Abstract

The conflict between ethnic and moral decadence are two negative effects of Globalization era that currently occur in Indonesian society. Two things cause it; first, "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" has been forgotten as the local Wisdom of the Indonesian nation that can manage the life of this multiethnic society wisely. Secondly, moral coaching in the scope of the family as the most important social institution in society is not successful. From time to time it will paralyze the strength of a country. The Story in the "Cek Toko Sebelah" (meaning: Please check it in next store) movie implies one of China's teachings to build ideal relationships in family and community life. This is in stark contrast to the ethnic Chinese stereotype in Indonesia, which is always associated with the issue of economic inequality that often leads to discriminatory treatment and leads to conflict between ethnic groups. The representation of the moral values is interesting to study by using semiotic of Roland Barthes. The results of this discussion revealed that the movie "Cek Toko Sebelah" is able to represent accommodative multicultural life with a humorous style. One of the thousands of years old Chinese ideologies is still relevant applied in the story line of today's movies, but its application is adapted to today life, especially about the equality of women and men in the modern era. The happy ending of the story in this film can be an inspiration that tolerance in ethnic diversity is actually easy to do and will result in harmonious social relationships. It can be an inspiration that "single Bhinneka" must be applied in social life so that the Indonesian state remains united.

5. Constructing multi-level urban clusters based on population distributions and interactions

Abstract

A city (or an urban cluster) is not an isolated spatial unit, but a combination of areas with closely linked socio-economic activities. However, so far, we lack a consistent and quantitative approach to define multi-level urban clusters through these socio-economic connections. Here, using granular population distribution and flow data from China, we propose a bottom-up aggregation approach to quantify urban clusters at multiple spatial scales. We reveal six 'phases' (i.e., levels) in the population density-flow diagram, each of which corresponds to a spatial configuration of urban clusters from large to small. Besides, our results show that Zipf's law appears only after the fifth level, confirming the spatially dependent nature of urban laws. Our approach does not need pre-defined administrative boundaries and can be applied effectively on a global scale.

Abstract

The tourism industry is a significant contribution to the economy of many countries, including Pakistan. However, its activities often have a negative impact on the environment, particularly related to climate change. Notably, Pakistan ranks fifth among countries most affected by climate change, which requires a targeted analysis of the tourism sector to determine its potential impacts. Despite the critical nature of this issue, there is currently a lack of research that examines how climate change specifically impacts Pakistan's tourism industry. This study aims to address this gap by using the Tourism Climate Index (TCI) to assess the impact of climate change on the suitability of different tourism locations across the country. Our results show that popular tourist destinations such as Gilgit-Baltistan experience their peak season in the warmer third quarter (summer), which corresponds to the highest observed TCI values. This suggests that warmer temperatures could boost tourism activity and spending in these regions. Furthermore, our analysis shows that air temperature plays a crucial role in determining tourist comfort levels and significantly influences tourists' TCI values and sensory experiences. The results of this study show that the TCI methodology can be an effective tool for further research into the geographical impacts of climate change on tourism. By identifying necessary changes due to climatic changes, future studies could provide valuable insights into how the tourism industry can adapt to and reduce its environmental footprint.

8. Quantifying navigation complexity in transportation networks

Abstract

The complexity of navigation in cities has increased with the expansion of urban areas, creating challenging transportation problems that drive many studies on the navigability of networks. However, due to the lack of individual mobility data, large-scale empirical analysis of the wayfinder's real-world navigation is rare. Here, using 225 million subway trips from three major cities in China, we quantify navigation difficulty from an information perspective. Our results reveal that 1) people conserve a small number of repeatedly used routes, and 2) the navigation information in the subnetworks formed by those routes is much smaller than the theoretical value in the global network, suggesting that the decision cost for actual trips is significantly smaller than the theoretical upper limit found in previous studies. By modeling routing behaviors in growing networks, we show that while the global network becomes difficult to navigate, navigability can be improved in subnetworks. We further present a universal linear relationship between the empirical and theoretical search information, which allows the two metrics to predict each other. Our findings demonstrate how large-scale observations can quantify real-world navigation behaviors and aid in evaluating transportation planning.

