Industrial knowledge graphs (IKGs) have received widespread attention from researchers in recent years; they are intuitive to humans and can be understood and processed by machines. However, how to update the entity triples in the graph based on the continuous production data to cover as much knowledge as possible, while applying a KG to meet the needs of different industrial tasks, are two difficulties. This paper proposes a two-stage model construction strategy to benefit both knowledge graph completion and industrial tasks. Firstly, this paper summarizes the specific forms of multi-source data in industry and provides processing methods for each type of data. The core is to vectorize the data and align it conceptually, thereby achieving the fusion modeling of multi-source data. Secondly, this paper defines two interrelated subtasks to construct a pretrained language–knowledge graph model based on multi-task learning. At the same time, considering the dynamic characteristics of the production process, a dynamic expert network structure is adopted for different tasks combined with the pretrained model. In the knowledge completion task, the proposed model achieved an accuracy of 91.25 % , while in the self-healing control task of a blast furnace, the proposed model reduced the incorrect actions rate to 0 and completed self-healing control for low stockline fault in 278 min. Abstract Resource recommendation is extremely challenging under low-resource conditions because representation learning models require sufficient triplets for their training, and the presence of massive long-tail resources leads to data sparsity and cold-start problems. In this paper, an industrial knowledge graph is developed to integrate resources for manufacturing enterprises, and we further formulate long-tail recommendations as a few-shot relational learning problem of learning-to-recommend resources with few interactions under low-resource conditions. First, an industrial knowledge graph is constructed based on the predesigned resource schema. Second, we conduct schema-based reasoning on the schema to heuristically complete the knowledge graph. At last, we propose a multi-head attention-based meta relational learning model with schema-based reasoning to recommend long-tail resources under low-resource conditions. With the IN-Train setting, 5-shot experimental results on the NELL-One and Wiki-One datasets achieve average improvements of 28.8 and 13.3% respectively, compared with MetaR. Empirically, the attention mechanism with relation space translation learns the most important relations for fast convergence. The proposed graph-based platform specifies how to recommend resources using the industrial knowledge graph under low-resource conditions.

The images of surface defects of industrial products contain not only the defect type but also the causal logic related to defective design and manufacturing. This information is recessive and unstructured and difficult to find and use, which cannot provide an apriori basis for solving the problem of product defects in design and manufacturing. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an image semantic refinement recognition method based on causal knowledge for product surface defects. Firstly, an improved ResNet was designed to improve the image classification effect. Then, the causal knowledge graph of surface defects was constructed and stored in Neo4j. Finally, a visualization platform for causal knowledge analysis was developed to realize the causal visualization of the defects in the causal knowledge graph driven by the output data of the network model. In addition, the method is validated by the surface defects dataset. The experimental results show that the average accuracy, recall, and precision of the improved ResNet are improved by 11%, 8.15%, and 8.3%, respectively. Through the application of the visualization platform, the cause results obtained are correct by related analysis and comparison, which can effectively represent the cause of aluminum profile surface defects, verifying the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper. • An exploratory architecture using data and knowledge to close the loop between design and O&M was proposed. • FMECA automation enabled by knowledge graph was proposed to timely bring analysis results to product designers. • Data and knowledge-driven Bayesian network was used to produce valued information for both design and O&M. • The feasibility was studied by a case scenario. Products for personalization require frequent dynamic interactions at all stages of the entire lifecycle. Based on this, the researchers have been studying closed-loop product lifecycle management. However, most of them often focus on the strategic and conceptual levels and ignore the technical details of implementation. From a product quality perspective, a three-tier architecture using data and knowledge to close the loop between design, operation, and maintenance (O&M) is proposed to deal with this problem. FMECA automation enabled by industrial knowledge graph and construction of Bayesian network for failure propagation is introduced in detail to enhance efficient integration of design and maintenance phases. A proof-of-concept simulation based on an electromechanical actuator validates the applicability and efficiency of the proposed method, showing a closed-loop optimization of design and O&M services. Causal correlation data over the equipment spot-inspection operation and maintenance (O&M) records and fault investigation sheets potentially reflect the state related to the causal effect of equipment failures. Various factors influence equipment failures, making it difficult to effectively analyze the main cause of the problems. Mining and leveraging these causal data from the equipment spot inspection records will undoubtedly significantly improve the root cause analysis of the fault in the O&M system. Hence, this paper introduces causal knowledge in equipment fault O&M for the first time and proposes to exploit causal knowledge for enhancing root cause analysis of equipment spot inspection failures. Specifically, an equipment fault O&M knowledge graph with causal knowledge called CausalKG is constructed to provide knowledge support for the causal analysis of faults. That is, CausalKG consists of spot-inspection knowledge graph (SIKG) and causal relationship knowledge (CRK) in equipment fault O&M. Further, a CausalKG-ALBERT knowledge reasoning model is designed. The model transforms CausalKG into network embeddings based on relational graph convolutional networks. In turn, it combines the Q&A mechanism of the language model ALBERT to mine the root cause knowledge of equipment failures. The case study confirms that incorporating the CRK is more effective than directly using the SIKG for causality reasoning; The model can fully use causal relationship knowledge to enhance the reliability of root cause analysis. The rapid development of the industrial internet of things (IIoT) enlightened more tools and techniques to optimize the smart manufacturing service (SMS) paradigm, emphasizing the services based on pervasive IIoT products. However, the serviceability in the smart manufacturing environment is still limited since most of the conventional services are conducted in a passively reactive mode. The knowledge as a service (KaaS) model is hence to be introduced to emphasize the cognitive capability by actively utilizing massive knowledge, where industrial knowledge graph (IKG) plays as the core to generate context-awareness and proactive services for the optimization of serviceability and productivity. Meanwhile, as building IKGs for specific industrial cases is still plagued by the small scale and the lack of continuous enrichment, ensuring the quality and availability of the IKG are still challenging. Aiming to fill this gap with a practical and systematic approach, this paper proposes a generic crowdsourcing approach for continuously evolving the IKG. Through the IKG continuous enrichment approach, IKG-enabled systems indicate the higher value creation ability to utilize knowledge as a kind of service, rather than just a kind of resource. To further illustrate the proposed approach, a case study of a printed circuit board (PCB) processing machine is given with discussions. As an explorative study, future perspectives are also discussed to attract more open and in-depth studies for more robust applications of KaaS and IKG in the IIoT-driven smart manufacturing environment.
