Abstract
The article presents the author's memoir as a scientific officer of the School of Underwater Medicine (SUMU) in Sydney, New South Wales. He recalls how Carl Edmonds had been trying to develop a telemetry system to monitor diving sets and divers. He also remembers how the Des Gorman's entry into the school increased their interest in gas embolism.
