This article addresses the concept and practice of liaison librarianship newly introduced in 2019 at the University Library of Freie Universität Berlin. Chances and challenges of library-faculty collaboration of two liaison librarians assigned to work with the Department of Earth Sciences and the Seminar of East Asian Studies, respectively, are discussed. The contribution seeks to give a stimulus for liaison librarianship in academic libraries and to connect to the well-established discourse on liaison librarianship in the Anglophone academic library world. The article explores the history of German family networks in Colonial Louisiana. Particular focus is given to evidence and documentation taken from 18th century parish records. Additional topics discussed include the deployment off Capuchin clergymen to Louisiana, an exploration of the baptism and wedding records of German immigrants, and how the records explored include documentation of both elite and "laboureur" immigrants.

In response to an increasingly expressed need for factual information, a science-based information web portal, the Shale Gas Information Platform SHIP, was developed. At the core of the project is the shale gas expert network. It’s an international and interdisciplinary group composed of mainly scientists that share their specific knowledge with the public. With a strong focus on factual information, this initiative also strives to serve the scientific community as a publication and knowledge exchange platform. The article discusses the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, which was involved in the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities in 2003. Technical aspects of open access electronic publishing are discussed with regard to the association, focusing on benefits for German researchers.

Several static and dynamic forced-motion wind-tunnel tests on a generic unmanned combat air vehicle configuration with a 53 deg swept leading edge are reviewed. The static tests include both subsonic and transonic measurements. These tests are part of an international research effort to assess and advance the state-of-the-art of computational-fluid-dynamics methods to predict the static and dynamic stability and control characteristics for this type of configuration. The tests included analysis of trailing-edge control surface effectiveness. This paper describes the data collected from three different models of this unmanned combat air vehicle configuration in four different wind tunnels. A subset of this large experimental dataset was selected as focus test cases for computational-fluid-dynamics comparison. The focus test case data are presented in detail. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
