BackgroundSo far, there have been no published population studies on the relationship between a COVID-19 infection and public risk perception, information source, knowledge, attitude, and behaviors during the COVID-19 outbreak in China. ObjectiveThis study aims to understand the relationships between COVID-19 infection; four personal nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs; handwashing, proper coughing habits, social distancing, and mask wearing); and public risk perception, knowledge, attitude, and other social demographic variables. MethodsAn online survey of 8158 Chinese adults between February 22 and March 5, 2020, was conducted. Bivariate associations between categorical variables were examined using Fisher exact test. We also explored the determinants of four NPIs as well as their association with COVID-19 infection using logistic regression. ResultsOf 8158 adults included, 57 (0.73%) were infected with COVID-19. The overwhelming majority of respondents showed a positive attitude (n=8094, 99.2%), positive risk perception (n=8146, 99.9%), and high knowledge levels that were among the strongest predictors of the four adopted NPIs (handwashing: n=7895, 96.8%; proper coughing: 5997/6444, 93.1%; social distancing: n=7104/8158, 87.1%; and mask wearing: 5011/5120, 97.9%). There was an increased risk of COVID-19 infection for those who did not wash their hands (2.28% vs 0.65%; risk ratio [RR] 3.53, 95% CI 1.53-8.15; P=.009), did not practice proper coughing (1.79% vs 0.73%; RR 2.44, 95% CI 1.15-5.15; P=.03), did not practice social distancing (1.52% vs 0.58%; RR 2.63, 95% CI 1.48-4.67; P=.002), and did not wear a mask (7.41% vs 0.6%; RR 12.38, 95% CI 5.81-26.36; P

Pteroceltis tatarinowii Maxim is a famous paper-making tree endemic to China with a wide distribution. Leaves of this tree growing in different habitats show a certain plasticity, which is important for their ecological adaption. Here, the photosynthesis ability, hydraulic properties, and anatomy of P. tatarinowii leaves from a limestone forest (Langya Mountain) and a cultivated forest (Xiaoling Village) in Anhui province were compared. The results showed that leaves from Xiaoling Village had higher net photosynthesis rate and hydraulic conductivity, which were closely related to their higher vein density, stomatal density and palisade tissue thickness than leaves from Langya Mountain. However, lower leaf water potentials at turgor loss point and at 50% loss of conductivity, as well as a higher leaf hardness, for Langya Mountain leaves indicated their higher hydraulic safety and drought resistance than those of leaves from Xiaoling Village. This study reveals a hydraulic trade-off between efficiency and safety for P. tatarinowii leaves growing in distinct habitats. Further studies should include more habitats and different vegetation communities to clarify the ecological adaption so as to provide a scientific basis for the protection of this species. The subtropical forests of East Asia are renowned for their high plant diversity, particularly the abundance of ancient relict species. However, both the evolutionary history of these relict species and their capacity for resilience in the face of impending climatic changes remain unclear. Using whole‐genome resequencing data, we investigated the lineage differentiation and demographic history of the relict and endangered tree, Bretschneidera sinensis (Akaniaceae). We employed a combination of population genomic and landscape genomic approaches to evaluate variation in mutation load and genomic offset, aiming to predict how different populations may respond to climate change. Our analysis revealed a profound genomic divergence between the East and West lineages, likely as the result of recurrent bottlenecks due to climatic fluctuations during the glacial period. Furthermore, we identified several genes potentially linked to growth characteristics and hypoxia response that had been subjected to positive selection during the lineage differentiation. Our assessment of genomic vulnerability uncovered a significantly higher mutation load and genomic offset in the edge populations of B. sinensis compared to their core counterparts. This implies that the edge populations are likely to experience the most significant impact from the predicted climate conditions. Overall, our research sheds light on the historical lineage differentiation and contemporary genomic vulnerability of B. sinensis. Broadening our understanding of the speciation history and future resilience of relict and endangered species such as B. sinensis, is crucial in developing effective conservation strategies in anticipation of future climatic changes. For the hilly-plain-wetland complex ecosystem in the cold region of Northeast China, in order to solve the problems, which include the scarcity of surface rainfall stations and the inability to provide accurate surface precipitation for hydrological process simulation, based on the observed precipitation of rainfall stations, three remote sensing precipitation products are taken as objects of evaluation. They include TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) 3B42V7,3B42RT and CHIRPS (Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data,CHIP). In this paper, the observation data of rainfall stations and IDWP precipitation data interpolated by IDW (Inverse Distance Weighted) are used as true value of precision comparison, and the detection accuracy of remote sensing precipitation products from 2001 to 2010 is evaluated on the time scale (day, month and quarter) and spatial scale in Naoli River Basin.The results of the study indicated that 3B42V7 and CHIP have a high detection accuracy for precipitation, and their CC (correlation coefficient) values are 0.47 and 0.49 respectively in daily time scale. The accuracy of their observation for monthly precipitation is better than that of daily precipitation, and the CC are 0.85 and 0.87 respectively. The multi-year average precipitation at different grid positions in the basin is overestimated by 3B42RT, and its evaluation results are poor at different time scales. For the precipitation intensity range of (0,20], the observed results of 3B42V7 and rainfall station are close to each other. For the precipitation intensity ranges of (0,1) and (50,+∞), 3B42RT and CHIP have overestimated or underestimated the precipitation in different degrees. Based on the above analysis results, 3B42RT can be considered as data that can detect whether precipitation occurs on different spatial positions in the basin. 3B42V7 and CHIP can be applied to flood forecasting and non-point source pollution control in cold regions.
