The calculation of nuclear electromagnetic sum rules by directly diagonalizing the nuclear Hamiltonian in a large basis is numerically challenging and has not been performed for $A>2$ nuclei. With the significant progress of high performance computing, we show that calculating sum rules using numerous discretized continuum states obtained by directly diagonalizing the ab initio no-core shell model Hamiltonian is achievable numerically. Specifically, we calculate the $^{4}$He electric dipole ($E1$) polarizability, that is an inverse energy weighted sum rule, employing the Daejeon16 $NN$ interaction. We demonstrate that the calculations are numerically tractable as the dimension of the basis increases and are convergent. Our results for the $^{4}$He electric dipole polarizability are consistent with the most recent experimental data and are compared with those of other theoretical studies employing different techniques and various interactions.

We propose a hybrid quantum-classical framework to solve the elastic scattering phase shift of two well-bound nuclei in an uncoupled channel. Within this framework, we develop a many-body formalism in which the continuum scattering states of the two colliding nuclei are regulated by a weak external harmonic oscillator potential with varying strength. Based on our formalism, we propose an approach to compute the eigenenergies of the low-lying scattering states of the relative motion of the colliding nuclei as a function of the oscillator strength of the confining potential. Utilizing the modified effective range expansion, we extrapolate the elastic scattering phase shift of the colliding nuclei from these eigenenergies to the limit when the external potential vanishes. In our hybrid approach, we leverage the advantage of quantum computing to solve for these eigenenergies from a set of many-nucleon Hamiltonian eigenvalue problems. These eigenenergies are inputs to classical computers to obtain the phase shift. We demonstrate our framework with two simple problems, where we implement the rodeo algorithm to solve the relevant eigenenergies with the IBM Qiskit quantum simulator. In heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies, the production and propagation of $\Delta$ particles are crucial to understanding the nuclear equation of state and inferring the properties of nuclear matter at high densities. Based on the self-consistent relativistic Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (RBUU) transport theory, by introducing the isovector $\rho$ meson exchange into the effective Lagrangian and adopting the density-dependent coupling constants, the detailed expressions for isospin-dependent in-medium $N\Delta\rightarrow N\Delta$ elastic cross sections $\sigma_{N\Delta}^{*}$ have been calculated. The energy and density dependence of the isospin-related $\sigma_{N\Delta}^{*}$ as well as the total contributions of $\sigma$, $\omega$ and $\rho$ meson fields are analyzed. It is found that the total $\sigma_{N\Delta}^{*}$ has a sensitive center-of-mass energy dependence at lower energies while exhibiting a slight increase as the center-of-mass energy increases. The isospin effect between different isospin-separated channels weakens as the energy and/or density increases. The isospin effect on the density- and energy-dependent in-medium $N\Delta$ elastic cross sections is dominantly caused by the delicate balance of the isovector $\rho$ meson exchange.

We employ the non-perturbative time-dependent basis function (tBF) approach to investigate in detail the sub-Coulomb barrier scattering of the deuteron projectile on the $^{208}$Pb target. Specifically, we treat the target as a quiescent source of a strong external Coulomb field that induces higher-order effects in electric-dipole excitations of the deuteron projectile including the population of states not accessible through direct electric-dipole transitions from the ground state of the deuteron. We calculate the electric-dipole polarizability of the deuteron and elastic scattering observables for comparison with experimental data. With no adjustable parameters, the tBF approach provides good agreement with experimentally available differential cross-section ratios. The dependence of these measured quantities on nucleon-nucleon interactions is investigated. The effects of the polarization potential on the scattering observables are also presented in this work. The inner operations of the human brain as a biological processing system remain largely a mystery. Inspired by the function of the human brain and based on the analysis of simple neural network systems in other species, such as Drosophila, neuromorphic computing systems have attracted considerable interest. In cellular-level connectomics research, we can identify the characteristics of biological neural network, called population, which constitute not only recurrent fullyconnection in network, also an external-stimulus and selfconnection in each neuron. Relying on low data bandwidth of spike transmission in network and input data, Spiking Neural Networks exhibit low-latency and low-power design. In this study, we proposed a configurable population-based digital spiking neuromorphic processor in 180nm process technology with two configurable hierarchy populations. Also, these neurons in the processor can be configured as novel models, integer quadratic integrate-and-fire neuron models, which contain an unsigned 8-bit membrane potential value. The processor can implement intelligent decision making for avoidance in real-time. Moreover, the proposed approach enables the developments of biomimetic neuromorphic system and various low-power, and low-latency inference processing applications.

