[Introduction] The real-time monitoring and regular inspection for the primary electrical equipment in valve hall is extremely important to safety operation of converter station. [Method] In this study we investigated the demand of regular inspection of ±800 kV VSC-HVDC converter station, combined with the character of valve hall and operational experience in of converter station. [Result] The complete solution of intelligent inspection system in enclosed valve hall of ±800 kV VSC-HVDC converter station is provided. [Conclusion] Therefore, due to highly integrated of the proposed solutions, the automation level of inspection works will be increased dramatically.

Compared with the direct access to the main power grid and diesel generators, this paper puts forward the scheme of using electric ships to shuttle between islands to transport electric energy, analyzes the limitations and defects of its application in offshore islands; and then puts forward a comprehensive energy supply system of offshore islands. The comprehensive energy supply system can make full use of the rich renewable energy of the islands, and realize the optimal allocation of the overall resources of the islands. At the same time, the energy supply system can break the isolated development pattern of island power grid and connect the island group power exchange ship. This paper analyzes the connotation and characteristics of the system, puts forward the key technology for building the integrated energy supply system of ocean island group, and gives the design and operation analysis example of power exchange ship.

The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of swimming training in reducing body mass index (BMI) and body fat percentage among individuals with Down syndrome (DS), utilizing a meta-analysis approach. We conducted a systematic search for studies examining the clinical impact of swimming training on individuals with DS. Inclusion criteria encompassed studies involving DS patients who underwent swimming training for a minimum duration of 4 weeks. The primary focus was to compare changes in BMI and body fat percentage from baseline to post-training. Our analysis incorporated four studies comprising a total of 48 participants. The results demonstrated that swimming training lasting from 8 to 36 weeks did not significantly decrease BMI among DS patients, with a weighted mean difference (WMD) post-training of −0.428 (95% confidence interval (CI): −1.721–0.865) and an I2 of 0%. Subgroup analysis based on age or duration (≥33 weeks or 8 weeks) also showed no notable decrease in BMI. Conversely, the analysis of body fat percentage demonstrated a significant decrease, with a WMD of −2.946 (95% CI: −5.056–−0.837). Subgroup analysis indicated a consistent reduction in body fat percentage across all duration groups. Swimming training does not lead to a significant reduction in BMI among individuals with DS. This outcome may be attributed to concurrent muscle gain alongside decreased body fat, resulting in a notable decrease in body fat percentage.

Few population-based studies have looked at the risk of uveitis among syphilis patients. Our study addresses the knowledge gap by reporting on uveitis risk in syphilis patients through a retrospective cohort study. The Taiwan National Health Insurance database was used for this study, covering the period from January 1st, 2009, to December 31st, 2020. We created a 1:4 propensity score matched cohort between the syphilis patients and controls, which accounted for gender, age, and comorbidities. The primary endpoint was the incidence of newly recorded uveitis. The assessment of uveitis risk in syphilis patients included the use of the Kaplan-Meier method and multivariate Cox proportional hazard model. A total of 31,597 syphilis patients and 126,379 matched comparisons were recruited. The uveitis incidence rate from our syphilis patients was 1.25 per 1000 person-years. The uveitis incidence rate from our non-syphilis group was 0.8 per 1000 person-years. English-language learning in rural Taiwan has been targeted by government policy for two decades, yet little research has investigated students' motivation and support in these rural communities. This study investigated the effects of students' gender, grade, parental support (PS), and teacher support (TS) on their English learning motivation (ELM) in Taiwan's rural middle-level schools. A quantitative survey approach was used in this study. Seven hundred and fifty-four questionnaires were delivered to the students in 12 rural middle-level schools. The collected data were analyzed by using the t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple-regression methods. Females reported higher ELM, PS, and TS than their male counterparts. Seventh-grade students reported higher ELM, PS, and TS than eighth- and ninth-grade students. PS and TS were significantly correlated to ELM. Appraisal support of teachers was the most relevant predictor for value, emotion, and willingness to execute factors of ELM. Programs and policies to improve ELM in rural schools are suggested.

Contribution: Prior studies have shown that project-based learning (PBL) is an effective approach on engineering education. This study further identifies the impact of a design thinking (DT) integrated PBL approach on the college students' learning motivation and creativity. Background: A well-developed robot and its project often require interdisciplinary knowledge, such as design and technology, and interdisciplinary team collaboration to optimize the requirements of desirability and viability for developing products. The current study systematically embeds the elements of DT and PBL on a robot design course. Intended Outcomes: The DT PBL approach can improve the student's learning motivation and creativity in developing robots for engineering students. Application Design: A quasi-experimental design was used. Eighteen participants were assigned to the experimental group, whereas 23 participants were assigned to the comparison group. While the elements of DT and PBL were embedded into and delivered for the experimental group, the comparison group used a PBL-only approach. Findings: Evidence collected from quantitative survey/tests and qualitative interviews indicates that: 1) the experimental group outperformed the comparison group in overall learning motivation, and its subscales (task value and self-efficacy). The project enabled them to reflect on the insufficiency of required expertise and skills, which also helped them to learn more effectively and efficiently and 2) the experimental group outperformed the comparison group in overall creativity and its subscales (fluency, originality, and flexibility). The experimental group students can think faster, consider the problem through multiple perspectives, and come out with more creative ideas.

ObjectiveTo explore the associations between the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and the risk of developing uveitis among cancer patients.MethodsCancer patients who received ICI therapy and a comparison group of cancer patients who did not receive ICI therapy were retrospectively recruited from the TriNetX electronic heath-record registry. The outcome of interest was the development of new-onset uveitis. Propensity score matching based on a 1:1 ratio was conducted in order to reduce bias. Multi-variate cox proportional hazard models and Kaplan Meier method were also utilized to assess for the risk of uveitis among cancer patients who received ICI therapy.Results71931 cancer patients (54.7% male; 76.5% white; mean age at index 63.6 ± 12.2 years) who received ICI treatment (ICI group) and 71931 cancer patients (54.7% male; 77% white; mean age at index 63.5 ± 12.4 years) who never received ICI (comparison group) were recruited.
