High‐frequency (HF) square‐wave voltage injection position sensorless control method for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is widely utilised in zero and low speed range due to its good dynamic performance and easy implementation. However, this method relies on the sampling accuracy of current sensors for rotor position estimation. To overcome this restriction, an HF square‐wave voltage injection position sensorless control method for IPMSM using a single current sensor (SCS) is proposed. Firstly, the impact of current sampling errors on HF square‐wave voltage injection position sensorless control is analysed, and it is concluded that the scaling errors of current sensors will cause the estimated position to oscillate at twice the fundamental frequency. Based on this conclusion, the phase currents reconstruction technology with SCS is adopted to avoid the impact of scaling errors on rotor position estimation. To reconstruct the phase currents containing HF component, a PWM cycle is divided into two parts, sampling stage and injection stage. By this way, the impact of HF square‐wave voltage injection on current reconstruction can be avoided. Then, the rotor position estimation is realised. The experiments are performed on a 20‐kW IPMSM platform and the results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, the analytical relationship among supply voltage, current, and structure parameters of the permanent magnet (PM) motor is cleverly deduced by using an intermediate‐flux linkage. After further consideration of boundary conditions, the direct field‐circuit coupled analytical model in integrated matrix form is subsequently constructed. Using this model, the vector potentials and currents of the motor can be calculated simultaneously, and the electromagnetic performance, such as the output torque, winding flux linkage, and so on can be further calculated by the vector potentials. Because the control parameters and motor structure parameters are both considered in the derivation process, the proposed analytical model can be used to analyse the motor operation performance under different control strategies. Its validity is finally verified on a 10‐pole/12‐slot PM motor. The results of the proposed direct field‐circuit coupled analytical model are compared with those of field‐circuit coupled time‐stepping finite element model and experiment under speed‐current double closed‐loop and current closed‐loop control strategies, respectively. A control strategy based on single current sensor is proposed for a four-switch three-phase brushless dc (BLDC) motor system to lower cost and improve performance. The system's whole working process is divided into two groups. In modes 2, 3, 5, and 6, where phase c works, phase-c current is sensed to control phases a and b, and phase-c current is consequently regulated. In modes 1 and 4, the combination of four suboperating modes for controlling phase-c current is proposed based on detailed analysis on the different rules that these operating modes have on phase-c current. Phase-c current is maintained at nearly zero level first, and phase-a and phase-b currents are regulated by speed circle. To improve control performance, a single-neuron adaptive proportional--integral (PI) algorithm is adopted to realize the speed regulator. Simulation and experimental systems are set up to verify the proposed strategy. According to simulation and experimental results, the proposed strategy shows good self-adapted track ability with low current ripple and strong robustness to the given speed reference model. In this paper, the finite-element method (FEM) is used to calculate the spinning torque of the permanent-magnet (PM) spherical motor. Three-dimensional (3-D) FE model of the PM spherical motor is established. Spinning torque distribution on the spherical surface and its variation curve on the equator are obtained respectively. In order to avoid the complicated torque calculation process under 3-D magnetic field and thus reduce the computational burden, the torque calculation method based on the 2-D conversion model is proposed. This method equivalently simplifies the magnetic field of the spherical PMs and the shape of cylindrical stator windings to be simulation parameters of the 2-D conversion model. With these parameters, 2-D conversion model of the PM spherical motor is established. Spinning torque variation curves obtained by the 3-D model and the 2-D conversion model respectively are compared and the results agree extremely well. By comparing the maximum static torque (MST) obtained under different configuration parameters of the PM spherical motor, it is found that the errors are within the allowable range. Therefore, the reliability of the proposed torque calculation method in the paper is verified. Finally, based on the 2-D conversion model, variation curves of the MST with the length of the air gap, the ampere turns, the length of stator windings and the outer radius of stator windings are obtained, and they are validated by those based on the 3-D model. These results can provide the basis for the optimization of the PM spherical motor. The output performance of three-level inverters will be deteriorated under two-phase loads condition if conventional discontinuous PWM (DPWM) strategies are adopted. To solve the above issue, the amplitude and the phase angle of basic voltage vectors are modified in this article. Accordingly, sectors and triangles of the space vector diagram are reconsidered, duty cycles of basic vectors synthesized the reference vector are recalculated. And then four types of DPWM applicable for two-phase load are put forward. Although the harmonic distortion of the output waveform is reduced, discontinuous intervals are not optimum distributed. To further improve the output waveform quality, the amplitude of average current ripple vector is introduced as the evaluation index to redistribute discontinuous intervals of phase voltage in each fundamental period. Then, a hybrid DPWM strategy is presented and the harmonic distortion of the output waveform is minimized. Meanwhile, the neutral-point voltage ripple and the switching loss are also suppressed. The effectiveness of the hybrid DPWM strategy is verified by both simulation and experimental results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
