In view of the lack of standardized test support for existing triboelectric research, a system suitable for the triboelectric performance test was independently developed. Through modular design and system integration, the three modules of loading, motion, and measurement control were designed in turn. The LabVIEW measurement control software was developed. By adding buffer springs and optimizing the loading structure, the stable loading under small load conditions was achieved. In addition, based on the insulation treatment of the upper and lower samples, the accurate measurement of micro currents was achieved. The reliability of the test system was verified by benchmarking test and friction electrification test, and the transferred charge of Cu-Al friction interface was analyzed. Moreover, the linear relationship between transferred charge and load was preliminarily determined. The results are beneficial to the standardization of tribo-electrical testing.

Traditional catalytic techniques often encounter obstacles in the search for sustainable solutions for converting CO2 into value-added products because of their high energy consumption and expensive catalysts. Here, we introduce a contact-electro-catalysis approach for CO2 reduction reaction, achieving a CO Faradaic efficiency of 96.24%. The contact-electro-catalysis is driven by a triboelectric nanogenerator consisting of electrospun polyvinylidene fluoride loaded with single Cu atoms-anchored polymeric carbon nitride (Cu-PCN) catalysts and quaternized cellulose nanofibers (CNF). Mechanistic investigation reveals that the single Cu atoms on Cu-PCN can effectively enrich electrons during contact electrification, facilitating electron transfer upon their contact with CO2 adsorbed on quaternized CNF. Furthermore, the strong adsorption of CO2 on quaternized CNF allows efficient CO2 capture at low concentrations, thus enabling the CO2 reduction reaction in the ambient air. Compared to the state-of-the-art air-based CO2 reduction technologies, contact-electro-catalysis achieves a superior CO yield of 33 μmol g−1 h−1. This technique provides a solution for reducing airborne CO2 emissions while advancing chemical sustainability strategy. Photocatalysis has received much attention as it is considered one of the potential solutions for solar energy conversion and counteracting environmental degradation. In order to promote the research work of the field and meet the requirements of practical applications, it is necessary to develop high efficiency visible-light-driven photocatalysts, especially the red semiconductor photocatalysts. This review aims to sum up the progress recently made in this field, concentrating on the scientific and technological possibilities offered by three kinds of red semiconductor photocatalysts for water splitting, organic contaminant decomposition, and CO2 photoreduction. The important progress is discussed and explained in detail, including the synthesis, characterization, and specific applications of red semiconductor photocatalysts. Finally, the review concludes by summarizing both findings and perspectives.

A new photoanode polypyrrole nanowire/TiO 2 nanotube (PPy NW/TiO 2 NT) nanocomposite material with a coaxial heterojunction structure is constructed by electrodeposting p-type polypyrrole nanowire into n-type TiO 2 nanotubes. Photo-induced open circuit potential, photocurrent density, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and Tafel curves are measured under visible light to evaluate the photocathodic protection effect and anticorrosion properties of the nanocomposite. The results indicate that the synergistic effect between the photogenerated cathodic protection and the favorable corrosion resistance of the nanocomposite makes PPy NW/TiO 2 NTs nanocomposite a promising material for protecting Ti substrate and the coupled 304 stainless steel from corrosion.
