Neuroendocrine system mainly consists of hypothalamus, anterior pituitary, and target organ. In this paper, a three-state-variable delayed Goodwin model with two Hill functions is considered, where the Hill functions with delays denote the hormonal feedback suppressions from target organ to hypothalamus and to anterior in the reproductive hormonal axis. The existence of Hopf bifurcation shows the circadian rhythms of neuroendocrine system. The direction and stability of Hopf bifurcation are also analyzed using the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem for functional differential equations. Furthermore, based on the sparse identification algorithm, it is verified that the transient time series generated from the delayed Goodwin model cannot be equivalently presented by ordinary differential equations from the viewpoint of data when considering that a library of candidates are at most cubic terms. The reason is because the solution space of delayed differential equations is of infinite dimensions. Finally, we report that reservoir computing can predict the periodic behaviors of the delayed Goodwin model accurately if the size of reservoir and the length of data used for training are large enough. This paper considers a chemical reaction-diffusion model for studying pattern formation with the Sel'kov–Schnakenberg model. Firstly, the stability conditions of the positive equilibrium and the existing conditions of the Hopf bifurcation are established for the local system. Then, Turing instability (diffusion-driven), which causes the spatial pattern is investigated and the existing condition of the Turing bifurcation is obtained. In addition, the dynamic behaviors near the Turing bifurcation are also studied by employing the method of weakly nonlinear analysis. The theoretical analysis shows that spatio-temporal patterns change from the spot, mixed (spot-stripe) to stripe with the variation of parameters, which can be verified by a series of numerical simulations. These numerical simulations give a visual representation of the evolution of spatial patterns. This paper is concerned with a predator–prey model with prey-taxis and linear prey harvesting under the homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. The stability of the unique positive constant solution of the predator–prey model without prey-taxis is derived. Also, the emergence of Hopf bifurcation is concluded by choosing the proper Hopf bifurcation parameters. By the center manifold theorem and normal form, we compute the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating solution. In this paper, we propose a diffusive predator–prey model with a strong Allee effect and nonlocal competition in the prey and a fear effect and gestation delay in the predator. We mainly study the local stability of the coexisting equilibrium and the existence and properties of Hopf bifurcation. We provide bifurcation diagrams with the fear effect parameter (s) and the Allee effect parameter (a), showing that the stable region of the coexisting equilibrium increases (or decreases) with an increase in the fear effect parameter (s) (or the Allee effect parameter (a)). We also show that gestation delay (τ) can affect the local stability of the coexisting equilibrium. When the delay (τ) is greater than the critical value, the coexistence equilibrium loses its stability, and bifurcating periodic solutions appear. Whether the bifurcated periodic solution is spatially homogeneous or inhomogeneous depends on the fear effect parameter (s) and the Allee effect parameter (a). These results show that the fear effect parameter (s), the Allee effect parameter (a), and gestation delay (τ) can be used to control the growth of prey and predator populations. Little seems to be considered about the globally exponentially asymptotical stability of parabolic type equilibria and the existence of heteroclinic orbits in the Lorenz-like system with high-order nonlinear terms. To achieve this target, by adding the nonlinear terms yz and x 2 y to the second equation of the system, this paper introduces the new 3D cubic Lorenz-like system: x ˙ = a (y - x) , y ˙ = b 1 y + b 2 y z + b 3 x z + b 4 x 2 y , z ˙ = - c z + y 2 , which does not belong to the generalized Lorenz systems family. In addition to giving rise to generic and degenerate pitchfork bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, hidden Lorenz-like attractors, singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycles with nearby chaotic attractors, etc., one still rigorously proves that not only the parabolic type equilibria S x = { (x , x , x 2 c) | x ∈ R , c ≠ 0 } are globally exponentially asymptotically stable, but also there exists a pair of symmetrical heteroclinic orbits with respect to the z-axis, as most other Lorenz-like systems. A reaction-diffusion predator-prey model with the dormancy of predators is considered in this paper. We are concerned with the long-time behaviors of the solutions of this system. We divided our investigations into two cases: for the ODEs system, we study the existence and stability of the equilibrium solutions and derive precise conditions on system parameters so that the system can undergo Hopf bifurcations around the positive equilibrium solution. Moreover, the properties of Hopf bifurcation are studied in detail. For the reaction-diffusion system, we are able to derive conditions on the diffusion coefficients so that the spatially homogeneous Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions can undergo diffusion-triggered instability. In this paper, the dynamical behaviors of a 2-component coupled diffusive system modeling hair follicle spacing is considered. For the corresponding ODEs, we not only consider