The sparsely-gated Mixture of Experts (MoE) can magnify a network capacity with a little computational complexity. In this work, we investigate how multi-lingual Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) networks can be scaled up with a simple routing algorithm in order to achieve better accuracy. More specifically, we apply the sparsely-gated MoE technique to two types of networks: Sequence-to-Sequence Transformer (S2S-T) and Transformer Transducer (T-T). We demonstrate through a set of ASR experiments on multiple language data that the MoE networks can reduce the relative word error rates by 16.3% and 4.6% with the S2S-T and T-T, respectively. Moreover, we thoroughly investigate the effect of the MoE on the T-T architecture in various conditions: streaming mode, non-streaming mode, the use of language ID and the label decoder with the MoE.

An exact treatment of the operators Q/e(\omega) and the total momentum is adopted to solve the nuclear matter Bruecker-Bethe-Goldstone equation with two- and three-body forces. The single-particle potential, equation of state and nucleon effective mass are calculated from the exact G-matrix. The results are compared with those obtained under the angle-average approximation and the angle-average approximation with total momentum approximation. It is found that the angle-average procedure, whereas preventing huge calculations of coupled channels, nevertheless provides a fairly accurate approximation. On the contrary, the total momentum approximation turns out to be quite inaccurate compared to its exact counterpart.

The coexistence of neutron-neutron (n-n), proton-proton (p-p), and neutron-proton (n-p) pairings is investigated by adopting an effective density-dependent contact pairing potential. These three types of pairings can coexist only if the n-p pairing is stronger than the n-n and p-p pairings for isospin asymmetric nuclear matter. In addition, the existence of n-n and p-p pairs might enhance n-p pairings in asymmetric nuclear matter when the n-p pairing strength is significantly stronger than the n-n and p-p ones. Conversely, the n-p pairing is reduced by the n-n and p-p pairs when the n-p pairing interaction approaches n-n and p-p pairings.

Background: Solving nuclear many-body problems with an ab initio approach is widely recognized as a computationally challenging problem. Quantum computers offer a promising path to address this challenge. There are urgent needs to develop quantum algorithms for this purpose. Objective: In this work, we explore the application of the quantum algorithm of adiabatic state preparation with quantum phase estimation in ab initio nuclear structure theory. We focus on solving the low-lying spectra (including both the ground and excited states) of simple nuclear systems. Ideas: The efficiency of this algorithm is hindered by the emergence of small energy gaps (level crossings) during the adiabatic evolution. In order to improve the efficiency, we introduce techniques to avoid level crossings: 1) by suitable design of the reference Hamiltonian; 2) by insertions of perturbation terms to modify the adiabatic path. Results: We illustrate this algorithm by solving the deuteron ground state energy and the spectrum of the deuteron bounded in a harmonic oscillator trap implementing the IBM Qiskit quantum simulator. The quantum results agree well the classical results obtained by matrix diagonalization. Outlook: With our improvements to the efficiency, this algorithm provides a promising tool for investigating the low-lying spectra of complex nuclei on future quantum computers., Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures, 1 table

We investigate the density distributions of finite nuclei employing a well-designed deep neural network method. We calculate the target nucleon density distributions with Skyrme density functional theories, which are used to train the networks. We find that the training with only about $10\%$ nuclei ($300-400$) is sufficient to describe the nucleon density distributions of all the nuclear chart within 2\% relative error. The relative error comes to 5\% when about 200 proton(neutron) density distributions are used for training. We obtained very similar results for different Skyrme density functional theories. Therefore the ability to train networks is weakly dependent on the theoretical model. Moreover, in the process of machine learning, there is a turning point showing the transition from the Fermi-like distribution to the realistic Skyrme distribution, which provides significant properties of convergence process., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