12. Quantifying urban areas with multi-source data based on percolation theory

Abstract

Quantifying urban areas is crucial for addressing associated urban issues such as environmental and sustainable problems. Remote sensing data, especially the nighttime light images, have been widely used to delineate urbanized areas across the world. Meanwhile, some emerging urban data, such as volunteered geographical information (e.g., OpenStreetMap) and social sensing data (e.g., mobile phone and social media), have also shown great potential in revealing urban boundaries and dynamics. However, consistent and robust methods to quantify urban areas from these multi-source data have remained elusive. Here, we propose a percolation-based method to extract urban areas from these multi-source urban data. We derive the optimal urban/non-urban threshold by considering the critical nature of urban systems with the support of the percolation theory. Furthermore, we apply the method with three open-source datasets - population, road, and nighttime light - to 28 countries. We show that the proposed method captures the similar urban characteristics in terms of urban areas from multi-source data, and Zipf's law holds well in most countries. The accuracy of the derived urban areas by different datasets has been validated with the Landsat-based reference data in 10 cities, and the accuracy can be further improved through data fusion ($\kappa=0.69-0.85$, mean $\kappa=0.78$). Abstract

ObjectiveA model of Near Infrared Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (NIR-DRS) was established for the first time to determine the content of Shengmaxinside I in the honey-fried processing of Rhizoma Cimicifugae.MethodsShengmaxinside I content was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and the data of the honey-fried processing of Rhizoma Cimicifugae samples from different batches of different origins by NIR-DRS were collected by TQ Analyst 8.0. Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis was used to establish a near-infrared quantitative model.ResultsThe determination coefficient R² was 0.9878. The Cross-Validation Root Mean Square Error (RMSECV) was 0.0193%, validating the model with a validation set. The Root Mean Square Error of Prediction (RMSEP) was 0.1064%. The ratio of the standard deviation for the validation samples to the standard error of prediction (RPD) was 5.5130.ConclusionThis method is convenient and efficient, and the experimentally established model has good prediction ability, and can be used for the rapid determination of Shengmaxinside I content in the honey-fried processing of Rhizoma Cimicifugae.

21. Delineating Intra-Urban Spatial Connectivity Patterns by Travel-Activities: A Case Study of Beijing, China

Abstract

Travel activities have been widely applied to quantify spatial interactions between places, regions and nations. In this paper, we model the spatial connectivities between 652 Traffic Analysis Zones (TAZs) in Beijing by a taxi OD dataset. First, we unveil the gravitational structure of intra-urban spatial connectivities of Beijing. On overall, the inter-TAZ interactions are well governed by the Gravity Model $G_{ij} = {\lambda}p_{i}p_{j}/d_{ij}$, where $p_{i}$, $p_{j}$ are degrees of TAZ $i$, $j$ and $d_{ij}$ the distance between them, with a goodness-of-fit around 0.8. Second, the network based analysis well reveals the polycentric form of Beijing. Last, we detect the semantics of inter-TAZ connectivities based on their spatiotemporal patterns. We further find that inter-TAZ connections deviating from the Gravity Model can be well explained by link semantics., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

This article analyzes Lü Dagui's 呂大圭 (1227-1275) conclusion that the compositional techniques of consistent terminology and unique expression were used to make differences in the Chunqiu's 春秋 original categories become universal. Following this line of thought leads to an understanding of the flow of worldly change in the text. In addition, the fact that specificity is selected from universality, and that ethical principles are derived from unique expressions, proves not only that Confucius established right and wrong as well as good and evil through his composition of the Chunqiu, but also that he used the text to define heavenly principle and the human mind. Lü's interpretative methodology continued many of Zhu Xi's 朱熹 (1130-1200) basic ideas regarding the text, and established a balance between the general and the unique that integrated theories from other schools. In terms of continuation and succession, Lü can be said to have developed a new approach, which he expanded into a more complete interpretative system, and which served as an important forerunner of the “compromise and unity” school of the Yuan dynasty. 29. The Structure of the Chapter of Chi-wu-lun in Chuang-Tsu : especially the latter half of this chapter

Abstract

This paper is a part of the series of my research on Chuang-Tsu. In another paper I related the first half of Chi-wu-lun. The first half consists of one long story. I came to the conclusion that the original works of Chuang-Chou (荘周) are included in this story, and I guess this part is written in record style like the form of Lao-tsu (老子). So in this paper I argue about the latter half of this chapter. The latter half consists of four stories. I insist that the second story in the latter half also has the records of Chuang-Chou. In this paper I also research the structure of each story of the latter half of this chapter. Each of these stories is independent. The result of my research is that this chapter was edited in a later period, and the works by Chuang-Tsu are actually included, but are only a part of this chapter. And also I believe that the innner chapters of Chuang-Tsu (荘子内篇) are not the works of Chuang-Chou, except some parts of a chapter of Chi-wu-lun.