the stability and instability of the unique positive equilibrium solutions, but also show the existence of unstable Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions. For the reaction-diffusion equations, we are mainly interested in the Turing instability of the positive equilibrium solution, as well as Hopf bifurcations and steady-state bifurcations. Our results showed that, under certain conditions, the reaction-diffusion system not only has Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions (both spatially homogeneous and non-homogeneous, all unstable), but it also has non-constant positive bifurcating equilibrium solutions. In this paper, a delayed diffusive predator-prey model with the Allee effect and nonlocal competition in prey and hunting cooperation in predators is proposed. The local stability of coexisting equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are studied by analyzing the eigenvalue spectrum. The property of Hopf bifurcation is also studied by the center manifold theorem and normal form method. Through numerical simulation, the analysis results are verified, and the influence of these parameters on the model is also obtained. Firstly, increasing the Allee effect parameter β and hunting cooperation parameter α is not conducive to the stability of the coexistence equilibrium point under some parameters. In this paper, the dynamical behaviors of a multiple delayed HIV-1 infection model which describes the interactions of humoral, cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) immune responses, and two modes of transmission that are the classical virus-to-cell infection and the direct cell-to-cell transmission are investigated. The model incorporates three delays, including the delays of cell infection, virus production and activation of immune response. We first prove the well-posedness of the model, and calculate the biological existence of equilibria and the reproduction numbers, which contain virus infection, humoral immune response, CTL immune response, CTL immune competition, and humoral immune competition. Further, the threshold conditions for the local and global stability of the equilibria for infection-free, immune-free, antibody response, CTL response, and interior are established by utilizing linearization method and the Lyapunov functionals. The existence of Hopf bifurcation with immune delay as a bifurcation parameter is investigated by using the bifurcation theory. In this paper, we consider a delayed single population model with patch structure, and investigate Hopf bifurcations when the dispersal rate or the scaling parameter of the growth rate is small. The effect of dispersal patterns is analyzed. We show that dispersal patterns affect the occurrence of Hopf bifurcations when the scaling parameter of the growth rate is small, and affect the values of Hopf bifurcations when the dispersal rate is small. In this paper, we study the factor of the fear effect in a predator–prey model with prey refuge and a non-differentiable fractional functional response due to the group defense. Since the functional response is non-differentiable, the dynamics of this system are considerably different from the dynamics of a classical predator–prey system. The persistence, the stability and the existence of the steady states are investigated. We examine the Hopf bifurcation at the unique positive equilibrium. Since the stochastic bifurcation theory is still in its infancy, we try to analyze some stochastic bifurcation phenomenon from a simple mathematical model. Thus, this paper mainly focuses on studying the stochastic bifurcation of a stochastic logistic model with distributed delay in the strong kernel case, which is affected by noise. Therefore, we use the intrinsic growth rate as a bifurcation parameter. First, we study the stochastic D-bifurcation and stochastic P-bifurcation for stochastic logistic model. Furthermore, by deriving the corresponding Fokker–Planck equation, we obtain the expression of the joint density function of the stochastic logistic system near the positive equilibrium point. In most HIV models, the emergence of backward bifurcation means that the control for basic reproduction number less than one is no longer effective for HIV treatment. In this paper, we study an HIV model with CTL response and cell‐to‐cell transmission by using the dynamical approach. The local and global stability of equilibria is investigated, the relations of subcritical Hopf bifurcation and supercritical bifurcation points are revealed, especially, the so‐called new type bifurcation is also found with two Hopf bifurcation curves meeting at the same Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation point. Forward and backward bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, saddle‐node bifurcation, Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation are investigated analytically and numerically. Two limit cycles are also found numerically, which indicates that the complex behavior of HIV dynamics. Interestingly, the role of cell‐to‐cell interaction is fully uncovered, it may cause the oscillations to disappear and keep the so‐called new type bifurcation persist. In this paper, the asymptotical behaviour of an age-structured Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection model with general non-linear infection function and logistic proliferation term is studied. Based on the existence of the equilibria and theory of operator semigroups, linearized stability/instability of the disease-free and endemic equilibria is investigated through the distribution of eigenvalues of the linear operator. Then persistence of the solution semi-flow of the considered system is studied by showing the