Với mục đích duy trì chất lượng và kéo dài thời gian tồn trữ chôm chôm nhãn sau thu hoạch, nghiên cứu được tiến hành trên cơ sở khảo sát các yếu tố ảnh hưởng (i) các biện pháp xử lý sau thu hoạch [(acid citric (0,25; 0,5; 0,75%) kết hợp clorua canxi (0,2; 0,3; 0,4%), ozone (0,1; 0,15; 0,2 ppm) trong 5 phút], (ii) các loại bao bì (PP, PE, PSE và màng PVC, PP và thùng carton, PE và thùng carton) và (iii) nhiệt độ tồn trữ (10á25oC). Các chỉ tiêu hóa lý (màu sắc vỏ trái, hao hụt khối lượng, hàm lượng chất khô hòa tan, acid citric, acid ascorbic) và giá trị cảm quan trái được phân tích. Kết quả khảo sát cho thấy trái chôm chôm nhãn có thể duy trì chất lượng và khả năng bảo quản khoảng 15 ngày khi được xử lý kết hợp acid citric và clorua canxi (0,5%:0,3%) (hoặc 1,5 ppm ozone) sau thu họach và tồn trữ ở 10 oC trong bao bì PP (hoặc PE). Thành phần hóa học của trái (hàm lượng đường, acid citric, acid ascorbic) không dao động nhiều trong quá trình tồn trữ.

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện trên cơ sở khảo sát sự thay đổi chất lượng trái ở các giai đoạn thu hoạch khác nhau (90-95, 95-100, 100-105 và 105-110 ngày sau khi ra hoa) và tồn trữ ở 30oC. Kết quả cho thấy có sự khác biệt về đặc tính lý hóa học và giá trị cảm quan của chôm chôm thu hoạch ở các độ tuổi khác nhau. Trái thu hoạch ở thời điểm 105-110 ngày tuổi có cường độ hô hấp thấp, chất lượng, giá trị cảm quan và khả năng chấp nhận cao của người tiêu dùng so với các độ tuổi thu hoạch khác. Bảng màu chôm chôm nhãn ở các độ tuổi thu hoạch cùng với các chỉ tiêu chất lượng được thiết lập. Sự thay đổi đặc tính lý hóa học và giá trị thương phẩm của trái theo thời gian tồn trữ cũng được phân tích. Theo độ tuổi thu hoạch khác nhau, trái thu hoạch ở 105ữ110 ngày tuổi có giá trị cảm quan tốt hơn so với các giai đoạn thu hoạch khác sau 4 ngày tồn trữ. Sự thay đổi chất lượng của trái chưa thể hiện rõ trong quá trình tồn trữ.

Tác giả đã tỏ rõ quan điểm của mình về nền giáo dục hiện nay: Một nền giáo dục chưa thật sự mang tính đại chúng; một nền giáo dục luôn luôn thiếu nguồn lực; và tác giả đã nhấn mạnh đến vấn đề quản lý giáo dục: cần phải phi tập trung hóa về quản lý giáo dục, đề cao tính "pháp trị", giảm bớt tối đa tính "nhân trị”.

The comparison of the Sanim (SN) and Srithong (ST) varieties of the farmed apple snail Pomacea canaliculata as an alternative protein source has shown that ST contained more hydroxyproline and possessed a greater firmness than SN. Nevertheless, both varieties yielded similar protein contents of 20.90–23.07 % and exhibited similar texture, color, cooking yields and cooking losses after cooking. Good palatability with high liking score was obtained from both snail meat samples, particularly color, texture, and overall attributes. Snail meats possessed good nutritive value with an amount of protein and low fat content, whereas SN contained higher protein and total energy(P < 0.05). Other nutritionally useful chemicals (such as calcium, sodium, iron, vitamins B1 and B2) are present. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) results discovered that myosin heavy chain, paramyosin, and actin were the prevalent protein components. Differences in nitrogen content distribution were observed between SN and ST, in which alkaline-soluble protein was the major fraction. Amino acid composition and fatty acid content varied regarding snail varieties with a large amount of essential amino acids and good source of MUFA and PUFA. Therefore, both farmed SN and ST snails could be an effective alternative protein source with a significant amount of nutritive value.

