Abstract Background Regular physical activity has been shown to ameliorate cognitive decline associated with aging, and to improve autonomic nervous function. However, the effect of active housework, a form of light to moderate physical activity, on postoperative cognitive function in the elderly remain unknown. The aim of this study is to investigate whether active housework exerts a protective effect against delayed neurocognitive recovery (dNCR), and to explore the role of vagal activity in this relationship. Methods This is a prospective nested case-control study that enrolled 152 elderly patients scheduled for elective knee replacement surgery. The neuropsychological assessments were conducted to evaluate dNCR both preoperatively and one week postoperatively. Physical activity levels were quantified based on the Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly and categorized into active housework and sedentary behavior groups using hierarchical clustering. High-frequency spectral analysis of heart rate variability was used to assess vagal activity. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was employed to examine the association between active housework, vagal activity, and dNCR. Additionally, mediation analysis was performed to explore the possible mediating effect of vagal activity. Results dNCR occurred in 33/141 (23.4%) patients. Active housework was associated with 84.7% lower odds of developing dNCR [OR = 0.153, 95% CI (0.042 to 0.550), p = 0.004]. Abstract The classification of remote sensing images is inherently challenging due to the complexity, diversity, and sparsity of the data across different image samples. Existing advanced methods often require substantial modifications to model architectures to achieve optimal performance, resulting in complex frameworks that are difficult to adapt. To overcome these limitations, we propose a lightweight ensemble method, enhanced by pure data correction, called the Exceptionally Straightforward Ensemble. This approach eliminates the need for extensive structural modifications to models. A key innovation in our method is the introduction of a novel strategy, quantitative augmentation, implemented through a plug-and-play module. This strategy effectively corrects feature distributions across remote sensing data, significantly improving the performance of Convolutional Neural Networks and Vision Transformers beyond traditional data augmentation techniques. Furthermore, we propose a straightforward algorithm to generate an ensemble network composed of two components, serving as the proposed lightweight classifier. We evaluate our method on three well-known datasets, with results demonstrating that our ensemble models outperform 48 state-of-the-art methods published since 2020, excelling in accuracy, inference speed, and model compactness. Specifically, our models achieve an overall accuracy of up to 96.8%, representing a 1.1% improvement on the challenging NWPU45 dataset. Moreover, the smallest model in our ensemble reduces parameters by up to 90% and inference time by 74%. Notably, our approach significantly enhances the performance of Convolutional Neural Networks and Vision Transformers, even with limited training data, thus alleviating the performance dependence on large-scale datasets. In summary, our data-driven approach offers an efficient, accessible solution for remote sensing image classification, providing an elegant alternative for researchers in geoscience fields who may have limited time or resources for model optimization.

Background: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is one of the most important hospital acquired infections in patients requiring mechanical ventilation (MV) in the intensive care unit, but the effective and robust predictable tools for VAP prevention were relatively lacked. Methods: This study aimed to establish a weighted risk scoring system to examine VAP risk among a two-stage VAP case-control study, and to evaluate the diagnostic performance of risk factor score (RFS) for VAP. We constructed a prediction model by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), random forest (RF), and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) models in 363 patients and 363 controls, and weighted RFS was calculated based on significant predictors. Finally, the diagnostic performance of the RFS was testified and further validated in another 177 pairs of VAP case-control study. Results: LASSO, RF and XGBoost consistently revealed significant associations of length of stay before MV, MV time, surgery, tracheotomy, multiple drug resistant organism infection, C-reactive protein, PaO2, and APACHE II score with VAP. RFS was significantly linearly associated with VAP risk [odds ratio and 95 % confidence interval = 2.699 (2.347, 3.135)], and showed good discriminations for VAP both in discovery stage [area under the curve (AUC) = 0.857] and validation stage (AUC = 0.879). Conclusions: Results of this study revealed co-occurrence of multiple predictors for VAP risk. The risk factor scoring system proposed is a potentially useful predictive tool for clinical targets for VAP prevention.

Abstract Background Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a complication caused by end-stage diabetes mellitus and usually results in glomerular podocyte injury. Exosomes are important for intercellular information exchange. However, the effect of podocyte exosomes on DKD has not been elucidated. Methods GEO, PROMO, and GSE1009 databases were used to identify the gene APOC1 and transcription factor HOXD9. qRT-PCR, western blot, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were investigated to confirm APOC1 change in high glucose-treated podocytes and exosomes. Flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, qPCR, immunoblotting, wound healing, Transwell invasion assays, dual luciferase assay, and ChIP-PCR assay were performed to detect the effect of APOC1 and HOXD9 on macrophage polarization in high glucose-treated podocytes and exosomes. qRT-PCR and immunoblotting assays were employed to assess the impact of APOC1 knockdown on the M1 polarization of macrophages in response to liraglutide treatment. Results The results suggested that the expression of APOC1 in human podocytes (HPC) and exosomes was elevated. High glucose-treated HPC exosomes promoted macrophage M1-type polarization, which was reversed by adding sh-APOC1. Afterward, HOXD9 was identified as a potential transcription factor for APOC1. Knockdown of HOXD9 led to macrophage M2 polarization, and overexpression of APOC1 polarized macrophage M1. In addition, enhanced p65 phosphorylation verified that HOXD9/APOC1 induced macrophage M1-type polarization by activating the NF-κB signaling pathway. Knocking down APOC1 enhanced the inhibitory effect of liraglutide on macrophage M1 polarization. Conclusion Our findings highlighted that HOXD9/APOC1 was a key player in causing podocyte injury in diabetic kidney disease and led to macrophage M1 polarization through the NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract Background Advance care planning (ACP) is pivotal in mitigating end-of-life suffering and ensuring healthcare congruence with the values of older adults and dignity in death. Despite its paramount importance, the current readiness for ACP among community-dwelling older adults and the intricate influencing factors have yet to be explored. Objective To review the literature focusing on ACP readiness among community-dwelling older adults and the influencing factors. Methods A scoping review conducted using the Arksey and O’Malley (2005) framework. Electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane, Web of Science, PsycINFO), as well as grey literature databases (OpenGrey and GreyLit.org) were searched to identify studies published in English between January 2012 and March 2023. Results 19 studies were selected, comprising 3 qualitative, 13 quantitative, 2 mixed-methods, and 1 review article. The study evaluated the readiness of older adults for ACP by examining their knowledge and attitudes. It categorizes influencing factors into intrinsic and extrinsic levels. This review revealed that the knowledge about ACP among older adults across all settings was limited. However, they had positive attitudes toward it. In addition, intrinsic factors including sociodemographic characteristics, psychological factors, and family relationships, along with extrinsic factors including health care professionals’ attitudes and experience, as well as policies and laws, influenced the ACP readiness among older adults. Conclusions This study established the groundwork for future ACP intervention trials, providing a theoretical framework to guide their design and implementation. operationalization.