existence of a global attractor and the obtained result shows that the solution semi-flow is persistent as long as the basic reproduction number |$R_{0}>1$|⁠. Moreover, the Hopf bifurcations problem around the endemic equilibrium is also considered for the situation with a specific infection function. Since the system has two different delays, four cases are discussed to investigate the influence of the time delays on the dynamics of system around the endemic equilibrium including stability and Hopf bifurcations. In this work. we consider an eco-epidemiological model with disease in prey. The role of alternative food is being investigated. Alternative food source for predator is another significant component in the interaction of ecological species and incorporation of this aspect in eco-epidemiological investigations may give some fascinating outcomes. The contribution of this paper is to consider different competition coefficients within the prey population. which leads to the emergent carrying capacity. In this paper, the effects of prey’s fear on the dynamics of the prey, predator, and scavenger system incorporating a prey refuge with the linear type of functional response are studied theoretically as well as numerically approach. The local and global stabilities of all possible equilibrium points are investigated. The persistence conditions of the model are established. The local bifurcation analysis around the equilibrium points, as well as the Hopf bifurcation near the positive equilibrium point, are discussed and analyzed. The paper studies the bifurcations that occur in the T-system, a 3D dynamical system symmetric in respect to the Oz axis. Results concerning some local bifurcations (pitchfork and Hopf bifurcation) are presented and our attention is focused on a special bifurcation, when the system has infinitely many equilibrium points. It is shown that, at the bifurcation limit, the phase space is foliated by infinitely many invariant surfaces, each of them containing two equilibrium points (an attractor and a saddle). For values of the bifurcation parameter close to the bifurcation limit, the study of the system's dynamics is done according to the singular perturbation theory. The dynamics is characterized by mixed mode oscillations (also called fast-slow oscillations or oscillations-relaxations) and a finite number of equilibrium points. In this paper, the bursting oscillation phenomenon in coupled systems with two time scales is introduced. Firstly, several types of bifurcation are briefly introduced: fold bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, fold limit cycle bifurcation, homoclinic bifurcation, etc. The bursting oscillations of the system with two excitation terms and the bifurcation delay in the bursting oscillations are considered. In our paper, a delayed diffusive phytoplankton-zooplankton-fish model with a refuge and Crowley-Martin and Holling II functional responses is established. First, for the model without delay and diffusion, we not only analyze the existence and stability of equilibria, but also discuss the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation by choosing the refuge proportion of phytoplankton as the bifurcation parameter. Then, for the model with delay, we set some sufficient conditions to demonstrate the existence of Hopf bifurcation caused by delay; we also discuss the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcation of the periodic solution by using the center manifold and normal form theories. This paper analyses a predator-prey model with Holling type II response function incorporating Allee and fear effect in the prey. The model includes intra species competition among predators. We find out the local dynamics as well as Hopf bifurcation by considering level of fear as bifurcation parameter. The condition for diffusion-driven instability and patterns are then demonstrated in relation to the system's ecological parameters and diffusion coefficients. Intra-specific competition affects the dynamics of the system and Turing pattern formation. Moreover, output of results are verified through numerical simulation. We study an evolutionary game model based on a transition matrix approach, in which the total change in the proportion of a population playing a given strategy is summed directly over contributions from all other strategies. This general approach combines aspects of the traditional replicator model, such as preserving unpopulated strategies, with mutation-type dynamics, which allow for nonzero switching to unpopulated strategies, in terms of a single transition function. Under certain conditions, this model yields an endemic population playing non-Nash-equilibrium strategies. In addition, a Hopf bifurcation with a limit cycle may occur in the generalized rock-scissors-paper game, unlike the replicator equation. In this paper, we consider an SI epidemic model incorporating additive Allee effect and time delay. The primary purpose of this paper is to study the dynamics of the above system. Firstly, for the model without time delay, we demonstrate the existence and stability of equilibria for three different cases, i.e. with weak Allee effect, with strong Allee effect, and in the critical case. We also investigate the existence and uniqueness of Hopf bifurcation and limit cycle. Secondly, for the model with time delay, the stability of equilibria and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are discussed. The phenomenon produced by the Hopf bifurcations is of notable importance. In fact, a Hopf bifurcation—guaranteeing the existence of an unsteady periodic solution of the linearized problem at stake—is also an optimum limit cycle candidate of the nonlinear associated