kyrgyz and Turkish fairy tales, revealing their similarities and differences, and examining the reflection of these norms on social life. A case study model, one of the qualitative research methods, was used and data was collected through document review and interview techniques. The documents (fables), used in the study, were determined using the stratified purposeful sampling method. Among the tales reached in the first stage, the ones in the realistic tale type and enriched with extraordinary elements were selected: a Kyrgyz and a Turkish tale with a family theme were selected from these tales. Tales were examined in terms of the gender norms they contain. The contents of the tales were analyzed in detail with the descriptive analysis technique. Individual interviews were conducted with 2 Kyrgyz students living in Türkiye and 2 Turkish students living in Kyrgyzstan, and the data were analyzed with the descriptive analysis technique. In the research, different gender norms in both tales were determined and it was concluded that these norms were reflected in social life. These norms have emerged in the form of supporting the patriarchal structure in the Turkish fairy tale while in the Kyrgyz fairy tale, the woman is considered to be precious. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy (IgAN) treatment consists of maximal supportive care and, for high-risk individuals, immunosuppressive treatment (IST). There are conflicting results regarding IST. Therefore, we aimed to investigate IST results among IgAN patients in Turkiye. The data of 1656 IgAN patients in the Primary Glomerular Diseases Study of the Turkish Society of Nephrology Glomerular Diseases Study Group were analyzed. A total of 408 primary IgAN patients treated with IST (65.4% male, mean age 38.4 ± 12.5 years, follow-up 30 (3–218) months) were included and divided into two groups according to treatment protocols (isolated corticosteroid [CS] 70.6% and combined IST 29.4%). Treatment responses, associated factors were analyzed. Remission (66.7% partial, 33.7% complete) was achieved in 74.7% of patients. Baseline systolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, and proteinuria levels were lower in responsives. Remission was achieved at significantly higher rates in the CS group (78% vs. 66.7%, p = 0.016). Partial remission was the prominent remission type. The remission rate was significantly higher among patients with segmental sclerosis compared to those without (60.4% vs. 49%, p = 0.047). In the multivariate analysis, MEST-C S1 (HR 1.43, 95% CI 1.08–1.89, p = 0.013), MEST-C T1 (HR 0.68, 95% CI 0.51–0.91, p = 0.008) and combined IST (HR 0.66, 95% CI 0.49–0.91, p = 0.009) were found to be significant regarding remission. CS can significantly improve remission in high-risk Turkish IgAN patients, despite the reliance on non-quantitative endpoints for favorable renal outcomes. Key predictors of remission include baseline proteinuria and specific histological markers. It is crucial to carefully weigh the risks and benefits of immunosuppressive therapy for these patients. In the Journal of the Institute for Recent History of Serbia, Belgrade – “Tokovi istorije”, 3/2022, among other articles, an “Original scientific paper” was published, in English, by dr. Zoran Janjetović, a scientific advisor in the mentioned Institute, on the Emigration of the Kosovo Albanians into Turkey during the 1950s of the 20th century. In the same article, the author rightly partially referred to the question of the emigration of the rest of the Muslim population of Yugoslavia to Turkey, before and after the Second World War. After reading and analysing the such article, I came to the conclusion that the mentioned paper is certainly original, but, in my opinion, by no means scientific. In other words, in the time when almost all archival material is available for the research of the mentioned problem, to conclude that the emigration of Albanians, Turks, Boshniaks and other Muslims of Kosovo and the FPR of Yugoslavia as a whole, in Turkey, after the Second World War, was free/ according to