The article focuses on sloths' penchant for cacao plantations, according to research by Jonathan Pauli and Zach Peery, wildlife ecologists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They have been observing brown-throated three-toed and Hoffmann's two-toed sloths at a cacao plantation in Costa Rica. They conclude that well-managed shade-grown crops such as cacao might be the key for maintaining biodiversity in the tropics.