problem and, if non linearly globally attractive, is an absorbing set and an effective limit cycle. The present paper deals with the onset of Hopf bifurcations in thermal magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). Precisely, it is devoted to characterization—via a simple formula—of the Hopf bifurcations threshold in horizontal plasma layers between rigid planes, heated from below and embedded in a constant transverse magnetic field. This problem, remarked clearly and notably by the Nobel Laureate Chandrasekhar (Nature 175:417–419, 1955), constitutes a difficulty met by him and—for plasma layers between rigid planes electricity perfectly conducting—is, as far as we know, still not removed. This paper expatiates the stability and bifurcation for a fractional-order neural network (FONN) with double leakage delays. Firstly, the characteristic equation of the developed FONN is circumspectly researched by employing inequable delays as bifurcation parameters. Simultaneously the bifurcation criteria are correspondingly extrapolated. Then, unequal delays-spurred-bifurcation diagrams are primarily delineated to confirm the precision and correctness for the values of bifurcation points. Furthermore, it lavishly illustrates from the evidence that the stability performance of the proposed FONN can be demolished with the presence of leakage delays in accordance with comparative studies. Eventually, two numerical examples are exploited to underpin the feasibility of the developed theory. We study a variant of the cyclic Lotka–Volterra model with three-agent interactions. Inspired by a multiplayer variation of the Rock–Paper–Scissors game, the model describes an ideal ecosystem in which cyclic competition among three species develops through cooperative predation. Its rate equations in a well-mixed environment display a degenerate Hopf bifurcation, occurring as reactions involving two predators plus one prey have the same rate as reactions involving two prey plus one predator. We estimate the magnitude of the stochastic noise at the bifurcation point, where finite size effects turn neutrally stable orbits into erratically diverging trajectories. In particular, we compare analytic predictions for the extinction probability, derived in the Fokker–Planck approximation, with numerical simulations based on the Gillespie stochastic algorithm. We then extend the analysis of the phase portrait to heterogeneous rates. In a well-mixed environment, we observe a continuum of degenerate Hopf bifurcations, generalizing the above one. Neutral stability ensues from a complex equilibrium between different reactions. Remarkably, on a two-dimensional lattice, all bifurcations disappear as a consequence of the spatial locality of the interactions. In the second part of the paper, we investigate the effects of mobility in a lattice metapopulation model with patches hosting several agents. We find that strategies propagate along the arms of rotating spirals, as they usually do in models of cyclic dominance. We observe propagation instabilities in the regime of large wavelengths. In this paper, a class of respiratory disease model is established by taking into account simultaneously two situations that susceptible individuals directly got sick by inhaling air pollutants and indirectly fallen ill from infection by patients with respiratory diseases. The sufficient conditions for equilibria existence of the system and locally asymptotically stability of endemic equilibria are obtained. The existence of saddle‐node bifurcation is derived by using the Sotomayor theorem. The stability of periodic solution of Hopf bifurcation is determined by calculating the first Lyapunov number. The direct conversion rate and indirect infection rate in the system are selected as bifurcation parameters; the existence of Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension 2 of the system is proved by calculating the universal unfolding near the cusp. This study is devoted to considering dynamic properties of an environmental protection expenditures model for protected areas (PAs) with two delays. It presents an improved understanding of relationship among tourism, environment, and capital stock in PAs and provides a sustainable strategy to keep the balance between them. The model considers the interactions among environmental resource E$$ E $$, visitors V$$ V $$, and capital stock K$$ K $$ in PAs. The tourism income is used partly to increase the capital stock and partly to protect the environment. In this paper, time delays τ1$$ {\tau}_1 $$ and τ2$$ {\tau}_2 $$ are introduced into the system. The technique of stability crossing curves for two delays is proposed to analyze the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation. Numerical simulations are performed for understanding the analytical results. The results show that under some parameter conditions, the share η$$ \eta $$ of total revenue generated by tourism user fees for environmental protection is related to delays τ1$$ {\tau}_1 $$ and τ2$$ {\tau}_2 $$. In this paper, we study the effect of spatial average and time delay on the dynamics of a diffusive predator–prey model under the Neumann boundary condition. Compared to the model without spatial average, the delay‐induced Hopf bifurcation at the first critical value of delay is nonhomogeneous due to the joint effects of spatial average and delay, and spatiotemporal patterns arise. Also, we show that the spatially homogeneous and nonhomogeneous periodic patterns may switch for different bifurcation parameter values. Moreover, a double Hopf bifurcation occurs at the intersection point of the homogeneous and nonhomogeneous Hopf bifurcation curves, and spatially nonhomogeneous quasi‐periodic