Anomaly detection in time series has been widely researched and has important practical applications. In recent years, anomaly detection algorithms are mostly based on deep-learning generative models and use the reconstruction error to detect anomalies. They try to capture the distribution of normal data by reconstructing normal data in the training phase, then calculate the reconstruction error of test data to do anomaly detection. However, most of them only use the normal data in the training phase and can not ensure the reconstruction process of anomaly data. So, anomaly data can also be well reconstructed sometimes and gets low reconstruction error, which leads to the omission of anomalies. What's more, the neighbor information of data points in time series data has not been fully utilized in these algorithms. In this paper, we propose RAN based on the idea of Reconstruct Anomalies to Normal and apply it for unsupervised time series anomaly detection. To minimize the reconstruction error of normal data and maximize this of anomaly data, we do not just ensure normal data to reconstruct well, but also try to make the reconstruction of anomaly data consistent with the distribution of normal data, then anomalies will get higher reconstruction errors. We implement this idea by introducing the "imitated anomaly data" and combining a specially designed latent vector-constrained Autoencoder with the discriminator to construct an adversary network. Extensive experiments on time-series datasets from different scenes such as ECG diagnosis also show that RAN can detect meaningful anomalies, and it outperforms other algorithms in terms of AUC-ROC.

We study a problem of $\pi$ production in heavy ion collisions in the context of the Isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (IBUU) transport model. We generated nucleon densities using two different models, the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock (SHF) model and configuration interaction shell model (SM). Indeed, inter-nucleon correlations are explicitly taken into account in SM, while they are averaged in the SHF model. As an application of our theoretical frameworks, we calculated the $\pi^{-}$ and $\pi^{+}$ yields in collisions of nuclei with $A = 30-40$ nucleons. We used different harmonic oscillator lengths $b_{HO}$ to generate the harmonic oscillator basis for SM in order to study both theoretical and experimental cases. It is found that SM framework with $b_{HO}$ = 2.5 fm and SHF can be distinguished by the yield of $\pi$ mesons, in this case the density distribution calculated by the shell model produces more $\pi$ in the collision. In comparison, SM with $b_{HO}$ = 2.0 fm is characterized from SHF by the double $\pi^{-}/\pi^{+}$ ratios with different large impact parameters, from which one can find the double $\pi^{-}/\pi^{+}$ ratios of SM change smoother and are less than those of SHF., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

Based on the isospin dependent transport model IBUU, the pion production and its absorption are thoroughly studied in the central collision of $Au+Au$ at a beam energy of 400 MeV/nucleon. It is found that the pions are firstly produced by the hard $\Delta$ decay at the average density around $1.75\rho_{0}$, whereas about 18\% of them are absorbed absolutely in the subsequent inelastic collisions. For the free pions observed, more than half of them have been scattered for one or more times before they are free from matter. And the more scattering numbers of pions, the higher the momentum they possess. These pions, due to longer time of their existence in high density nuclear matter, carry more information about the symmetry energy of the nuclear matter at high densities., Comment: 6 pages, 8 figures