Amentotaxus yunnanensis H.L.Li is a threatened conifer distributed only in China, Laos, and Vietnam, whose fungal endophytes have not been exploited yet. The aims of this study were to screen and characterize antioxidant metabolites from endophytic fungi obtained from A. yunnanensis. Using the surface sterilization method, sixteen endophytic fungi were isolated from A. yunnanensis and classified into seven genera including Fusarium, Penicillium, Aspergillus, Diaporthe, Neopestalotiopsis, Purpureocillium, and Simplicillium through the analysis of Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) gene sequences. Among the ethyl acetate crude extracts, Fusarium foetens AQF6 contained the highest amount of polyphenol (117.76 ± 0.94 mg gallic acid equivalent/g) and flavonoid (169.01 ± 2.09 mg quercetin equivalent/g). Importantly, 400 µg/mL AQF6 extract exhibited 95.75 ± 1.1% and 85.66 ± 1.91% of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and hydroxyl radical-scavenging activities, respectively. Chemical investigation led to the isolation and identification of a new bisabolane-type sesquiterpene fusafoetriol (FUS) and 14 known compounds, among which six pure compounds showed free-radical scavenging activity against DPPH and hydroxyl radicals. Under H2O2 stress, the yeast model Saccharomyces cerevisiae treated with 4 mM FUS showed 43.31% increase in viability. FUS has the potential to be applied in nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and food technological applications. Thus, this is the first report demonstrating the presence of endophytic fungi inhabiting A. yunnanensis and their potential as a prolific source of antioxidant metabolites.

Optimization of ingredient levels in red dragon fruit bar was conducted using response surface methodology (RSM). The central composite design (CCD) was used to establish the formula based on two independent variables, including levels of passion fruit and pectin. Total titratable acidity (TTA), ascorbic acid (AA), betacyanin (BA), total phenolic content (TPC), flavonoid content (FC), antioxidant activity (DPPH radical scavenging activity), color (L*-, a*-, and b*- values), and sensory evaluation (overall likeness score) were monitored. It was found that second-order regression models fitted for all responses where the optimum levels of passion fruit and pectin for mixed red dragon-passion fruit bar with desirable characteristics were 29.63% and 1.35%, respectively, based on desirable characteristics. The corresponding optimum values of TTA, AA, BA, TPC, FC, and DPPH radical scavenging activity were 2.30%, 0.0189%, 49.34 mg/100 g, 0.33 mg GAE/g, 75.29 mg QE/g, 11.46%, respectively. L*-, a*-, and b*- values were 13.10, 21.39, and 13.83, respectively. An overall likeness score of the fruit bar with high acceptability was 7.67. The experimental values were highly fitted with the predicted values.

This study focused on impact of ultrasound-assisted process (UAP) at pre-treatment (UP) and simultaneous treatment (US) during papain hydrolysis for preparing collagen hydrolysate (CH) from Asian bullfrog skin. Ultrasonication times were varied (10, 20, 30 min), and CH prepared using papain hydrolysis without UAP was used as control. Different UAPs provided CH with various hydroxyproline contents, α-amino group contents, surface hydrophobicities, and antioxidative activities. UP at 20 min (UP-20) and US at 30 min (US-30) provided highly antioxidative CHs, which were selected for further studies on their Oxygen reactive absorbance capacity (ORAC) and molecular characteristics. CHs from UP-20 and US-30 had higher ORAC than that of control group (p ≤ 0.05). Slight difference in amino acid composition was detected between samples. Based on these results, molecular characteristic styles, molecular weight profile, antioxidative peptide content, and secondary structure of each sample were obtained. These results indicate that UP and US used varied enzymatic hydrolysis patterns and modified molecular conformation of CH, resulting in enhanced antioxidative activity. Therefore, different UAPs as UP and US could be effectively used in preparation of CH using papain hydrolysis from Asian bullfrog skin, which could improve production process efficiency by enhancing their bioactivity, particularly antioxidative activity.