Abstract Grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) is a natural polyphenolic compound, which plays an important role in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of GSPE supplementation on the cholesterol metabolism and antioxidant status of finishing pigs. In longissimus dorse (LD) muscle, the data showed that GSPE significantly decreased the contents of total cholesterol (T-CHO) and triglyceride (TG), and decreased the mRNA expression of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoAR) and Fatty acid synthase (FAS), while increased the mRNA expression of carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1b (CPT1b), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARα) and peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α). GSPE also reduced the enzyme activities of HMG-CoAR and FAS, and meanwhile amplified the activity of CPT1b in LD muscle of finishing pigs. Furthermore, dietary GSPE supplementation increased the serum catalase (CAT) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), serum and liver total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) levels, while reduced serum and liver malondialdehyde (MDA) level in finishing pigs. In the liver, Superoxide Dismutase 1 (SOD1), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1), Nuclear Factor erythroid 2-Related Factor 2 (NRF2) mRNA levels were increased by GSPE. In conclusion, this study showed that GSPE might be an effective dietary supplement for improving cholesterol metabolism and antioxidant status in finishing pigs.

Improper storage of post-harvest fruits leads to significant losses, especially due to microbial-induced decay. Understanding the naturally occurring microbial communities on fruit surfaces and their functions is the first step in the development of new strategies for controlling post-harvest fruit decay. These new strategies could generate significant economic value by improving fruit preservation and extending the shelf-life of fruit. In the present study, 16S rRNA and ITS high-throughput sequencing technologies were used to analyze the diversity and composition of microorganisms on the surfaces of four different fruit varieties: three plum varieties and one apple variety, all from the same orchard in Donghe District, Baotou City, China. The results displayed no notable difference in bacterial diversity on the surfaces of the four varieties of fruits (P > 0.05), but there were significant differences in fungal diversity (P < 0.05). The most abundant bacterial phyla detected on the fruit surfaces were Proteobacteria, Bacteroidota, and Firmicutes; the most abundant fungal phyla were Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, and Mortierellomycota. Though microbial compositions on the fruit surfaces differed between the fruits, the surface microbial community structure of the three plum varieties exhibited higher similarity, indicating that fruit type is a key factor influencing the composition of surface microorganisms. There were also differences in the epidermal microbial community composition between the fruits involved in this study and fruits of the same species reported from other regions, suggesting that geographical factors also play a critical role in microbial composition. The correlation analysis revealed significant associations between the microorganisms with the highest abundance on the surface of the fruits, suggesting the existence of symbiotic and mutualistic relationships between these microorganisms, but the specific mechanisms behind these relationships need to be further explored. This study provides a basis for the establishment of post-harvest fruit preservation strategies.

The pellet injection technique is considered a primary method for fueling future fusion devices. The inclusion of the E×B particle drift effect is essential in the simulation to reproduce the actual particle transport of injected pellets and the changes in energy flux in the divertor region. In this study, the dynamic neutral gas shield model is coupled with the edge plasma code SOLPS-ITER, utilizing initial data referencing from EAST experiments. The investigation focuses on the effects of the E×B drift on the ablation of injected fuel pellets, particle transport, and heat flux in the divertor region. The simulation results show that the poloidal component of the E×B drift velocity causes the dispersion of ions and electrons produced by the ionization of ablated atoms from the pellet, which would accumulate around the pellet if the E×B drift is not considered. Under unfavorable toroidal magnetic field conditions, a significant accumulation of ions produced by the ionization of D atoms introduced by the injected pellet is observed near the outer target. Moreover, both the change and duration of energy flux variations in the outer target region are higher when compared with the case without E×B drift.

In this article, we define three-dimensional q-Riordan arrays and q-Riordan representations for these arrays. Also, we give four cases of infinite multiplication three-dimensional matrices of these arrays. As applications, we obtain three-dimensional qq-Pascal-like matrix and its inverse matrix by Heine’s binomial formula, using combinatorial identities. Finally, we consider the generalization of three-dimensional qq-Pascal-like matrix and give some identities involving qq-binomial coefficients.

Behavioral reasoning of communication radiation sources refers to inferring their behavioral patterns and target intentions through observing and analyzing the signals emitted by communication radiation sources. Especially under non-cooperative conditions, the reasoning behind the behavior of communication radiation sources plays an essential role in the fields of electronic reconnaissance and signal intelligence. This article first clarifies and summarizes the definition and classification of the behavior of communication radiation sources. It then elucidates the meaning of behavioral reasoning of communication radiation sources and further distinguishes the differences and connections between behavioral analysis and behavioral recognition. Subsequently, it reviews the key technologies of behavioral reasoning for communication radiation sources and compares the latest research based on clustering algorithms, classification algorithms, deep learning, and behavioral characteristics. Finally, it analyzes and forecasts the challenges and development of the technology for behavioral reasoning of communication radiation sources.

Abstract Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) affects up to 20% of critically ill patients and induces significant antibiotic prescription pressure, accounting for half of all antibiotic use in the ICU. VAP significantly increases hospital length of stay and healthcare costs yet is also associated with long-term morbidity and mortality. The diagnosis of VAP continues to present challenges and pitfalls for the currently available clinical, radiological and microbiological diagnostic armamentarium. Biomarkers and artificial intelligence offer an innovative potential direction for ongoing future research. In this Review, we summarise the pathobiological heterogeneity and diagnostic challenges associated with VAP.

