Abstract

Construction of coupled composite heterojunctions is an effective strategy for achieving high photocatalytic performance of SrTiO3(STO) perovskite. Herein, we synthesized Ag2O-STO heterostructure piezocatalysts using a simple one-step wet chemical method and evaluated its performance for full-spectrum photocatalytic degradation of toluene. Our findings reveal that the Ag2O-STO heterostructure demonstrates excellent catalytic activity, with a toluene conversion rate of 70%, which is 2.7 times that of STO. Furthermore, it showed good stability in five photocatalytic cycling experiments. The excellent catalytic performance of Ag2O-STO was attributed to the formation of p–n heterostructures, which induced the generation of a strong electrostatic field effect, providing a driving force for the transport of carriers and lowering the recombination or complexation rate, which could be confirmed by the photocurrent response. A possible mechanism of Ag2O-STO heterostructure is proposed. 34. Combined effect of amino nitrogen and pyridine nitrogen for tetracycline adsorption on aminopyridine modified MIL-101(Cr).

Abstract

MIL-101(Cr) has demonstrated promising potential for tetracycline (TC) adsorption owing to its exceptional water stability. In this study, polymers with nitrogenous organic ligands were incorporated in the framework of MIL-101(Cr) using a post-synthetic modification approach to enhance the adsorption properties of MIL-101(Cr) for TC. We used the grafting reagent 4-aminopyridine (4-Apy), which contains two types of nitrogen species (amino nitrogen and pyridine nitrogen), to create a series of stable MOF composite materials, xApy-MIL-101(Cr), through interaction with the exposed Cr(III) sites in MIL-101(Cr). The high nitrogenous organic ligand content in the framework of xApy-MIL-101(Cr) contributes to its high TC adsorption capacity. The results showed that 30%Apy-MIL-101(Cr) adsorbed far more than MIL-101(Cr), reaching a maximum adsorbed amount of 264.5 mg g−1, nearly five times greater. Importantly, adsorption equilibrium can be reached within 50 minutes. Moreover, the primary adsorption mechanisms of xApy-MIL-101(Cr) for TC removal involve hydrogen bonding, π–π interactions, and electrostatic interactions. Additionally, 30%Apy-MIL-101(Cr) demonstrated excellent adsorption cycle stability, maintaining a regeneration rate of 74% even after four cycles of TC adsorption and desorption. 35. Effects of Al, Ti or Zr modification on performances of embedded Ni@SiO2 catalysts for partial oxidation of methane to syngas.

Abstract

The embedded catalysts can effectively prevent the sintering behavior, and realize the high activity in partial oxidation of methane (POM) reaction. The embedded Ni@SiO2 catalysts were prepared by Stöber method, and the Al, Ti or Zr were used to modify them. Various characterizations, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and N2 adsorption/desorption, were employed to the characterizations of crystalline phase structures, morphologies and texture parameters of catalysts. The effects of modification of catalysts on the catalytic POM performance were further investigated under the feed gases compositions of V(CH4):V(O2):V(N2) of 2:1:3, gas flow rate of 60 mL/min, pressure of 0.1 MPa, space velocity of 7.2 L/(g⋅h) and reaction time of 22 h. The results show that compared with Ni@SiO2 catalyst, the Ni@Al-SiO2 catalyst can promote the activation of methane and its catalytic performance is improved. However, the Ni@Ti-SiO2 and Ni@Zr-SiO2 catalysts show the decreased catalytic performances because of the obstruction of active sites. At 700 °C, the CH4 conversation rates of Ni@Al-SiO2 and Ni@SiO2 are 86% and 80%, the CO selectivities are both about 90%, and the H2 selectivities are 93% and 88%, respectively. However, compared with Ni@SiO2 catalyst, the CH4 conversion rates, CO selectivities and H2 selectivities of Ni@Ti-SiO2 and Ni@Zr-SiO2 are significantly reduced. It reveals that the catalyst deactivation can be mainly ascribed to the loss of active sites and carbon deposit. But the active sites are not completely covered by deposited carbon, and the catalyst still maintain robust catalytic POM performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Studying the relationship between electronic structure and activity helps to understand the catalytic mechanism since the catalytic combustion is a redox reaction dominated by electron transfer. Herein, we regulated the electron energy and O p-band center of La-based perovskite catalysts by a facile method of changing the B-site ion (B = Co, Mn, Fe). The crystal structure, morphology, reducibility, element valence distribution, and catalytic properties of prepared catalysts were characterized. Combining with DFT calculation, it was found that the low electron energy in (110) facets of LaCoO3/SiO2 catalyst contributes to the formation of reactive oxygen species and high-valence Co3+ ions. The highest oxygen adsorption activation capacity of LaCoO3/SiO2 originates from a moderate location of the O p-band center with respect to the Fermi level. As expected, the LaCoO3/SiO2 sample shows higher n-butylamine oxidation activity than that of LaMnO3/SiO2 and LaFeO3/SiO2.
