The article presents data of morphological and molecular-genetic analyzes of small lampreys from the Tom River, a typical habitat of the Siberian brook lamprey Lethenteronkessleri (Anikin, 1905), as well as of one specimen of a large lamprey caught in the same period of the year in the Ob River. All studied specimens are similar in the structure of the dental apparatus to lampreys of the upper Ob tributaries and the upper Irtysh basin, and also correspond to the characteristics of Lethenteron camtschaticum. They have one haplotype of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase c subunit I gene, previously described for lampreys from the Ob River basin and the rivers of the White Sea basin. Currently, there is no reason to consider small lampreys of the Tom River as a valid species Lethenteron kessleri. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Data on new findings of the Nikolsky loach Misgurnus nikolskyi in the south of Western Siberia are presented. The maximum distance from the place of the first detection is about 200 km downstream of the Ob River. It has been suggested that the main method of dispersal of the Misgurnus nikolskyi in this region is deliberate introduction. It has been shown that the mtDNA haplotypes of the cyt b locus of the Misgurnus nikolskyi from the Ob River basin are identical to those described from the Lower Amur River basin. The results of the comparative analysis of the size, age and sex composition of the Siberian dace Leuciscus baicalensis from the rivers of the Middle Ob basin (Basandaika River, a second-order tributary, Tom River, a first-order tributary, Ob River, the main watercourse) in 2016–2019 are presented. Differences in the growth rates of dace depending on the type of watercourse were found: the larger the river, the higher the growth rate of specimens. The sex composition is similar in all watercourses; the female-to-male ratio is 1 : 2. Dace from the Tom River is distinguished by the highest prevalence and intensity of invasion by larvae of Opisthorchis felineus (a parasite of the hepatobiliary system of humans and carnivores), 88% and 13.1 ind./fish, respectively, compared to 52% and 4.8 ind./fish in fish from the Ob River. Infection does not depend on the sex of dace. Infection rates increase with the advancing age of fish: the infection prevalence of fish at the age of 5 years reaches 100%. The results of a comparative analysis of the frequency and diversity of axial skeletal anomalies in common roach Rutilus rutilus from four parts of the Angara River with different levels of technogenic load are given. A total of ten types of anomalies have been revealed; two of them occur everywhere. The proportion of adult individuals with anomalies tends to increase during their early ontogenesis as the quality of surface waters degrades. The maximum frequency and diversity of phenodeviants have been recorded in areas exposed to chronic technogenic impact (water pollution class 2–3). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The fish rotan, Perccottus glenii Dybowski, 1877 (Odontobutidae) is one of the most successful fish invaders during 20th and beginning of 21st century in European and Asian fresh waters. The diversity of its parasites within its invaded range was first reviewed by Sokolov, Reshetnikov, et al. (2014). The current paper analyzes new data from 2013 to 2019 on protistan and metazoan parasites of the non‐native populations of this fish. We used information from peer‐reviewed journals, difficult to access grey literature and our own recently obtained original data. 45 literature sources were included in the analysis. The newly‐available data originate from 95 water bodies of 13 river basins, isolated lakes in West Siberia, and Gulf of Finland, spanning a total of eight countries. A total of 132 recently detected parasite species/taxa are listed in this paper. Each species is presented with its location in/on the host, geographical localities, countries, and according literature sources. When available, number of examined fish as well as prevalence and range of intensity of infection are cited from the original source. This review enlarges contemporary knowledge on parasites of non‐native populations of the studied fish species up to 167 species/taxa. Data are presented on fish community structure in ponds and floodplain and mainland lakes in the southern taiga subzone of Western Siberia (within Tomsk region), where a total of 14 fish species have been recorded. The ordering of data on the fish biomass using a factor classification program has allowed us to distinguish three population groups, with one of them including three subgroups. Winter hypoxia is the most important among external factors determining the structure of fish communities. Its absence determines the presence of perch in the fish communities; in turn, the abundance of perch affects the abundance of other fish species. The data on feeding of the Amur sleeper Perccottus glenii in a pond located in the southern taiga subzone in West Siberia obtained in May–October 2017 are presented. A total of 15 components have been identified in its guts. The diet of Amur sleeper is largely composed of larvae of amphibiotic insects and amphibians in spring and fish in summer and autumn periods; the diversity of food composition decreases by autumn. A biogeographical division of northern Eurasia (within the USSR borders as of 1991) based on cluster analysis of the cyclostome and fish fauna composition at 597 sites listed in the Biodat database has been performed. The classification based on the Jaccard similarity coefficients included two regions, 12 subregions, eight provinces, and 11 districts. The division performed explained 67% of the variance of the similarity coefficients, this being 21% higher than the respective value for an earlier scheme (Berg, 1962) that covered a significantly greater territory. Correlation with the climatic regimes and environmental factors identified could explain 82% of fish fauna heterogeneity (the multiple coefficient of correlation was 0.91). The nonorthogonal relations with the temperature regime (67% of the variance of similarity coefficients), landscape and climatic zoning (58%), location within a specific river basin (57%), and provinciality (30%) were the most important factors. The ranges of three alien fish species (rotan Perccottus glenii, sunbleak Leucaspius