We present a time-dependent quantum algorithm for nuclear inelastic scattering in the time-dependent basis function on qubits approach. This algorithm aims to quantum simulate a subset of the nuclear inelastic scattering problems that are of physical interest, in which the internal degrees of freedom of the reaction system are excited by time-dependent external interactions. We expect that our algorithm will enable an exponential speedup in simulating the dynamics of the subset of the inelastic scattering problems, which would also be advantageous for the applications to more complicated scattering problems. The Gamow shell model is utilized to describe nuclear observables of the weakly bound and resonance isotonic states of $^{16}$O at proton drip-line. It is hereby shown that the presence of continuum coupling leads to complex Coulomb contributions in the spectrum of these isotones. The necessity to include the effects of three-body forces, either by a direct calculation or by adding an $A$-dependence to the nucleon-nucleon interaction, already noticed in other theoretical models, is pointed out. The existence of multi-neutron systems has always been a debatable question. Indeed, both inter-nucleon correlations and a large continuum coupling occur in these states. We then employ the ab-initio no-core Gamow shell model to calculate the resonant energies and widths of the trineutron and tetraneutron systems with realistic interactions. Our results indicate that trineutron and tetraneutron are both unbound and bear broad widths. The calculated energy and width of tetraneutron are also comparable with recent experimental data. Moreover, our calculations suggest that the energy of trineutron is lower than that of tetraneutron, while its resonance width is also narrower. This strongly suggests that trineutron is more likely to be experimentally observed than tetraneutron. We employ the non-perturbative time-dependent basis function (tBF) approach to study the scattering of the deuteron on $^{208}$Pb below the Coulomb barrier. We obtain the bound and discretized scattering states of the projectile, which form the basis representation of the tBF approach, by diagonalizing a realistic Hamiltonian in a large harmonic oscillator basis. We find that the higher-order inelastic scattering effects are noticeable for sub barrier scatterings with the tBF method. We have successfully reproduced experimental sub Coulomb barrier elastic cross section ratios with the tBF approach by considering only the electric dipole ($\mathit{E1}$) component of the Coulomb interaction between the projectile and the target during scatterings. We find that the correction of the polarization potential to the Rutherford trajectory is dominant in reproducing the data at very low bombarding energies, whereas the role of internal transitions of the deuteron projectile induced by the $\mathit{E1}$ interaction during the scattering becomes increasingly significant at higher bombarding energies., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, 1 table

The dynamical mechanism of multinucleon transfer (MNT) reactions has been investigated within the dinuclear system (DNS) model, in which the sequential nucleon transfer is described by solving a set of microscopically derived master equations. Production cross sections, total kinetic energy spectra, angular distribution of formed fragments in the reactions of $^{124,132}$Sn+ $^{238}$U/$^{248}$Cm near Coulomb barrier energies are thoroughly analyzed. It is found that the total kinetic energies of primary fragments are dissipated from the relative motion energy and rotational energy of the two colliding nuclei. The fragments are formed in the forward angle domain. The energy dependence of the angular spectra is different between projectile-like and target-like fragments. Isospin equilibrium is governed under the potential energy surface. The self-energy effect on the neutron-proton (np) pairing gap is investigated up to the third order within the framework of the extend Bruecker-Hartree-Fock (BHF) approach combined with the BCS theory. The self-energy up to the second-order contribution turns out to reduce strongly the effective energy gap, while the \emph{renormalization} term enhances it significantly. In addition, the effect of the three-body force on the np pairing gap is shown to be negligible. To connect the present results with the np pairing in finite nuclei, an effective density-dependent zero-range pairing force is established with the parameters calibrated to the microscopically calculated energy gap.

In the framework of the isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck transport model, nuclear bubble configuration in the hypothetical $^{48}$Si nucleus is studied by proton induced central reaction at an incident beam energy of 0.8 GeV/nucleon. It is found that along the beam direction more energetic protons are emitted with bubble configuration in the target. In the forward angles, compared with the case without bubble configuration, less scattered energetic protons are emitted with bubble configuration in the target. Recently, the BESIII Collaboration reported a new measurement of the $\eta_c \rho$ decay mode of $Z_c^{(\prime)}$, which motivated us to study the inner structure of $Z_c^{(\prime)}$ via investigating the hidden charm decays of these two $Z_c$ states. We consider the {triangle loop mechanism} contribution in the hidden charm decays of $Z_c^{(\prime)}$. Our estimations indicate that the triangle loop mechanism plays an important role in the decays of the $Z_c^{(\prime)}$, where our results are in agreement with the experimental observations in a reasonable parameter range. Furthermore, we point out that the $Z_c^{(\prime)}$ can be interpreted as the hadronic molecules, while the tetraquark scenario is less favored.