patterns can be observed via numerical simulations near the double Hopf bifurcation point. In this paper, we investigate bifurcations of stationary solutions of a cross‐diffusion prey–predator system with Ivlev functional response and Neumann boundary conditions. First, we analyze the local stability and existence of a Hopf bifurcation at a coexistence stationary solution. We show that the bifurcating periodic solutions are asymptotically orbitally stable and the bifurcation direction is supercritical when the ratio of the conversion of prey captured by predator to the death rate of predator is in the interval (1,2]$$ \left(1,2\right] $$. Next, we derive sufficient conditions for the existence of a steady‐state bifurcation from a simple eigenvalue. We establish the existence of two intersecting C1$$ {C}^1 $$ curves of steady‐state solutions near the coexistence stationary solution. To illustrate our theoretical results, we give some numerical examples. From numerical simulations we observe that the coexistence stationary solution loses its stability via the Hopf bifurcation and a periodic solution emerges after a short time. Also by taking the bifurcation parameter value in the stable region, the effect of the initial condition disappears over time and the solution returns to the coexistence stationary solution. Introduction: The study of brain function has been favored by scientists, but the mechanism of short-term memory formation has yet to be precise. Research problem: Since the formation of short-term memories depends on neuronal activity, we try to explain the mechanism from the neuron level in this paper. Research contents and methods: Due to the modular structures of the brain, we analyze the pattern properties of the FitzHugh-Nagumo model (FHN) on a multilayer network (coupled by a random network). The conditions of short-term memory formation in the multilayer FHN model are obtained. Then the time delay is introduced to more closely match patterns of brain activity. The properties of periodic solutions are obtained by the central manifold theorem. Conclusion: When the diffusion coeffcient, noise intensity np, and network connection probability p reach a specific range, the brain forms a relatively vague memory. It is found that network and time delay can induce complex cluster dynamics. And the synchrony increases with the increase of p. That is, short-term memory becomes clearer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we consider a Holling type II predator–prey system with prey refuge, Allee effect, fear effect and time delay. The existence and stability of the equilibria of the system are investigated. Under the variation of the delay as a parameter, the system experiences a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium when the delay crosses some critical values. We also analyze the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solution by the center manifold theorem and normal form theory. We show that the influence of fear effect and Allee effect is negative, while the impact of the prey refuge is positive. In particular, the birth rate plays an important role in the stability of the equilibria. Examples with associated numerical simulations are provided to prove our main results. The Investment Savings-Liquidity preference Money supply (IS-LM) model is represented as a graph depicting the intersection of products and the money market. It elaborates how an equilibrium of money supply versus interest rates may keep the economy in control. In this paper, we combine the basic business cycle IS-LM model with Kaldor's growth model in order to create an augmented model. The IS-LM model, when coupled with a certain economics expansion (in our instance, the Kaldor–Kalecki Business Cycle Model), provides a comprehensive description of a developing but robust economy. Right after the introduction of capital stock into the system, it cannot be employed and also, while making some investment choices, this requires some time in execution, which ultimately alters resources, i.e. capital. Thus, in the capital accumulation, we will be incorporating double time delays in Gross product and Capital Stock. These time delays represent the time periods during which investment decisions were made and executed and the time spent in order for the capital to be put to productive use. After formulating a mathematical model using delayed differential equations, dynamic functioning of the system around equilibrium point is examined where three instances appeared based on time delays. These cases are: when both delays are not in action, when only one delay is in action and when both delays are in action. It is shown that time delay affects the stability of the equilibrium point and, as the delay crosses a critical point, Hopf bifurcation exists. It is observed that by using Kaldor type investment function, the delay residing in capital stock only will destabilize in less time as compared to when both the delays are present in the system. Vector-borne disease malaria is transmitted to humans by arthropod vectors (mosquitoes) and contributes significantly to the global disease burden. TV and social media play a key role to disseminate awareness among people by broadcasting awareness programs. In this paper, a nonlinear model is formulated and analyzed in which cumulative number of advertisements through TV and social media is taken as dynamical variable that propagates awareness among people to control the prevalence of vector-borne disease. The human population is partitioned into susceptible, infected and aware classes, while the vector population is divided into susceptible and infected classes. Humans become infected and new cases arise when bitten