Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is an emerging sector that aims to optimise transportation in urban and interurban environments using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). However, these aircraft are particularly susceptible to adverse weather phenomena, such as turbulence or wind gusts. To ensure the safety of operations, high-resolution real-time atmospheric prediction models, such as those based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), are required. The development of these systems faces challenges as accurate geometric models of navigation environments are needed to simulate the interaction between the wind and the terrain and infrastructure. These models feature complex geometries, so they cannot be manually crafted, requiring automated processing of geospatial data sources. As the main novelty, this work presents a methodology for the automated modelling of interurban environments for CFD simulations using digital elevation models and georeferenced surface semantic classification data. A practical case study was developed in the outskirts of Vigo (Spain), where we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach and its integration with the open-source CFD software OpenFOAM.

Las patologías infecciosas han constituido una de las principales causas de muerte en las sociedades prehistóricas. Su estudio permite conocer el impacto en las dinámicas poblacionales e investigar los patrones de adaptación frente al surgimiento de nuevos patógenos y sus mutaciones. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar una primera aproximación al análisis de procesos infecciosos en restos bioarqueológicos del Holoceno Tardío (desde ca. 4200 años cal AP hasta el presente) en ambientes de altura y planicies de las provincias de Mendoza y Córdoba (Argentina). Los grupos que ocuparon estas áreas presentan particularidades respecto a su organización social, pero comparten similitudes en los modos de vida y las estrategias de subsistencia, basados en la caza-recolección a comienzos del período, con incorporación de la horticultura hacia momentos finales. Se realizó el análisis paleopatológico de 75 individuos adultos de ambos sexos, mediante la observación macroscópica y el registro sistemático de lesiones óseas. Se calcularon frecuencias por sexo, edad, criterios cronológicos (pre y post 1000/1200 años AP) y ambientales (Sierras/Llanuras y Planicies/Montañas). El 48% de los individuos de la muestra presentó lesiones que podrían asociarse a patologías infecciosas, de los cuales el 46% corresponde a Mendoza y el 58,3% a Córdoba. Se observan mayores prevalencias para Mendoza a inicios del Holoceno Tardío, así como en momentos finales del período para Córdoba; en términos geográficos/ambientales, los grupos que habitaron la zona de Sierras en Córdoba y la Planicie de Mendoza registraron mayores porcentajes de afectación. Estos resultados se discuten según el modelo de transiciones epidemiológicas.

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la dinámica identitaria de camioneros desde fines del siglo XX hasta la actualidad ampliando los factores explicativos del poder sindical del colectivo más allá del éxito en sus estrategias de adaptación organizativa, el aprovechamiento de las oportunidades políticas y su poder estructural en la economía. Para ello se hará foco en la expansión de la identidad político-sindical, la recurrente y sostenida estrategia de protagonismo en nuevos nucleamientos sindicales y multisectoriales, así como en las pretensiones de restablecer la influencia del sindicalismo en la política. La consideración cualitativa de fuentes secundarias, junto a entrevistas a exdelegados, militantes y dirigentes del gremio, dan sustento al presente artículo.

Small fixed-wing electric Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are perfect candidates to perform tasks in wide areas, such as photogrammetry, surveillance, monitoring, or search and rescue, among others. They are easy to transport and assemble, have much greater range and autonomy, and reach higher speeds than rotatory-wing UAVs. Aiming to contribute towards their future implementation, the objective of this article is to benchmark commercial, small, fixed-wing, electric UAVs and compatible RGB cameras to find the best combination for photogrammetry and data acquisition of mussel seeds and goose barnacles in a multi-region intertidal zone of the south coast of Galicia (NW of Spain). To compare all the options, a Coverage Path Planning (CPP) algorithm enhanced for fixed-wing UAVs to cover long areas with sharp corners was posed, followed by a Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) to find the best route between regions. Results show that two options stand out from the rest: the Delair DT26 Open Payload with a PhaseOne iXM-100 camera (shortest path, minimum number of pictures and turns) and the Heliplane LRS 340 PRO with the Sony Alpha 7R IV sensor, finishing the task in the minimum time.

La “Carta al Emperador Carlos V” ha sido motivo de abordajes críticos dado el ataque del enunciador a De las Casas y su defensa del trabajo franciscano novohispano. No obstante, no es esta la primera carta escrita por Motolinía, ni la única de este tenor: otras epístolas por él firmadas reflejan las disputas entre órdenes y el tenso contexto político de la evangelización. En este artículo analizo las características que hacen de esta carta un texto en el que se cruzan la acusación, la defensa y recursos de las crónicas misioneras novohispanas y la epístola franciscana más atendida de la conquista. The “Carta al Emperador Carlos V” has been studied by scholars given the attack of the enunciator to De las Casas and his defense of the Franciscan work. Nevertheless, this is not the first letter written by Motolinía and it is not the only one in this tone: other epistles show the disputes among the different orders and the tense political context of evangelization. In this article I analyze the characteristics that make this letter the most studied text of the conquest and the way accusation, defense and discursive resources used in novohispanic missionary chronicles and these epistles are intertwined.