BackgroundIt remains unclear whether the current recommended ablation index (AI) value is suitable for individualized catheter ablation. Prior research has established that the elimination of the negative component of the unipolar electrogram (UP-EGM) applications reflects the formation of transmural lesion during radiofrequency ablation. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between AI values when UP-EGM turns positive during pulmonary vein isolation and recommended AI values.MethodsA total of 50 patients with drug-refractory PAF who underwent index RFCA were consecutively included from September 2022 to January 2023. All the patients underwent AI-guided ablation. UP-EGM was also recorded during the procedure. The difference in the AI between the value when the UP-EGM turned completely positive [AIUP-EGM(+)] and the recommended value at the end of ablation (AIEND) was compared.ResultsA total of 2 954 lesion points were detected in 50 patients. The average values of AIUP-EGM(+) at the anterior wall and the posterior wall were 420.9 and 267.4, respectively. The average AIEND values were 524.3 and 393.9 at the anterior wall and the posterior wall, respectively. Abstract The stabilization problem for uncertain discrete‐time singular Markovian jump systems (DSMJSs) with time‐varying delays is comprehensively covered in this paper. An updated Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional is presented via a discrete state decomposition method. With the help of this constructed Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional, some delay‐ and mode‐dependent sufficient conditions for the open‐loop DSMJSs are derived. Based on these circumstances, a memory mode‐dependent state feedback control is used to create a closed‐loop DSMJS with parameter uncertainties that is regular and causal. And then, the stochastically admissible conditions are attained. Through the exact calculation of each decomposition component for the designed memory state feedback controller, the intended memory state feedback controller settings are determined. It should be mentioned that the algorithm suggested in this article expands the controller design's feasibility and flexibility. The numerical results show how the approach is superior to previous ones, and the given results are less conservative.

Abstract Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are commonly used for gastric acid-related disorders, but their safety profile and risk stratification for high-burden diseases need further investigation. Analyzing over 2 million participants from five prospective cohorts from the US, the UK, and China, we found that PPI use correlated with increased risk of 15 leading global diseases, such as ischemic heart disease, diabetes, respiratory infections, and chronic kidney disease. These associations showed dose-response relationships and consistency across different PPI types. PPI-related absolute risks increased with baseline risks, with approximately 82% of cases occurring in those at the upper 40% of the baseline predicted risk, and only 11.5% of cases occurring in individuals at the lower 50% of the baseline risk. While statistical association does not necessarily imply causation, its potential safety concerns suggest that personalized use of PPIs through risk stratification might guide appropriate decision-making for patients, clinicians, and the public.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to further characterize the ultrafiltration (UF) method for determining free saccharide levels in glycoconjugate vaccines and compare it with other methods used for the determination of free saccharide levels in meningococcal glycoconjugate vaccines. Methods: We performed experiments on both meningococcal glycoconjugates and capsular polysaccharides, and compared UF, deoxycholate (DOC) precipitation, and solid-phase extraction (SPE) methods. Meningococcal capsular polysaccharides from groups A (MenA), C (MenC), and W (MenW) were depolymerized and characterized using SEC-MALS (size-exclusion chromatography with multi-angle laser light scattering) to determine the molecular weight and hydrodynamic size and then subjected to UF. The free saccharide content was quantified using HPAEC-PAD (high-performance anion-exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection). Results: The characterization of size-reduced group C polysaccharide revealed weight-average molecular mass (Mw) ranging from 22,200 g/mol to 287,300 g/mol and hydrodynamic radii of 3.7 to 19.5 nm. Pore size studies confirmed that polysaccharides with diameters up to 15 nm filtered through the 100 kDa cellulose membrane. The smallest PS fragment tested (22,200 g/mol, 7.4 nm diameter) was partially recovered from the 30 kDa membrane. For MenC-CRM197, DOC yielded the lowest free saccharide content (197, UF and DOC consistently provided low free saccharide levels (Conclusions: The upper limits on the size of free group C meningococcal polysaccharides that can be ultrafiltered were assessed. Differences in the relative amount of free saccharide were observed between various methods used to control meningococcal conjugate vaccines.

Abstract The issue of robust stability here is carefully thought about for uncertain neutral type descriptor systems (NTDSs) with mixed delays. An augmented Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional considering the cross information of the singular matrix and state delay derivative is constructed. With the help of the zero‐value equation technique and an improved matrix inequality, a novel delay‐dependent admissible criterion is developed to make sure of the regularity, non‐impulsiveness, and stability of the NTDSs. On this basis, the robust stability of the uncertain NTDSs is further explored, and a novel robust stability criterion is developed. These criteria have less conservatism. Through three number‐based examples, some comparisons are provided to show the superiority and effectiveness of our method.

Abstract Background Thoracotomy is considered one of the most painful surgical procedures and can cause debilitating chronic post-surgical pain lasting months or years postoperatively. Aggressive management of acute pain resulting from thoracotomy may reduce the likelihood of developing chronic pain. This trial compares the two most commonly used modes of acute analgesia provision at the time of thoracotomy (thoracic epidural blockade (TEB) and paravertebral blockade (PVB)) in terms of their clinical and cost-effectiveness in preventing chronic post-thoracotomy pain. Methods TOPIC 2 is a multi-centre, open-label, parallel group, superiority, randomised controlled trial, with an internal pilot investigating the use of TEB and PVB in 1026 adult (≥ 18 years old) patients undergoing thoracotomy in up to 20 thoracic centres throughout the UK. Patients (N = 1026) will be randomised in a 1:1 ratio to receive either TEB or PVB. During the first year, the trial will include an integrated QuinteT (Qualitative Research Integrated into Trials) Recruitment Intervention (QRI) with the aim of optimising recruitment and informed consent. The primary outcome is the incidence of chronic post-surgical pain at 6 months post-randomisation defined as ‘worst chest pain over the last week’ equating to a visual analogue score greater than or equal to 40 mm indicating at least a moderate level of pain. Secondary outcomes include acute pain, complications of regional analgesia and surgery, health-related quality of life, mortality and a health economic analysis. Discussion Both TEB and PVB have been demonstrated to be effective in the prevention of acute pain following thoracotomy and nationally practice is divided. Identification of which mode of analgesia is both clinically and cost-effective in preventing chronic post-thoracotomy pain could ameliorate the debilitating effects of chronic pain, improving health-related quality of life, facilitating return to work and caring responsibilities and resulting in a cost saving to the NHS. Abstract Background Infertility affects approximately 10–15% of reproductive-age men worldwide, and genetic causes play a role in one-third of cases. As a Bin-Amphiphysin-Rvs (BAR) domain protein, protein interacting with C-kinase 1 (PICK1) deficiency could lead to impairment of acrosome maturation. However, its effects on auxiliary germ cells such as Sertoli cells are unknown. Purpose The present work was aimed to use multi-omics analysis to research the effects of PICK1 deficiency on Sertoli cells and to identify effective biomarkers to distinguish fertile males from infertile males caused by PICK1 deficiency. Methods Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed on 20 infertility patients with oligozoospermia to identify pathogenic PICK1 mutations. Multi-omics analysis of a PICK1 knockout (KO) mouse model was utilized to identify pathogenic mechanism. Animal and cell function experiments of Sertoli cell-specific PICK1 KO mouse were performed to verify the functional impairment of Sertoli cells. Results Two loss-of-function deletion mutations c.358delA and c.364delA in PICK1 resulting in transcription loss of BAR functional domain were identified in infertility patients with a specific decrease in serum inhibin B, indicating functional impairment of Sertoli cells. Multi-omics analysis of PICK1 KO mouse illustrated that targeted genes of differentially expressed microRNAs and mRNAs are significantly enriched in the negative regulatory role in the vesicle trafficking pathway, while metabolomics analysis showed that the metabolism of amino acids, lipids, cofactors, vitamins, and endocrine factors changed. The phenotype of PICK1 KO mouse showed a reduction in testis volume, a decreased number of mature spermatozoa and impaired secretory function of Sertoli cells. In vitro experiments confirmed that the expression of growth factors secreted by Sertoli cells in PICK1 conditional KO mouse such as Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) and Fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) were decreased. Conclusions Our study attributed male infertility caused by PICK1 deficiency to impaired vesicle-related secretory function of Sertoli cells and identified a variety of significant candidate biomarkers for male infertility induced by PICK1 deficiency.

