Commercialization of emotions is not a new phenomenon but in Denmark there is a new general trend to tell and sell personal stories in the media. Personal deprivation and crises are also major topics in sports media. This paper focuses on sports biographies as a book genre that is reviving in popularity. The paper approaches the topic through the biographies of one Danish athlete: the former professional cyclist, Jesper Skibby, who writes about his doping disclosure and shares his personal dilemmas as a former elite sportsman. The thematic text analysis orientates around social interactions, emotions, and personality constructions. Inspired by microsociology with a Durkheimian flavor of Goffman and Hochschild, themes including 'face work,' 'interaction rituals,' and 'emotions management' are discussed. The analysis claims that sharing personal information in the media is not only a means of confession and reclaiming status but is also business and management - on an intimate level. The present case study deals with the Danish tabloidBT’s coverage of cycling team owner Bjarne Riis's possible knowledge of doping use in his cycling teams.BTsees itself as a sports paper and tries to signal that it takes sports coverage as seriously as other kinds of news. We see that reflected in various ways inBT’s 2012 coverage of a doping case involving Riis. In this article I investigate the way in whichBTmeta frames itself and its own actions in order to show and underline the seriousness with whichBTtreats sports journalism. The study is part of a recurring Danish project harvesting and mapping the entire news output in one specified week, and draws on insights from framing theory as well as polyphony theory. We present an overview of protein and peptide compounds confiscated in Denmark from late 2007 till late 2013 together with a description of a newly developed HRAM-LC-MS method used for identification. As examples of identification, we present data for the peptides AOD-9604, [D-Ala2, Gln8, Ala15, Leu27]sermorelin and the protein follistatin. It was found that a method with minimum sample preparation could be implemented for all of the confiscated peptides and the protein somatropin. However, for the protein follistatin it was necessary to include trypsin digestion in the sample preparation, which considerably increases the overall analysis time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