their free will, in my opinion and deep conviction, is beyond all logic and historical truth. For example, the conclusions of Mr. Zoran Janjetović: a) „…partial emigration of ethnic Turks was acceptable, but the emigration of all Muslims, especially Albanians, was considered politically harmful. To prevent this, the Macedonian territory was divided into 'blocks' based on the number of ethnic Turks. Emigration was permitted from areas with a larger number of Turks, but not from those with a smaller number“; b) „The Yugoslav and Serbian authorities opposed the emigration of non-Turks from the very beginning, and this policy remained in place for a long time, especially for Muslims outside of Macedonia. Claims by some Western authors that the 'Serbian' authorities allegedly wanted to expel Albanians are unfounded. On the contrary, until 1957, the authorities in Serbia were against emigration from Kosovo, and the Federal government also wanted to limit emigration only to Macedonian Turks “; and, c) „The Muslims started to emigrate to Turkey after a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ of 1953 between Tito and Turkish Foreign Minister Fuat Köprülü. The agreement foresaw emigration of ethnic Turks from Macedonia, but other Muslims tended to join them. Because of that the Yugoslav authorities strove to limit emigration only to Turkish - inhabited parts of Macedonia. This failed because Muslims came to Macedonia from other parts of the country in order to emigrate. Among these emigrants there was a certain number of Kosovo Albanians. Like the Turks, they emigrated for religious, economic and social reasons… The article shows that the Yugoslav authorities in no way supported Albanian emigration, but rather that they tried to stop it“, in my opinion, are untrue and scientifically unfounded. In other words, according to my knowledge, and as cited in my book and in several of my articles on this subject, the mass emigration of the Muslim population, including the emigration of the Albanians from Yugoslavia to Turkey, after the Second World War started аs a result of the flagrant abuse of the mentioned bilateral agreement, by the Yugoslav/ Macedonian authorities. The emigration to Turkey was allowed not only to a small portion of Turks, as previously was agreed upon, but rather to the Turkish and the rest of the Muslim population as a whole. That the stated conclusions of Mr. Z. Janjetović are not correct, among other things, is confirmed by the final result of the mass emigration not only the Turks, but also a large number of Albanians and other Muslim populations.

The article deals with the results of the archaeological works, conducted at the Baba-Ata fortified settlement in 1950s. During the study of the settlement citadel, three building horizons, connected by a well with a total length of 15 m, were identified. The lower horizon of the citadel with a central domed room, where there was a well with an underground passage, turned out to be unique in its own way. Having no similar analogues, the construction on the lower horizon gave rise to a lot of different interpretations among specialists, who considered this building as a homestead, castle, temple, sanctuary, khanqah, etc. The architectural archaeological analysis of the entire complex of sources (articles, excavation journals of expedition participants, drawings and photographs of objects under study, etc.), some of which have not been published anywhere, made it possible to give a completely different interpretation and dating of the site. The Baba-Ata fortified settlement is identified with the city of Baruket in Arabic sources, it was built by the Samanids at the beginning of the 10th century as a border point in the northeast of the empire against the Guzes Initially, the lower horizon construction consisted of two floors. The lower – semibasement, which caused a lot of controversy, was a shelter with the possibility of evacuation through the underground passage during the hostilities and has no analogues, being a kind of only building in medieval architecture of Central Asia.