Abstract Background A cost-effective pretreatment and saccharification process is a necessary prerequisite for utilizing lignocellulosic biomass (LCB) in biofuel and biomaterials production. Utilizing a multifunctional enzyme with both pretreatment and saccharification functions in a single step for simultaneous biological pretreatment and saccharification process (SPS) will be a green method of low cost and high efficiency. Manganese peroxidase (MnP, EC 1.11.1.13), a well-known lignin-degrading peroxidase, is generally preferred for the biological pretreatment of biomass. However, exploring the role and performance of MnP in LCB conversion will promote the application of MnP for lignocellulose-based biorefineries. Results In this study, we explored the ability of an MnP from Moniliophthora roreri, MrMnP, in LCB degradation. With Mn2+ and H2O2, MrMnP decomposed 5.0 g/L carboxymethyl cellulose to 0.14 mM of reducing sugar with a conversion yield of 5.0 mg/g, including 40 μM cellobiose, 70 μM cellotriose, 20 μM cellotetraose, and 10 μM cellohexaose, and degraded 1.0 g/L mannohexaose to 0.33 μM mannose, 4.08 μM mannotriose, and 4.35 μM mannopentaose. Meanwhile, MrMnP decomposed 5.0 g/L lichenan to 0.85 mM of reducing sugar with a conversion yield of 30.6 mg/g, including 10 μM cellotriose, 20 μM cellotetraose, and 80 μM cellohexose independently of Mn2+ and H2O2. Moreover, the versatility of MrMnP in LCB deconstruction was further verified by decomposing locust bean gum and wheat bran into reducing sugars with a conversion yield of 54.4 mg/g and 29.5 mg/g, respectively, including oligosaccharides such as di- and tri-saccharides. The catalytic mechanism underlying MrMnP degraded lignocellulose was proposed as that with H2O2, MrMnP oxidizes Mn2+ to Mn3+. Subsequently, it forms a complex with malonate, facilitating the degradation of CMC and mannohexaose into reducing sugars. Without H2O2, MrMnP directly oxidizes malonate to hydroperoxyl acetic acid radical to form compound I, which then attacks the glucosidic bond of lichenan. Conclusion This study identified a new function of MrMnP in the hydrolysis of cellulose and hemicellulose, suggesting that MrMnP exhibits its versatility in the pretreatment and saccharification of LCB. The results will lead to an in-depth understanding of biocatalytic saccharification and contribute to forming new enzymatic systems for using lignocellulose resources to produce sustainable and economically viable products and the long-term development of biorefinery, thereby increasing the productivity of LCB as a green resource.

Sensory brand experience is a fundamental and central brand experience. Its influencing mechanism on brand outcome variables still needs to be clarified. This study proposed a new SEM model to explore the influencing mechanism from sensory brand experience to brand loyalty and tested it using SmartPLS 4 software. Data were gathered through a web-based questionnaire survey of 304 Chinese consumers. The results show that sensory brand experience is vital in fostering brand loyalty. It impacts brand loyalty both directly and indirectly. The mediating effect of brand attitude is much higher than the mediating effect of brand-self connection, which means that in some situations, a strong emotional bond is not essential for brand success. The results also reveal the moderating effect of gender on relationships in the model. The key gender difference is that the male group does not have a mediation path through brand-self connection, while the female group has. This study expands the research on brand experience and sheds light on developing brand loyalty. Gender differences should be considered when developing sensory marketing strategies. Especially for women, creating sensory brand experiences that elicit strong emotional connections has positive effects on brand loyalty.

Abstract Aim To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Advance Care Planning Readiness Scale (ACPRS‐C) within the context of community‐dwelling older adults with chronic diseases residing in suburban counties in China. Design Descriptive, cross‐sectional survey. Methods The research method employed in this study is characterized as a methodological study. Self‐reported survey data were collected among community‐dwelling older adults with chronic diseases residing in suburban counties in China. Including the following psychometric characteristics, item analysis was performed using the decision value method and Pearson's correlation analysis. Content validity was assessed through expert panel evaluation. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was determined by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient and corrected item‐total correlation. Additionally, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was utilized to assess the construct validity of the ACPRS‐C. Results A total of 228 older adults participated in this psychometric study from August to October 2023. The item content validity index ranged from 0.80 to 1.00, while the scale content validity index was 0.945. The scale demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.931), and the correlation between items and total score was satisfactory. The structural validity was deemed robust (CFA model fit: chi‐square/df = 1.121, comparative fit index = 0.992). Conclusion The ACPRS‐C is a scale with strong psychometric properties to assess the ACP readiness within the context of community‐dwelling older adults with chronic diseases residing in suburban counties in China. Its reliability and validity hold considerable significance for both research and clinical practice.

The decomposition and oxidation of fat is essential for the formation and quality of the unique flavor of sausage. To explore the effect of lactic acid bacteria on fat decomposition and oxidation in fermented sausage, free fatty acids and volatile flavor compounds were determined by gas chromatography (GC) and headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME)-GC–MS, respectively. The results showed that the addition of Lactobacillus helveticus IMAUJBH1 inhibited fat peroxidation and relatively increased the proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids. A total of 47 volatile flavor compounds were detected, including aldehydes, esters, alcohols, and ketones. The content of substances such as hexanal, heptanal, nonanal and 1-octene-3-ol related to lipid oxidation was significantly reduced. The results obtained in this study show that the strain can further affect the flavor of the product by inhibiting the formation of lipid oxidation or peroxide flavor substances to a certain extent.