The quality characterization of different parts of male and female Ligor hybrid chickens was investigated and compared with those of commercial broiler. Genotypes, muscle types, and sex had effects on the composition, physicochemical, and textural properties of chicken samples. Ligor hybrid chicken contained higher percentages of protein, moisture, ash, and collagen content but lower fat content than those of commercial broiler (p < 0.05), except in the case of breast, where no significant difference in moisture and ash was observed (p ≥ 0.05). The pH in breast meat of both chickens was lower than that of thigh meat. The color (L*, a*, and b*) values of male and female chickens were not significantly different, except for the L* value of broiler chicken, which was higher in female chickens than in male chickens. Higher cooking loss and shear force were found in male Ligor hybrid chicken. A similar protein pattern was observed for the protein from the same muscle type, irrespective of sex and genotype tested. It was observed that Ligor hybrid chicken contained higher glutamic acid and aspartic acid than commercial broilers. Therefore, Ligor hybrid chicken is a promising new source of nutrition, which can be beneficial for consumers.

Context: Cudrania tricuspidata Bureau (Moraceae) is an important source of traditional Korean and Chinese medicines used to treat neuritis and inflammation. Objective: The anti-neuroinflammatory effects of cudraflavanone A isolated from a chloroform fraction of C. tricuspidata were investigated in LPS-induced BV2 cells. Materials and methods: Cudraflavanone A was isolated from the root of C. tricuspidata, and its structure was determined by MS and NMR data. Cytotoxicity of the compound was examined by MTT assay, indicating no cytotoxicity at 5–40 μM of cudraflavanone A. NO concentration was measured by the Griess reaction, and the levels of PGE2, cytokines and COX-2 enzyme activity were measured by each ELISA kit. The mRNA levels of cytokines were analysed by quantitative-PCR. The expression of iNOS, COX-2, HO-1, NF-κB, MAPKs and Nrf2 was detected by Western blot. Results: Cudraflavanone A had no major effect on cell viability at 40 μM indicating 91.5% viability. It reduced the production of NO (IC50 = 22.2 μM), PGE2 (IC50 = 20.6 μM), IL-1β (IC50 = 24.7 μM) and TNF-α (IC50 = 33.0 μM) in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells. It also suppressed iNOS protein, IL-1β and TNF-α mRNA expression. These effects were associated with the inactivation of NF-κB, JNK and p38 MAPK pathways. This compound mediated its anti-neuroinflammatory effects by inducing HO-1 protein expression via increased nuclear translocation of Nrf2. Discussion and conclusions: The present study suggests a potent effect of cudraflavanone A to prevent neuroinflammatory diseases. Further investigation is necessary to elucidate specific molecular mechanism of cudraflavanone A.

The most important thing is guarantee QoS over wireless infrastructures. The efficient of service level agreement (SLA) is becoming increasingly important to both service providers and customers. This paper presents some traffic control schemes for improving QoS, trafficmodel and performance evaluation are described. We are defining a new scheme for improving handoff call performances in wireless networks, a finite queuing scheme for the handoff calls. SLA measurement calculates the packet delay parameter (PD) of handoff calls. The handoff calls will be accepted into queue if their PD will be smaller than the average waiting time of the queue. Important performance measures of the suggested scheme such as the blocking probability of new call and dropping probability of handoff call are described and evaluated.

Network operators must perform many tasks to ensure smooth operation of the network, such as planning, monitoring, etc. Among those tasks, regular testing of network performance, network errors and troubleshooting is very important. Meaningful test results will allow the operators to evaluate network performanceof any shortcomings and to better plan for network upgrade. Due to the diverse and mainly unquantifiable nature of network testing results, there is a needs to develop a method for systematically and rigorously analysing these results. In this paper, we present STAM (System Test-result Analysis Method) which employs a bottom-up hierarchical processing approach using Fuzzy logic. STAM is capable of combining all test results into a quantitative description of the network performance in terms of network stability, the significance of various network erros, performance of each function blocks within the network. The validity of this method has been successfully demonstrated in assisting the testing of a VoIP system at the Research Instiute of Post and Telecoms in Vietnam. The paper is organized as follows. The first section gives an overview of fuzzy logic theory the concepts of which will be used in the development of STAM. The next section describes STAM. The last section, demonstrating STAM’s capability, presents a success story in which STAM is successfully applied.

