Antecedentes: La esterilización tubárica se realiza en un número importante de pacientes jóvenes que por diferentes motivos desean posteriormente un nuevo embarazo, porcentaje que varía entre el 1,3-15%. Hasta ahora la cirugía ha sido la primera alternativa de tratamiento y gracias a la evolución de la técnica y el desarrollo de material quirúrgico, es posible de realizar por vía laparoscópica. Objetivos: Hacer una síntesis de la historia y técnicas utilizadas en la reanastomosis tubárica, los criterios de selección, el estudio preoperatorio, los factores pronósticos y comparar los resultados de la laparotomía y la laparoscopia. Métodos: Se realiza búsqueda en base de datos Medline PubMed usando las palabras clave: tubal anastomosis, reversal of esterilization, infertility, microsurgery, tubal esterilization; se seleccionan todas aquellas publicaciones tipo review de reanastomosis tubárica con microcirugía abierta y todas aquellas de reanastomosis por vía laparoscópica. Resultados: La reanastomosis tubárica por laparotomía con técnica microquirúrgica tiene un éxito entre 60 y 90% de tasas de embarazo. Las primeras publicaciones de la técnica laparoscópica no presentan resultados satisfactorios, sin embargo casuísticas más numerosas y especialmente las que muestran la técnica microlaparoscópica tienen resultados similares con todas las ventajas de la laparoscopia. Conclusión: La recanalización tubaria por vía laparoscopica es una técnica factible, probada y exitosa, alternativa a la laparotomía, sin embargo, para su implementación con resultados satisfactorios es necesario contar con equipamiento apropiado, experiencia previa en cirugía abierta y entrenamiento en cirugía endoscópicaBackground: Tubal ligation is used in a large number of young patients, who frequently want a new pregnancy, the percentage rate ranges from 1.3 to 15%. Until now the standard treatment has been the microsurgical tubal anastomosis through laparotomy, however, the development of new techniques and instruments allowed a laparoscopic approach for this surgery. Objectives: to make a synthesis of the hystory and operatory technics in laparoscopic tubal anastomosis to evaluate the inclusions criteria, the preoperative work-up, the factors of prognosis and to make a comparison between laparotomy and laparoscopy. Methods: We make a search in medline database (PubMed), with the key words: tubal anastomosis, reversal of sterilization, infertility, microsurgery, tubal sterilization, and selecting all of the review publications in microsurgical tubal reanastomosis by laparotomy and all of publications of the laparoscopic technic. Results: The microsurgical tubal anastomosis through laparotomy has a pregnancy rate ranging from 70% to 80%. The first publications whith the laparoscopic technic show dissapointed results, however, papers with bigger casuistics and with the microlaparoscopic technic show the same results that the open technic with all of the advantages of the laparoscopy. Conclusion: Laparoscopic tubal reversal is a feasible, tested and successful alternative to the traditional surgery performed by laparotomy, however, to achieve a successful outcome it is necessary a meticulous surgical technique, adequate equipment and extensive experience with tubal anastomosis by laparotomy and advances laparoscopic techniques

We investigate the electrical asymmetry effect (EAE) and the current dynamics in a geometrically asymmetric capacitively coupled radio frequency plasma driven by multiple consecutive harmonics based on a nonlinear global model. The discharge symmetry is controlled via the EAE, i.e., by varying the total number of harmonics and tuning the phase shifts ( θ k ) between them. Here, we systematically study the EAE in a low pressure (4 Pa) argon discharge with different geometrical asymmetries driven by a multifrequency rf source consisting of 13.56 MHz and its harmonics. We find that the geometrical asymmetry strongly affects the absolute value of the DC self-bias voltage, but its functional dependence on θ k is similar at different values of the geometrical asymmetry. Also, the values of the DC self-bias are enhanced by adding more consecutive harmonics. The voltage drop across the sheath at the powered and grounded electrode is found to increase/decrease, respectively, with the increase in the number of harmonics of the fundamental frequency. For the purpose of validating the model, its outputs are compared with the results obtained in a geometrically and electrically asymmetric 2f capacitively coupled plasmas experiment conducted by Schuengel et al. [J. Appl. Phys. 112, 053302 (2012)]. Finally, we study the self-excitation of nonlinear plasma series resonance oscillations and its dependence on the geometrical asymmetry as well as the phase angles between the driving frequencies. The ecological degradation caused by the industries in the Kola Peninsula has prompted the Scandinavian countries to encourage international cooperation to reverse this trend. The former Soviet Union spearheaded the efforts which resulted in the agreement to the need to modernize the smeltering plants in the peninsula. However, the plan has been temporarily experiencing problems because of the indecision on which technology to use, the breakup of the Soviet Union and the lack of funding for Russia.