Objectives Social isolation may affect diabetes self-management. This study aimed to explore the relations between social isolation and glycaemic control in patients with diabetes and to explore lifestyle differences among individuals with different levels of social isolation.Methods The relevant data of 665 people previously diagnosed with diabetes included in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study from 2011 to 2015 were extracted and analysed. The study included patient general information, blood glucose, lipids, glycosylated haemoglobin, social isolation index, health-related lifestyle factors and diabetes-related factors. Differences in metabolic abnormalities and modifiable lifestyles were compared among patients with varying levels of social isolation.Results Multiple linear regression analysis demonstrated that among men aged 45–64 years, the high social isolation group had significantly higher glycosylated haemoglobin levels compared with the low isolation group (7.29±1.81 vs 6.59±1.63, p=0.026). A positive correlation was observed between social isolation and blood glucose (β=14.16; 95% CI 2.75 to 25.57; p=0.015) and glycosylated haemoglobin (β=0.35; 95% CI 0.10 to 0.60; p=0.006), indicating that higher social isolation was associated with higher fasting blood glucose and glycosylated haemoglobin levels. However, no significant associations were observed in other age groups. Notably, men aged 45–65 years with high social isolation had higher depression rates (44.10% vs 24.60%, p=0.024), lower engagement in moderate exercise (5.70% vs 23.50%, p=0.019) and shorter 10-minute walks (17.10% vs 36.80%, p=0.027). Differences in other health-related and diabetes-related factors were not statistically significant.Conclusion Middle-aged men with diabetes with higher social isolation tend to have higher blood glucose and glycosylated haemoglobin levels. This subset of patients requires targeted attention to provide social support from family and friends for improved glycaemic control. If necessary, education on diabetes should be made available to family members and friends.

Abstract Embryogenic tissue (ET) is important for genetic modification and plant re-generation. The proliferation ability and vigor of ET are crucial for plant propagation via somatic embryogenesis. In this study, ET was induced from mature zygotic embryos in blue spruce (Picea pungens Engelm.). There were significant differences in ET induction between two provenances, i.e. 78.8 ± 12.5% and 62.50 ± 12.8% respectively. Effects of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D), 6-Benzyl amino-purine (6-BA) and/or sucrose on ET proliferation and somatic embryo (SE) maturation were further investigated with four cell lines. The highest ET proliferation rate reached 1473.7 ± 556.0% biweekly. Concentrations of 2,4-D or 6-BA applied at tissue proliferation stage impacted SE maturation among the cell lines, whereas sucrose showed less effects. The highest rate, 408 ± 230 mature SEs/g FW, was achieved in SE maturation cultures. This research demonstrated that the culture conditions, i.e. the specific concentrations of 2,4-D and BA, at ET proliferation stage affected not only ET growth, but also the quality of ET for SE maturation. This study revealed the necessity and benefit in developing both the general and the genotype-specific protocols for efficient production of mature SEs, or somatic plants in blue spruce.

Abstract Objectives To explore the impact of visceral obesity (VO) measured by preoperative abdominal computed tomography (CT) on postoperative infectious complications for colorectal cancer (CRC) patients and establish a predictive model. Methods Patients who underwent resection for colorectal cancer between January 2015 and January 2021 were enrolled in this study. All patients were measured for body mass index (BMI) and visceral fat area (VFA) preoperatively. Infectious complications were compared between the different groups according to BMI and VO categories. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze whether VO was an independent risk factor for postoperative infectious complications. According to the results of logistic regression, six machine learning approaches were used to establish predictive models and perform internal validation. Abstract Background To dynamically monitor the changes of genomic characteristics during lorlatinib treatment and analyze the resistance profile of lorlatinib in ALK‐positive advanced Chinese patients with non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with first‐ and second‐generation ALK inhibitor resistance. Methods Ten eligible patients who were from a phase 2 study in China and admitted to the Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital were analyzed. Blood samples were collected for next‐generation sequencing (NGS) to characterize genetic variation at baseline, during treatment, and after disease progression. Results Among the 10 patients treated with lorlatinib, objective response rate (ORR) was 50%. The median progression‐free survival (PFS) was 13.3 months, and median overall survival (OS) was 15.6 months. At baseline, the mutation frequency of ALK in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) was higher in the group who received two lines of previous anaplastic lymphoma kinase‐tyrosine kinase inhibitors (ALK‐TKIs), and a similar trend was observed for TP53. After one follow‐up cycle, the decreased variant allele frequency (VAF) had a trend to be predictive for responses. In six patients in which blood samples had been taken after lorlatinib resistance, ALK compound mutations were found in three patients (50%), which were G1202R/L1196M, L1196M/D1203N, and G1202R/F1174C. The DNMT3A N403Tfs*4, ERCC3 E259D, and GNAS p.A436_P459del variants were only detected after progression in two of the other three patients without ALK compound mutations. Conclusions The dynamic changes of genomic characteristics during lorlatinib treatment revealed the mutation landscape of Chinese patients with NSCLC after ALK‐TKI resistance, indicated that the resistance profile of lorlatinib were heterogeneous, which laid the foundation for subsequent treatment to overcome lorlatinib resistance.