Bu makale, Şiiliğin Zeydiyye koluna mensup Deylemli bir aile içerisinde dünyaya gelen Sünni mutasavvıf Rûzbihân-ı Baklî’nin (ö. 606/1209) eserlerinde “Türk” algısının nasıl olduğu üzerinde durmuştur. Bazı kaynaklarda Abbasiler zamanında paralı asker olarak görev yapan Türkler ile hicri üçüncü yüzyılda İslam’ın İran’ın kuzeyinde bulunan Deylem Bölgesi’ne girmesiyle Müslüman olan Deylemliler arasında yer yer çekişmelerin olduğu müşahede edilmiştir. Nitekim bu çatışmanın sebeplerinden birisinin de paralı askerlik yaparak geçimini sağlayan mezkûr kabilenin, önceleri de farklı devletlerde aynı orduda görev aldıkları Türkleri kendilerine rakip olarak görmeleri olmuştur. Bu çalışma Rûzbihân-ı Baklî’nin Türkler hakkında Deylemlilerin aksine bir görüş sergileyip sergilemediğini ortaya koymayı, Rûzbihân-ı Baklî’nin eserlerinde “Türk” kelimesini tasavvufi açıdan nasıl ele aldığını ve bu kavramı tercih etmesinin sebeplerini tetkik edip bilimsel çalışmaların istifadesine sunmayı hedeflemektedir. Makalede ele alınan konun daha iyi anlaşılmasını sağlamak için ilk önce Deylem Kabilesi, bunların Türkler ile olan ilişkisi ve Rûzbihân-ı Baklî hakkında kısa bilgi verilmiş, Farsça eserlerde “Türk” kavramına hangi manaların yüklendiği hususu ele alınmıştır. Akabinde makalenin asıl konusunu oluşturan Rûzbihân-ı Baklî’nin kitaplarında “Türk” kelimesine yüklediği anlam “tecelli” ve “hüsn” terimleriyle birlikte işlenmiştir. Son olarak Rûzbihân-ı Baklî’nin ilahi aşkı anlatırken Türk kavramını tercih etmesinin nedenleri tespit edilip aktarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Nihai olarak Türklerle ciddi çekişmeler yaşayan Şii Zeydi bir aile içerisinde dünyaya gelen Rûzbihân-ı Baklî’nin, kabilesinin aksine bir tavır sergilediği, eserlerinde Türkleri güzellik, kahramanlık motifleriyle tasvir ettiği tespit edilmiştir.

Introduction: Ethical values are a guideline for behavior in certain situations. They take on particular importance in patient care. Ethical values depend on many factors including culture. The aim of this study is to compare the ethical values of nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was used. A total of 463 students participated in the survey, including 191 from Poland and 272 from Turkiye. The study was conducted from April to June 2022. For the purposes of this study was used Ethical Values Scale (IEVS). The criteria for excluding participants from the study were nursing student status and consent to participate in the study. Results: The IEVE total score for all respondents was 68.20 and the median was 68. In the individual subscales: Love-Respect 34.76 (median 35), Justice-Honesty 21.29 (median 21) and Cooperation 12.14 (median 12). Polish students' total IEVS score average was 70.48 ± 6.81 and Turkish students' IEVS total score average was 66.61 ± 9.65. Background: This study evaluates the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Nine-Item Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder Screen (NIAS) in a population of Turkish adolescents. Method: The NIAS, designed to screen for ARFID symptoms, including picky eating, fear-related eating behaviors, and low appetite, was administered to secondary school students between 13 and 18 ages in Muğla, Turkiye. Results: Based on a sample of 268 adolescents, the NIAS's reliability and validity in this demographic are supported. The research utilized confirmatory factor analysis to verify its three-factor structure and various reliability tests, including Cronbach's alpha and test-retest reliability, confirming the scale's internal consistency and temporal stability. The descriptive analysis highlighted significant differences in NIAS scores across BMI categories, with underweight adolescents scoring higher, suggesting a potential link between ARFID symptoms and lower body weight. Objective: Psychological capital refers to internal resources including self-efficacy, hope, optimism and resilience to overcome adverse life events. The current study sought to examine the mediating role of psychological capital in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and job satisfaction and work performance in healthcare professionals. Methods: Participants were 302 healthcare professionals [48% females; M(SD)age = 34.0 (7.5)] and completed measures of intolerance of uncertainty, psychological capital, work performance, and job satisfaction. Results: The findings indicated that intolerance of uncertainty was negatively correlated with psychological capital, work performance, and job satisfaction, whereas psychological capital was positively correlated with job satisfaction and work performance. More importantly, the findings revealed that these relationships were mediated by psychological capital. Conclusion: The results provide several contributions that help to understand the role of psychological capital in the relationship between intolerance to uncertainty and job satisfaction and work performance. Firms are increasingly expected to exhibit social responsibility and contribute to sustainability goals. Emerging studies have highlighted the importance of