delineatus, and bleak Alburnus alburnus) in the Ob River basin, West Siberia, have expanded. Our data prove the expansion of rotan and sunbleak ranges to the north. In particular, for the first time, populations of rotan are reported from the lower section of the Ob. We also present new data about range expansion of the studied fish species southward. All three species have probably reached the southern limits of their possible distribution in the Upper Ob system, entering the potamon/rhithron transition zone, because the species under study prefer lowland waters. The spatio-temporal dynamics of their expansion reveals the role of the Ob River as the main invasion corridor, enhancing their distribution mostly in meridional direction. In the system of the Upper Ob, rotan and sunbleak were found by us in isolated ponds and lakes, as well as in floodplain systems. The data show quantitative and qualitative composition of macrozoobenthos of the 12 left-bank confluences of the Middle Ob. The research has documented the presence of various groups, such as Oligohaeta, Diptera, Odonata, Hirudinea, Tabanidae, Trichoptera and Mollusca. The chironomids, molluscs and leeches play a significant role in the generation of biomass in the surveyed streams, and the abundance mostly depends on chironomids, oligochaetes and leeches. In general, zoobenthos abundance ranges from 8.8 (the Shudelka river) to 1839.9 (the Kochebilovka river) ind./m2, biomass is from 0.08 (Tatosh river) to 8.37 (Lozunga river) g/m2. The genus Rutilus is a widely distributed lineage of cyprinids and ranges from West Europe to East Siberia. Although matrilineal phylogeny and phylogeography of western species were already studied, roaches from remaining part of the range were not examined. Phylogenetic analysis based on cytochrome b sequences detected the following three major phylogenetic clades: (i) R. frisii, (ii) R. rutilus s. str., and (iii) group of six Ponto-Caspian taxa: R. caspicus, R. heckelii, R. rutilus aralensis, R. rutilus lacustris, R. schelkovnikovi, and R. stoumboudae. Our results suggest that these 'species' within Ponto-Caspian clade could be a single species ( R. lacustris by priority of description). The Ponto-Caspian clade is most widely distributed among others and covers the freshwaters from the Aegean Sea basin to Laptev Sea tributaries. Both R. rutilus s. str. and Ponto-Caspian clades sympatrically occur in Black Sea and Caspian Sea basins, Azov Sea itself, and even in drainage of White Sea. The vastest zone of contact (approximately 1700 km) was detected in the Volga basin. The spatial pattern of haplotype diversity and the shape of haplotype network argued for multiple refugia in Ponto-Caspian region as well as a rapid post-glacial colonization of Volga River and Siberia. The content of vitamin E in wheat germ oil produced by different manufacturers was determined with a microcalorimetry approach. The maximum amount of tocopherols was shown to be contained in the wheat germ oil produced by mechanical processing of the initial raw material according to Prof. A.B. Vishnyakov's sparing technology. Eight samples of wheat germ oil produced in different processing cycles by OOO SibTar in the years 2011-2015 were analyzed. The synergistic oil components provided the high content of antioxidants, corresponding to the total content of tocopherols ranging from 240 to 420 mg%, which exceeds the reference data. The key elements for obtaining oil with a high content of vitamins are the use of high quality raw materials and pressing without heating or using any solvents. The content of tocopherols for oils produced from crops of different years was found to vary by 40%, depending mostly on growth and storage conditions of the grain. The content of tocopherols in an oil kind could serve as the oil quality criterion. For example, the values of vitamin E content obtained for two of the wheat germ oil samples tested were three times lower than the reference values, which indicates that these oil samples had been diluted with others kinds of oil. The data on infestation of muscles of alien fish species with metacercariae of trematode Opisthorchis felineus Rivolta, 1884 in the Middle Ob River basin are presented. It is shown that bleak and bream are susceptible to infestation with the larvae of cat liver fluke Opisthorchis felineus, but the rates of infestation are low even in the hotbed of opisthorchiasis. To date, 22 alien fish species are known in the Ob River basin. Of them, nine species-Pike-perch Sander lucioperca, Freshwater bream Abramis brama, common carp Cyprinus carpio, belica Leucaspius delineatus, bleak Alburnus alburnus, Stone moroko Pseudorasbora parva, Amur sleeper Perccottus glenii, Nikolsky's loach Misgurnus nikolskyi, and southern ninespine stickleback Pungitius platygaster-formed self-reproducing populations and started self-spreading in natural waterbodies. This paper summarizes the data on invasion of alien fish species in the Ob River basin. The data on history, rate of spread, modern distribution, and relative abundance are given. We analyze Distribution and habitats of the belica ( Leucaspius delineatus), a species accidentally introduced to waterbodies of southwest Siberia. The northern limits of the range of this species in the region are determined. Data are given on the sex ratios, size and age structure, growth, feeding, fecundity, and time and conditions of spawning of the belica in waterbodies of different types. Data are presented on genetic subdivision of populations of roach Rutilus rutilus lacustris, ide Leuciscus idus, and dace L. leuciscus baicalensis living in rivers of West Siberia. These fish species have comparable levels of variation of allozyme loci and similar populational structure which well agrees with geography of the river network of the Ob-Irtysh basin. The study of Cyprinidae in the Novosibirsk Reservoir in periods of high, medium, and low water content demonstrated a high degree of dependence of the numbers of generations of aboriginal fish species on conditions of water level regulation in the spring period. A drastic water discharge via hydraulic structures leads to drying of spawning grounds and mass loss of eggs. The acclimatized species—bream Abramis brama—reproduces at deeper water sites of the water area, which determines its high numbers and domination in the structure of the fish community from the water body.