by infected vectors (mosquitoes) and susceptible vectors get infected as they bite infected humans. The feasibility of equilibria is justified and their stability conditions are discussed. A crucial parameter, basic reproduction number, which measures the disease transmission potentiality is obtained. Bifurcation analysis is performed by varying the sensitive parameters, and it is found that the proposed system shows different kinds of bifurcations, such as transcritical bifurcation, saddle-node bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation, etc. The analysis of the model shows that reduction in vector population due to intervention of people of aware class would not efficiently reduce the infective cases, rather we have to minimize the transmission rates anyhow, to control the disease outbreak. In this paper, we explore local dynamics with topological classifications, bifurcation analysis, and chaos control in a discrete‐time COVID‐19 epidemic model in the interior of ℝ+4$$ {\mathbb{R}}_{+}^4 $$. It is explored that for all involved parametric values, discrete‐time COVID‐19 epidemic model has boundary equilibrium solution and also it has an interior equilibrium solution under definite parametric condition. We have explored the local dynamics with topological classifications about boundary and interior equilibrium solutions of the discrete‐time COVID‐19 epidemic model by linear stability theory. Further, for the discrete‐time COVID‐19 epidemic model, existence of periodic points and convergence rate are also investigated. It is also studied the existence of possible bifurcations about boundary and interior equilibrium solutions and proved that there exists no flip bifurcation about boundary equilibrium solution. Moreover, it is proved that about interior equilibrium solution, there exist Hopf and flip bifurcations, and we have studied these bifurcations by utilizing explicit criterion. In this paper, we investigate a cannibalistic predator‐prey system with Beddington‐DeAngelis type response function when the infection only exists in the predator species. The predator species are subject to cannibalistic interaction and the infection spreads among the predators via cannibalism. The model is studied in presence of multiple delays for the maturation of prey and predator. Local stability analysis of the predator‐prey model around the biologically realistic two essential steady states is investigated. We also investigate the bifurcation analysis of the proposed model around the co‐existing steady states. Using the normal form method and center manifold theory, the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions are explored. In presence of time delays, we derive the criteria for the permanence of the model. Our findings demonstrate that maturation delays destabilize the system and can produce high periodic oscillations. Cannibalism can act as a self‐regulatory scenario controlling the transmission of disease among the predator species and stabilizing the oscillations in the predator‐prey system. Interruptions in turning make the process forces non-smooth and nonlinear. Smooth nonlinear cutting forces result in the process of being stable for small perturbations and unstable for larger ones. Re-entry after interruptions acts as perturbations making the process exhibit bistabilities. Stability for such processes is characterized by Hopf bifurcations resulting in lobes and period-doubling bifurcations resulting in narrow unstable lenses. Interrupted turning remains an important technological problem, and since experimentation to investigate and mitigate instabilities are difficult, this paper instead emulates these phenomena on a controlled hardware-in-the-loop simulator. Emulated cutting on the simulator confirms that bistabilities persist with lobes and lenses. Cutting in bistable regimes should be avoided due to conditional stability. Hence, we demonstrate the use of active damping to stabilize cutting with interruptions/perturbations. To stabilize cutting with small/large perturbations, we successfully implement an adaptive gain tuning scheme that adapts the gain to the level of interruption/perturbation. To facilitate real-time detection of instabilities and their control, we characterize the efficacy of the updating scheme for its dependence on the time required to update the gain and for its dependence on the levels of gain increments. We observe that higher gain increments with shorter updating times result in the process being stabilized quicker. Introduction of biopesticides and predators in the crop fields has a crucial impact on the pest management as the biopesticides induce infection among the pest population and the infected pests are easy to be captured by the predators. In this paper, we investigate a mathematical model for a pest management system with farming awareness-based inclusion of predators and biopesticides. The level of awareness among the farmers is assumed to grow at a constant rate besides its growth due to an increase in the pest population in the crop field. The proposed model is analyzed mathematically for the feasibility and stability of the equilibrium points; existence of Hopf bifurcation together with direction and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are discussed; sufficient conditions are derived for which the system does not exhibit any periodic solution. Our simulation results show that the activeness of farmers for employing biopesticides in the crop field potentially suppresses the oscillations and brings forth stability in the system. Further, we observe that the system showcases the appearances of Generalized Hopf bifurcation, Zero-Hopf bifurcation, transcritical bifurcation and