210Po, a highly toxic element with strong volatility, is one of the main source terms of a Gen-IV lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR). Therefore, the radioactive safety caused by 210Po has become an important topic in LFR-related research. In order to simulate the behavior of 210Po in an LFR, this work developed a multi-physics model of an LFR from the perspective of radioactive transport. Considering the effects of nuclide decay, cover gas leakage, containment ventilation, and Po aerosol deposition, a comprehensive simulation was carried out to evaluate the sensitivity of those effects on the 210Po distribution in detail. Preliminary results indicate that during normal operation, most of the 210Po in the LBE exist in the form of PbPo, and around 10–9 of 210Po could evaporate from the LBE into the cover gas, and then further leak into the containment. In addition, even if the leakage rate of 210Po in the cover gas into the containment is maintained at 5‰ per day, due to the deposition of Po aerosol, the 210Po contamination on the inner surface of the containment is still below the radioactivity concentration limits.

Objective To evaluate the effect of the recommended treatment algorithms of the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) or Hong Kong Liver Cancer (HKLC) staging systems on the survival rate of patients with HCC. Methods A total of 436 patients newly diagnosed as HCC were analyzed. The prognostic performance and efficacy of treatment recommendations were compared between the two systems. All patients were first classified into a tumour stage according to the HKLC and BCLC staging systems respectively, and then they were divided into groups depending on whether they ultimately received the treatment recommended by the two staging systems. The efficacy of treatment algorithms of BCLC and HKLC systems was evaluated by comparing the patients who received treatment recommendations of either BCLC or HKLC stage to those who did not. Results HCC patients who received the recommended treatment algorithms of the BCLC and HKLC systems had a significantly favourable 5-year survival probability compared with the patients who did not (BCLC: 48% vs. 30%, P < 0.001; HKLC: 41% vs. 29%, P < 0.001). Patients receiving resection had a significantly favourable 5-year survival rate in BCLC-B/HKLC-Ⅰ+Ⅱa+Ⅱb, BCLC-B/HKLC-Ⅲa+Ⅲb and BCLC-C/HKLC-Ⅲa+Ⅲb groups than those receiving TACE, Sorafenib or best supportive care(all P < 0.05). Conclusion The recommended treatment algorithms of the BCLC and HKLC systems could improve survival rates of HCC patients. Curative therapies are superior to standard of care for BCLC-B/HKLC-Ⅰ+Ⅱa+Ⅱb, BCLC-B/HKLC-Ⅲa+Ⅲb and BCLC-C/HKLC-Ⅲa+Ⅲb patients. Some patients can achieve better survival through active radical treatment.

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) results from hematopoietic stem cell transformation by the BCR-ABL kinase. Despite the success of BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in treating CML patients, leukemia stem cells (LSCs) resist elimination and persist as a major barrier to cure. Previous studies suggest that overexpression of the sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) deacetylase may contribute to LSC maintenance in CML. Here, by genetically deleting SIRT1 in transgenic CML mice, we definitively demonstrated an important role for SIRT1 in leukemia development. We identified a previously unrecognized role for SIRT1 in mediating increased mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in CML LSCs. We showed that mitochondrial alterations were kinase independent and that TKI treatment enhanced inhibition of CML hematopoiesis in SIRT1-deleted mice. We further showed that the SIRT1 substrate PGC-1[alpha] contributed to increased oxidative phosphorylation and TKI resistance in CML LSCs. When the overhead line passes through the forest area, the conductor may contact the line to induce the tree-contact single-phase-to-ground fault (TSF), and the persistence of TSF may induce wildfires, bringing serious consequences. However, the amount of TSF electrical features is weak, and traditional protection devices cannot operate effectively, so it is urgent to obtain typical characteristics of TSF. In this study, the simulation experiment is carried out for the tree-contact single-phase-to-ground fault. Firstly, the relativity between fault and characteristics like zero-sequence voltage, zero-sequence current, and differential current are analyzed theoretically. Then, the simulation experiment platform of TSF is built, and the time-varying fault characteristics are acquired. The experimental results show that the average value of the zero-sequence voltage, the amplitude of the power-frequency component of the zero-sequence current, and the amplitude of the power-frequency component of the first and end differential current can accurately reflect the fault current development trend of the single-phase contact tree fault of the conductor, and can be used as the typical characteristic quantity of TSF. The results of this study are helpful for further understanding the fault characteristics of TSF and provide theoretical support for the identification and protection design of TSF. 144 New Zealand weaned rabbits weighing (769.74 ± 67.32 g) were randomly chosen and divided into 3 groups by single factor design: The control group, compound essential oil group and oregano oil group, with 16 replicates in each group and 3 rabbits in each replicate. Different groups were fed with basic diet, basic diet + 300 mg/kg compound essential oil and basic diet + 300 mg/kg oregano oil respectively. The pre-feeding period is 5 days and the formal period is 42 days. The test results are as follows:(1) The feed intake of the compound essential oil group was higher than that of the control group and oregano oil group (p < 0.01), and the daily weight gain and feed/gain (F/G) ratio were not significantly different among the groups (p > 0.05); (2) The diarrhoea index and frequency in the compound essential oil group and oregano oil group were respectively, lower than control group (p < 0.01), and the mortality rate was 31.03% and 41.67% (p < 0.05); (3) The content of immunoglobin G (IgG) in blood of compound essential oil group was 35.39% and 28.57% higher than that of the control group and oregano oil group (p < 0.01), but there was no significant difference between immunoglobulin A (IgA) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) groups (p > 0.05); (4) The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme in oregano oil group was significantly higher than that of the control group and the compound essential oil group (p < 0.01). The content of malondialdehyde (MDA) in the compound essential oil group was 30.81% lower than control group (p < 0.05), but there was no significant difference between the compound essential oil group and the oregano oil group. The contents of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), catalase (CAT) and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC) were not significant differences among groups (p > 0.05); (5) The economic benefits of the compound essential oil group and the oregano oil group were better than that of the control group. To sum up, both compound essential oil and oregano oil can not only improve the immunity and antioxidant capacity of weaned rabbits, but can also reduce the rate of diarrhoea and mortality as well as improve the economic benefits of farm animal. Dietary supplementation of compound essential oil or oregano oil improved the immunity and antioxidant capacity of weaned meat rabbits. Dietary supplementation of compound essential oil or oregano oil reduced the rate of diarrhoea and mortality of weaned meat rabbits.