Background: Suppressor APC domain containing 2 (SAPCD2) is involved in cell cycle regulation and its mRNA levels are higher in cancer tissues. But, the function of SAPCD2 in cancer development remains unclear.Objective: To generate mouse monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) specific to SAPCD2 and thus clarify the function of SAPCD2 in the development of gastric carcinoma (GC).Methods: Purified SAPCD2-GST immunized BALB/c mouse spleen cells were collected and fused with myeloma cells to obtain monoclonal antibody hybridoma. A group of monoclonal antibodies exhibiting high specificity and sensitivity against SAPCD2 has been generated and characterized by IHC, WB, IP, IF, and ELISA. This paper focuses on achieving leader-follower mean square consensus in semi-Markov jump multi-agent systems. To effectively reduce communication costs and control updates, we propose an event-triggered protocol based on stochastic sampling. The stochastic sampling interval randomly switches between finite given values, while the event-triggered function depends on the stochastic sampled data from neighboring agents. Using the event-triggered strategy, we present sufficient conditions to ensure mean square consensus. Finally, we provide a numerical example demonstrating the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Long-term exposure to microgravity is considered to cause liver lipid accumulation, thereby increasing the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) among astronauts. However, the reasons for this persistence of symptoms remain insufficiently investigated. In this study, we used tandem mass tag (TMT)-based quantitative proteomics techniques, as well as non-targeted metabolomics techniques based on liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS), to comprehensively analyse the relative expression levels of proteins and the abundance of metabolites associated with lipid accumulation in rat liver tissues under simulated microgravity conditions. The differential analysis revealed 63 proteins and 150 metabolites between the simulated microgravity group and the control group. By integrating differentially expressed proteins and metabolites and performing pathway enrichment analysis, we revealed the dysregulation of major metabolic pathways under simulated microgravity conditions, including the biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids, linoleic acid metabolism, steroid hormone biosynthesis and butanoate metabolism, indicating disrupted liver metabolism in rats due to weightlessness. Finally, we examined differentially expressed proteins associated with lipid metabolism in the liver of rats exposed to stimulated microgravity. These findings contribute to identifying the key molecules affected by microgravity and could guide the design of rational nutritional or pharmacological countermeasures for astronauts.

The sustainable development of Rural Revitalization Talent Training (RRTT) is a key prerequisite for realizing the rural revitalization strategy. In order to study the influence of various stakeholders on RRTT, explore its optimal development path, and clarify the key control factors, this study analyzes the behavioral decision-making of RRTT stakeholders for the first time, and constructs an evolutionary game model of the government, universities and village collectives. Through dynamic decision replication analysis and evolutionary stability analysis, the game relationship among the three stakeholders is discussed. Furthermore, through numerical simulation, the decision-making characteristics of the three parties "behaviors and the evolution trend of the stakeholders" behaviors under the current situation are evaluated, the sensitivity of the key control factors with the policy changes is analyzed, and the feasibility of its implementation is discussed. The results show that the input cost of village collectives is the main determinant of RRTT, and appropriate financial input and low incentive policies are more conducive to universities and village collectives to actively promote RRTT. The research results provide decision-making basis for the implementation of rural revitalization strategy.

Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is known to enhance DNA damage levels and is involved in respiratory diseases. Exosomes can carry noncoding RNAs, especially long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), as regulators of DNA damage, which participate in diseases. However, their role in PM2.5-induced childhood asthma remains unclear. We performed RNA-seq to profile aberrantly expressed exosomal lncRNAs derived from PM2.5-treated human bronchial epithelial (HBE) cell models. The role of exosomal lncRNAs in childhood asthma was determined in a case–control study. The intercellular communication mechanisms of exosomal lncRNA on DNA damage were determined in vitro. Exosomes secreted by PM2.5-treated HBE cells (PM2.5-Exos) could increase the DNA damage levels of recipient HBE cells and promote the expression levels of airway remodeling-related markers in sensitive human bronchial smooth muscle cells (HBSMCs). LncRNA PM2.5-associated exosomal transcript (PAET) was highly expressed in PM2.5-Exos and was associated with PM2.5 exposure in childhood asthma. Mechanistically, exosomal lncRNA PAET promoted methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) accumulation by increasing its stability, which stimulated N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification of cytochrome c oxidase subunit 4I1 (COX4I1), and COX4I1 levels were decreased in a mechanism dependent on the m6A “reader” YTH domain family 3 (YTHDF3). COX4I1 deficiency subsequently disrupted oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), resulting in attenuated adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which increased DNA damage levels. This comprehensive study extends the understanding of PM2.5-induced childhood asthma via DNA damage and identifies exosomal lncRNA PAET as a potential target for childhood asthma.

Environmental protection talents training (EPTT) is recognized as a key prerequisite for maintaining environmental sustainability, and in order to study the influence of each player on EPTT. This paper innovatively constructs a tripartite evolutionary game model of government, university and enterprise. The equilibrium points and evolutionary stabilization strategies of each participant are solved by replicating the dynamic equations, and the behaviors of each subject in EPTT are analyzed so as to clarify the behavioral characteristics and optimal strategies of the government's participation in EPTT. The results show that enterprises occupy a more important position in influencing government decisions. The government should reduce the financial incentives for enterprises and replace them with greater policy support. Meanwhile, the government should actively promote the cultivation mechanism that integrates universities and enterprises. The results of the study can provide a decision-making basis for the government to promote the sustainable development of EPTT.

Abstract Refractory status epilepticus (RSE) is a neurological emergency where sustaining seizure causes severe neuronal death. Currently, there is no available neuroprotectant effective in RSE. Aminoprocalcitonin (NPCT) is a conserved peptide cleaved from procalcitonin, but its distribution and function in the brain remain enigmatic. Survival of neurons relies on sufficient energy supply. Recently, we found that NPCT was extensively distributed in the brain and had potent modulations on neuronal oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), suggesting that NPCT might be involved in neuronal death by regulating energy status. In the present study, combining biochemical and histological methods, high-throughput RNA-sequence, Seahorse XFe analyser, an array of mitochondria function assays, and behavior-electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring, we investigated the roles and translational values of NPCT in neuronal death after RSE. We found that NPCT was extensively distributed throughout gray matters in rat brain while RSE triggered NPCT overexpression in hippocampal CA3 pyramidal neurons. High-throughput RNA-sequence demonstrated that the influences of NPCT on primary hippocampal neurons were enriched in OXPHOS. Further function assays verified that NPCT facilitated ATP production, enhanced the activities of mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes I, IV, V, and increased neuronal maximal respiration capacity. NPCT exerted multiple neurotrophic effects including facilitating synaptogenesis, neuritogenesis, spinogenesis, and suppression of caspase-3. A polyclonal NPCT immunoneutralization antibody was developed to antagonize NPCT. In the in vitro 0-Mg2+ seizure model, immunoneutralization of NPCT caused more neuronal death, while exogenous NPCT supplementation, though did not reverse death outcomes, preserved mitochondrial membrane potential. In rat RSE model, both peripheral and intracerebroventricular immunoneutralization of NPCT exacerbated hippocampal neuronal death and peripheral immunoneutralization increased mortality. Intracerebroventricular immunoneutralization of NPCT further led to more serious hippocampal ATP depletion, and significant EEG power exhaustion. We conclude that NPCT is a neuropeptide regulating neuronal OXPHOS. During RSE, NPCT was overexpressed to protect hippocampal neuronal survival via facilitating energy supply.