bistability. Overall, our findings manifest that by imparting knowledge among the farmers regarding the use of biopesticides and predators in the crop fields, the pest population can be effectively controlled. Age structure and delay play a significant role in determining the dynamics of the diseases. In this paper, an SEIRS epidemic model with age structure and time delay is investigated, where the loss of the acquired immunity and delay are incorporated. Through some rigorous analyses, an explicit formula for the basic reproduction number of the model is calculated, and some results about stability and instability of equilibria for the model are established. Understanding the Allee effect on endangered species is crucial for ecological conservation and management as it highly affects the extinction of a population. Due to several ecological mechanisms accounting for the Allee effect, it is necessary to study the dynamics of a predator–prey model incorporating this phenomenon. In 1999, Cosner et al. [Effects of spatial grouping on the functional response of predators, Theor Popul Biol 56:65–75, 1999] derived a new kind of functional response by considering spatially grouped predators. This paper deals with the dynamical behavior of a predator–prey system with functional response proposed by Cosner et al., and the growth of the prey population suffers a strong Allee effect. We find that the system undergoes various types of bifurcations such as Hopf bifurcation, saddle-node bifurcation, and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. We also observe that the model exhibits bistability and two different types of tristability phenomena. Our findings reveal that for such a kind of multistability in ecological systems, the initial population size plays a crucial role and also impacts the system's state in the long term. A modified continuum traffic flow model is established in this paper based on an extended car-following model considering driver's reaction time and distance. The linear stability of the model and the Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) equation describing the density wave of traffic flow in the metastable region are obtained. In the new model, the relaxation term and the dissipation term exist at the same time, thus the type and stability of equilibrium solution of the model can be analyzed on the phase plane. Based on the equilibrium point, the bifurcation analysis of the model is carried out, and the existence of Hopf bifurcation and saddle-node bifurcation is proved. Numerical simulations show that the model can describe the complex nonlinear dynamic phenomena observed in freeway traffic, such as local cluster effect. Various bifurcations of the model, such as Hopf bifurcation, saddle-node bifurcation, Limit Point bifurcation of cycles, Cusp bifurcation and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation, are also obtained by numerical simulations, and the traffic behaviors of some bifurcations are studied. The results show that the numerical solution is consistent with the analytical solution. This paper reports a new 3D sub-quadratic Lorenz-like system and proves the existence of two pairs of heteroclinic orbits to two pairs of nontrivial equilibria and the origin, which are completely different from the existing ones to the unstable origin and a pair of stable nontrivial equilibria in the published literature. This motivates one to further explore it and dig out its other hidden dynamics: Hopf bifurcation, invariant algebraic surface, ultimate boundedness, singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycle and so on. The emergence of vibrations during a roller coaster ride is a recurring phenomenon that can deteriorate the overall experience and accelerate material fatigue. Nevertheless, the causes of such vibrations are still not completely understood and are consequently not fully predictable during the design process. One possible source lies on the irregularities of the rails, acting as a forced external excitation. However, a spectral analysis shows deviations with respect to real measurements [1], as the frequencies are not synchronous with the car velocity divided by the spatial irregularity period. Therefore, there is an indication that the vibrations may be due to self‐excitation and/or that the developed models should consider other phenomena not yet contemplated. This investigation analyses –for the first time to the knowledge of the authors– the plausibility of various causes of self‐excited vibrations during a roller coaster car motion. Given the complex structure of a real roller coaster train and the intricate geometry of the track, the study considers as a first step minimal dynamical models running along a straight track. The cause analyzed in this paper is the contribution of the transversal friction force component that develops in the wheel‐rail contact interface to the destabilization of the longitudinal motion, as well as the effect of the various geometrical and inertial parameters. In this first analysis, no external excitation is considered. For a range of parameters, the minimal system presents a Hopf bifurcation. The results are plausible from the general behavior and thus this cause may be retained as a candidate for the real vibrations occurring in roller coasters. However, the applicability of these preliminary results to general roller coaster motions is not yet confirmed, but a superposition with other causalities may render effective. In this paper, we study a delayed adaptive network epidemic model in which the local spatial connections of susceptible and susceptible individuals have time-delay effects on the rate of demographic change of local spatial connections of