Owing to the global upward trend of accidental carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in the past 30 years, this work aimed to develop Cobalt-doped CeO2 particles by the microwave-assisted hydrothermal route under distinct conditions. Their structural, morphological, spectroscopic and electrical behaviors were investigated to correlate the influence of Co on their properties with the introduction of oxygen vacancies and their sensing capability to assist in the mitigation of CO poisoning cases. The samples were crystalline and had no secondary phases. Two distinct activation energies for the electrical conduction processes were observed due to dopant influence, corroborating the local cluster-to-cluster charge transfer (CCCT) mechanism, resulting in a response time of only 3s for the 4% Co-doped sample. On the other hand, through positron annihilation studies we showed that the oxygen vacancies are preferentially formed near Co ions, reducing the Co ion charge and leading to the formation of neutral VO-Co+2 complex clusters.

Background: Research regarding the feasibility and effects of dancing and exercise with musical support programmes on the physical fitness of adults with intellectual disability (ID) is scarce. The purpose of this study was to provide scientific evidence regarding the feasibility of a training programme consisting of dancing and exercise with music designed for adults with ID, as well as to assess its impact on their body composition and cardiovascular and muscular fitness. Methods: A total of 30 adults (mean age 36.37 ± 11.24 years) with mild (n = 13), moderate (n = 16) or severe (n = 1) ID took part in a 10-week dancing and exercise with music programme. Recruitment and completion rate, adherence to the programme, participation and adverse effects were registered as measures of feasibility. The body mass index, cardiovascular endurance (6-min walk test) and muscular strength (standing long jump test) of the participants were assessed in order to determine the effects of the programme on their fitness level. Results: A 92.5% recruitment rate and a 90% completion rate were achieved. Adherence to the programme stood at 76.6%, and no adverse effects were registered. The comparison between the values obtained in the initial and final evaluations indicated the existence of positive changes in all the fitness dimensions measured. Conclusion: A training programme combining dancing and exercise with music proved to be feasible when performed by adults with ID. These kind of programmes can have a positive effect on the fitness level of this specific group.

The inspection and maintenance of track ballast are fundamental tasks for the preservation of the condition of railway networks. This work presents an application based on a low-cost solid-state LiDAR system, which allows the user to accurately measure the ballast geometry from a mobile inspection trolley or draisine. The solid-state LiDAR system, the LiVOX Avia, was validated on a test track through comparison with a traditional static LiDAR system, the Faro Focus 3D. The results show a standard deviation of around 6 mm for the solid-state LiDAR system. The LiVOX system also provides the capability to measure the ballast digital elevation model and profiles. The LiVOX results are in agreement with those obtained from the Faro Focus. The results demonstrate that the LiVOX system can sufficiently measure even the displacement of a single layer of ballast stones typically between 2.5 cm and 5 cm. The data provided can be easily digitalized using image processing tools and integrated into geographic information systems for infrastructure management.

In this work, we investigated the synthesis temperature effect on the crystal growth of Eu-doped ceria nanostructures synthesized via the microwave-assisted hydrothermal method and how it influences their red-light emission. Sphere-like nanoparticles, nanorods, nanorods/nanocubes, and nanocubes were obtained by gradually increasing the synthesis temperature. The structural analysis revealed that the nanocubes displayed higher crystallinity and lower structural disorder in comparison to the other morphologies. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectroscopy showed that oxygen vacancies were the predominant defect. The intensity of the photoluminescence emissions of the nanocubes was 60 times higher than that of the sphere-like nanoparticles and nanorods, indicating that the structural symmetry in this morphology is suitable for doping with Eu3+, displaying greater photoluminescence efficiency. The nanocubes also displayed excellent red-light emission, with coordinates (0.63,0.37) close to the red RGB primary at (0.64, 0.32). The lifetime values increased with higher synthesis temperatures. This trend suggests a structural correlation of different morphologies, defects, and homogeneity of the Eu3+ distribution in the crystal lattice and the photoluminescence emission and quenching. Therefore, we showed that controlling the morphology of Eu-doped CeO2 nanostructures is a powerful tool to improve its photoluminescence properties, which is valuable for applications as a red phosphor. Minority stress is hypothesized to interfere with sexual orientation disclosure and sexual minority wellbeing. In this study, we investigated whether minority stress is causally linked to reduced disclosure in sexual minorities, and whether emotion regulation, a potentially adaptive form of stigma coping, can intervene to promote disclosure even following exposure to minority stress. Sexual minority adults in the US (N = 168) were recruited online and randomized to a 2 x 2 between-subjects experimental design, where they: 1) received either emotion regulation instructions that asked them to either distance themselves from an emotionally evocative film clip or immerse themselves in the clip, and then 2) viewed either an affirming or a minority stress film clip. Following the film clip, participants completed a written reflection task in which they reflected on the film clip they viewed, which allowed research assistants to subsequently code for participants' spontaneous disclosures of sexual orientation. Participants who viewed the minority stress clip were significantly less likely to spontaneously disclose their sexual orientation in the written task compared to those who viewed the affirming film clip, OR = 3.21, 95% CI [1.14, 9.05], p = .03. Although the emotion regulation manipulation was successful, there was no effect on sexual orientation disclosure. To our knowledge, this is the first study to demonstrate a causal link between minority stress and disclosure in sexual minorities, and thus highlights an important mechanism underlying minority stress's effects on sexual minority wellbeing. Results demonstrate the importance of interventions that affirm marginalized identities and promote safe sexual orientation disclosure. Future research is needed to determine the circumstances under which effective emotion regulation can buffer against the negative emotional effects of minority stress to promote healthy approach behaviors like disclosure in safe contexts.