Context: Paramignya trimera (Oliv.) Burkill (Rutaceae) has been used to treat liver diseases and cancer. However, the anti-inflammatory effects of this medicinal plant and its components have not been elucidated. Objective: This study investigated chemical constituents of the P. trimera stems and evaluated anti-inflammatory effects of isolated compounds. Materials and methods: Cytotoxicity of isolated compounds (5–40 μM) toward BV2 cells was tested using 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) for 24 h. Inhibitory effects of isolated compounds (5-40 μM) on nitrite and PGE2 concentrations were determined using Griess reaction and PGE2 ELISA kit, respectively (pretreated with the compounds for 3 h and then stimulated for 18 h with LPS). Inhibitory effects of compounds (5-40 μM) on iNOS and COX-2 protein expression were evaluated by Western blot analysis (pretreated with the compounds for 3 h and then stimulated for 24 h with LPS). Results: Seven coumarins were isolated and identified as: ostruthin (1), ninhvanin (2), 8-geranyl-7-hydroxycoumarin (3), 6-(6′,7′-dihydroxy-3′,7′-dimethylocta-2′-enyl)-7-hydroxycoumarin (4), 6-(7-hydroperoxy-3,7-dimethylocta-2,5-dienyl)-7-hydroxycoumarin (5), 6-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-2H-1-benzopyran (6), and luvangetin (7). Compounds 1–4 and 7 inhibited NO and PGE2 production in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells, with IC50 values ranging from 9.8 to 46.8 and from 9.4 to 52.8 μM, respectively. Ostruthin (1) and ninhvanin (2) were shown to suppress LPS-induced iNOS and COX-2 protein expression. Discussion and conclusion: The present study provides a scientific rationale for the use of P. trimera in the prevention and treatment of neuroinflammatory diseases. Ostruthin and ninhvanin might have potential therapeutic effects and should be considered for further development as new anti-neuroinflammatory agents.

A chemical investigation of the methanol extract from the roots of Cudrania tricuspidata resulted in the isolation of 16 compounds, including prenylated xanthones 1–9 and flavonoids 10–16. Their structures were identified by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry and comparisons with published data. Compounds 1–9 and 13–16 significantly inhibited PTP1B activity in a dose dependent manner, with IC50 values ranging from 1.9–13.6 μM. Prenylated xanthones showed stronger PTP1B inhibitory effects than the flavonoids, suggesting that they may be promising targets for the future discovery of novel PTP1B inhibitors. Furthermore, kinetic analyses indicated that compounds 1 and 13 inhibited PTP1B in a noncompetitive manner; therefore, they may be potential lead compounds in the development of anti-obesity and -diabetic agents.

In the course of studies on bioactive metabolites from marine fungi, a new 10-membered lactone, named penicillinolide A (1) was isolated from the organic extract of Penicillium sp. SF-5292 as a potential anti-inflammatory compound. The structure of penicillinolide A (1) was mainly determined by analysis of NMR and MS data and Mosher’s method. Penicillinolide A (1) inhibited the production of NO and PGE2 due to inhibition of the expression of iNOS and COX-2. Penicillinolide A (1) also reduced TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 production, and these anti-inflammatory effects were shown to be correlated with the suppression of the phosphorylation and degradation of IκB-α, NF-κB nuclear translocation, and NF-κB DNA binding activity. In addition, using inhibitor tin protoporphyrin (SnPP), a competitive inhibitor of HO activity, it was verified that the inhibitory effects of compound 1 on the production of pro-inflammatory mediators and NF-κB DNA binding activity were partially associated with HO-1 expression through Nrf2 nuclear translocation.