This paper takes No.2 water-rich coal seam of Balasu Coal Mine in northern Yuheng Mining Area of Jurassic Coal Field in northern Shaanxi as the main research object, and studies the basic characteristics and fracture characteristics of the coal seam. Combined with field measurement, laboratory experiment, theoretical calculation and other methods, the inorganic mineral composition, physical and mechanical properties of coal seam, coal structure discrimination, coal crack main parameters and other analyses were carried out, and the major characteristics of No.2 water-rich coal seam were found. The results show that, compared with other non-water-rich coal seams, the contents of carbonate minerals and clay minerals in No.2 water-rich coal seam in Balasu Mine Field are lower, and the coal cracks are not easy to be filled and blocked. The pyrite in the coal seam is distributed in veins and strips. The occurrence state is the product of fluid precipitation, which reflects the active fluid runoff in No.2 coal seam. In addition, the No.2 water-rich coal seam has relatively small compressive strength and elastic modulus, and is more likely to produce plastic failure under the action of original in-situ stress, resulting in the formation of cracks. And the coal body structure of the coal seam is fractured coal in some areas. At the same time, the No.2 water-rich coal seam is affected by small structure in the area to a certain extent, and the main parameter value of coal seam fracture is much higher than that of other coal seams. That is, the average density of coal seam cracks is 11.48 per m, the number of coal volume cracks is 4.01 per m3, and the coal integrity coefficient is 0.72, the average fracture rate of coal seam section is about 3.12%. It is concluded that the No.2 coal seam in Balasu Mine Field has the advantageous medium conditions for storing and migrating groundwater.

Abstract Background Acute lung injury (ALI) is a common and serious complication of sepsis with high mortality. Ferroptosis, categorized as programmed cell death, contributes to the development of lung injury. Protectin conjugates in tissue regeneration 1 (PCTR1) is an endogenous lipid mediator that exerts protective effects against multiorgan injury. However, the role of PCTR1 in the ferroptosis of sepsis-related ALI remains unknown. Methods A pulmonary epithelial cell line and a mouse model of ALI stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were established in vitro and in vivo. Ferroptosis biomarkers, including ferrous (Fe2+), glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA) and 4-Hydroxynonenal (4-HNE), were assessed by relevant assay kits. Glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2) protein levels were determined by western blotting. Lipid peroxides were examined by fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. Cell viability was determined by a CCK-8 assay kit. The ultrastructure of mitochondria was observed with transmission electron microscopy. Morphology and inflammatory cytokine levels predicted the severity of lung injury. Afterward, related inhibitors were used to explore the potential mechanism by which PCTR1 regulates ferroptosis. Results PCTR1 treatment protected mice from LPS-induced lung injury, which was consistent with the effect of the ferroptosis inhibitor ferrostatin-1. PCTR1 treatment decreased Fe2+, PTGS2 and lipid reactive oxygen species (ROS) contents, increased GSH and GPX4 levels and ameliorated mitochondrial ultrastructural injury. Administration of LPS or the ferroptosis agonist RSL3 resulted in reduced cell viability, which was rescued by PCTR1. Mechanistically, inhibition of the PCTR1 receptor lipoxin A4 (ALX), protein kinase A (PKA) and transcription factor cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB) partly decreased PCTR1 upregulated GPX4 expression and a CREB inhibitor blocked the effects ofPCTR1 on ferroptosis inhibition and lung protection. Conclusion This study suggests that PCTR1 suppresses LPS-induced ferroptosis via the ALX/PKA/CREB signaling pathway, which may offer promising therapeutic prospects in sepsis-related ALI.

In view of the problems in transmission capacity of illumination guidance system, this paper presents a high speed of 2.5 Gbit/s optical system based on gigabit transceiver. The system takes gigabit transceiver as the core device. It is used to achieve a series of processing with multiple data types and multiple interface in optical fiber transmission and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). It ultimately achieves the high-speed optical fiber transmission of serial data. The results show that the system can increase the processing rate of the data from guidance array to ground console. It also reduces the number of equipment in illumination guidance system, which breaks through the limit of transmission distance between guidance array and ground console.

Abstract Exogenous glutathione (GSH) promotes the proliferation of embryogenic callus (EC) cells in Korean pine in the course of somatic embryogenesis, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) may play an important role in regulating the proliferation of EC cells by exogenous GSH. However, the concrete metabolic response of ROS is unclear. In this study, two cell lines of Korean pine with high proliferative potential 001#-001 (F, Fast proliferative potential cell line is abbreviated as F) and low proliferative potential 001#-010 (S, Slow proliferative potential cell line is abbreviated as S) were used as test materials. The responses of ROS-related enzymes and substances to exogenous GSH and L-Buthionine-sulfoximine (BSO) were investigated in EC cells. The results showed that the exogenous addition of GSH increased the number of early somatic embryogenesis (SEs) in EC cells of both F and S cell lines, decreased the amount of cell death in both cell lines. Exogenous addition of GSH promoted cell division in both cell lines, increased intracellular superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities, inhibited intracellular hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) production, and increased NO/ROS ratio. In conclusion, the exogenous GSH promoting the proliferation of Korean pine EC cells, the activity of intracellular antioxidant enzymes was enhanced, the ROS level was reduced, and the resistance of cells to stress was enhanced.

Using remote sensing video to monitor aircraft dynamics is significant for military applications, airport management, and aircraft rescue. The aircraft has a fixed size and obvious characteristics, so it is suitable for correlation filtering. Correlation filtering algorithms can extract features from input data to predict motion trajectories, and the calculation speed of correlation filterings is fast. Hence, such algorithms are advantageous for tracking targets in remote sensing images. In this article, an antidrift multifilter tracker based on a correlation filter and the Kalman filter is proposed for this purpose. This article proposes a temporal consistency-constrained background-aware correlation filter algorithm based on temporal regularization that resists the model drift caused by clouds by using motion information to correct it. Experimental results show that our proposed method shows improved antidrift performance compared with other advanced tracking methods in cases of cloud occlusion and stable performance in other complex conditions. We believe that our model will be helpful for researchers who are interested in object tracking in satellite video, especially for processing satellite video data with cloud occlusion.