En este artículo se responden algunos interrogantes respecto del sujeto de la enunciación del complejo grupo cronístico colonial denominado “crónicas mestizas” a través del análisis de uno de sus textos más representativos, Relación de Texcoco (1582) del cronista mestizo texcocano Juan Bautista Pomar. Además de ser una crónica pocas veces abordada desde una perspectiva literaria, este texto, cuyo original se encuentra perdido y del que se conservan apenas algunos capítulos, es ejemplo de las tensiones y arbitrariedades que subyacen al archivo colonial latinoamericano.

El artículo presenta un análisis de la relación entre el sindicalismo y el peronismo en la etapa posterior a 1947, y una descripción del proceso de movilización de los ferroviarios previo a las huelgas de fines de 1950 e inicios de 1951. Desarrolla los efectos que produjo la nacionalización de los ferrocarriles en Argentina, en el sindicato de la Unión Ferroviaria y en la relación de este con el gobierno peronista. De forma pormenorizada, analiza la disputa por la representación sindical de un sector de los trabajadores ferroviarios con la flamante Confederación del Personal Civil de la Nación, en un contexto de intensificación de la conflictividad interna del movimiento peronista y, paralelamente, de fortalecimiento de la voluntad de orden gubernamental. Para poner fin a esta disputa de representación, las negociaciones del sindicato ferroviario con el gobierno incluyeron definir la posición de los dirigentes ferroviarios (y de gran parte de la dirigencia de la Confederación General del Trabajo) respecto del proyecto de reforma del estatuto de la central, que contemplaba la intervención de filiales y la adopción de la doctrina peronista.

In this work, a Detect and Avoid system is presented for the autonomous navigation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Urban Air Mobility (UAM) applications. The current implementation is designed for the operation of multirotor UAVs in UAM corridors. During the operations, unauthorized flying objects may penetrate the corridor airspace posing a risk to the aircraft. In this article, the feasibility of using a solid-state LiDAR (Light Detecting and Ranging) sensor for detecting and positioning these objects was evaluated. For that purpose, a commercial model was simulated using the specifications of the manufacturer along with empirical measurements to determine the scanning pattern of the device. With the point clouds generated by the sensor, the system detects the presence of intruders and estimates their motion to finally compute avoidance trajectories using a Second Order Cone Program (SOCP) in real time. The method was tested in different scenarios, offering robust results. Execution times were of the order of 50 milliseconds, allowing the implementation in real time on modern onboard computers.

Vagally mediated heart rate variability (vmHRV), a measure of the parasympathetic nervous system’s control over the heart, is often negatively related to maladaptive emotional outcomes. Recent work suggests that quadratic relationships involving these factors may be present; however, research has not investigated gender differences in these nonlinear functions. To address this gap, the current study tested for quadratic relationships between resting vmHRV and depression and positive affect while investigating gender differences in these relationships. Significant quadratic effects were found between resting vmHRV and reports of both depression symptoms and positive affect in women but not men. Specifically, the lowest levels of depression and the highest levels of positive affect were found at moderate vmHRV in women. These results suggest that examinations of vmHRV’s nonlinear associations require the consideration of gender. Our findings are interpreted based on proposed differential neuropsychological mechanisms of vmHRV in men versus women.

In this work, a real-time collision avoidance algorithm was presented for autonomous navigation in the presence of fixed and moving obstacles in building environments. The current implementation is designed for autonomous navigation between waypoints of a predefined flight trajectory that would be performed by an UAV during tasks such as inspections or construction progress monitoring. It uses a simplified geometry generated from a point cloud of the scenario. In addition, it also employs information from 3D sensors to detect and position obstacles such as people or other UAVs, which are not registered in the original cloud. If an obstacle is detected, the algorithm estimates its motion and computes an evasion path considering the geometry of the environment. The method has been successfully tested in different scenarios, offering robust results in all avoidance maneuvers. Execution times were measured, demonstrating that the algorithm is computationally feasible to be implemented onboard an UAV.