susceptible and susceptible individuals. The non-normal nature and transient growth in amplitude and energy of a pitch-plunge aeroelastic system undergoing dynamic stall are explored in this paper through numerical and supporting experimental studies. Wind tunnel experiments, carried out for a canonical pitch-plunge aeroelastic system in a subsonic wind tunnel, show that the system undergoes stall flutter instability via a sub-critical Hopf bifurcation. The aeroelastic responses indicate a transient growth in amplitude and energy—possibly triggering the sub-criticality, which is critical from the purview of structural safety. The system also shows transient energy growth followed by decaying oscillation for certain initial conditions, whereas sustained limit cycle oscillations are encountered for other initial conditions at flow speeds lower than the critical speed. The triggering behavior observed in the wind tunnel experiments is understood better by resorting to study the numerical model of the nonlinear aeroelastic system. To that end, a modified semi-empirical Leishman–Beddoes dynamic stall model is adopted to represent the nonlinear aerodynamic loads of the pitch-plunge aeroelastic system. The underlying linear operator and its pseudospectral analysis indicate that the aeroelastic system is non-normal, causing amplification in amplitude and energy for a short period. To explore transmission dynamics of tuberculosis, a tuberculosis transmission model with vaccination and time delay is developed in current paper. Positivity and boundedness are analyzed. Local stability of tuberculosis-free equilibrium in respect of the time delay due to latent period of tuberculosis is analyzed and we have found threshold value of the time delay for the local stability of tuberculosis-free equilibrium. Then, local stability of tuberculosis-existence equilibrium following exhibition of Hopf bifurcation at the crucial value of the time delay due to latent period of tuberculosis is derived. It is shown that the developed model undergoes a Hopf bifurcation around the tuberculosis-existence when the time delay due to latent period of tuberculosis passes through the threshold value. Direction and stability of the Hopf bifurcation are investigated with the help of the normal form method and center manifold theory. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out in the justification of obtained analytical findings. The results obtained provide significant information for tuberculosis disease controlling. In this paper, the dynamical behaviors are investigated for a complex network with two independent delays. Instead of taking time delays as bifurcation parameters, we choose probability p$$ p $$ and parameter μ$$ \mu $$ as the control parameters to study their effects on local stability and Hopf bifurcation, respectively. In this paper, a general class of fractional-order complex-valued bidirectional associative memory neural network with time delay is considered. This neural network model contains an arbitrary number of neurons, i.e. one neuron in the X-layer and other neurons in the Y-layer. Hopf bifurcation analysis of this system will be discussed. Here, the number of neurons, i.e., n can be chosen arbitrarily. We study Hopf bifurcation by taking the time delay as the bifurcation parameter. The critical value of the time delay for the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation is determined. Moreover, we find two kinds of appropriate Lyapunov functions that under some sufficient conditions, global stability of the system is obtained. Finally, numerical examples are also presented. For decades, the network-organized reaction-diffusion models have been widely used to study ecological and epidemiological phenomena in discrete space. However, the high dimensionality of these nonlinear systems places a long-standing restriction to develop the normal forms of various bifurcations. In this paper, we take an important step to present a rigorous procedure for calculating the normal form associated with the Hopf bifurcation of the general network-organized reaction-diffusion systems, which is similar to but can be much more intricate than the corresponding procedure for the extensively explored PDE systems. To show the potential applications of our obtained theoretical results, we conduct the detailed Hopf bifurcation analysis for a multi-patch predator-prey system defined on any undirected connected underlying network and on the particular non-periodic one-dimensional lattice network. Remarkably, we reveal that the structure of the underlying network imposes a significant effect on the occurrence of the spatially nonhomogeneous Hopf bifurcations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, the general framework for calculating the stability of equilibria, Hopf bifurcation of a delayed prey-predator system with an SI type of disease in the prey population, is investigated. The impact of the incubation period delay on disease transmission utilizing a nonlinear incidence rate was taken into account. For the purpose of explaining the predation process, a modified Holling type II functional response was used. First, the existence, uniform boundedness, and positivity of the solutions of the considered model system, along with the behavior of equilibria and the existence of Hopf bifurcation, are studied. The critical values of the delay parameter for which stability switches and the nature of the Hopf bifurcation by using normal form theory and center manifold theorem are identified. Additionally, using numerical simulations and a hypothetical dataset, various dynamic characteristics are discovered, including stability switches, chaos, and Hopf bifurcation scenarios.
