Contains fulltext : 241169.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access), In this paper we focus on the development of professional accountability systems as a form of systemic power to enhance institutional control, particularly on the associated institutional politics – the interplay between institutional control and institutional work by different (collective) actors. We address the dialectical nature of these institutional politics and identify three types of power tactics underpinning institutional work: attacking, anticipating and defending. Articulating these power tactics revealed the dialectical flux of power tactics between different parties, and how this in turn arose from and affected the development and strength of (new) systemic power. This shows how gaining institutional control over mostly self-employed professionals (veterinarians) through systemic power without legislation is a more sophisticated process than often assumed based on studies of professionals working in large service firms.

Hoofdstuk 2 gaat over de geldende (beleids)kaders voor beheer en onderhoud en de leidende principes die hieruit ontstaan. Hoofdstuk 3 beschrijft de streefbeelden die waterschap Aa en Maas nastreeft voor het functioneren van het watersysteem. Het vierde hoofdstuk gaat over de clustering van watergangen. Deze clustering is de basis voor hoofdstuk 5 waarin het onderhoud van het watersysteem beschreven staat. Het resultaat is een beperkt aantal onderhoudspakketten. Hoofdstuk 6 behandelt de financiële aspecten. In dit hoofdstuk staan kengetallen en normbedragen en de financiële doorvertaling voor de beheerplanperiode. In hoofdstuk 7 is de onderhoudsstrategie opgenomen. Tenslotte worden de monitoringsaspecten in hoofdstuk 8 uitgelegd.

Uit recent onderzoek blijkt dat bepaalde cultuurmaatregelen engerlingen afdoden ( Rapport Bestrijding van engerlingen in grasland ). Uit een deskundigendag bleek dat goed beheerd grasland minder gevoelig is voor sc hade door engerlingen. Het is onduidelijk welke aanpak en onder welke omstandigheden een effectieve bijdrage levert aan de schadebeperking. Hoe effectief kunnen deze maatregelen worden ingezet? Kan op basis van kennis een gerichte en daarmee goedkopere bio logische bestrijding met bijvoorbeeld insectparasitaire nematoden worden ingezet? Bij welke soorten en aantallen engerlingen levert het een aceptable beheersing op? Uit gesprekken met landbouwers bleek dat er ook andere ideeën. Pagina 2 van 11 leven om het engerlingenprobl eem aan te pakken. Dit praktijknetwerk heeft het omgaan met engerlingen een nieuwe impuls gegeven. Kennisuitwisseling via dit netwerk heeft tot goede discissies geleidt en nieuwe inzichten zijn opgedaan. Een duurzame oplossing lijkt mogelijk.

Objectives: Gender differences in patients presenting with suspected acute coronary syndromes (ACS) have not yet been fully characterized. The aim of this study was to assess gender-related disparities in clinical profiles, biomarkers and diagnoses of patients with suspected ACS. Methods: This single-centre, prospective cohort study included 377 consecutive patients presenting with suspected ACS to the emergency department. Suspected ACS was defined as a request for conventional troponin T (c-cTnT) measurements on clinical grounds. Results: Women were older than men (p = 0.004), and had a lower prevalence of known coronary artery and peripheral vascular disease (p < 0.05). c-cTnT was positive in 8% of female and in 14% of male patients (p = 0.16), TIMI risk score and cardiac biomarkers including c-cTnT, hs-cTnT, myoglobin, creatine kinase, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, myeloid-related protein 8/14 and pregnancy-associated plasma protein A were lower in women (p < 0.05). Women were less frequently diagnosed with ACS (30 vs. 51%), and were not referred for urgent coronary angiography as often as men (p < 0.001). In multivariate analysis, female gender was associated with a lower referral for coronary angiography (HR 0.41, 95% CI 0.23-0.78, p = 0.006). Conclusions: In patients with suspected ACS, women presented with different biomarker profiles, and were less often diagnosed with ACS and referred to coronary angiography.

The deposition of alternating (sub)monolayers of lanthanum oxide (La2O3) and zirconium oxide (ZrO2) by atomic layer deposition has been carried out to create uniform LayZr1-yOx mixed oxide films. However, spontaneous nucleation of ZrO2 nanocrystals occurs during deposition within an amorphous La2O3 matrix. Such ZrO2 embedded La2O3 films exhibit low leakage currents in combination with higher electric breakdown fields and higher dielectric permittivities than the pure lanthanum and zirconium oxide films. The possible scenarios that account for this enhanced electric performance of these nanocluster-embedded dielectric thin films are explained.

Binnen het stroomgebied de Hooge Raam in Noord-Brabant zijn diverse pilots uitgevoerd om de effecten en kosten voor KRW-maatregelen inzichtelijk te maken. Goede keuzes hierin zijn afhankelijk van voldoende systeemkennis van het stroomgebied. Met dit onderzoek is de kwaliteit van het oppervlaktewater onder verschillende afvoeromstandigheden onderzocht. De resultaten laten zien dat vooral piekafvoeren en de periode daarop volgend een zware belasting zijn voor de kwaliteit van het oppervlaktewater. Hierbij worden twee snelle transportroutes onderscheiden: belasting van het oppervlaktewater vanuit het ondiepe grondwater en belasting vanuit oppervlakkige afstroming voor stoffen die sterk binden aan zwevend stof. In de praktijk zal moeten blijken of de belasting voldoende kan worden gereduceerd door in te grijpen op de snelle transportroutes

We report here on the size-dependent kinetics of exciton recombination in a III–V quantum dot system, InP. The measurements reported include various frequency dependent quantum yields as a function of temperature, frequency dependent luminescence decay curves, and time-gated emission spectra. This data is fit to a three-state quantum model which has been previously utilized to explain photophysical phenomena in II–VI quantum dots. The initial photoexcitation is assumed to place an electron in a (delocalized) bulk conduction band state. Activation barriers for trapping and detrapping of the electron to surface states, as well as activation barriers for surface-state radiationless relaxation processes are measured as a function of particle size. The energy barrier to detrapping is found to be the major factor limiting room temperature band-edge luminescence. This barrier increases with decreasing particle size. For 30 Å particles, this barrier is found to be greater than 6 kJ/mol—a barrier which is more than an order of magnitude larger than that previously found for 32 Å CdS nanocrystals.