responsible leaders who stimulate their employees, which then results in employee voluntary behavior toward the environmental practices, referred to as organizational citizenship behavior for the environment (OCBE). Drawing from social learning theory, the current study explores the impact of responsible leadership (RL) on OCBE using data obtained from employees of Turkish manufacturing firms. Additionally, employee harmonious environmental passion and environmental transformational leadership (ETL) were examined as mediator and moderator respectively. The results indicated that RL has a positive effect on OCBE. RL has a positive effect on employee harmonious environmental passion. Employee harmonious environmental passion has a positive effect on OCE. The relationship between RL and OCBE was mediated by employee harmonious environmental passion. Also, it was discovered that high level of ETL, the link between RL and OCBE is stronger for firms' whose employees perceived high ETL. The common consensus is that owning pets affects human health positively. However, the effects of owning pets on mental health are still controversial. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the possible association with anxiety (AN), depression (DE), stress (ST), and owning cats and dogs in Türkiye. Additionally, the potential impact of personality traits on this relationship was examined. This study included 636 participants, of whom 52% were female (Mage = 33.02, SD = 15.78). Data were obtained using a Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 and the Big Five Personality Inventory. The findings revealed that owning cats and dogs was a promotive factor against AN (p < 0.001), DE (p < 0.01), and ST (p < 0.01) in the Turkish population. Among sociodemographic variables, marital status was found to be a risk factor for AN (p < 0.05) and DE (p < 0.05). Moreover, among the five personality traits, agreeableness (AGR) was determined to be a promotive factor in opposition to AN, DE, and ST. At the same time, openness (OPE) and neuroticism (NEU) were detected as risk factors. The results suggest that owning cats and dogs can provide benefits to human psychology. Couple burnout has been linked to several negative consequences for both individuals and couples. Identifying the factors that predict couple burnout is essential for developing effective interventions to prevent or lessen its detrimental impact on marital relationships. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate sociodemographic factors, relationship self-efficacy, happiness, and self-compassion as predictors of couple burnout in Turkish married individuals. A convenient sample of 401 married individuals completed a questionnaire that comprised a Personal Information Form, Couple Burnout Measure—Short Version, Relationship Self-Efficacy Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, and Single-Item Happiness Scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's product-moment correlation analysis, linear multiple regression analysis, and relative importance analyses. The results of this study suggest that being women, having a higher number of offspring, and lower levels of relationship self-efficacy, self-compassion, and happiness were significant positive predictors of couple burnout among married individuals. The type of marriage, monthly income, and duration of marriage were not significant predictors of couple burnout. Moreover, the results of the relative importance analyses consistently demonstrated that happiness was the strongest predictor of couple burnout among married individuals. The research findings demonstrate the multidimensional nature of couple burnout and provide a more nuanced understanding of its predictive factors. Although a handful of studies have investigated the prevalence of math anxiety among Turkish school children and its relationship with several variables like attitudes toward math, gender, self-efficacy, parental style, there is as of now no study focusing on development psychological interventions to cope with math anxiety. Most of the extant studies use quantitative approaches, but in order to develop intervention programs, researchers need to know how math anxiety develops, what kinds of personal variables or factors take place in this process, and what kind of emotional and cognitive reactions hold by students about math. Thus in our research, we employ qualitative methods to investigate the mathematical experiences of high school students in Turkey who have low math achievement. We discuss our findings in the context of the relevant literature. Based on these findings, psychological intervention programs may be developed to help students cope with math anxiety and remove the cognitive and emotional barrier to learning and loving mathematics. Objective: Blood pressure shows a physiological diurnal rhythm. Altered blood pressure circadian rhythm is more common in the elderly. Nocturnal hypertension (NH) and/or impaired nocturnal dipping profile are associated with increased mortality risk. The CYP2J2*7 polymorphism is associated