Inflammation is important in biomedical research, because it plays a key role in inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis and other forms of arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, allergies, asthma, and even cancer. In the present study, we describe the inhibitory effect of crude extracts and steroids isolated from the starfish Astropecten polyacanthus on pro-inflammatory cytokine (Interleukin-12 (IL-12) p40, interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α)) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs). Among those tested, compounds 5 and 7 showed potent inhibitory effects on the production of all three pro-inflammatory cytokines with IC50 values ranging from 1.82 ± 0.11 to 7.00 ± 0.16 μM. Potent inhibitory activities were also observed for compound 1 on the production of IL-12 p40 and IL-6 with values of 3.96 ± 0.12 and 4.07 ± 0.13 μM, respectively, and for compounds 3 and 4 on the production of IL-12 p40 with values of 6.55 ± 0.18 and 5.06 ± 0.16 μM, respectively. Moreover, compounds 2 (IC50 = 34.86 ± 0.31 μM) and 6 (IC50 = 79.05 ± 2.05 μM) exhibited moderate inhibitory effects on the production of IL-12 p40, whereas compounds 3 (IC50 = 22.80 ± 0.21 μM) and 4 (IC50 = 16.73 ± 0.25 μM) moderately inhibited the production of TNF-α and IL-6, respectively.

In recent years in Vietnam, the structure of multi-storey buildings has been strongly developed in both quantity and quality, especially multi-storey buildings made from prefabricated reinforced concrete structures. Collecting documents shows that the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam has built many multi-storey buildings using prefabricated reinforced concrete frame systems. In the southern climatic conditions, these multi-story buildings are directly affected by climate change, especially the seasonal wind load and the intensity of the wind is getting stronger and more complex, so the the work at the nodes of the frame will be affected. In this study, the authors studied the displacement of the frame system by horizontal displacement, vertical displacement, moment, shear and axial force of the frame according to three models: rigid linked frame, joint linked frame and semi-rigid linked frame.

Excessive microglial stimulation has been recognized in several neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), amyotropic lateral sclerosis (ALS), HIV-associated dementia (HAD), multiple sclerosis (MS), and stroke. When microglia are stimulated, they produce proinflammatory mediators and cytokines, including nitric oxide (NO) derived from inducible NO synthase (iNOS), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) derived from cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-12 (IL-12), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). These inflammatory reactions are related to the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways. Therefore, the modulation of NF-κB and MAPK is vital to prevent microglial activation and confer resistance against neuronal injury. In this study, steppogenin (1) isolated from Cudrania tricuspidata suppressed the neuroinflammatory responses to lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Steppogenin (1) inhibited the production of proinflammatory mediators and cytokines in LPS-challenged BV2 and rat primary microglial cells. Moreover, western blot analysis and immunofluorescence revealed that the nuclear translocation of NF-κB was inhibited in LPS-induced BV2 and rat primary microglial cells. The LPS-stimulated activation of BV2 and rat primary microglial cells was inhibited by steppogenin (1) through the suppression of c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 MAPK signaling. These results suggested that steppogenin (1) exerted antineuroinflammatory effects against acute neuroinflammation in BV2 and rat primary microglial cells by suppressing the activation of NF-κB and MAPK signaling and the production of proinflammatory mediators and cytokines.

Cudrania tricuspidata Bureau (Moraceae) is an important source of traditional Korean and Chinese medicines used to treat neuritis and inflammation. Cudratricusxanthone A (1), a prenylated xanthone, isolated from C. tricuspidata, has a variety of biological and therapeutic activities. The goal of this study was to examine the effects of compound 1 on neuroinflammation and characterize its mechanism of action in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated BV2 microglia. Cudratricusxanthone A (1) suppressed the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 enzymes and decreased the production of iNOS-derived nitric oxide and COX-2-derived prostaglandin E2 in LPS-stimulated mouse BV2 microglia. The compound also decreased tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-12 production; inhibited the phosphorylation and degradation of IκB-α; and blocked the nuclear translocation of p50 and p65 in mouse BV2 microglia induced by LPS. Cudratricusxanthone A (1) had inhibitory effects on nuclear factor kappa B DNA-binding activity. Additionally, it inhibited the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway. Our data suggests that cudratricusxanthone A (1) may be a useful therapeutic agent in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases caused by neuroinflammation.
