RESUMOEste artigo tem como objetivo estudar as estratégias de marketing e a percepção dos clientes em relação às marcas próprias oferecidas pelo setor supermercadista. A pesquisa teve um caráter exploratório e descritivo. Na fase exploratória, foram entrevistados os gerentes de marketing de três grandes redes de supermercados; na fase descritiva, 240 clientes foram questionados por meio de um instrumento de coleta estruturado, composto primordialmente de perguntas fechadas, voltado à apreensão de dados sobre o comportamento em relação às compras de produtos de marcas próprias. Por meio do método Qui-quadrado, verificou-se a existência de dependência entre as estratégias de marketing usadas e o perfil individual e socioeconômico dos clientes. Os resultados da pesquisa permitiram identificar um quadro das percepções do cliente em relação à frequência e motivações para compra, diferenciações de preço e qualidade em relação às marcas líderes, além de outras variáveis determinantes para a definição de uma estratégia mercadológica exitosa.ABSTRACTThe objective of this work is to study marketing strategies and customer’s perception in relation to the own-brand offered by the supermarket sector. The research had an exploratory and descriptive feature. In the exploratory phase the managers of three great networks of supermarkets were interviewed; in the descriptive phase 240 customers were interviewed by using a structured gathering tool, originally compounded by closed questions, directed to the apprehension of data about their behavior according to the purchases of own-brand products. By using the Chi-square method, it was statistically verified a dependence between the marketing strategies used in supermarkets and the socio-economical and individual profile of the clients. The research results have identified a framework of customer perceptions regarding the frequency and reasons for purchase, differences in price and quality for brand leaders, and other variables to determine the definition of a successful marketing strategy.RESUMENEste artículo tiene por finalidad analizar las estrategias de marketing y la opinión de los clientes con relación a las marcas propias ofrecidas por el sector de supermercados. Se realizó una investigación de carácter exploratorio y descriptivo. En la fase exploratoria, se entrevistaron los gerentes de marketing de tres grandes cadenas de supermercados; en la fase descriptiva, se encuestaron 240 clientes mediante un método de recolección de datos estructurado, compuesto principalmente por preguntas cerradas con el propósito de reunir datos sobre su comportamiento en las compras de productos de marca. Por medio del método Qui-cuadrado, se comprobó la existencia de dependencia entre las estrategias de marketing utilizadas y el perfil individual y socioeconómico de los clientes. Los resultados de la investigación permitieron identificar un cuadro de opiniones del cliente con respecto a la frecuencia y motivación para la compra, diferencias de precio y calidad con relación a las marcas líderes además de otras variables determinantes para definir una estrategia de mercadotecnia exitosa.

The detection of genetic alterations in patients with acute leukemias is essential for the targeting of more specific and effective therapies. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the sensitivity of Nested-PCR and RT-qPCR techniques in the detection of genetic alterations in patients with acute leukemias. This study included samples from 117 patients treated at the Fortaleza General Hospital. All samples were submitted to analysis using the Nested-PCR and the RT-qPCR techniques. Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) patients' samples were submitted to the analysis of the following alterations: FLT3-ITD, RUNX1::RUNX1T1, CBFB::MYH11 and PML::RARA; meanwhile, BCR::ABL1, TCF3::PBX1, KMT2A::AFF1, ETV6::RUNX1, and STIL::TAL1 fusions were investigated in the Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) patients' samples. Throughout the study, 77 patients were diagnosed with AML and 40 with ALL. Among the 77 AML patients, FLT3-ITD, RUNX1::RUNX1T1, PML::RARA, and CBFB::MYH11 were detected in 4, 7, 10 and 8 patients, respectively. Among the 40 ALL patients, the presence of 23 patients with BCR::ABL1 translocation and 9 patients with TCF3::PBX1 translocation was observed through the RT-qPCR methodology. Overall, the present study demonstrated that the RT-qPCR technique presented a higher sensitivity when compared to the Nested-PCR technique at the time of diagnosis of the acute leukemia samples studied. Background/Aim: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm marked by abnormal clonal expansion of hematopoietic progenitor cells, displaying karyotypic aberrations and genetic mutations as prognostic indicators. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the European LeukemiaNet guidelines categorize BCR::ABL1 p190+ AML as high risk. This study explored the identification of the increased incidence of BCR::ABL1 p190+ in our AML population. Patients and Methods: This study included 96 AML patients stratified according to WHO guidelines. Subsequently, patients were screened for genetic abnormalities, such as BCR::ABL1 p 190+, PML::RARA, RUNX1::RUNX1T1, and CBFB::MYH11 by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) analysis. Results: Among 96 AML patients, 36 displayed BCR::ABL1 p190+, overcoming the expected global incidence. Age variations (19 to 78 years) showed no significant laboratory differences between BCR::ABL1 p190+ and non-BCR::ABL p190+ cases. The overall survival analysis revealed no statistically significant differences among the patients (p=0.786). Conclusion: The analyzed population presented a higher frequency of BCR::ABL1 p190+ detection in adult AML patients when compared to what is described in the worldwide literature. Therefore, more studies are needed to establish the reason why this incidence is higher and what the best treatment approach should be in these cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The arrangement of layers of natural long fibers that compose a polymeric composite can result in a final material with greater mechanical strength, in addition to replacing synthetic glass and carbon fibers. This study proposed different configurations of layers of loofah fibers (Luffa cylindrica) to produce reinforced polymeric–polyester composites, determining their potential mechanical properties such as flexural strength and Rockwell hardness. The layers were arranged by varying parallel and perpendicularly the direction of the loofah fibers pieces. The reinforcement decreased the density of all composites, with the lowest value, 1.03 g cm−3, indicated by the configuration 90°/0°/90°. The composites in the configuration 0°/90°/0° presented the highest value among the reinforced compositions (10.8 MPa), in addition to the highest rigidity value during bending tests (774.8 MPa). In the Rockwell hardness tests, the treatment reinforced with fibers in the configuration 90°/90°/90° had the highest value among all experimental treatments with a value of 86.9 HHR. The configuration angle of the loofah layers has a significant impact on the mechanical performance of the composites and should be taken into account in their confection. Furthermore, composites reinforced with loofah fibers in different configurations have physical–mechanical properties that qualify them for non-structural applications in indoor environments. In this work, hybrid materials within the polydimethylsiloxane–silica (PDMS–SiO2) system, synthesized via the sol–gel method, were developed and characterized for their potential to incorporate and release the bioactive compound resveratrol (RES). RES was incorporated into the materials with a high loading efficiency (>75%) using the rotary evaporator technique. This incorporation induced the amorphization of RES, resulting in enhanced solubility and in vitro release when compared to the free polyphenolic compound. The release profiles displayed pH dependence, exhibiting notably faster release at pH 5.2 compared to pH 7.4. The gradual release of RES over time demonstrated an initial time lag of approximately 4 h, being well described by the Weibull model. In vitro cytotoxicity studies were conducted on human osteosarcoma cells (MG-63), revealing a concentration-dependent decrease in cell viability for RES-loaded samples (for concentrations >50 µg mL−1).