Entity reconciliation (ER) aims to combine data from different sources for a unified vision. The management of large volumes of data has given rise to significant challenges to the ER problem due to facts such as data becoming more unstructured, unclean, and incomplete or the existence of many datasets that store information about the same topic. Testing the applications that implement the ER problem is crucial to ensure both the correctness of the reconciliation process and the quality of the reconciled data. This paper presents an approach based on model-driven engineering that allows the creation of test models for the early integration testing of ER applications, contributing in three main aspects: the description of the elements of the proposed framework, the definition of the testing model, and the validation of the proposal through two real-world case studies. This validation verifies that the early integration testing of the ER application is capable of detecting a series of deficiencies, which a priori are not known and that will help to improve the final result that the ER application offers. The behavior of a single frequency capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) driven by 13.56 MHz rf source is investigated using an approach that integrates a nonlinear global analytical model and experimental data. The non linear model consists of a description of the plasma bulk, based on a fluid dynamics approach coupled to a separate model of the sheath. The parameters used in the model are obtained by operating the single frequency CCP experiment (13.56 MHz) in argon at working pressures 73 to 400m torr. Experimentally measured plasma parameters such as the electron density, electron temperature, the discharge symmetry parameter as well as the rf voltage waveforms are the inputs of the theoretical model. Model results of the DC self bias and rf current for various operating pressures and powers are shown. A comparison of the outputs of the numerical results is done with the experimentally obtained values of the DC self bias and rf current. A good quantitative correspondence between them is obtained. Assisted reproductive technologies are a combination of medical strategies designed to treat infertility patients. Ideal stimulation treatment has to be individualized, but one of the main challenges which clinicians face in the everyday clinic is how to select the best medical protocol for a patient. This work aims to look for behavior patterns in this kind of treatments, using fuzzy logic models with the objective of helping gynecologists and embryologists to make decisions that could improve the process of in vitro fertilization. For this purpose, a real-world dataset composed of one hundred and twenty-three (123) patients and five hundred and fifty-nine (559) treatments applied in relation to such patients provided by an assisted reproduction clinic, has been used to obtain the fuzzy models. As conclusion, this work corroborates some known clinic experiences, provides some new ones and proposes a set of questions to be solved in future experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

e-Health Systems quality management is an expensive and hard process that entails performing several tasks such as analysis, evaluation, and quality control. Furthermore, the development of an e-Health System involves great responsibility since people’s health and quality of life depend on the system and services offered. The focus of the following study is to identify the gap in Quality Characteristics for e-Health Systems, by detecting not only which are the most studied, but also which are the most used Quality Characteristics these Systems include. A strategic study is driven in this paper by a Systematic Literature Review so as to identify Quality Characteristics in e-Health. Such study makes information and communication technology organizations reflect and act strategically to manage quality in e-Health Systems efficiently and effectively. As a result, this paper proposes the bases of a Quality Model and focuses on a set of Quality Characteristics to enable e-Health Systems quality management. Thus, we can conclude that this paper contributes to implementing knowledge with regard to the mission and view of e-Health (Systems) quality management and helps understand how current researches evaluate quality in e-Health Systems. The present study investigates gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) based on sodium alginate plasticized with glycerol containing either CH3COOH or LiClO4. The membranes showed ionic conductivity results of 3.1 × 10−4 S/cm for the samples with LiClO4 and 8.7 × 10−5 S/cm for the samples with CH3COOH at room temperature. The samples also showed thermal stability up to 160°C, transparency of up to 90%, surface uniformity and adhesion to glass and steel. Moreover, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis revealed two relaxations for both samples and the Ea values were between 18 and 36 kJ/mol. All the results obtained indicate that alginate-based GPEs can be used as electrolytes in electrochemical devices. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Objective To develop a Bayesian hierarchical model for human onchocerciasis with which to explore the factors that influence prevalence of microfilariae in the Amazonian focus of onchocerciasis and predict the probability of any community being at least mesoendemic (>20% prevalence of microfilariae), and thus in need of priority ivermectin treatment. Methods Models were developed with data from 732 individuals aged 515 years who lived in 29 Yanomami communities along four rivers of the south Venezuelan Orinoco basin. The models' abilities to predict prevalences of microfilariae in communities were compared. The deviance information criterion, Bayesian P-values, and residual values were used to select the best model with an approximate cross-validation procedure. Findings A three-level model that acknowledged clustering of infection within communities performed best, with host age and sex included at the individual level, a river-dependent altitude effect at the community level, and additional clustering of communities along rivers. This model correctly classified 25/29 (86%) villages with respect to their need for priority ivermectin treatment. Conclusion Bayesian methods are a flexible and useful approach for public health research and control planning. Our model acknowledges the clustering of infection within communities, allows investigation of links between individual- or community-specific characteristics and infection, incorporates additional uncertainty due to missing covariate data, and informs policy decisions by predicting the probability that a new community is at least mesoendemic. Structural and functional deficiencies that affect survival during acclimatization are present in micropropagated plants. The current study was carried out to determine the effect of three in vitro culture conditions (autotrophic, mixotrophic and moderate mixotrophic) on the morpho-physiological and biochemical behavior of plantlets of sugar cane propagated in Temporary Immersion Bioreactors (BIT). Morphological and physiological indicators and key enzymes of carbon metabolism were evaluated. Plantlets that were subjected to autotrophic conditions did not survive due to the stress caused by the absence of sucrose in the culture medium. For this reason they could not be evaluated. The best results were obtained for the condition of moderate mixotrophic. In this case, the morphological variables, height of the plants, fresh weight and dry weight, responded positively. The net photosynthesis response in vitro was minimal and increased notably from the second week of acclimatization. Plants with mixotrophic growth showed very high values of transpiration and stomatic conductance at the beginning of the elongation and during the first week of acclimatization. This group of plants took a longer time than the rest in achieving the control of the loss of water and in reaching a functional stability. Plants that showed a bigger activity of pyruvate kinase were those coming from mixotrophic conditions. An inverse behavior was observed in the phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase. The activities of syntase sucrose and the neutral invertase were superior for the mixotrophic conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
