Ovarian cancer is characterized by insidious onset and poor prognosis, and among gynecological malignancies, its mortality rate ranks first, which poses a serious threat to women's health worldwide. In recent years, increasing evidence has suggested that modifiable lifestyle factors, particularly dietary factors, played important roles in the prognosis of ovarian cancer. As important nutrients, dietary fats and fatty acids can affect various vital physiological functions in human beings. However, the association of dietary fat and fatty acid intake with the prognosis of ovarian cancer remains unclear. Therefore, this review aims to analyze the existing epidemiological evidence between the two variables by searching the literature to provide dietary suggestions for ovarian cancer patients.

Researchers apply the machine learning to the clinical diagnosis and prognosis research of ovarian cancer. This article reviews the applications of machine learning in ovarian cancers. The results show that the predictive ability of machine learning models is better than traditional statistical models, but further test and verification are needed in prospective large-scale studies.

Ovarian cancer poses a serious threat to the health of women's lives. The incidence of ovarian cancer is related to heredity, endocrine disorders and adverse lifestyle factors. In recent years, some scholars have carried out the impact of lifestyle, especially shift work, on the occurrence and development of ovarian cancer. Shift work can lead to circadian disruption, which affects hormonal balance in the body and may be a risk factor for ovarian cancer. This review summarizes four cohort studies and two case-control studies on the relation between shift work and ovarian cancer. The conclusion of the studies is inconsistent, suggesting that further researches are needed.

Objective To explore the relationship of lupus nephritis (LN) with different pathological types with disease activity and prognosis, and investigate the risk factors of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Methods A total of 305 pathologically-confirmed LN patients admitted in our hospital from the year of 2013 to 2018 were retrospectively enrolled in this study. According to the results of renal biopsy, they were divided into mesangial hypercellularity LN (including 146 cases of LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ and 106 cases of LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ+Ⅴ) and non-mesangial hypercellularity LN (53 cases of LN-Ⅱ/Ⅴ). The disease activity and prognosis of the patients with different pathological types were compared, and the risk factors of ESRD were explored. Results There were more patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) ≥10 (66.3% vs 45.3%), occurrences of serositis, hair loss, anemia, higher serum creatinine, hematuria, and ESRD, and manifestations of anti-dsDNA antibody and anti-AnuA antibody in the LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ patients (with or without LN-Ⅴ) than the LN-Ⅱ/Ⅴ patients (P < 0.05). The cumulative incidence of ESRD was 14.4%, and LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ(with or without LN-Ⅴ), as well as anti-dsDNA antibody, higher serum creatinine, and SLEDAI ≥10, was identified as independent risk factors for ESRD (OR=2.977, 1.722, 5.484, 2.070). But there was no statistical difference in survival time among different pathological types (P>0.05). Conclusion The LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ patients (with or without LN-Ⅴ) have higher disease activity, severer impairment both in inside and outside of the kidney, and higher risk of progression to ESRD.

Numerous epidemiological studies have explored the relationship between meat intake and risk as well as prognosis of ovarian cancer. This paper reviews aforementioned topic.

The study was to evaluate the reproducibility and validity of the FFQ for residents of northeast China. A total of 131 participants completed two FFQ (FFQ1 and FFQ2) within a 3-month period, 125 participants completed 8-d weighed diet records (WDR) and 112 participants completed blood biomarker testing. Reproducibility was measured by comparing nutrient and food intake between FFQ1 and FFQ2. The validity of the FFQ was assessed by WDR and the triad method. The Spearman correlation coefficients (SCC) and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) for reproducibility ranged from 0·41 to 0·69 (median = 0·53) and from 0·18 to 0·68 (median = 0·53) for energy and nutrients and from 0·37 to 0·73 (median = 0·59) and from 0·33 to 0·86 (median = 0·60) for food groups, respectively. The classifications of same or adjacent quartiles ranged from 73·64 to 93·80 % for both FFQ. The crude SCC between the FFQ and WDR ranged from 0·27 to 0·55 (median = 0·46) for the energy and nutrients and from 0·26 to 0·70 (median = 0·52) for food groups, and classifications of the same or adjacent quartiles ranged from 65·32 to 86·29 %. The triad method indicated that validation coefficients for the FFQ were above 0·3 for most nutrients, which indicated a moderate or high level of validity. The FFQ that was developed for residents of northeast China for the Northeast Cohort Study of China is reliable and valid for assessing the intake of most foods and nutrients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The intake of each nutrient was calculated using the Chinese Food Composition Tables, by first multiplying the quantity (grams) of each food and beverage item consumed by their nutrient content per gram, and then adding the nutrient contributions from all food items. We also collected data on the intake of 110 food items by using a validated FFQ for most of the participants; this allowed us to explore the associations between intake of food items and nutrients, as well as dietary patterns and health outcomes.