with decreased arachidonic acid metabolite levels and increased cardiovascular mortality risk in different populations. The aim of this study was to investigate whether NH was associated with the CYP2J2*7 polymorphism in an elderly Turkish population. Methods: Ambulatory blood pressure data were obtained from 120 elderly (78 women and 42 men, aged 60-105 years) volunteers during 24 h. The CYP2J2*7 (G/T) polymorphism was evaluated using a Taqman® Drug Metabolism Genotyping Assay kit and a TAQMAN ABI7900 device. Results: The CYP2J2*7 T-allele frequency was 6.7% in our study population. The 24 h, day, and night systolic blood pressures were found to be 2-5 mmHg higher in CYP2J2*7 T-carriers (n=15) than in individuals with the GG genotype (n=105), however, the differences between the genotype groups were not statistically significant. The systolic blood pressure morning increase slope values of the CYP2J2*7 carriers and GG genotype group were 8.6±2.0 (mean ± standard error of mean) and 5.7±0.5, respectively, i.e., 50.7% higher in T-carriers (p=0.039). There was no statistically significant difference in the frequency of NH with the CYP2J2*7 polymorphism. Conclusion: Considering the existing literature with our findings, the CYP2J2*7 carrier status may indicate an increased risk of cardiovascular events. The objective of this study is to determine the components that contribute to psychological resilience in adolescents and to determine if physical exercise, emotion control, or self-efficacy are more effective predictors of resilience. Data from participants was collected through a personal information form, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire—Short Form, the Self-Efficacy Scale for Children, the Emotion Regulation Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Psychological Resilience Scale for Children and Adolescents. The data were gathered online from 16 out of the 81 provinces in Turkey, representing 7 different regions, using convenience sampling. The study sample comprised 505 adolescents, with 309 females and 196 males. The average age of the participants was 15.66 years, with a standard deviation of 1.34. The data obtained from the students was analyzed using SPSS 27.0 statistical software. The Chi-Square test was employed to establish the correlation between the demographic features of adolescents and their levels of physical activity. The relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable was determined using correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. According to the analyzed results, there was a substantial positive correlation between physical activity and resilience, reappraisal and resilience, and self-efficacy and resilience. In addition, it was noted that physical activity alone explains 4.8% of the overall variation in resilience and is a significant predictor of resilience. The inclusion of reappraisal in the model resulted in a partial prediction of resilience by physical activity. However, the primary strength of the model was attributed to reappraisal. The inclusion of self-efficacy in the model resulted in a significant prediction of resilience, accounting for 36.8% of the total variance. The self-efficacy variable had a higher impact level compared to the other variables. Furthermore, the inclusion of self-efficacy in the model resulted in the elimination of the influence of physical activity on resilience. Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of the miRNA-371a-3p for the primary diagnosis of germ cell tumors (GCT) and to investigate its relationship with pathological factors and clinical stage in the Turkish population. Materials and Methods: In this prospective study, a total of 60 patients with GCTs, and 40 healthy male controls were examined for serum levels of miRNA-371a-3p before orchiectomy and again two weeks after surgery. The miRNA-371a-3p, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), and beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (bHCG) levels in the preoperative and postoperative periods were compared at different clinical stages. Receiver operating characteristics curve analyses were performed to determine the sensitivity and specificity of miRNA-371a-3p. Clinical and pathological factors such as clinical stage (CS), tumor size, histology, rete testis invasion, and lymphovascular invasion, potentially impacting miRNA-371a-3p expression levels (relative quantity, RQ), were evaluated statistically. Results: The sensitivity of miR-371a-3p in GCT patients was 98.3%, and the specificity was 95% (AUC = 0.997 [95%Cl:0.99–1], p < .001). miR-371a-3p expression was not detected in two patients with teratoma. The median miR-371a-3p RQ was 489 times in GCT and 2.2 times in the Control group (p < .001). In the postoperative period, there was a significant decrease in AFP and bHCG levels in all CS-1 (p = .01) and 30% of the other CS (p = .3). Throughout this time there was a decrease of 19 times at the miR-371a-3p RQ in CS-1(p < .001) and 1.6 times in the other CS (p < .001). The miR-371a-3p RQs were correlated with tumor size and CS.