In order to improve the effect of intelligent fertilisation, according to actual fertilisation needs, this paper combines big data technology to perform data analysis, and designs a variable fertilisation mechanical structure that can be used for mixed fertilisation to realise mixed fertilisation of multiple crops. Moreover, from the perspective of precise fertilisation, this paper combines the actual needs of variable fertilisation to construct a control system, and adopts an adaptive federated filter structure to solve the influence of equipment errors on system position estimation. In addition, this paper solves the problems of excessive partial application and low fertiliser utilisation in traditional fertilisation, as well as the resulting waste, environmental pollution, and poor quality of agricultural products. Furthermore, this paper designs and manufactures a dual-variable application test device, and conducted a fertiliser discharge test on the test device. Finally, this paper uses big data technology to analyze the experimental data of variable fertilisation operation machinery. From the experimental research, it can be seen that the effect of the fertilisation operation machinery designed in this paper meets actual needs.

Abstract Identification of cancer‐associated variants, especially those in functional regions of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), has become an essential task in tumor etiology. However, the genetic function of lncRNA variants involved in bladder cancer susceptibility remains poorly understood. Herein, it is identified that the rs62483508 G > A variant in microRNA response elements (MREs) of lncRNA Bladder cancer Cell Cytoplasm‐Enriched abundant transcript 4 (BCCE4) is significantly associated with decreased bladder cancer risk (odds ratio = 0.84, P = 7.33 × 10−8) in the Chinese population (3603 cases and 4986 controls) but not in the European population. The protective genetic effect of the rs62483508 A allele is found in smokers or cigarette smoke‐related carcinogen 4‐aminobiphenyl (4‐ABP) exposure. Subsequent biological experiments reveal that the A allele of rs62483508 disrupts the binding affinity of miR‐328‐3p to facilitate USP18 from miRNA‐mediated degradation and thus specifically attenuates the downstream PD‐L1/PD‐1 interaction. LncRNA BCCE4 is also enriched in exosomes from bladder cancer plasma, tissues, and cells. This comprehensive study clarifies the genetic mechanism of lncRNA BCCE4 in bladder cancer susceptibility and its role in the regulation of the immune response in tumorigenesis. The findings provide a valuable predictor of bladder cancer risk that can facilitate diagnosis and prevention.

Abstract 6D pose estimation has been pervasively applied to various robotic applications, such as service robots, collaborative robots, and unmanned warehouses. However, accurate 6D pose estimation is still a challenge problem due to the complexity of application scenarios caused by illumination changes, occlusion and even truncation between objects, and additional refinement is required for accurate 6D object pose estimation in prior work. Aiming at the efficiency and accuracy of 6D object pose estimation in these complex scenes, this paper presents a novel end‐to‐end network, which effectively utilises the contextual information within a neighbourhood region of each pixel to estimate the 6D object pose from RGB‐D images. Specifically, our network first applies the attention mechanism to extract effective pixel‐wise dense multimodal features, which are then expanded to multi‐scale dense features by integrating pixel‐wise features at different scales for pose estimation. The proposed method is evaluated extensively on the LineMOD and YCB‐Video datasets, and the experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to several state‐of‐the‐art baselines in terms of average point distance and average closest point distance.

Abstract Point cloud data in the real world is often affected by occlusion and light reflection, leading to incompleteness of the data. Large‐region missing point clouds will cause great deviations in downstream tasks. A dual feature fusion network (DFF‐Net) is proposed to improve the accuracy of the completion of a large missing region of the point cloud. First, a dual feature encoder is designed to extract and fuse the global and local features of the input point cloud. Subsequently, a decoder is used to directly generate a point cloud of missing region that retains local details. In order to make the generated point cloud more detailed, a loss function with multiple terms is employed to emphasise the distribution density and visual quality of the generated point cloud. A large number of experiments show that the authors’ DFF‐Net is better than the previous state‐of‐the‐art methods in the aspect of point cloud completion.

BackgroundMarshall vein ethanol infusion (MVEI) as an additional therapy to conventional catheter ablation (CA) has been proved to be efficacious in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (PeAF). ObjectiveThis study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided local injection (UGLI) of betamethasone around the shoulder and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain.MethodForty-two patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain were randomly divided into the UGLI group (N = 21) and the ESWT group (N = 21). In the UGLI group, betamethasone was injected at the pain point around the shoulder under ultrasonic localization. In the ESWT group, an extracorporeal shock wave was performed at the pain points around the shoulder for 20 min of time, once a week, for 4 consecutive weeks. Both groups received rehabilitation training. The visual analog scale (VAS) evaluation was performed at baseline, 1 h, 1 week, and 1 month after treatment. Furthermore, Neer shoulder joint function scores, upper limb Fugl–Meyer assessment (FMA), modified Barthel index (MBI), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), the MOS-item short-form health survey (SF-36) scores, and serum expression level of cytokine were evaluated at baseline and 1 month after treatment.ResultsAfter 1-h treatment, the UGLI group showed a greater effect on the degree of pain than the ESWT group (P = 0.017). After 4 consecutive weeks of intervention, the UGLI group showed a significant improvement in the serum level of cytokine expression compared with the ESWT group (P < 0.05). The range of motion (ROM) of the hemiplegic shoulder (P < 0.05) has no difference between the two groups (P > 0.05).ConclusionThe ultrasonic-guided betamethasone local injection and extracorporeal shock wave both can improve hemiplegic shoulder pain. However, the UGLI can induce a more cytokine expression level.

Introduction: Collateral formation is insufficient in some patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Peripheral blood CD14++CD16+ monocytes (intermediate monocytes; IM) and vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) are associated with formation of collateral circulation. Methods: We enrolled 49 patients with AMI who underwent emergency percutaneous transluminal coronary intervention (PCI) (Group A) and 27 patients underwent delayed PCI 1 week after AMI (Group B). The percentage of circulating IM and levels of VEGFs in circulation were determined on day 8th. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was measured 3 months after AMI. Results: The peripheral levels of IM and serum VEGF levels on day 8th were significantly higher in patients with well-developed collateral circulation in Group A than those in Group B. The levels of circulating VEGFs in the collateral circulation (+) subgroup in Group B were lower than those in the collateral circulation (−) subgroup. Moreover, the serum VEGF-B186 levels positively correlated with IM. Conclusions: Hyperacute collateral formation in patients with AMI correlated with a higher percentage of CD14++CD16+ monocytes and VEGF-B186 levels in the circulation, which was associated with milder left ventricular remodeling. The regulation of CD14++CD16+ monocytes and VEGF-B may be critical to the formation of collateral circulation and to healing AMI.