Many important functions, such as basic create, retrieve, update, and delete operations, full text search and download functions, can be achieved through this management system. Even the function of statistics and analysis for certain professional data can be provided. Finally, a few hundred gigabytes of data from numerous different disciplines were integrated, stored, and managed successfully. Meanwhile, the management system can also provide a significant reference for data management work of related research fields, such as decommissioning and management of nuclear facilities, resource prospection and environmental protection.

Abstract

Cultivated land is the oldest and most extensive human-land system formed by human civilization through the transformation of the earth's surface for thousands of years. The ability of cultivated land system to maintain stable production and healthy environment is reflected in the quality characteristics of cultivated land, under certain technical and economic conditions within a certain period of time, and the development and utilization value is expressed as the resource attribute of cultivated land. This paper clarifies the cultivated land system, the quality of cultivated land and cultivated land resources, on the basis of cognitive connotation and evolution process. The "nature-humanity" constituent elements and their coupling relationship of cultivated land resources are analyzed, characteristics and formation mechanism of "horizontal-vertical" structure, "production-ecology-living" function synergy and transformation relationship. The exchange process and response mechanism of "matter-energy-information", and the service value and evolution law of "economy-ecologysociety", the cognitive system of cultivated land resources is constructed, which is "two-dimensional factor-triple function-multiple value". A new way of systematically recognizing cultivated land resources is proposed, deconstructing the internal mechanism and external value of cultivated land resources, service farmland protection and quality improvement and natural resource assets "two unified" management, to support the construction of a new pattern of resource utilization and cultivated land protection under high-quality crossdomain development.

Abstract

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a deadly disease, and its post‐transcriptional gene regulation mechanism remains unclear. The abundant extracellular matrix (ECM) in PC plays an important role in tumor progression. This study is the first to focus on the role of N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) RNA methylation, an emerging post‐transcriptional regulatory mechanism, in the regulation of the ECM in PC. Here, we found that ADAMTS2, COL12A1, and THBS2 were associated with the prognosis of PC by comprehensive analysis of differentially expressed genes from two independent GEO expression profile datasets and m6A‐related genes in RMVar database (PAAD). GO and KEGG enrichment analysis found that these m6A‐related targets are chiefly functionally concentrated in the ECM region and participate in ECM signal transduction. Correlation analysis revealed that these genes can be regulated by the demethylase FTO. Cell biology function assays showed that knockdown of FTO‐inhibited PC cell abilities to migrate and invade in vitro. qRT‐PCR and MeRIP experiments showed that after knockdown of FTO, the mRNA levels of ADAMTS2, COL12A1, and THBS2 and their m6A modification levels were significantly reduced. These results indicate that m6A RNA demethylation is associated with the regulation of ECM in PC. In conclusion, m6A RNA demethylase FTO regulates ECM‐related genes and promotes PC cell abilities to migrate and invade, our work provides a new perspective on the molecular mechanism of PC progression. Abstract

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most fatal cancers with a very poor prognosis. Here, we found that N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA demethylase fat mass and obesity-related protein (FTO) promote the growth, migration and invasion of PC. FTO expression level is increased in human PC and is associated with poor prognosis of PC patients. Knockdown of FTO increases m6A methylation of TFPI-2 mRNA in PC cells, thereby increasing mRNA stability via the m6A reader YTHDF1, resulting in up-regulation of TFPI-2 expression, and inhibits PC proliferation, colony formation, sphere formation, migration and invasion in vitro, as well as tumour growth in vivo. Rescue assay further confirms that FTO facilitates cancer progression by reducing the expression of TFPI-2. Mechanistically, FTO promotes the progression of PC at least partially through reducing m6A/YTHDF1 mediated TFPI-2 mRNA stability. Our findings reveal that FTO, as an m6A demethylase, plays a critical role in promoting PC growth, migration and invasion, suggesting that FTO may be a potential therapeutic target for treating PC.
