The 132 research subjects were stage 5 CKD patients at the HD Unit of RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. The research used the Rank–Spearman test with SPSS for correlative bivariate analysis. The area under the curve (AUC) on the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was analysed to find the SCI cut-off value as a predictor of malnutrition in stage 5 CKD patients.Results: Sixty-three subjects (47.7%) were classified as good nutrition and 69 subjects (52.3%) as poor nutrition. The average SCI value in this study was 24.5 mg/kg/day ± SD 3.2 mg/kg/day, with a median MIS value was 6. This study showed a significant negative correlation between SCI and MIS (r = − 0.586, p < 0.001). The optimal SCI cut-off from the ROC curve analysis value was ≤ 24.53 mg/kg/day (sensitivity = 76.8%; specificity = 79.4%).Conclusion: A negative correlation existed between SCI and MIS, with an SCI value ≤ 24.53 indicating poor nutritional status in stage 5 CKD patients on maintenance HD. SCI can be used as a predictor of malnutrition at a lower cost and easier.Keywords: malnutrition, simplified creatinine index, chronic kidney disease

Oral manifestations of beta-thalassemia major in pregnancy have rarely been reported.Objective: This study aimed to describe a case of oral manifestations in a pregnant woman with beta-thalassemia major for multidisciplinary management.Case: A 27-year-old woman, suffering from beta thalassemia major who is undergoing therapy in the form of routine blood transfusions every month and taking anti-chelation drugs but is currently stopping this because she is pregnant, currently 16 weeks pregnant, complains complained of swollen gums, bleeding, and bad breath. Extraoral examination revealed dry, exfoliative lips. Intraoral examination revealed gingival hyperplasia with erythema, soft consistency, dark red rounded gingival margins, bleeding, true pockets and pain throughout the labial, buccal, palatal, and lingual. There was no history of systemic disease in this patient. Patient has never visited a dentist, either before or now, with complaints about her oral cavity. Hematological parameters showed abnormalities, and peripheral blood examination revealed an infection. The oral diagnoses included gingival enlargement and chronic periodontitis associated with pregnancy and β- thalassemia major.Case Management: Dental management consisted of spooling with 3% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) spooling, chlorine dioxide spray mouthwash, antibiotics, calculus removal, and oral hygiene instructions. Blood transfusions were administered once a month, and anti-chelation therapy was stopped during pregnancy. After three months of multidisciplinary management, the results were satisfactory.Conclusion: Multidisciplinary, collaborative dental and medical management with non-surgical therapy of oral manifestations in pregnant women with beta-thalassemia major showed satisfactory results.Keywords: anti-chelation drug, chlorine dioxide, gingival enlargement, hydrogen peroxide, blood transfusion

Abstract The genetic composition of founding populations is likely to play a key role in determining invasion success. Individual genotypes may differ in habitat preference and environmental tolerance, so their ability to colonize novel environments can be highly variable. Despite the importance of genetic variation on invasion success, its influence on the potential distribution of invaders is rarely investigated. Here, we integrate population genomics and ecological niche models (ENMs) into a single framework to predict the distribution of globally invasive common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) in Australia. We identified three genetic clusters for ragweed and used these to construct cluster‐specific ENMs and characterize within‐species niche differentiation. The potential range of ragweed in Australia depended on the genetic composition and continent of origin of the introduced population. Invaders originating from warmer, wetter climates had a broader potential distribution than those from cooler, drier ones. By quantifying this change, we identified source populations most likely to expand the ragweed distribution. As prevention remains the most effective method of invasive species management, our work provides a valuable way of ranking the threat posed by different populations to better inform management decisions.

Bureau of Labor Statistics in Indonesia notes that musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) is the main category of injury causes in workplaces leading to 30% compensation costs. The purpose of this paper was to know the risk of work position of wire harness companies using workplace ergonomic risk assessment (WERA) for basic workstation improvements. The first step of this research was studying the literature of MSD, work posture, work position, and WERA. It subsequently proceeded with the identification and assessment process using WERA on each type of wiring harness activity. From the research results, it was obtained three jobs indicated causing muscle injury and soreness namely torque job, grommet job, and offline job. Moreover, the problem was supported by complaints from most workers known by using a discomfort survey. Based on the problem, this research was conducted to find out the action levels with WERA method and give improvement recommendation to overcome the problem of musculoskeletal disorders. The results of WERA showed that torque, grommet, and offl ine jobs needed further investigation and improvement with the scores of 31.23, 28.87, and 30.9. Recommendations were then given in the form of personal protective equipment (PPE) to reduce the risk factor scores on contract stress, to provide a new workstation design of torque job, and to add aids for solving other pain problems.

Revegetation projects face the major challenge of sourcing optimal plant material. This is often done with limited information about plant performance and increasingly requires factoring resilience to climate change. Functional traits can be used as quantitative indices of plant performance and guide seed provenancing, but trait values expected under novel conditions are often unknown. To support climate‐resilient provenancing efforts, we develop a trait prediction model that integrates the effect of genetic variation with fine‐scale temperature variation. We train our model on multiple field plantings of Arabidopsis thaliana and predict two relevant fitness traits—days‐to‐bolting and fecundity—across the species' European range. Prediction accuracy was high for days‐to‐bolting and moderate for fecundity, with the majority of trait variation explained by temperature differences between plantings. Projection under future climate predicted a decline in fecundity, although this response was heterogeneous across the range. In response, we identified novel genotypes that could be introduced to genetically offset the fitness decay. Our study highlights the value of predictive models to aid seed provenancing and improve the success of revegetation projects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
