The energy-exergy and environ-economic (4E) analysis was conducted on a solar still with and without a hybrid thermal energy storage system (TESS) and a solar air heater. The proposed solar still was modified by integrating a rectangular aluminium box filled with paraffin wax and black gravel as the TESS and coupled with a solar air heater. Paraffin wax was selected due to its widespread availability and proven effectiveness in accelerating desalination, improving process uniformity, and maintaining optimal temperature levels. Throughout the experiments, meticulous data on mass loss, air velocity, and temperature were recorded for both conditions. The daily energy efficiency varies from 40.80% to 31.72%, showing a reduction rate with increased water depth. Estimates were made on the average exergy efficiency, losses, outflow, and inflow for the solar still. These were done for both setups. The analysis revealed that CO2 mitigation and credit were more favorable with the TESS. Furthermore, the Energy Payback Time (EPBT) for the hybrid heat storage-based single-slope solar still coupled with a solar air heater is 1.87 years. On the other hand, EPBT values for the hybrid heat storage single-slope solar still and the conventional single-slope solar still were 1.65 years and 0.95 years, respectively. Integrating a thermal energy storage system and solar air heater significantly improved the performance and sustainability of the solar still for desalination, making it a more efficient and environmentally friendly option for freshwater production. Heat exchangers are crucial in transferring heat and finding applications across various industries. Numerous strategies have been devised to improve and optimize the heat transfer process within these systems. Among these, passive methods have garnered significant attention for their ability to operate without external power consumption. This article examines the recent experimental and computational studies conducted by researchers since 2018 on passive enhancement techniques, especially twisted tape, wire coil, swirl flow generator, and others, to boost the thermal efficiency of heat exchangers and aid designers in adopting passive augmentation methods for compact heat exchangers. Recently, researchers' new class of flow maldistribution devices, referred to as swirl flow devices, has gained attention; which enhances convective heat transfer by introducing swirl into the main flow and disrupting the boundary layer at the tube surface through alterations in surface geometry. Twisted tape inserts are devices that demonstrate better performance in laminar flow compared to turbulent flow. Conversely, other passive techniques like ribs, conical nozzles, and conical rings are generally more effective in turbulent flow than laminar flow. A recent research trend is the utilization of nanofluids in combination with other passive heat transfer enhancement techniques like turbulators, ribs, and twisted tape inserts in heat exchangers, which can reduce exergy losses and improve overall convective heat transfer coefficient and effectiveness of heat exchanger. The focus of this scope is on the single phase Cuk and SEPIC power factor correction converter that is attractive to electric bicycle applications. In order to guarantee improved performance, the proposed modified converter is designed to operate in discontinuous conduction mode, which is hidden by changes in supply and load voltage. For rated load, the investigational study achieves reduced input line total harmonic distortion and unity power factor. Line regulation, high efficiency, and load regulation are achieved by means of a closed loop PI control circuit that has a voltage sensor and current loop. The power supply is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink under various operating conditions, and the designed system is validated using a 250 W hardware prototype. The input current is observed to be perfectly sinusoidal, and the IEC 61000-3-2 class A standard is followed in recording the total harmonic distortion of the mains current. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explores the transformative impact of three-dimensional printing, or additive manufacturing, in the development of bamboo-based 3D printing parts. Recently, there has been growing interest in incorporating natural fibers, such as bamboo, into polymers to enhance the structural integrity and strength of 3D-printed polymeric materials. This paper thoroughly examines the opportunities and obstacles associated with using additive manufacturing techniques to print bamboo fiber composites. This study includes an analysis of the mechanical properties, thermal properties, biodegradability, and environmental benefits of bamboo fiber composites. It also covers the processing methods and the printing parameters of bamboo fiber composites. This paper review focuses on the future prospects of bamboo fiber composites as a sustainable material in additive manufacturing based on the analysis of the existing literature and the recent research developments. This work explores the influence of a pre-engineered notch on the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) parameters in NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA) during tensile tests. The test data showed that the EMR signal fluctuated between oscillatory and exponential, signifying that the specimen's viscosity damping coefficient changes during strain hardening. The EMR parameters, maximum EMR amplitude, and average EMR energy release rate remained constant initially but rose sharply with the plastic zone radius with progressive loading. It was postulated that new Frank–Read sources permit dislocation multiplication and increase the number of edge dislocations participating in EMR emissions, leading to a rise in the value of EMR parameters. The study of the correlation between EMR emission parameters and the plastic zone radius before the crack tip is a vital crack growth monitoring tool. An analysis of the interrelationship of the EMR energy release rate at fracture with the elastic strain energy release rate would help develop an innovative approach to assess fracture toughness, a critical parameter for the design and safety of metals. The microstructural analysis of tensile fractures and the interrelation between deformation behaviours concerning the EMR parameters offers a novel and real-time approach to improve the extant understanding of the behaviour of metallic materials. This study focused on developing a finite element (FE) model using COMSOL Multiphysics to simulate the active mode of a greenhouse dryer under no-load conditions in Ranchi humid subtropical climate. The model visualized the temperature and humidity distribution within the dryer and was validated against real-world experimental results. Under unloaded conditions, the performance assessment revealed a 29.14% efficiency for the proposed dryer and a maximum overall convective heat transfer coefficient of 5.0 W/m2 °C. The internal temperature ranged from 50°C to 70°C, while the relative humidity hovered between 30% and 45%. The COMSOL Multiphysics-based FE model demonstrated close agreement between experimental and predicted results, with minimal statistical error. Overall, the findings suggest that the active mode of the greenhouse dryer could be a valuable tool for crop drying in humid subtropical climates. This paper analyzes patient-provider interaction (PPI). More precisely, it deals with the form-function relationship in questions used in counselor-patient interaction. The study is based on naturally occurring primary data collected at the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH), located in Aligarh Muslim University, India. The data are composed of audio-visual recordings of Hindi-Urdu interaction between 8 counselors and 27 patients. We identified compliance and condescension as the two unique functions the counselors seeks to accomplish and/or fulfill through the use of questions in their interaction with the patients. We also found four other functions – information seeking, recall, greeting, and diagnosis, which are sought by the counselors through their use of questions. The findings also suggest that these functions maintain and promote what can be termed as a counselor-centered interaction, and thus reflect asymmetrical power relationship between counselors and their patients. The growing population and increasing urbanization have led to a surge in domestic wastewater generation, posing significant challenges for effective and sustainable treatment. The present study demonstrates a novel and sustainable approach for the onsite treatment of domestic wastewater using an integrated settler-based biofilm reactor (ISBR) with efficient biogas generation. The ISBR provides an optimized environment for the growth of biofilm, facilitating the removal of organic pollutants and pathogens. Moreover, the ISBR enables the recovery of a valuable resource in the form of biogas, thus enhancing the overall utility of the treatment process. The performance of the ISBR was comprehensively evaluated at laboratory scale through treating the actual domestic wastewater generated from the hostel of Manipal University Jaipur. The ISBR system was operated under an ambient environment at a hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 24 h. The results demonstrated remarkable efficiency in terms of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), and coliforms removal, with average removal efficiency being more than 90%. According to the COD mass balance analysis, 48.2% of the influent COD was recovered as bioenergy. The chromatogram revealed a high percentage of methane gas in the collected biogas sample. The field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) analysis of the accumulated sludge in the ISBR system depicted the morphology of methanogenic bacteria.
